I really hate how marvel and disney looked at Ms. Marvel and decided to do everything in their power to give this show a difficult time— like they wanted it to do poorly. (Don’t get me wrong- Ms. Marvel is fantastic! The acting is stellar, the production and set design is incredible. The show is a breath of fresh air.) But:

Ms. Marvel is the ONLY marvel series to premiere new episodes on the same day as another show on Disney+ (Obi Wan Kenobi.) That limits viewership— it puts one show against the other. And then Marvel/Disney also decided to release Multiverse of Madness to Disney+ on the same day they release new episodes for both Obi Wan and Ms. Marvel. Limiting viewership once again. Why not release Obi Wan or MoM on a different day of the week?? Wednesdays have been the day for Marvel for over a year now, ever since Loki premiered.

I mean, I am yet to come across a single Ms. Marvel post today, while my dash has been flooded with MoM posts. And, not to mention the overall lack of promotion for the show in comparison to Loki, which received promotion above and beyond any other show. They certainly (purposely) undersold Ms. Marvel, which is just a shame because it’s one of their best shows.

I’m not saying I’m surprised Marvel/Disney is doing this, because I’m not surprised at all at this point, but it’s just really disappointing. Ms. Marvel deserves so much more attention than it’s getting.

Rewatching Eternals rn and I just have to say, it’s a shame more people don’t see the beauty and value in this movie. This movie is about moral conflict, about finding yourself, and about love. Eternals has the most stunning visuals we’ve seen from any MCU product thus far, is filled with genuine and powerful representation, and overall it’s an incredible movie. Yes, it has any flaws, but so does everything else marvel has put out. And I really, really recommend that people take the time to watch this movie and then give it the appreciation it deserves!

I know this was pointed out in the show but I need to emphasize it again: Marc’s psyche fragmented to include Steven to protect him (Marc) from the pain and abuse and trauma he had and was still experiencing. Steven was Marc’s protector. Whenever Marc got overwhelmed, he turned to Steven for solace and safety.

And in the end, when Marc was being attacked and in danger, what did Steven do? He protected him, without thought, without hesitation, he protected him.

Steven’s last act was to save Marc, again.

Hey, your cross stitch pattern is so wonderful and you are such an angel to do all that work and let people use it for free I was wondering if you have any cross stitch advice, recommendations for frames to use, what count of aida you prefer, etc? I have done a lot of cross stitch but nothing very big, so I’d love any thoughts you have from your experience. Once again, you are amazing, have a wonderful day! Xx

hey thank you! it’s just such a broad field, you know? i can tell you i’m using q-snaps, i’m using 25 ct lugana though i think after this i can say i prefer an 18 or 20 ct aida (the lugana is so soft though which i have really enjoyed). i prefer the antique white to the white-white. I don’t have a stand but i’m looking into getting a lowery, they’re just so pricey. if you’re looking at q-snaps instead of hoops DON’T go with the knock-off brands, use a real q-snap. i like the plastic hoops better than the bamboo hoops generally. i like a 26 size needle but i’m not picky as to the brand (bohin is what i use when i have a choice but i’m not fussy). i get all my fabric and needles and if i’m using a professional made pattern, the dmc skeins from www.everythingcrossstitch.com. i like tent stitching but i admit i have had some struggles with warping that i think would probably be lessened if i were doing a full-cross. i start in the bottom left hand of my pattern and work my way up (i used to start in the top left, but i have been enjoying the bottom left). i want to start stitching on the diagonal instead of across. i use a bit of a modified cross-country but as i move through the GO pattern i want to start stitching diagonally and parking the black color instead of doing all the outlining first and filling in - i think it’ll go faster in the long run.

oh gosh. i mean, i’m not counting villains bc there’s complexities there re: appreciating a character vs liking them, etc., and i’m only thinking chars who are in more than one ep bc if i counted every char who was important in a motw ep then it would be h*tler without a question and that’s no fun. but honestly i think it’s the eleventh doctor lol. yeah every doctor counts as a separate char bc that’s how bad he was i cant reconcile him w the good ones

season 4 but reluctantly. love that sweet sweet character depth and that satisfying narrative arc but the lack of tim is a big drawback. season 3 is a close second, for all the sweet sweet character depth and also a really good story, and also tim is there contributing to both of those things and i like that.

how did you become interested in #3?

i just talked abt this the other day actually! i was 17, it was my first semester of college, i was depressed and living away from my parents for the first time and very very alone, both emotionally and physically more often than not, so i thought why not take this time to watch this show that everyone’s been raving abt since i was born. at worst it’ll pass the time yk. and it did better than that!

there are 144 eps of buffy and that’s easy. and with the maths i just did, counting all davids specials as one ep each except the end of time is 2 eps, including xmas specials and the 50th anniversary, there are exactly 144 eps of dw thru the end of series 10. however, i also watched series 11, which brings the total to 155, so the answer is dw.

if you could be anyone from #4, who would you be?

mmmmmm i wanna say spock but thats more the answer to who i would be if i were a char from star trek, as opposed to if i could be anyone. if i could be anyone of my choice i would be james t. kirk. everyone loves him and he is pretty and charismatic and bold and i could use some of that

i would literally kill to see buffy and kirk bonding over heroic anecdotes and hair care and sparring while spock teaches willow how to control her emotions and bones puts xander in a medically induced coma. dream crossover

1. do you make your bed? Yes, I use it as a station for most of the day because of my disabilities, so I make it once I awaken. 2. what’s your favorite number? Not sure I have one. Three, I suppose. 3. what’s your job? Artist and author. ^_^ 4. can you parallel park? I have not driven in a long time, but yes, when I had a car I could parallel park. I learned how to do it out of necessity because I lived in an apartment complex with “open” parking. If you arrived home late, all the spaces would be taken and you would have to fend for yourself outside the complex. I would sometimes have to park as many as two blocks away and it was all parallel. 5. a job you had that would surprise people? I worked for Disney as a travel agent. I also once worked for a party company as a singing princess. 6. do you think aliens are real? I think the galaxy is too large for aliens not to be real. 7. can you drive a manual car? Not at all! Driving is stressful enough for me, I don’t need MORE things to think about while I’m doing it. 8. what’s your guilty pleasure? Reading and writing BDSM. 9. tattoos? None. I could never find anything I liked enough that I would want it on my body forever. 10. favorite color: Jewel tones in red, blue, purple, and green. 11. things people do that drive you crazy: People who smack their lips when talking. Chewing with mouth open. Adding the phrase “you know what I’m saying” at the end of sentences. Using too many ‘filler’ words such as ‘like’ and ‘you know.’ People who talk too much in general and over-explain everything (my father does this and it irritates the hell out of me). 12. any phobias? Not sure. There are things that squick me out, but I’m not sure if there’s anything that could be termed a full-fledged phobia. 13. favorite childhood sport? I was always terrible at all sports. I liked riding my bike, though. 14. do you talk to yourself? I sometimes sing to myself, I almost always have some song in my head, but talking I generally do in my head. 15. what movies do you adore? Clue, Down With Love, The Holiday, Groundhogs Day, there are more but my mind always goes blank when I try to think of more. 16. do you like doing puzzles? They are fun to do with my mom on occasion. 17. favorite kind of music? I really enjoy most music, particularly classic rock and alternative, but I have never really enjoyed rap. To me, it’s poetry to a beat, not music. Music requires a melody, IMO. 18. tea or coffee? I like both, but if I had to choose, I’d take coffee. 19. what was the first thing you remember you wanted to be when you grew up? Probably a ballerina. Then we found out I can’t dance. So sad.

It’s extremely hard, as a telly addict, to pick only five shows, so I’ve gone withe first 5 that came to mind. In no particular order:

Doctor Who (BBC) Good Omens (Amazon Prime/BBC) Ashes To Ashes (BBC) Unforgotten (ITV) This Country (BBC)

Who is your favourite character in #2? Crowley, by the merest smidge.

Who is your least favourite character in #1? Oh blimey! I’l certainly get into trouble with this one if I’m not careful. Should I admit it? *wrings my hands* No, it’s best that I don’t.

What is your favourite episode of #4? Oooh err.... probably the finale of S1 

What is your favourite season of #5? Being British and above the age of 25, I don’t use the word ‘season’ about TV unless I really really have to. Anyway, I’ll opt for the third series.

What is your favourite episode of #3? Obviously the bank vault episode in S1 has a special place in my heart, but the very last episode, in S3, where we found out the truth was gripping 

What is your favourite episode of #5? Really tricky to choose but I’m plumping for Kerry joining the book club.

How long have you watched #1? It might shock you to know it’s been 57 years. 

How did you become interested in #3? I hadn’t been very impressed by “Life On Mars” when it started, but seeing Philip Glenister in “Cranford” persuaded me to give this sequel a go. I ended up loving every minute of it. 

Who is your favourite actor in #4? I’ve loved Nicola Walker for decades, and Sanjeev Bhaskar  has a very special place in my heart, having seen him in person, so I’ll opt for both of them.

Which do you prefer, #1, #2, or #5? Well… 1+2 win over 5. But IF I had to choose, I suppose it’d be logical to choose 1 since Doctor Who has dominated my life since S4. 

Which show have you seen more episodes of, #1 or #3? Definitely more of no. 1, hands down. 

If you could be anyone from #4, who would you be? This is a mean question because most of the people in this have had horrible lives. IF I had to choose, at least  DCI Cassie Stuart gets to quaff glasses of wine with Peter Egan (weird to think he was a bit of a heart throb when he starred alongside Penelope Wilton in “Ever Decreasing Circles”).

Would a crossover between #3 and #4 work? Yes, because in some respects police officers solving crimes and/or murder mysteries are involved. Not sure how Cassie would react to Gene Hunt though. 

Pair two characters in #1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple? I think I already do this on a daily basis by putting Donna Noble with the Tenth Doctor; but I also think she’d be pretty great with the Twelfth Doctor, the Ninth Doctor or the Eighth Doctor.  

Which show has the better storyline, #3 or #5? These two shows have very different approaches so it’d be unfair to compare them like this. However, “Ashes To Ashes” had me gripped from the first episode. 

Which show has better theme music, #2 or #4? I can’t even remember the music during “Unforgotten” without rewatching an episode, so I’ll definitely have to choose “Good Omens” for this one.

After a year away, I can now present the 2019 AO3 Ship Stats Top 100!

This list shows the 100 pairing tags with the most fanfics posted on Archive Of Our Own as of July 24 2019. There are 69 M/M pairings, 19 F/M, 3 F/F, 5 Gen and 4 Other. (Please note that on AO3, ‘Name & Name’ indicates platonic or familial ‘Gen’ relationships, while ‘Name/Name’ is used for romantic and sexual pairings.)

Of the 200 names on the list, 25 belong to women and 4 to characters of indeterminate gender, compared to 28 and 3 respectively in the 2017 list. There are 46 POC and 8 racially ambiguous characters, compared with 41 and 10 last year.
