Read-a-thon
cont. from an sns thread with the same name with @mpxinvidia
Ezra picked up their tote of the floor and went to the front to pay for the books they had picked. Ten pretty hefty ones, sure to keep the literature student entertained for the next couple of weeks.
As they stepped out of the store, ballparking the amount of books scattered around their home, their phone pinged.
Say less, be there in twenty
Remembering the mess that was the poet's entire appartment - books and notebooks scattered everywhere to start - Ezra's eyes widened. They thought the other would come around maybe tomorrow. Or a week from now. The Egyptian demigod quickly assesed the situation mentally, and came to the conclusion they could make their home presentable for guests if they hurried.
Cool, see ya then!
The young student made a quick stop at the grocery store for some snacks and cat food, then rushed home. Instead of just kicking their shoes off and leaving them where they landed, they put the pair of sneakers away on the shoe rack. And picked up one of the many stray books laying around. Eleven.
They made their way to the kitchen, opened a cabinet - twelve, thirteen, fourteen - and put some of the groceries away. Then they turned to the fridge - fifteen?! - to put away the drinks.
Risha greeted her owner with a soft meow, to which Ezra responded with a soft pat on her head. "Yea, yea, food's coming," they chuckled. First filling up the food bowl, then cleaning the cat's litter box.
Since company was coming over soon, the enby demigod left their bedroom for what it was and focused on the living room. Tidying it up generally. Picking up books, both read and unread, and putting them where they should go. The ones they had started - three, making eighteen - they left on the coffee table. The rest went back on the many shelves - twenty, making thirty-eight. Craming those books into the tiniest of empty spaces on their shelves, Ezra realized they probably needed more of them. They looked around trying to figure out where to create more space. But their apartment wasn't infinite...
That was gonna be a problem for future Ezra.
After making the living space presentable enough for a friend to come over, they turned on a kettle for tea and some music before starting the big count.

A starter to kick off The Thing™ and to have some fun between enemies with @mpxinvidia
Without the constant pain and grueling small talk workers feel obligated to start with him every time they check up on him, Maxim might’ve considered his stay as one of the most relaxing times in a long while. Unfortunately, it isn’t a good kind of relaxation where he has enough time and mobility to freely choose his activities. This feels much closer to a slow and most boring spiral to insanity he could think of, and the prospect of using his powers for entertainment again sounds like sweet relief. But he can’t.
Well—he could—but he isn’t particularly in a rush to anger any more demigods that might seek vengeance on him. The least he should do is wait until his wounds are fully healed.
So instead he rotates between staring out of his window for any kind of amusement, watching mindless TV shows and opening random apps on his phone just to close them again. It’s awfully boring seeing as how he can’t even use the time to sketch; an activity that could’ve preoccupied him for hours at a time and make his stay somewhat bearable.
But today is different.
Today will be bearable.
With a scoff, he locks his phone and tosses it onto the empty space on the mattress. Truth be told, he didn’t exactly mean to wreak havoc on the local social media platform but it sure distracted him from the monotony of his day for a while.
He holds down on the button on the remote to bring the upper half of the bed into an upright position to sit just in time for the door to open. But unlike all other times when he is met with doctors or nurses who come in to do whatever the fuck, this is one of the few times he’s actually glad to have a visitor.
The grin that rises to his lips is wider than it usually tends to be in the sinner’s presence, and Maxim simply chalks it up to the exciting prospect of a distraction. His preferred chaotic distraction, no less.
“Never thought I’d be happy to see your dumb face.” Despite their past, there is no pretense of animosity in his voice. After all, Invidia might frustrate or vex or even infuriate him but he’s never boring; a secret he does not care to share with his co-worker.
He raises his eyebrows to provide a touch of complacency to his expression, “Missed me?”

Catching Up With an Old Friend
@mpxinvidia
It's been a long time since Hephaestus saw his friend. He used to see Invidia a lot, but then that just dropped off as Hephaestus found himself busy with managing the store and the unexpected amount of work that came with that. While he'd given his employees the time off to hang out with friends and family once the holiday rush died out, he'd decided to take his own suggestion and catch up with Invidia.
He'd made his way over to Minx, remembering that the other worked there as a dancer. They could have a few drinks, catch up and chat like old times. Seeing his friend again, the God smiled widely. "long time! I haven't seen you in ages. You look really good!" he exclaimed, excited to see him

❝ For as long as my heart is allowed to sing ❞ ft. Invidia
Let's goooooooo. Gala post for the sweetest @mpxinvidia
Scheming. That's what could best describe Noel ever since the announcement was made. Planning, excessive amounts of planning on his part but everything had to be perfect!
He spent every waking minute calling, texting, looking for the things he needed, asked some friends for favors while dragging others (Kaya) into helping him as much as they could. He'd seen the perfect place, he'd been wanting to take Invidia there for a while anyway so the summer gala had come around at just the right time.
Everything was ready and he checked his phone one last time as he walked with the man he liked along the park, their linked hands swinging slightly with each step they took. There was a fluttering in his stomach and rather than feeling nervous, what he was looking forward was the look in his lover's eyes at his surprise.
"I can't give you any more hints, amor." Noel grinned, pulling on Invidia's hand to draw him closer. There was the subtle teasing that they always did, some kisses given and stolen in between and gentle caresses along the way. He'd asked the younger man to join him, tempting him with a treat he'd gotten just for the two of them. "You'll see."
He gave one last squeeze to Invidia's hand before subtly nodding to the small stained glass flowers near their path -- one was blue and one was red. a spider lily and a forget-me-not scattered before two more appeared, catching the sunlight as the sun was beginning to set. They shone like a different kind of stars in the grass, a starry trail leading up to the one gazebo he was able to find that was now covered nearly to the brim with flowers; hydrangeas, lavender and hibiscus bringing the structure to life under the pink and amber colored sky.
Not wanting to break the moment, he brought their hands up to his lips, kissing his lover's knuckles before nudging him forward to join him under the dangling flowers and crystals that caught the last rays of sunlight before them. "There's something I'd like to ask you, mi vida."

The new receptionist with a tail
starter for the radiant @mpxinvidia
Her last performance for the day went rather smoothly, especially considering it had been barely a couple of days since she'd be back working at Honeypot. After a month of leaving the island, Yeji was immensely thankful for being accepted back as a violinist in such a fantastic place. But there was no time to dwell on her gratitude, as Yeji needed to be on time for her very first shift alone, at her new job.
Going through the basics and being introduced to her desk by the owner before, Yeji still felt nervous but ultimately excited to start this little new adventure. The establishment was Babylon, the island's brothel. Surely some could think the change of jobs from seamstress to receptionist was abrupt, but after her time away from the island, Yeji wanted to achieve certain goals and the role made sense to her.
Yeji took a last glance at the mirror, making sure her hair and outfit were on point but she stopped for a second. The girl questioned about her ears and tail, perhaps it was best to hide them? No. She must be herself and hiding them would make no sense. "Fighting!" She said discreetly before stepping into the reception area. The desk looked pristine and Yeji started by turning the computer on, while always paying attention to the opening time. "Welcome. Welcome! Welcome?" She started rehearsing her greeting, shaped as a mumble but shook her head in the end. "Don't overthink."

wrong turn;
@mpxinvidia
Jinae was so, so lost. She must have taken a wrong turn (or several) somewhere, because she had been trying to find an ice cream parlour downtown... but the dingy, claustrophobic street she was walking down at the moment seemed to be several worlds away from a bright ice cream shop. This area was almost spooky. She definitely should have written down the directions her neighbour had given her.
None of the nearby businesses seemed like good places to ask for directions -and she could not even really tell if any of them were open, anyway- so she was at a loss. She didn’t think she would be able to retrace her steps and go back the way she came, so maybe it would be best to just keep going forward until she saw something familiar or came across a friendly face that could point her in the right direction.
Luckily, she did not have to wander aimlessly for too long - the next corner she turned brought her face to face with a man who at least looked like he knew where he was going. “Oh, hello! Sorry to bother you, but do you think you could point me toward downtown? I’m trying to get to Ice, Ice Baby, but I think I got... really lost.”

❛ just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn’t mean they’re lost forever. ❜ At least, not usually. Right?
Agreeing wasn't as easy as one would think.
While Carter did agree with that statement for the most part, he'd come to understand that in very peculiar cases, losing direction once was enough for a person to be lost forever. He'd witnessed it far too much for his liking and the memories left a nasty scar in his heart. "I think so. I guess it also depends."
People were complex creatures, and everyone had something that would tempt them to go astray at one point or another. Family, money, love... the reasons seemed endless yet predictable enough to be understood. "Some are lucky to have good people around them to guide them back when it happens. Sometimes, all you need is someone to hold your hand while you figure it out on your own—"
He'd seen what one decision could do and experienced it first-hand. "I like to think that we're not lost, no matter how many mistakes we make."

❛ you look really pretty right now. ❜
Esther sat comfortably in the park, with her cello leaning in her lap. She had just finished performing her last song, though she had not quite got up yet. She still felt the urge to play, even if the small crowd that gather began to scatter. When the other approached her to speak, she was rather surprised at their words, even if they warmed her heart.
Playfully, the demigoddess bats her eyelashes as the other. Though, it only takes a second for the other to fall into a soft giggle. "Thank you very much. I really appreciate the compliment. It has made my day!"

❛ i thought you’d like some company. ❜
at Minx
It was only a matter of time before the first one would join him after he sat down at the bar. He knew this type of establishment all too well from his past. No matter how much he may change, he is always drawn back to what he is familiar with. Even if he wasn't exactly interested in the company that was being offered to him.
"True that!" His deep voice sounded more like a whisper as he continued. "Unfortunately for you, not yours." For the first time since the other had joined him, Yohan turned in his bar stool to look at him with a conciliatory smile on his lips. "I'm waiting for your boss. Malea said she shan't be long." He hesitates for a moment before continuing. "So… you see. I wouldn't have the time for that either."

Sticky Situation PT 2
@mpxinvidia pt 1
Turning back to the other, hearing the sweet tones from the other as his name was revealed. "Invidia." A grin spread across his face. It was a interesting name and one he probably wouldn't forget.
It was his turn to give the power to the other - a name can be the most powerful thing against a person. "Khonshu." He nodded as he walked up the stairs a bit slow. "Pleasure ..." Stopping a rouge flushed his cheeks before a chortle escaped. "Pleasure to meet you."
Coughing a bit he scanned over the buildings. It was truly beautiful. "Lets see this room now, hm?" Winking the other started to climb the steps again, but waiting for Invidia to lead as this was his palace.
"So...uh, tell me about yourself?" Khonshu hadn't ever been in this situation before, and he felt a bit shy - or maybe the taboo aspects which he thinks shouldn't be but it still affects him for some reason.

❛ so, what do i owe this pleasure? ❜
Although it certainly hasn’t been long since his arrival, Alexander has already got a rough grasp of some of the most important spots on the island. He has already memorized the route to his own workplace, the closest shop, the fastest way to his siblings’ apartments and the best take-out place. Though, to be fair, it’s the only take-out place he knows so far.
The plastic bag in his hand rustles when he turns to fully look at the stranger talking to him. What he meant to do was to use his words. What Alex ends up doing, however, is opening his mouth to speak without any words prepared to pass his lips while his eyes calmly scan the man talking to him. Oh! It’s a pleasure, indeed.
It’s unclear whether it’s the trace of good manners or the fact that he thought to have heard footsteps approaching, but he finally manages to snap back into reality, lips immediately cracking into a warm smile. “Hey, I’m– uh…” his head whips around to the direction he came from and as if it aids his attempt at an explanation in any way, he points a finger towards that path before looking back at the stranger.
“I’m looking for my brother. I think he works here.” Both his voice and his expression reveal the uncertainty in his words. While Maxim did a well enough job guiding him towards some more or less important locations, he was rather evasive whenever Alex asked him for directions to either of his jobs. If he hadn't asked his sister back home to give up the names of the establishments, he might’ve never known.
“He's…uh…about my height, always looks either tired or pissed, and doesn’t know how to pack a lunch for shit.” He raises the bag up a little to bring some attention to it, the playful nature of his tone doing nothing to hide the care for the man of his description.
“His name’s Maxim…do you know him? Does he work here?”

He shrugs, seemingly indifferent, ❛ experience is a brutal teacher, but you learn. ❜
Angela had been kneading some dough as she let Invidia talk to her. She had another creation that she was trying to make for the cafe. Pumpkin and cinnamon was about to consume the island with the approaching fall, and she wanted to have the best items for the customers to buy alongside her new coffees.
“I would have much rather experience to have not given me lessons that I had to learn from.” She talks nonchalantly. She did not know much about their past, but brutal teacher had been a nice way to put what she had received. Using her weight to help transform the dough, she soon looked up at him. “Hopefully, from now on, we can just teach ourselves.”

Stupid fights on drunken nights
cont. from here for the forever enemy @mpxinvidia
It can’t be far now. They have to be close. Babylon must be around the corner, or maybe the one after that. At least that’s what he hopes. Truth be told, Maxim isn’t entirely sure which part of town they are in, and in hindsight it may have been wise to inform Malea of his lacking sense of directions. Yet, he doesn’t care to bring it up to Invidia now either, despite the chance that he might be too drunk to remember anything from the night no matter what the son of Phobetor says.
Maxim briefly scans the area for any possible hint as to where they should go before he looks at the dancer again, making no effort to hide the irritation in his voice. “Tell me to stop talking again. I fucking dare you.”
While he would love to just leave him right there and come up with an excuse to save his own ass later, Maxim has clear instructions to bring Invidia back to Babylon safely—much to his dismay. Even more so now that he’s gotten used to the income of both his jobs.
A soft ‘Oh shit’ slips past his lips, and his arms tense to keep the sinner from sliding down any further.
Is this the universe’s way of punishing him? Possibly.
Did he do something to draw the scorn of whoever was cosmically in charge of him? For sure.
Does he know what exactly his buttons are being pushed for? Not a fucking clue.
“Oh no.” His tone is the result of every bit of sarcasm stored in his body combining when he places a hand to his heart in feigned concern, his grip on his enemy never faltering.
“And how would you like me to touch you, then, little prince?” The nickname sounds like a cuss on his tongue, lathered in venom and cynicism. He was told to look out for Invidia and get him home safely. It was never his mission to bring him back happy.

❛ i have no desire to clear my name in your book of fiction. ❜
“Oh, come on, none of what happened last week was fiction!” Sekhmet threw her arms in the air in mock despair. “I clearly beat you. I had you under my foot!” What she did could count as cheating, and borderline violent; some even thought she kicked him and hurt him out of spite.
With a flip of her long blond locks, she crossed her arms and jerked her head, watching him with a pointed look. He wasn’t gonna ever give up, was he? The young man looked like he was one for danger and risk, and she found that attractive, regardless it was her he challenged. “What a sore loser. Come and challenge me again!”

Deeper ft. Invidia
making another post bc tumblr is caca, here you go @mpxinvidia from here
The answer to that question was what Noel wanted for the longest time, and while he thought he prepared enough for it, there was a good chance he wouldn't like what would be said. It was the one thing he thought of day and night; the memories, the letter and the myriad of emotions that followed. It was what kept him up at night, pushed him forward and just as he found Invidia again, the only thing he accepted he wanted. It was just that, an answer and he'd go on his merry way, but things between them had a tendency to tangle more than anything else.
It was slightly hard to feel reassured in that moment, but it was okay, he didn't have to be. "I won't think of you like that, ever." He knew how that sounded, but it was one of the few things he could say for certain - they spent too much time together, with mostly Noel trying to get Invidia out of trouble, talking, coming up with things to say to his cousin when he asked where they'd been the entire afternoon. He'd seen Invidia in so many ways, learned as much as he could, watched from the sidelines with careful eyes as the younger man was unapologetically himself as best he could. Judging him was something Noel never did.
"It's okay." He began, reaching for the outstretched hand and bringing it so he could press his lips against the gentle curve of Invidia's palm. "It will be okay, love. I won't judge you." Trying to comfort both him and the man in his arms felt slightly complicated in that moment, not because he didn't want to - it was just hard knowing what to say in a situation that was different for both of them. "I just want to listen to what you have to say."

Touched By An Angel ||
continued from here  with @mpxinvidia
Arawn laughs at the immediate reaction he got from his dear friend and raises the same hand that was immediately dropped, hiding his laugh behind it. “I rather like these...pickup lines! You walked right into it, my dear Invidia,” the god giggles, leaning back on the chair he’d been sitting in.
The God offers Invidia a comforting smile, with the intention that he genuinely has no desire to upset him so greatly. “You really did walk right into it! but it was very cute,” he adds.
He ponders the query posed to him and shrugs, about to reply. He chuckles at Invidia’s immediate response and instead the Celt offers his friend another smile. “I was actually going to say the sprit of spring, but you and your existence is a better answer,” he adds.
