Akudama Drive and Danganronpa Cross Over in Animedia Cover Art

  The iconic character designs of Rui Komatsuzaki come together on the cover of the latest Animedia magazine, celebrating two major anime and game world events currently underway!

  The cover of the January issue features art by Komatsuzaki of characters from this season's Akudama Drive and game series Danganronpa. The games are currently celebrating their 10th anniversary with mobile game ports, an anniversary series hosted by Megumi Ogata, and crossovers with other properties. As part of the festivities, the magazine will include a celebratory feature on the two series.

    Gracing the back cover are the stars of media mix project Paradox Live, who also get featured in the mag's interior.

    The issue also includes coverage of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Mr. Osomatsu, D4DJ First Mix, A3!, the upcoming Fate/Grand Order films, and more.

  The January issue of Animedia hits newsstands on December 10.

Post 0098: NHK Released Japans Top 100 Anime of All Time by usotaku

Ok so it might not be a secret but some of my blog ideas come from sources like YouTube and this one is no exception. So giving credit where it's due, I wouldn't have known about this if Joey, aka TheAnimeMan, hadn't posted a video about it. Now how this one slipped by my not so well tuned radar is no mystery since I'm not yet plugged in to all the best sources for this info but I goggled it after watching the vid and wanted to share it. 

Recently a survey was done in Japan to name the top 100 anime of all time and some of the results are a bit surprising. Now I haven't seen every anime on this list and I'm happy to see at least 3 of my all time favs represented and some anime I've watched recently that were really good but I also thought they would sit higher in the list. 2. What’s your favorite anime opening?

FUCK this how is a poor me supposed to choose... No clue let’s say Dragon Ball GT (English) opening because it holds a lot of sentimental value.

3. Do you believe in aliens?

I mean I suck at math but it must be pretty bloody unlikely that in the whole wide universe we’re the only living organisms.

4. How about ghosts?

No except when I hear people’s stories firsthand, then I do. Then I’ll go back to not believing in like thirty minutes lmao

5. Which fictional universe would you like to live in?

You don’t understand how much thought I’ve put into this ever since elementary school!! I always try to pick those where normal civilians (not the heroes the stories focus on) are relatively safe. At the moment I could mention Boueibu because it’s very much our world + intergalactic television which the background plebs don’t know about. And there would be a chance to meet my faves, if just off-screen :D

6. Which fictional character would you like to meet and why?

Alright you know what? You know what. Karamatsu. I would fucking meet fucking Karamatsu I don’t give a shit let me test my limits with the blue sequin man.

I discovered Matsustuck recently and it’s great, it captures the overall atmosphere of BOTH OSOMATSU-SAN AND HOMESTUCK PERFECTLY  and holy shit

8. Ever read a line in fanfic that made you reconsider canon?

Most likely? Can’t think of any examples atm but yeah I’m pretty sure I have at some point.

9. Which super power would you like?

I’ll never give up on my dream of being able to fly miss me with that reasoning of why so many abilities would be ore useful

10. Are you good with kids?

No;;; A few years ago I was an instructor on a few children’s camps and they went pretty well but usually, no. Babies are known to start crying from glancing at my face.

I was on a massive Lovely Complex mood yesterday so I’ll rec it! It’s my favorite romantic comedy that goes from rivals to friends to unrequited crush to a couple and doesn’t end in the getting together, and it’s an absolute delight the whole time :D plus Seiko the best girl

4. This may sound weird but what do you think about mashed potatoes on hotdogs?

I’ve never heard of this what the fuck

5. Do you like pringles?

OH YES ABSOLUTELY

I love dandelions please don’t be a bitch and tell me they’re weeds I’ve grown up surrounded by adults I know

He’s adorable and wonderful and I’d love to befriend him but I have good canon reasons to believe he acts very differently around girls than his male friends and no I don’t want him to play this Charismatic Mr. Worlwide I want the real dorky hothead

8. What do you think about Ryuu in dresses/skirts?

He looks great in them and apparently feels too, he should wear them more often

9. What about him in flowers in his hair?

I’m sensing a pattern here really one of Ryuu’s best qualities is how he embraces everything cute and pretty without shame so of course flowers in his hair is great

10. Favourite moment in anime?

Is this about... any anime in general... or something specific? we all know what that something specific is Not that it really matters Ryuu and Io having a massive fight that was basically all “no I love you more” is the greatest thing to happen in animation history

Oh FUCK idk my denim backpack?? Do I even own it strictly speaking it’s mom’s and I just took a liking to it a few years ago and have been holding it ever since and it’s not like mom got it in COMPLETELY convenient way either, somebody had left it in a locker room in a school she used to go to and it was there for weeks and nobody seemed to miss it so mom just picked it up

Ah, October. Crisp autumn breezes blowing through a myriad of red, orange, yellow and green leaves hanging off tree branches. Pumpkin spice and the rise and excitement for spookiness. The days grow progressively longer and we’re beginning to reach the end of 2017.

And you know what else?

If you follow Crunchyroll and other anime-related social media accounts as well as anime youtubers like me, you know that the Fall 2017 anime season has already begun, with new shows being aired this week.

Glancing at the ever trustworthy Anichart, I’ve noticed that a chunk of the anime airing are sequels to some popular series as well as some interesting manga I’ve taken notice of getting animated adaptations (cue in the happy cries of online otaku fandoms everywhere).

Continuations of Anime We Love (Because They Know We’ll Continue To Bleed Money Over Them)

Most of the second seasons or succeeding seasons for some anime titles are on my “Definitely Need To Watch This” list:

Spicing up with some more drama, I have no doubt.

Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara (Food Wars! The Third Plate) — I don’t think there’s a clear reason for me to not (want to) watch this preceding season of this popular funny and slightly raunchy shonen anime about food and cooking competitions in a high school setting. #foodorgasmsfordays

Definitely more drama in our future for this show and I cannot wait to be torn apart.

Sangatsu No Lion 2 (March Comes in Like a Lion 2) — Appealing for my love for slice-of-life and drama genre, I know that this second installment to the series will focus more on the relationships and ties between the characters. #feelswillfeltforsure

I’m always down for more Zapp and Klaus.

My need for moar screaming fish plants have been answered.

If my article over their mobile game didn’t convince you that I like the humour and characters in this series, then I don’t know what else I can say.

  Kekkai Sensen & BEYOND (Blood Blockade Battlefront), Hoozuki No Reitetsu 2 (Cool-Headed Hoozuki 2) and Osomatsu-san 2 (Mr. Osomatsu 2) — To be perfectly honest about these three series, I feel like their first season was enough. The ending of Kekkai Sensen was rushed but oddly felt fitting as an ending for such a wild ride of a storyline that wasn’t episodic (and now that I think about it, was just really chaotic in its development). This new season may fill in the plot hole with Leonardo’s sister and what he can do to fix her situation. On the other hand, Hoozuki No Reitetsu and Osomatsu-san are purely comedic shows and if there are enough ideas generated for a non-episodic/one-shot collection of stories with a general plot, then why kill the machine if it functions well and makes money, right?

Hype Train Highlights (The Ones Ads And People Have Never Shut Up About) 

I’m so ready for this one, y’all already know.

Mahoutsukai No Yome (The Ancient Magus’ Bride) — I was loving this series before the hype train and I know that sounds so a-typical of an otaku who read the manga before the announcement of the anime adaptation to the point that it can come across as some elitist comment, but man, I am so down for watching Chise and Elias coming alive on screen. #justyaaasss

Juuni Taisen (Juni Taisen: Zodiac War) — When I first saw the trailer and understood the concept of this series, I was reminded of Etotama but this anime will be a whole lot more grittier as a battle royale competition between people representing the animals of the twelve Chinese zodiac. Also, the rap music video promo for this anime was hella sick and the character designs are so pretty.

Liking the art style for this series, but I do have to say I’m on the ropes for this one…

Urahara — Not to be confused for a certain handsome green and white stripped hat and sandal wearing science man from a certain shounen  anime, Urahara looks like it’ll be a fun colourful journey following three high schoolers defending Harajuku from alien invaders.

…I confess, I didn’t read the manga. Don’t hurt me please.

Black Clover — That one shounen anime that you’ll know will be a big hit. I figure why not watch it and find out if that’s the case.

From The Comic To Moving Images (Series I Kinda Picked Up And Then Never Read Again To A Certain Point And Now I Don’t Have To Because It Has An Anime) 

I just remember that this one was a sad one. ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚

Kujira No Kora Wa Sajou Ni Utau (Children of the Whales) — I remember picking up this series and being fascinated by the world the story was set in where we’re introduced to a post-apocalyptic realm and people live on floating islands above vast expanses of sand.

Another manga that I didn’t keep up with but was really interesting. #NotCrystalGems #JustGems

Houseki No Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) — Watching a show about androgynous yet feminine looking humanized crystals kicking butt? The idea is familiar, but the only thing is that this anime doesn’t have a hybrid human and gem lead character. The look of the anime compared to its OVA is the use of 3D animation which recently can work to enhance the storyline of a series or break it. In this case, I think it’s necessary to add it because of the action sequences in the story (from what I remember and from what was shown in the trailer). Also, the opening theme by YURiKA is a gem in and of itself.

Inuyashiki (Last Hero Inuyashiki) — A story about a 58-year old getting killed in an accident and finding out that he’s no longer human after the incident? Sounds pretty fantastic.

I hope this one won’t be too depressing.

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou (Girls’ Last Tour) — In a post apocalyptic world, two young girls journey alone together as the last humans on earth. With its seemingly innocent look in its trailer, this will break my kokoro to pieces and be considered the new Made in Abyss of the season.

In the coming weeks, I hope to have time to watch all these shows and give my impressions in the form of a blog post or barfing all my feels on Twitter.

Who knows really.
