deuce flipped his most recent dead languages test over, quickly flipped it back over, and slumped in his seat, squeezing his eyes shut behind his glasses.

"yo, man." clawd tapped him on the shoulder. "what'd you get?"

"nothing good, dude," deuce mumbled.

"it can't be as bad as heath."

heath broke into a laugh and replied, "yeah, i got a 40! it's not like you could've gotten any worse than m—"

"i got a ten," deuce relented. he didn't need to open his eyes to see their widened eyes and gaping mouths. "yeah, i know."

"oh man. you think coach'll let you play next weekend?" clawd asked, tone worried. next weekend was the big casketball game, and coach had a strict c-average rule for his players. deuce was already straddling the line between a c and a d, but that test was going to drop him down to an f at least.

"definitely not," deuce said. "it's whatever, you guys'll do fine without me playing." he cracked an eye open to see clawd and heath exchange skeptical looks, but they dropped the topic for the rest of class.

at the end of the hour, just as deuce was gathering up his books, mr. rotter called him up to the front of the class. shooting a pleading glance at his friends, who shrugged apologetically, he shuffled down the steps to his teacher.

"'sup, mr. rotter?" deuce greeted. his teacher looked him up and down and scoffed.

"mr. gorgon, are you aware that you failed the test we just took last class?"

deuce looked down and scuffed his sneaker on the wooden floor. "yeah," he mumbled.

mr. rotter sighed and rubbed his temple. "you won't be able to play this weekend."

deuce nodded.

"coach igor's not gonna like that . . . but if you get your grades up in time for next week's quiz, you could be on track to play at the next game."

the next game was only two weeks out, and it was against their biggest rivals

"okay, sweet. how do i do that?" he asked.

"well, i could assign you a tutor."

deuce's head snapped up and some of his snakes hissed. "mr. r, man, you've gotta be kidding. a tutor? can't i do like, extra credit or something?"

"there are no more extra credit assignments for the rest of the semester," mr. rotter deadpanned. "you either don't play until you get your grades up by yourself or you can meet with the tutor. it's one or the other, mr. gorgon."

deuce groaned. "alright, alright. what's the tutor's name?"

"y/n."

he shrugged. "dunno 'em."

he wished he knew them sooner. the two weeks had gone by incredibely fast and mr. rotter's quiz was the next day. y/n was sitting across the small library table holding a stack of flashcards.

deuce kept getting every other question wrong because he kept looking at their eyes.

they sighed. "deuce. focus. the quiz is tommorow!" they sighed, putting the flashcards down between them and dropping their head into their hands. "oh my ghoul, the quiz is tommorow!"

"yeah, it is," deuce rubbed his neck sheepishly. "do you wanna...?" he gestured to the cards. his tutor, his crush, sighed again and looked up. they looked exhausted.

"yeah, sure," they said. they started to reach for the flashcards but deuce got an idea and put his hands over the cards. their fingers bumped into each other and y/n quickly pulled their hand back, eyes wide.

"wait. why don't we take a break?" he offered.

"a break? deuce we—"

"just like, thirty minutes," he protested. "we can go get a soda or a milkshake. anything to get out of this musty library."

their face transformed from a stressed, exasparated grimace into a bright smile. "milkshakes?"

"yeah!" deuce loved their smile.

"like..." their smile turned hesitant. "like a date?" they cocked their head to the side.

deuce's face flushed, and his snakes hissed. "i mean... if you want it to be a date," he replied, trying to act nonchalant.

". . . sure," they smiled.

"wait, really?" he asked, taken aback by their answer.

"yeah, i wanna get outta here too," they joked. "plus, you're like. . . really cute." they turned their face down to the table.

"then let's go!" deuce pushed his chair back and grabbed their hand. "c'mon."

they laughed all the way down the halls and into the parking lot, where they slid into the passenger seat of deuce's car.

a few minutes later, they were sipping on milkshakes, sitting on the hood of his car and watching the sun dip behind the horizon.

"y'know, this is way more fun than studying for rotter's stupid quiz," deuce said.

"definitely," y/n agreed. they took a long slurp of their milkshake, pulling out their phone to check the time. "oh, shit man. i've gotta get home. curfew, y'know?" they slid off the hood.

deuce looked down at them, disappointed, before his face lit up with another idea. "i can drive you home," he offered.

they looked up at him. he could feel a hot flush creeping up his neck and into his cheeks.

"that'd be nice."

y/n pushed open the passenger side door and got out. they waved goodbye and thanked deuce for the milkshake. "good luck tomorrow," they grinned. "you're gonna do great either way, cause, y'know." they pointed at themselves. "i'm your tutor."

deuce laughed and watched as they walked up their driveway.

"wait!" he called out. he quickly got out of his car and ran to meet them in the middle of their drive. "uh . . ."

one of his snakes hissed in his ear, berating him for being nervous. he shook his head and took a deep breath.

"do you wanna, uh. . . do this again soon?" he asked. y/n looked confused.

"the— the tutoring?" they questioned.

"no," deuce chuckled. "like, the milkshakes. the. . . the date."

"oh. oh! yeah, no totally sure!!!" y/n rambled. i'd rather see that twinkle in their eye rather than look at the stars, deuce thought. "that'd— that'd be nice. actually, that'd be great," they smiled.

"sweet."

"cool."

they both stood there, in the middle of the driveway, staring at each other like middle school crushes. then, y/n leaned forward and pressed a kiss to deuce's cheek.

they pulled back with wide eyes. "bye! see you later— tomorrow! uh—" they scrambled back towards the steps of their porch. "g'night, deuce!"

they shut the door behind them, and through the silhouette in the window, deuce saw them jump in the air, pumping their fist up.

he laughed and raised a hand to the cheek they kissed. "g'night, y/n."

There would be like, Drama in the drama. Like, seriously, have you ever seen an episode of Monster High where all is just peaceful or in harmony with the hallway ? Is Shakespeare a dignified tea party also ? What can POSSIBLY GO WRONG with Monster High and Shakespeare blended together ? Juliet Capulet - Draculaura. She was the first to apply for the project, so Mr. Where give her the role of Juliet ! Romeo Montague - Clawd Wolf. You know, there is some darkest hours in you're relationship's status, a time when you need to partake into the strange fantaisies of you're loved one. Clawd love Draculaura, but he know that he is going to die very soon, truly a true Romeo move.

Juliet Capulet (Second Part) - Kieran Valentine. This was part of his therapy, okay ?

Romeo Montague (Second Part) - Spelldon Cauldronello. Mother Circe recently taught him Divination. And he know there will be, like, real Drama. He's here for that... And for Kieran Valentine's booty.

ROLES OF CHAOTIC ALIGNEMENT

Rosaline - Abbey Bominable. Mr. Where say that she will not speak, and she don't want to waste oxygen on such silly things or being the romantic playground of a ''Shakespeare'' somebody... Rosaline is her spirit animal.

The Nurse - Clawdeen Wolf. It's possible that she want some claws on the matter with Draculaura and her brother. It"s seems to be closely related to some weird family-teenage matters, or just a upcoming prediction of Clawd's difficult encounter with theater...

Capulet (Patriarch) - Bram Devein. A weird Belfry Prep thing about being the masters of something.... But there is a problem, he didn't read the end of the play.

Montague (Patriarch) - Romulus. A weird Crescent Moon High's habit about having a eye on Belfry Prep.... But there is a problem, he didn't read the end of the play.

Prince(ss) Escalus - Amanita Nightshade wanted the best role, because Amanita can't end or be loved by only one, she is too bootiful for that ! So she wanted to be THE PRINCESS. And she was merciful, she only changed the gender, not the name ! Now, Mr. Where is praying that she don't want anything MORE.

Count Paris - Catrine DeMew. She wanted to explore some ''orientation theories'' by playing a potential suitor and viewing the effect between ''role and gender''. Mr. Where didn't ask anything about this.

Mercutio - Purrsephone. Apparently there is some minor conflicts between her and her twin, so she is her for the catharsis.

Tybalt - Meowlody. Apparently there is some minor conflicts between her and her twin, so she is her for the catharsis.

Lady Capulet - Heaths Burns.... This was that or detention and a word for the parent. He choose the first because he didn't want to lose his new Gamegore yet. But Mr. Where is seriously asking himself if this is a good idea....

Lady Montague - Gigi Grant. She just want to experience Theater, so a little role is best. Hope she will have a first good impression...

Benvolio - Toralei Stripes. This time, no mischief.... She just want to see the dynamics between the twins.

Balthasar - Ghoulia Yelps. She want to experience a new hypothetical mechanic for zombie's language on stage ! Mr. Where didn't have his word about that, because Mr. Rotter is the one whose class is concerned about the project.

Peter - Manny Taur didn't read anything about Romeo and Juliet, but this is his last chance to prove to Iris that he is a sentimental Monster.... He just hope is character is one of those who die.

Friar Laurence - Jackson Jeckyll. Well... This everyone's hope at least.

Abram and Friar John - Quill Tarantyno. Because hey, Backgrounders need love, too !

Gregory and Sampson - Astranova and Djinni Whisp Grant. Astranova is there for the experience, Djinni is just there because she know there will be some deep gay vibes between Spelldon and Kieran, and she don't want to lose or miss is bet with Casta.

Other Roles - You know, these benevolent souls are actually part of the few one who actually care about Shakespeare. But, Alas, with all the chaos that will probably occur very soon, I doubt that they will be recognized for such passion and bravery.... And there is no enough budget for backgrounders.

OTHERS

Technician and special effects - Invisi Billy, who is probably the secret nephew or blood-relative of the teacher at this point.

Prompter (aka. the litteral ghoul that save you're ass when you don't know you're text) - Scarah Screams. She will be so valuable for all that is going to happens.... Or maybe Invisi Billy will be too much of a distraction.

Fin or Bin: The Great Ace Attorney

I'm an Ace Attorney fan, having played through all six of the mainline games, watched the anime and the movie, and read some of the manga, and when these games were announced I remember my reaction was one of "huh, that's cool I guess". Each of the games up to that point had moved the story and characters forward in some way, and now here was a game that very specifically did not do that at all- starring instead Mr Wright's ancestor Ryunosuke Naruhodo as he traveled to Victorian-era Britain and had nothing at all to do with the series chronology otherwise. It felt distinctly non-essential to me, a fun side-game that, if you missed it, you didn't really miss anything.

And that's a mighty shame because now I've started it, I am HOOKED. Solving murders as Naruhodo-san has just as much of that addictive 'a-ha!' juiciness as it does with Mr Wright, while the new setting lets them tell stories that modern forensics would solve too easily.

One somewhat disappointing thing is that (mild spoilers for the first two cases) we haven't had a nice villain takedown yet. The resolutions to the first two cases both feel a little hollow, a victory with a sour spin; compare that for instance to the first case of Apollo Justice where you get to really nail the rotter and feel like the king of the universe when he's finally taken down, it's definitely missing the catharsis of other games in the series. That said, I'm aware that these two games (I'm only playing the first one for now) build up to something spectacular, and I have no doubt it will be worth the wait.

Finally, Herlock Sholmes.

It sure is making me nostalgic for the rest of the series. I recently acquired an exercise bike for dirt-cheap, and these games are absolutely perfect for that. Maybe once I'm Finished here, I'll check in with Ryunosuke's great-great-great-grandson again.
