backstory:

born the middle kid sibling of piers and marnie, he grew up in spikemuth with a love of music and pokemon (especially "darker"/"creepier" ones), helping raise marnie with piers when their parents passed.

he lived a pretty normal life, or as normal as he could with a gym leader brother in a run down town in galar.

at 18, he began training to become a music teacher, moving to paldea at 21 when he got his teaching licence, mostly privately tutoring people due to there not being a position open at uva academy at the time.

he briefly met professor turo and began a whirlwind romance with the older man during this time.

when he was 23, however, he lost all contact with turo randomly, occasionally going out of his way to make sure arven had whatever he needed, though feeling awkward around the whole situation between them.

during the restaffing of uva academy, they were called by director clavell after finding out that silas had already previously applied for a position.

extra:

since operation starfall, they've been doing music therapy sessions with the team star bosses to try and help them work through their issues. (very much in a mr schneebly school of rock kind of way).

they often visit galar again to see their family and friends back there, though also tend to send over extra cash to help out their family.

has been playing guitar since he was 10, insisting on piers teaching him.

he was gifted his iron valiant from professor turo a few months before his disappearance, though told to keep them a secret.

his first pokemon he ever caught was a shiny galarian zigzagoon (now obstagoon), at age 5, because he was worried that the pokemon was sick due to the odd colouration and wanted to take it home to piers to try and help it get better. yes, he got scratched up by the little pokemon but he didn't care, he was already bawling his eyes out with worry. since then the duo were inseparable.

despite his cool rocker exterior, he's a massive softie for his students (especially the team star bosses), and will always be the first to advocate for them if something goes wrong.

when he comes back from galar, he sneaks penny sweets and such back from there if she ever seems homesick.

has a drawer of stim toys in his classroom just in case for any neurodiverse students.
