oh yeah, this site has a lot of papercrafts, the link above leads to a tag of yokai watch themed ones. there's a downloadable PDF for each.
oh my god that Manjimutt.
your favourite yokai may not be on there but still, an impressive number of the little guys. maybe it'll inspire you to make your own?
edit: there's a few paper crafts missing from the new site so I hosted ones I saved on google drive:
it includes:
Katie Forester / Fumika Kodama
Mermother / Izanami
Leadoni / Michibiki
Casanuva / Motemacool
Directator / Mr. Movien
Snee / Muramasa*
Tengu
Dame Dedtime / Tokio Ubaune*
Infour / Yotsume
Mermadonna / Yaobikuni*
*includes preview image of how it looks assembled. the rest don't have previews so you're just gonna have to go by your gut feeling when putting them together.
If vayashis11 reuploads the PDFs on their site, I'll take these down. have fun!

Weird question, but did you do Directator/Mr. Movien yet?
I have not, but I think I'll have to turn this request down. There are several aspects to Directator's design that remind me of caricatures of Black folks (the pronounced lips, the hairstyle, the eyes, the large ears; especially all put together – it's a recurring issue within this series), and so I am uncomfortable with drawing this youkai. Thank you for understanding

A little bit of existential horror! Clodzilla is apparantly NOT actually a bad actor who died, but a yokai spawned from his abandoned costume that just..somehow remembers being that human even though he wasnt?? Like did this guy's soul just split into two or something? Is he a clone of him? Wtf would happen if the two of them met??? Like fuckin imagine how scary it would be to wake up eternally trapped in your costume, but then you see LITERALLY YOURSELF walking past and you open up your zipper to find nothing inside
WHY DID YOU RAISE ALL THESE QUESTIONS, YOKAI WATCH
Anyway, Directator has a lil montage of parodying various godzilla sequel names
Yaaay even the AD assistant dudes came back!! They seem rather off in this episode though, theyre not as animated actually doing stuff and instead are more like stock images filling space in the background. Not a single line of dialogue :(
I guess this is whats to be expected from Directator just being a small supportibg role ib this episode but still im like GIVE ME MORE OF MY BOYYY
Predictably, Clodzilla keeps messing up his takes. Although this time its cos he tries too hard to avoid failing that he ends up being the worlds most polite dinosaur with zero intimidation factor
But Directator loves it all! He was such a good choice to cheer up a failing actor, his sense of cinematography is so completely bonkers that its no wonder he instantly became Clodzilla's biggest fan!
Wiggly boy

"Eehehehehe~ Go on~ Say it." "....what's updog." Ringing in the new year with these two. Hoaxy-Coaxy annoying his more movie-inclined offspring because he’s a dork like that. @jinmenkennel did the very rough sketch of this a couple months back and I liked it so much I tightened it up and colored it.

Yokai Watch 3 ver. 3.0 Translation
(Masterpost for my Yokai Watch translations can be found here)
This will contain spoilers for a sidequest of Yokai Watch 3 (ver. 3.0), so proceed with caution.
With that being said, this will be a translation of the entire “The Local Yōkai's Village Revitalization” sidequest.
I think when the 3.0 Update was first released, this was one of the new quests that quickly gained a lot of attention, for reasons that are probably obvious. Overall I enjoyed it quite a lot myself, it has fun character interactions. It’s cute.
I go through these scene by scene. (There will be links to watch the scenes on youtube, too.)
Bolded is original Japanese; for reference and in case someone who is better at Japanese than I reads this, and feels like correcting something.
Bolded and italicized is my translation.
(Number) Indicates I got a specific comment to make on that part in the translation notes.
Please keep in mind that I´m a beginner when it comes to Japanese, so it’s possible that I make mistakes, too.

That heroine will attent a small school in the village!
And a peaceful train station that connects the countryside and the city... all the village children yearn for the city!
And in order to make the story mysterious, we will also need a holy place, like a shrine or temple!
I also want a place from which you can see the entire village. The summit of a mountain would be perfect for that!
Alright, got it! We're gonna go look!
Notes:
In the Japanese version, Harry Barry is called Kemamon, which is, of course, a reference to Kumamon. Related to that, Harrisville is called Kemamoto in Japanese, a reference to Kumamoto.
In the Japanese version, Harry Barry ends his sentences with ケマ/kema, which is derived from his name. He also uses his own name to refer to himself instead of using a first-person pronoun.
The term he uses to refer to the revitalization of the village is 村おこし/mura okoshi in Japanese. This is a term that from what I can tell refers to a type of community building that is specifically focused on rural villages, often to try and make up for most of the younger people moving out to live in larger cities, leaving mostly elderly people in the villages.
聖地巡礼/Seichi Junrei is a Japanese term that literally translates to Pilgrimage to Holy Places, but is nowadays used by some Japanese fans of pop culture (and some non-Japanese fans of Japanese pop culture) in the way that Whisper explains a bit later.
Nate here uses hiragana to spell the word instead of kanji, which in this case is likely a visual cue used to indicate that he doesn’t know the word at all. He understood how it’s pronounced based on hearing it, but not what it means.
In the Japanese version, Mr. Movien slightly drags out the endings of his sentences (like -desu and -masu, for example) and they’re written in katakana, implying he pronounces them a bit unusual, which in this manner is often used to imply that a person has an accent. Adding to that, he occasionally uses English words, implying his first language is supposed to be English. I’m a bit less sure about this next part, but from what I can tell his manner of speaking is also rather formal, which is somewhat common with foreigners, as they’re more likely to learn formal, “text book” Japanese first.

Showing Mr. Movien the School:
If it’s a school in Harrisville that we need, that can only be this place, yes?
Yeah, it's perfect as a small school!
OK! We will be using this as a location!
This wooden, old school building has great character!!
The days spend talking about fashionable city cafes with one’s childhood classmates...
Mmm~! It is the best! I can downright picture it ! (1)
Note:
I'm a bit unsure if I got the second line here right.
--
Showing Mr. Movien Grandma's House:
Grandma's house would be perfect as a big old house!
OK! We will be using this as a location!
Hmm... The peaceful every day life of the heroine and her little sister... and their grandma...
We will take some very nice shots here!!
Good!
--
Showing Mr. Movien Mt. Middleton Summit:
How about Mt. Middleton Summit here as the village-overlooking mountain summit!
Yeah! The view is great!
OK! We will be using this as a location!
The protagonist will look over the village from here, and make his decision!
There is no doubt that this will be a moving scene!
--
Showing Mr. Movien the Temple of Virtue:
The only temple in this village is the Temple of Virtue, kema. Can this be the holy place, kema?
I think that should probably be alright, but...
OK! We will be using this as a location!
Ideally, a shrine would have been the best, but a temple is also completely OK! (1)
The Temple of Virtue, which has existed in this village since long ago, is watching over everyone in it.
For the heroine and the others, this is an absolutely indispendable place!
Wow, I'm kinda getting excited!
Note:
The word I translated as shrine here is 神社/Jinja which does translate to shrine, but usually refers to Shinto shrines specifically.
--
Showing Mr. Movien Harrisville Station:
A peaceful train station that connects the countryside and the city... That's Harrisville station!
OK! We will be using this as a location!
The heroine, longing for the city, her heart filled with excitement, takes her first step towards it...
This station is perfect for this super important scene!
It'll be great for PR if Harrisville Station is used for an important scene, kema!
--
After having decided on all the Locations:
With that, we found all the locations!
Now, I will surely be able to create a masterpiece!
We did it, Nate!
However, a movie will not be a hit with just scenery alone!!
The next point is "music" that will appeal to young people, too!
We will make several theme songs, and also aim to appear on Yōkai Kōhaku! (1)
Ohhh!!! An appearance on Yōkai Kōhaku, whis?
If the music is meant to fit this movie masterpiece, then, stubborn, cool music would be nice, kema! (2)
Yes! That's right!!! (3)
With that being said, please go search for artist candidates to sing the theme song...
... in the place that's at the forefront of the Yōkai World, New Yōma City!
Search for them... Can we even find them that easily...?
Do not worry! I have already set my eyes on a few people!
First of all, I am interested in a wild singer with a fierce roar, just like a gorilla!
We cannot forget a certain VIP that even appears on Yōkai Kōhaku despite being a shut-in, either! (4)
I am also interested in the most rocking yōkai rapper of Club MONGEE! (5)
Moreover, the Busters Captain, characterized by his toned body, would be nice, too!
And one more thing, "While he looks strict, he enjoys music"... Because of those rumors, call that certain 'chairman' as well!
Please contact those 5 people!
Alright, got it!
Now then, let's head to New Yōma City!
Notes:
Yōkai Kōhaku is a reference to Kōhaku Uta Gassen or simply “Kōhaku“, a Japanese annual music show that is very popular in Japan.
The word Harry Barry used here that I translated as stubborn is もっこす/mokkosu, which can be translated as stubborn, and I think this is probably a reference to 肥後もっこす/Higo Mokkosu which, from what I understand, is a term the people of Kumamoto (Higo being an old name for Kumamoto) use to refer to their stubborn, honest attitude that they are proud of.
This entire line is literally in English.
The word I translated as shut-in here is ひきこもり/Hikikomori in Japanese, which actually is commonly translated as shut-in, and that is rather close to its meaning, but it’s not exactly the same. Of course, this term is also where Hidabat’s Japanese name Hikikōmori is derived from.
もんげー/Mongee is of course the expression that the Koma Brothers frequently use. It is actually a pre-existing term in the Japanese language, and thus normally I'd just translate it literally, but at this point it feels like “mongee” specifically is so attached to the characters, so I decided to leave it as is. “Mongee” is a contraction of ものすごい/monosugoi, and could literally be translated as something like awesome or terrific and the like. From what I understand it’s part of the Oyakama Dialect, spoken in the Okayama Prefecture, though I have also read some people stating is isn’t as common there as some people think. Of course, the boom of the Yokai Watch franchise has caused more people to use it in general.
--
Talking to KJ:
YO! Hey! Nate! Ready to rock, YO? (1)
Nate: KJ! KJ! Would you like to go to an audition for a bit?
YO! Sounds good! Let's do it, YO!
YO? But , what kind of audition is this, YO? Is there a rap contest too, YO?
It's to find the yōkai that'll sing the theme song for the movie that Movien's making this time!
YO! Mongee!? Mr. Movien!? Y’all... I mean, you guys really want me for it, YO!? (2)
'Course I'm gonna join, YO! I'll give it my all! Check it out!
Notes:
Technically in the Japanese version here, all the “YO” parts are mostly just normal sentence endings, but they’re written out in roman letters to give emphasis to them, and you know, invoke the kind of “Yo!” that might be associated with rappers and the like.
Here KJ biefly slips back into his more “country” accent, saying “mongee”, and also using the first-person pronoun オラ/Ora, before correcting himself and switching back to オ/Ore, with the former being a corruption of the latter, associated with “hickish” characters.
--
Talking to Hidabat:
A shut-in VIP... that should be Hidabat, right...?
Say, Hidabat, have you ever been to the Yōkai Kōhaku?
Yes... I get invited every year. What about it?
Ohh! Bingo, whis!
See, it's about the new movie that Movien is making this time...
There’s gonna be an audition for the yōkai that'll sing the theme song for that movie!
So, we we're wondering if you would like to audition too, Hidabat...
.
I would prefer an audition on live television or the like, however... (1)
But I cannot be saying that if he is the one involed. I will be participating. (2)
Alright! Thanks!
Notes:
I’m unsure if I got this line right.
“He” refers to Mr. Movien, in case you’re confused.
--
Talking to Sergeant Burly:
With 'Busters Captain' he can only have meant Sergeant Burly, whis!
Oh, if it isn't Nate! What's up? You've come to train, too?
Uh... N-no, today I'm here to talk.
We're trying to find the yōkai that will sing the theme song for the movie that Movien is making.
You were also picked as a candidate, so why don't you join the audition, Sergeant Burly?
What!? Really!? Of course I'll join!
I'll train my whole body even more before the audition starts!
Yeah! Do your best!
--
Talking to Sing Kong:
A wild singer... Movien must've been talking about this yōkai!
Yo, baby! Did you come to listen to my songs?
Today I've come to inform you about an audition.
An audition?
Yeah! Movien decided to make his next movie, and...
...we're tryint to find the yōkai that'll be singing its theme song!
Uhohohoooh! Interesting!
I'm gonna join that audition too, baby!
Thank you!
--
Talking to Nurarihyon:
A certain chairman... Maybe he was talking about Nurarihyon?
Oh come now, Nate. Could you imagine this gentleman singing passionately?
Rather, you can't say if he's good or bad, and with ‘an excellent, delicate singing voice’, the punchline is... (1)
Hoho... Now that is unacceptable.
Allow me to let you hear my song, the one with which I won the Yōkai Council Karaoke Contest, long ago...
Whaaat!?
Nurarihyon: … ...That was a joke, I will not be singing here. But why did you bring up this story about singing?
You... You see, we're looking for a yōkai to sing the theme song for the next movie that Movien is making...
If you're good at singing, maybe you could audtion too, Nurarihyon...
Understood, I will participate. A... Altough I am truly busy.
Nate: … ...You don't have to force yourself if you're busy.
I... I said I do not mind, did I not? Please contact me as soon as the schedule has been decided.
Nate: … ...S-sure.
Note:
I probably got this line wrong, it’s kinda cut-off, and I think couldn’t properly understand an expression used in it.

Starting the Audition:
Thank you all for coming here! Now then...
Let the audition for the artist who will sing the new movie's theme song being!

The one to sing the theme song will be none other than me, the great Sing Kong! (1)

Mr. Movien: … ...We have a problem. I cannot decide on an artist at all!
As expected of the capable people of New Yōma City... It won't be that easy to decide...
This is taking too long, kema. You should just decide with Rock-Paper-Scissors, kema.
I just had an idea...
The theme song's artist will also receive the movie's leading role!
The leading role is a high school boy who lives in the city!!!
Everyone: !!!? !!!?
My, the leading actor in the main theme... This will attract a lot of attention, whis!
Uh... but, do you really think any of these would work in a"High School Boy role"...?
Who would work as the protagonist... I will now check them!
You are too muscular to be a high school student!
Damn it! Did I train too much...?
You do not fit the image of a protagonist!
Hidabat: そんな…!! No way...!!
Oh... Your wild scent is too strong!
Uhohooo!!!
High school students that are this handsome, with such silver hair... Do you believe those exist in reality?
Nurarihyon: … ...You have a point.
Ohhh...! This urbanized boyishness... It is perfect!!!
Mongeeeeee!?
YO!? Y-ya... n...no, I mean, you're making me the movie's protagonist, YO!? (3)
Amazing, KJ!! Congratulations!
YO! I'm kinda suprised that I got picked! Nate, this is also thanks to you, YO!
You're welcome!
YO! Finally the time has come for me and you to become sould friends, YO! (4)
Huh...? But... you already became friends with me ages ago, Komajiro...
My name is and will always be KJ! I'm established as a different person than Komajiro! (5)
Established, he says, oh boy...
Well! Nevermind the details, YO! Check it out! (6)
Nate: … KJ! ...Yeah! Let's be good friends from now on, KJ!
With that, we can start shooting on location! All concerned, please gather at Harrisville Station!
Notes:
Here, Sing Kong attaches the respectful suffix 様/-sama to his own name, showing a boastful ego.
“Best songs” as in, the songs they are the best at.
Here KJ slips up and uses Ora instead of Ore again.
The word I translated as soul friends is literally just that in Japanese, too. I am not exactly sure, but from what I can tell this soul friend is sometimes used to basically mean soulmate, both platonic and romantic? They probably had him use English words here to fit his “cool rapper” persona.
I’m unsure if I got this second line right, but from what I can tell, that’s basically it?
I think this might be a pun, since details here in Japanese is read as コマ/Koma.
--
At the Station:
With that, all members have gathered! We will now start shooting!
I'm ready! (1)
Oh, you're going to do the shooting with the Komajiro look?
That's right! I'm gonna do my best!
Harry Barry and the yōkai of Harrisville will help with the shooting as extras, kema.
Ohh! So if I were to be an extra, could I be in the movie, too...!?
What's wrong, Movien?
OH NO!!! I have forgotten something important!
I have not chosen the heroine that is crucial to the movie yet!!!
Everyone: !!!? !!!?
Whaaat!? But, if we don't have a heroine... doesn't that mean we can't start shooting!?
Mongeee! So this is where that movie Komajiro's gonna be in is gettin’ filmed!?
B... Big bro!? (2)
You've gotten really great, Komajiro!
Also, the air here's so tasty! Reminds me of our countryside.
Mr. Movien: …!!! ...!!!
T... T... That is it...!!!
That charming look and those simple country child mannerisms... (3)
And the chemistry with the lead is on point, too...
You are perfect for the role of the heroine!!!
Everyone: !!!? !!!?
You want Komasan... as the heroine!?
YES! There is no one better than this one!!
B... But I'm pretty sure Komasan is...
But you're a boy, big bro!? Are you gonna be alright as the heroine!?
Leave it to me!
That’s... He definitely doesn't understand what a heroine is, whis...
I'm mongee lookin’ forward to bein' in a movie with Komajiro!
With that... Let the shooting resume! 3... 2... 1... Start!
And thus the shooting began...
Mongee! This waiter outfit is lookin' good on you, Komajiro!
You can’t come over here, big bro! The camera's on!!
The shooting continued with the occasional accident happening...
Notes:
Here Komajiro switches back to his usual more “hickish” accent of course. Part of that is using ズラ/-zura in place of things like です/-desu and ます/-masu. This is a real thing in the Japanese language, which is why I don’t translate it literally. From what I have read, it’s used in the Nagano–Yamanashi–Shizuoka dialects.
Komajiro calls Komasan にいちゃん/Nii-chan in Japanese, a way to adress your older brother that indicates much familiarity.
Here Mr. Movien says that Komasan looks プリチー/pretty, but this “pretty” is also the Japanese name of the Charming Tribe, and since Komasan is of that very tribe, it might be a reference to that? So I translated it as charming, just in case.
--
After the Movie is completed:
YO! Big bro, big bro! It's unbelievable, YO!
YO! Our movie is a super big hit, YO!
Komasan: ズラ〜? Yeah?
The movie that you filmed just recently... It's already out!?
YO! It just got released the other day, YO!
You worked hard Komajiro, so I'm glad you're getting a lot of customers.
YO! It's more than just 'a lot', YO!
YO! It's become the second-highest grossing movie that was ever released in the entire Yōkai World, YO!
Komasan: もんげ〜〜〜!?!? Mongeeee!?!?!?
Ohh! It's also very, very, very popular on Oshirasetter! (1)
Look, look, they're even running a commerical to commemorate the big hit!
Note:
Oshirasetter is an app that yōkai use in order to exchange information. It’s name is derived from お知らせ/oshirase, which means notification or news.

Note:
This entire trailer is of course a reference to the movie Kimi no Na wa./Your Name, more speficially, it seem to be pretty much taken completely from this particular trailer of it. “Koma no Na ha.” being the second-highest grossing moviethat was ever released in the entire Yōkai World is also a reference to the success of “Kimi no Na wa.” in the real world.
The company logo at the start of this trailer is a reference to the Toho company, replacing the first Kanji of their name, “東/Tō“ with the “妖/ Yō“ from 妖怪/Yōkai.

Name: Rewrita/Riraito-san (リライトさん) Tribe: Shady (Legendary) Rank: S Attribute: Restoration Treat: Y-Cola Inspiritment in Battle: Rewritten Boost (gives allies a temporary boost in all stats) Soultimate Move: Healing Words (Heals all allies with 300 HP) Bio: Once a human girl that made alternate universe fanfiction, she spreads her joy of creating alternate universes, mostly inspiriting fanfiction writers. Evolutions: None Miscellaneous: - Design-wise, she originally had six arms, but because I found it too annoying to find room for six arms, I made her have four arms instead. - The arms hanging over her shoulders have one hand which is a piece of paper that always replenishes when she removes it (basically, neverending paper) and her other hand is just her fingers replaced with pencils. These are what she calls her 'writing' arms. - Her other arms are normal human arms that do the things that her 'writing' arms can't do; i.e: type, use a cell phone, eat, etc. - She worked for Mr. Movien once, but quit on her first day due to creative differences. - She travels to alternate demensions, which is how she gets her ideas, but her house is in the Yo-kai Realm. - She inspirits people by writing down an idea on a piece of paper and places the paper on their head. If they start to work on the idea, she considers it a sucessful inspirit. - She has helpers that help the people she's inspirited by developing ideas, headcanons, and the other stuff for an alternate universe. They look like storm clouds and they are Rewrita's version of Whisper. - She is a Whisper fangirl and not afraid to show it. - She often compares canon Nate to many other versions of him just to annoy him. - Her ghost tail is split to look like she has a pair of legs, although it is hard to tell when she's wearing long pants or a long skirt. - She doesn't wear shoes because she floats everywhere and sees no reason to walk unless she was disguising herself as a normal human. - Her Japanese name translates to Ms. Rewrite. - Rewrita runs a idea pitching studio, which annoys Mr. Movien because a lot of people have started going to her for movie idea evaluations instead of him. - Her closest friend is Willow the Mutonie, who also happens to work with her at the studio. - She has had alternate versions of characters hang around in her house due to her forgeting to close demesional portals once in a while.

Niche Yokai Watch blog; context below!
I know I mostly post Where's Waldo stuff, but I'm in a lot more Fandoms (Waldo just so happens to be my brainrot at the moment, ugh). I was planning to make an ask blog based on Yokai Watch, but.. um... like why I joined this Fandom, I have really, really, niche fav Yokai, both know for.. not very savory, clean as a whistle, crimes? Matter of, that is literally the only thing one of them is known for-
But, I have a few ideas for both their ask blogs
I have a few ideas for their ask blog
Atsushi Kamamoto (left)
* A potter turned idol scout turned Yokai who lost himself after he failed his idol group after losing to another idol group in popularity. After the events of Episode 15 (I'll try to keep this spoiler free until the blogs have been finalized, but basically his whole crime was turning turning girls into mindless dolls to make the perfect idol group, obviously failing thanks to the Yokai Detective Agency and his past idols coming back to confront him abt their missing daughters) and he takes an aspiring idol under his wing, he finds out that he's broke, he's been broke ever since he died and became a Yokai. He's been trying to apply to several different jobs, but he can't really hold one up because he looks like a corpse. At least, until a certain yokai offers him a job in hairdressing. Good thing Atsushi's good with his hands.
Directator (Right)
* Once a very influential and aspiring film director when he was alive, he managed to thrive off in his afterlife as a Yokai, making cheap blockbuster flicks based on popular media. Average blog, but with lore bits (ik, not the most interesting, but whatever attracts a crowd)

Some explanation to these doodles: I headcanon that Moso Monmon is Mr. Movien’s father and that his wife is the Mushroom Lady NPC in YKW3 that practices mushroom hypnotism. Because what a better way to explain why Mr. Movien is so strange and powerful than by saying he was created from a Twin Peaks reference and a reality warping dream creature. It’s a very strange yet lovable family where it’s hard to say which one of them is the weirdest. And every member of said family has a funny cloud-shaped afro.
#sketches#yokai watch#yokai watch 3#moso monmon#mister movien#I know GGGGF made Moso but there wasn't anything say he didn't use a preexisting soul#Plus then that means Movien is Gogogo GF's grandson and that pleases me greatly#Movien just goes up to a mafia leader and is like 'hey gramps'#mr. movien#mushroom lady#mosomonmon#hoaxycoaxy#hoaxy coaxy
