I don't know, Kyoji feels more like the type who has his work laptop, and a monstrosity of a desktop computer built out of whatever parts were available when he needed them (and as much extra ram and processing etc as he could get ahold of)
None of his tech matches. His desk looks like it was sourced entirely from a thrift shop. He soldered two tower cases together to hold all the extra memory and extra hard drives and the stupidass cooling system he built because he wanted to give it a try. He will ditch any part of his setup if he finds an alternative that he thinks he can do something interesting with.
So they absolutely have a Bed Pit right?
We all agree?
Gotta keep that Family Tradition alive and all.
It can't be anything less than a California King though - even if it is just Ky*ji's room (I imagine they'd do separate sleeping rooms because 2/3s of the relationship would be used to that. Whereas with Dom*n it's up for debate) it's the main throuple Hangout Spot which is why his room also has a conversation pit. ;P
I wonder what the night stand situation is like? Is it just those floor desks?
I feel like they'd have a cool light fixture dangling down over the bed.
Since the room is empty, let's play dolls and fill it with furniture and art! If you have a cool piece, reblog with an image of it!

#I'm not a computer expert so sorry if my vocabulary is weird#But I did live with an *aesthetic* computer person who traded parts with multiple frankensteiners#and the shit she said about those guys sounded a lot more like how Kyoji would approach a build#The desk isn't big enough for the number of monitors he wants so he's mounted like three on the wall#He has terrible aiming habits because he turns his mouse sensitivity way up#because he never clears the work stuff off of his desk to make room to use his elbow and not his wrist to move it#he has an ergonomic keyboard but sits on an old lab stool#he has blackout curtains that gather dust because he never opens them#the only spot on his desk that he regularly clears off completely is the spot where he puts his coffee mug#Kyoji's cable management is just about the only elegant aspect to his setup and that's mainly due to him being weary of trip hazards#The lights in his room are two different ''whites'' because he switched the kind of bulbs he was using and is waiting for the rest#to burn out before he replaces them#If he has any LEDs they're serving as the status lights for a machine#It's *organized* beautifully outside of the work and personal projects encroaching on any flat space but the parts are disparate#There are sticky notes *everywhere*#headcanons#I'm sorry for the bigass . uh. this. But I have thought about this and with Kyoji and Raizou's nonexistant work/life balance#this is the kind of conclusion I have come to#G Gundam#Kyoji Kasshu

On G-Witch and the "Giant Space Laser"
Seeing a bunch of new fans who's first experience with Gundam has been Witch from Mercury be either confused or even angry at the big laser:
So I thought I'd take some time to explain the history of Space Lasers and Gundam and how every long time fan has basically had it on our bingo card since the show started. Note: I'm not including Victory's Keilas Guilie or G-Gundam's Statue of Liberty Cannon.
The first one was called the Solar Ray and it appeared in the original Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979, it was a converted colony from Side 3, and used by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War:
The second one appeared in 1985's Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam as the Colony Laser and it was called Gryps 2, it was created out of the husk of the colony of Side 7 and used by the Titan's during the Gryps War:
The next time we'd see one was in 1996's After War Gundam X, an AU timeline which was almost a "What If?" universe of the original Universal Century timeline that asked the question "What if Char had succeeded during the counter attack?". The colony laser in question was created out of one the abandoned colonies left over during the 7th Space War. It also had one of the coolest destruction scenes in a show IMHO:
2002's Mobile Suit Gundam SEED has not one, not two, but three different stand-in's for the old Colony Laser in the form of the the "Cyclops System", which was a powerful targeted array of microwave satellite weapons that vaporized all water it was pointed at, this included inside of human bodies. The effects in the show were graphic.
The second from SEED was GENEIS or Gamma Emission by Nuclear Explosion Stimulate Inducing System, which was essentially a huge gamma ray cannon that used nuclear explosions as the fuel to generate the gamma ray bullets. Just like before the results of it firing are VERY GRAPHIC.
Moving on to the third from SEED we have Requiem, which was a large cannon installed on the dark side of the Moon and used reflecting relay stations positioned around the Earth to hit targets with pin-point accuracy:
Leaving SEED behind finally we move on to 2007's Gundam 00 and their Memento Mori system, which in a departure from previous superweapons in Gundam was mounted to the Earth's orbital ring and used by the Earth Sphere Federation organization A-Laws to destroy basically the entire Middle East. Silly fact: because it was mounted to a ring the first one had a conical field of fire which gave it a blind spot that they could sneak up on.
Circling back to the Universal Century we have 2010's Gundam Unicorn trotting out Gryps 2 again, and in a scene that Witch From Mercury directly pays tribute to: a character face tanking the blast to save their friends and family:
youtube
And now we're at today and Witch From Mercury has used the reference wonderfully.
I hope this explains a little bit of the history of these things and how they fit into the Gundam Franchise and how they don't come as a shock or surprise to the long time fans. Rather if anything it's like seeing an old friend back in the mix.

Haven't done a self-promotion post in a while, but given I am now into the epilogues for this monster, it feels about due. So! Here's my three-year-long attempt to process all the feelings this rather spectacularly good anime gave me. Reviews include "Fuck you" (my beta reader) and "HOW DARE YOU" (a friend, barely five chapters in).
Fandom: Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
Ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/series/2513668
Rating: T through to E (tags/warnings at source)
Pairings: (deep breath) Atra/Kudelia, Yamagi/Shino, Gaelio/Julieta, Eugene/OC, Yamagi/Shino/Eugene, Mikazuki/Atra/Kudelia, Yukinojo/Merribit, Amida/Naze
Summary: A follow-up/continuation of Iron-Blooded Orphans exploring the aftermath of the series and where things might have gone next. Technically an AU in the sense of fragrantly misreading authorial intent for one particular scene (you can probably guess which if you’ve seen the show and read the pairings above) but not remotely an ‘everyone lives’ scenario. This is largely an exercise in the surviving characters being thoroughly haunted by their past and absolutely failing to get over any of it.
Featuring – Ride growing into a (learner) revolutionary; Eugene struggling to be a responsible adult; Yamagi struggling to be an irresponsible adult; Kudelia and Atra being unfiltered sunshine together; Chad needing a hug; Julieta doing her best; Gaelio moping at lot; the Turbines; the spin-off manga cast; the most horrible villain I’ve ever invented; a moderate amount of smut; bit parts for literally everyone; and Almiria Bauduin’s evil plan to save destroy the world.

People I'd Like to Know Better
Tagged by: @queenofalpaca (thank you for the tag ✨)
Last Song: I not sure, but between Safe From Harm by massive attack (I’m eating all of their songs rn I’m obsessed) and the Akira Yamaoka’s songs (silent hill)
Favourite Color: GREEN, from turquoise blue green, to forest green, to olive green, I love every green 🍀
Last Book Read: onto Borne by Jeff Vandermeer still ( because I cannot have Absolution yet :’) )
Last Movie: Souleymane’s story, an absolutely great film that made me tear up at the end. A truly poignant performance from the main actor Abou Sangaré !
Last show: I began rewatching Merlin, with my friend, and I love everything, the flood of nostalgia I get is incredibly (also the stakes get so high so quickly it's- whoa)
Sweet/savory/spicy: spicy, if my throat and tongue are thrown into the pit of hell and I don't feel like breathing fire, I'll be disappointed
Relationship status: ✨ searching ✨
Last thing I looked up: mobile suit Gundam IBO photos to show @queenofalpaca because I love this show
Current obsession: well, I have what you call background obsession and rotating obsession. Those are always there, waiting to pounce on me at the slightest mention, and I'm not normal about any of them. Those are Southern Reach, Evil Within, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy 7, Last of Us and Star wars JF series. I also know that when I'll play that Silent hill 2 remake, the obsession will take over me very very fast 😂
Looking forward to: moving out into my new apartment, painting my new wall in green (again, obsessed with green) and in general making a little cocoon for me to live peacefully. Also ! My new job in the video game industry ! Doing something I like and getting that sweet adult money to do soooo many projects ^^

The Witch from Mercury Season 2 Reaction
Episode 18: “Our Empty Selves”
Seeing Suletta in the normal school uniform seems unnatural. Speaking of unnatural things, Suletta’s behaviour. And yes, I did see that one unmarked point on her wishlist
New change for the OP, Guel in uniform with his new ‘do
Unsurprisingly reclaiming Holder status didn’t make Jeturk’s problems go away, especially with lack of confidence from investors
Can I just say, Miorine looks good in a suit
Of course, there’s another secret Gundam! This is such a Vim Jeturk move. With the revelation that even Delling was using the tech for his super secret doomsday project, it really is clear that Sarius Zenelli was the only one who was actually consistent in his anti-Gundam rhetoric.
Oh, great, now Aerial is getting her own mobile suit looking GUND bits, as if she wasn’t OP enough.
Shaddiq is scheming again, but we all know that he’s playing with fire when it comes to Prospera. That boy is in so far over his head it’s pitiful
Suletta still dutifully looks after the greenhouse, because she needs to be useful to someone. Her entire self-worth is based on being useful to others, that’s how Prospera raised her
Chuchu ready to make Miorine out to be the bad guy, but Suletta only blames herself
Lauda, first off, unless you’re volunteering yourself for greenhouse duty, kindly piss off! Secondly, just because your brother had victory handed over to him doesn’t mean you’re anyone of importance. If anything, you’ve sunk even further than before. But at least you have enough sense to thank your saviour.
Chuchu means well, but she hasn’t caught on to what Suletta’s real problem is. She’s become yet another person that is dragging Suletta around and telling her what to do.
Oh yes, good idea! Leave Earth House in the sole care of one boy with a head injury, guarding against the very vandals that injured him in the first place! What could go wrong?!
Miorine is finally going to Earth? What a twist of fate.
The Counselling Room in Asticassia is literally just Haru on an altar?! No wonder everyone in this school is so screwed up!
Secelia?! What?! How?! Why?! I thought she lived in the Duelling Committee Room!
Oh, is our boy, Kananji, finally ready to reenter the plot?!
Miorine is currently running for an election that she is far behind on, of course you can’t just drop by to see her unannounced. She was already busy enough when she was running a new business.
Looks like it’s big sister’s turn to talk. The revelation about what Suletta is isn’t really surprising, but the important part is why Suletta was created. She was the “key” to helping Eri achieve her potential, but now as I suspected, Suletta has already fulfilled her role as said “key”.
So now that they are done using her, Eri and Prospera are setting her free. But like I said before, Suletta’s measures her entire self-worth in how useful she is to others. It’s both the kindest thing they’ve ever done for her and also the cruelest. The fact that that statement makes any sense to me is proof of how much they screwed up Suletta to achieve their goals.

People I Want to Get To Know Better
Tagged by @catwhoisawizard
Tagging @othidar (would also tag @annarcana but she already got tagged it seems!)
Last Song: "Smile" from FFXIV Dawntrail. Fantastic song, I am baffled why people hate it so much. I just wish they would release the official lyrics already because as great of a vibe as the multi-layered vocals are, I still can't figure out the lyrics.
Favorite Color: Bluuuuuuuuuuue
Currently Watching: One Piece and Gundam 1979. A bit of Critical Role campaign 2 too (haven't watched campaign 1 - watching that via Legend of Vox Machina).
Last Movie: Promare!!!!!!! Excellent movie!!!!!!!!!
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Spicy is SUCH a good stim for me.
Relationship Status: Three wonderful partners <3 Sadly we are all long distance. Sucks tbh.
Current Obsessions: FFXIV to the point I fear it is a problem.
Last Thing In My Search History: "Annapurna Interactive" because I was looking up info about the employees all deciding to simply quit. The entire company quit all at once because they're pissed at their parent company. I hope they're able to find new jobs soon!!! That's a brave freaking move and I respect the hell out of it!

Custom Toonami Block Week 180 Rundown
The Witch from Mercury: This episode starts out with a nice little scene that I wanna break down for a bit because I think it goes through the themes of the episode and Suletta and Mirorine’s character developments. Suletta’s still upset that she doesn’t know Fake Ceres is dead and thinks she’s just being ghosted while Miorine’s a little disturbed by this sudden bout of heterosexuality in her new wife but she basically establishes Suletta does have protagonist syndrome and will just kinda run in and help anyone she sees while Miorine is the queen of staying in her own lane and doesn’t stick her neck out for anyone. The two are invited to the big Investment Ball and we get to have some fun seeing everyone in their fancy dresses and everyone comments on how Miorine’s actually supporting her new fiancée instead of doing her self-proclaimed staying in her own lane showing Suletta has rubbed off on her a bit, this whole episode is basically showing the ways Suletta has helped Miorine grow and it’s really kinda cool. Miorine meets her new mother-in-law Prospera and they kinda have a passive-aggressive chat since Prospera is still kinda mad about Miorine’s dad murdering her entire crew but is also a fan of how much Miorine’s not a fan of her dad. Prospera basically tells her that for someone that hates her situation so much she sure doesn’t hesitate to use the perks and status available to her and with no standing of her own she won’t get anywhere with just determination and words of pride. Real Ceres has to take Fake Ceres’s place since he’s, you know, fucking dead, and we’re in the awkward situation where the real guy has to pretend to be the guy that was pretending to be him and Suletta’s hoping to progress a relationship that no longer exists while Real Ceres has to pretend he knows what she’s talking about and is oddly more amicable yet more dubious than Fake Ceres. The two get on stage and get called out for the whole NewType thing that happened last episode which apparently only happens with two Gundams that synchronize. Ceres’s group is like ‘oh yeah we made a Gundam too btw, we’ll take the tax writeoff’ and Suletta’s gonna get executed or some shit, the difference between rich people and poor people breaking the law. Miorine’s character development culminates in her coming to Suletta’s rescue, promising to make a company out of Prospera’s company and the defunct part of Ceres’s group that will work to make sure Gundams no longer kill people since neither Suletta nor Ceres are dead from piloting Gundams. Like Legally Speaking that doesn’t matter, bottom line Gundams are still illegal even if they eliminate the reason they were outlawed so you shouldn’t be able to make a company that does that without changing the law but Miorine’s dad basically makes the laws so I guess it doesn’t matter. Still, just as Prospera said, no one will invest in the new Gund-Arm company run by a teenager without some more pull. So Miorine bravely abandons all pretense and earnestly asks her father to invest in the project she believes in. Whether it’s genuine care for her after all this or some smug satisfaction of seeing her actually ask for his help, he does invest a small amount which causes a domino effect since the top guy invested everyone else fully funds Miorine’s Kickstarter to save her wife. The funny thing is Prospera basically works for Miorine now and she does confirm that Aerial is a Gundam which for some reason freaks Suletta out.
Inuyasha The Final Act: Sesshomaru goes to mope to Totosai about his dad kind of being a dick and wanting him to master Meido Zangetsuha to give it to Inuyasha because he’s the protagonist. Totosai confirms this is the truth and it is kind of a dick move but he also says that their father cared for Sesshomaru too and also had a long-term plan for him but he’ll never realize it while he’s still attached his father’s heirlooms as the only path forward. Meanwhile while Sesshomaru’s away, Naraku takes the chance to just come after Kohaku personally which is the most awkward ‘Main villain slowly chases the weakest characters in the plot’ sequence since Aizen chased Ichigo’s friends around Karakura Town, though Naraku’s kind of run out of henchmen at this point since he has to do this shit himself and can’t actually touch Kohaku’s shard directly since Kikyo’s light is still protecting it. Still you’d think he’d be able to catch up to A-Un or like blanket the forest in Miasma faster than Kohaku can get away since this is big Post-Hakurei Naraku against two children, an imp and a horse, never thought you’d see the whole plot hinge on fucking A-Un did you? Eventually he does catch up but Sango’s able to save Kohaku from Naraku’s control while the others are delayed by Byakuya. Still, one of my favorite moments in the series happens when Sango throws Hiraikotsu and Naraku’s like ‘bro I am the main villain, you really think you can take me with a D-list attack?’ and gets absolutely WRECKED by the Poison Hiraikotsu, to the point where he can’t regenerate and everyone gets a hit in on him before he has to run away with his tail between his legs. This’d be like if during that Aizen scene fucking Renji came out of nowhere and smacked Aizen down, like it’s great, I really appreciate it. Still they heal up Kohaku and get him to agree to stay with the main group so he’s not in grave danger whenever Sesshomaru has a temper tantrum because this will not be the last time. Naraku also has a shard of Kanna’s demon to have Byakuya give to Sesshomaru which I know what this is, it’s time for the best grudge match in the series.
Castlevania: Last time after we got an update on everyone except Isaac, now we get Isaac. After raiding another town for a mirror that shows him Hector’s being held in Carmilla’s castle, the people are predictably assholes and he starts murdering only to come to an uneasy alliance with a ship captain that will take him where he needs to go. Meanwhile Carmilla develops a plan to use the fact that 90% of the Vampire leaders are dead and everywhere’s in chaos to basically take over the country using the manufactured manpower that Hector can provide. The rest of the girl squad rightly tell her if he’s so crucial to the plan she probably shouldn’t have made his life a living hell and beat him within an inch of dying. Like this is what I mean when I say Carmilla has her carrot and stick backwards, she likes to think she’s this epic chessmaster femme fatale but she’s just not very good at it which at least her squad is aware of. One of the squad named Lenore offers to bring Hector back around from hating their guts and judging by the anecdotes it seems like she’s quite similar to Hector in personality so I’m intrigued to see where this’ll go now that Hector’s character development is in the hands of someone more subtle than a flying mallet. Not much happens with Trevor and Sypha this time but local busybody and Jack Sparrow type Saint Germain realizes he can’t out-Jack Sparrow Trevor but he does get access to the Priory for the purposes of getting more occult shit done for the Dracula Sympathizers that run the place. The only weird thing is apparently they think Dracula’s with his wife in Hell and bitch that lady was the kindest woman in the world she better be in heaven or ain’t none of us getting in. Lastly Alucard finds two Japanese Vampire Hunters who want to use his new home base to better learn how to hunt vampires. Kind of convenient that after resolving himself to use the combined knowledge of Dracula and the Belmonts for good an opportunity to do that just kinda falls into his lap but sure, give Alucard some replacement humans so he doesn’t go crazy from solitary confinement.
Delicious in Dungeon: It’s a full-on Marcille episode this week, we get her backstory and learn she basically has Gifted Child Burnout Syndrome because she was really good in school and did everything by the books but has a hard time adapting when things don’t really shake out the same in an active environment. Baby Falin takes her to a real dungeon and Marcille realizes that the reason everyone calls Falin weird is cause she’s FUCKIN’ WEIRD, but also they become friends when Falin teaches her about the ecosystems of dungeons and helps her advance her dream of basically making an auto-farm minecraft dungeon that’s risk free. Back in the present she reflects on how the other party members left them after Falin was captured and is kinda holding it against them especially since she probably has the strongest connection to Falin out of anyone except MAYBE Laios, and that’s a big maybe. However she’s attacked and fucked right up by an Undine which is only the second time someone’s been fucked up so far in this campaign and they have to use the Joestar Family Secret Technique to survive but because Marcille’s a squishy wizard she’s basically out of juice and they feed her grilled liver to replenish her blood and shit. It’s kind of funny how we get to see her outside of the context of being the squad’s punching bag, like in her element she’s like the Frieren of her circle but she’s essentially in the wrong series. Anyway one of the girls that left them is on their way down to where the party’s at so guess we’re heading for another confrontation maybe.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End: It’s Fern’s birthday again and after all the hubbub with Stark’s birthday, he seemingly forgot about hers and she is pissed. Sein puts in some good work as the new team member and official adult-ish person and councils Fern, basically saying the same thing I did before that she doesn’t really have the best experience dealing with men and she needs to be a little more patient when it comes to letting relationships develop. Stark reveals he didn’t actually forget but wanted to go out and pick something with Fern like she did for him but once things started getting heated he basically got too flustered and angry to try and elaborate. Sein and Frieren talk about their half-and-half responsibility as adults whereas both of them are also pretty childish in their own ways but are also good role models in different ways. Frieren reminisces about Heiter talking about how every adult is really a child inside but tries to act authoritative to guide the actual children and she praises both him and Sein with headpats for their adult-ish efforts. Next they’re traveling by carriage and get abducted by a griffin thing and we learn about the limits of flight magic because as any DBZ fan will tell you, having unlimited flight does kinda fuck with your worldbuilding. Still they manage to make a crash landing and we get a nice little vignette about the ring Himmel gave Frieren and the bracelet Stark gave fern basically being Amulets of Mara and meaning eternal love, Stark had no fucking clue but Himmel knew exactly what it meant and gave it to Frieren on purpose in a shot that’s quite a bit like a wedding proposal. Fern refuses to remove the bracelet since whatever external meaning it has, to her it’s a symbol of Stark’s hard work to make her happy and that’s what matters (also shipping stuff I guess if you wanna go that route), meanwhile Frieren’s only just learned of the true meaning of the ring and she lost it in the crash, just like Fern it means more to her because Himmel gave it to her rather than the symbol on it and she is grateful when the coachman gives her a spell to help find it and the light of her memory literally guides her to it, very good episode.
Vinland Saga: At long last Thorfinn finally comes home, it’s so dissonant to see Iceland barely change after all Thorfinn’s been through. Also it’s pretty funny to watch him have no idea what to do with his family, like he’s felt nothing but rage and/or stalwart determination for so long that watching him just kinda cave is pretty comedic. Ylva just straight up doesn’t believe it’s him and thinks Leif is punking them which is hard to discount when he literally has a backup Thorfinn he adopted right next to him, like it’s gotta be hard to identify someone across continents and decades before any sort of ID came into place considering Thorfinn doesn’t look anything like he did four years ago nevertheless sixteen. Still when his mom sees him she instantly knows it’s him, as mothers tend to do. He tells everyone the story of the whole series and it blows them away as much as it does us. Honestly I expected a little more pushback on the “You want to do WHAT with the slaves!?” but I’mma just chalk that up to Thorfinn telling the story really well. He also explains that he has to go as far as he can to get away from the reach of warring kings like Canute so people who want peace and freedom have a place to go. I’m tempted to say Iceland already seems pretty peaceful but we saw in season one the Vikings can just dip right in there if they need to, so it makes some sense he wants to start somewhere new instead of building up the existing village. Leif signs off on it and we’ve got ourselves a One Piece/Dr. Stone arc of sailing to an undiscovered place. Thorfinn does one last reflection on the top of the hill from episode one, remembering the slave his father freed and the first act of kindness in the series, reaffirming to himself that he will make a place for the helpless to run to where they can have peace.
And that does it for Vinland Saga, the last of the "Fuck it" pack I did a while back where I just dumped a bunch of shows I thought would be good for Toonami but was tired of waiting for and ironically absolutely none of them came to real Toonami in that time even though it's been over a year at this point, kinda wild to be finally done with it, at least until new seasons come out. I already have some ideas for what's gonna replace JJK and Vinland Saga so stay tuned on that front.

Japan Trip 2023
I just returned from a two week trip to Japan! I'll be slowly releasing material about it- where I went, my experience, what I purchased, etc. For now, here are the broad strokes beneath the cut!
Itinerary
First we went to Tokyo and stayed in Toyosu, which is close to Odaiba. After that, we moved to a hotel near Shibuya, after which we moved to a hotel in Osaka. From Osaka, we commuted to Kyoto twice and Nara once.
I want to start by saying that I have never been on a vacation like this. It was physically demanding!
Highlights:
-Team Labs Planets in Toyosu
Team Labs is basically... A group sensory experience? I don't want to spoil it in case anyone wants to go, but basically, you and a bunch of strangers enter a series of rooms with sensory stuff going on. People of all ages are encouraged to play, truly play and engage. My husband and I were giggling the whole time. I've never done anything like it, and genuinely, it's making me want to have a serious deep think about what it means to engage and play, and how our senses are connected to that.
-Doing shrine activities that I have researched at Sensou ji
Shrines have featured in several of my fanfics, so I was so pumped to A.) Know what was going on, B.) Have a general idea of what to do, and C.) GET TO DO IT MYSELF!!! I showed my husband how to purify your mouth and hands with the sacred water. We both pulled our fortunes, and because we both got bad fortunes, we tied them to the rack and bowed and clapped our hands to dispel it (not sure if that last part is necessary, I just copied a Japanese person). The line to pray was long, and I was fretting over praying correctly... And then someone got tired of waiting and CHUCKED THEIR OFFERING MONEY OVER THE CROWD and into the giant offering bin. My husband said, "I maybe wouldn't worry so much," lol! I also bought some shrine charms!!!!!
-Wandering Odaiba
I was upset because our plane to Japan was delayed five hours, meaning I lost time in Odaiba... But I still hit some highlights! I really wanted to see the gazebo and Akemi Bridge, for example. I also saw the Rainbow Bridge, the Statue of Liberty replica, Fuji Station, Diver City, Aqua City, and Tokyo Big Site. I really wanted to check out the apartments where the Chosen live, like Odaiba Kaihin Koen, but there just wasn't time. I didn't really get a sense of the layout of the place, either :/
-Diver City and Gundam Base
I'm not particularly a Gundam fan, but the 1:1 Gundam outside of Diver City on Odaiba???? As if it existing wasn't cool enough, it LIGHTS UP does a SHOW??? According to Google, "It undergoes a transformation four times a day (at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm) into 'destroy mode'; light shows take place on the half-hour between 7pm and 9.30pm"
THE NIGHT SHOW WAS AMAZING! It plays music and projects visuals from Gundam Unicorn onto Diver City, all while the Gundam lights up and physically shifts between its two forms. And it does it all autonomously!
For scale, I am 5'8". I did not go up to its ankle.
-Tokyo Disney Sea
My husband and I love theme parks, and so does Japan! We were in Japan for two weeks, so we opted to only visit one park, the one that cannot be found anywhere else: Tokyo Disney Sea. This park is themed around exploration, and has rides found nowhere else, like Journey to the Center of the Earth and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It also has a truly kickass Little Mermaid section for wee kiddos.
I admit that, because we knew we may never come back, we did the bougie thing of paying to skip lines to experience the most popular rides. Our crowd level was 2/5, and still, the park was JAM PACKED. There were waits of 180 minutes for some rides, so this was the only way to see most (but still not all!) of what we hoped to see. If you're ever planning to go but don't have much time to dedicate to it, I would keep that in mind.
-Seeing Kabukicho and having the best alcohol of my life at Golden Gai
Kabukicho is the main setting of LAD (Like a Dragon), a popular video game series about the Yakuza. And I saw it with my own two eyeballs! We arrived at about 7 PM, way before the nightlife crowd, but that does mean I was able to peek around in peace and have table space at the microscopic bars in Golden Gai. I had the best alcoholic drink of my life, a dessert umeshu, at the Blue Dragon.
One thing to note about Kabukicho, if you ever plan to go. It's a red light district. Sex workers and barkers for sex workers line the streets (don't take your kids here!!!!). Automated messages play in English, warning tourists not to trust touts. Touts are apparently different from barkers. Barkers stand outside of their venue and say stuff like, "Come in and meet our girls," etc. Touts promise you free drinks and will half physically pull you into their establishment. There have been cases of them drugging those "free" drinks and then charging their victim thousands of dollars.
Kabukicho was the only place in Japan where I was nervous, safety wise. Just keep walking if someone tries to get you to go somewhere.
-Nakano Broadway
Nakano Broadway is a giant ass nerd mall in Nakano, a special ward west of Shinjuku, that is mostly owned or rented by Mandarake. Mandarake is a chain of second hand stores for nerd shit (anime merch, collectibles, vintage toys, ball jointed dolls, idol merch, etc). I found most of my digimon stuff here. There are a ton of Mandarakes spread throughout Japan, but the others that I visited were mostly too crowded, packed, and hot for me to browse.
Nakano was like a dream. Most of the stores I wanted to visit were several train rides apart, and each station had several flights of stairs and little to no AC. Nakano had dozens of cool stores in THE SAME WELL AIR CONDITIONED BUILDING, with two bathrooms per floor. The opportunity to hang out for hours in a single comfortable place was enough to make me cry in gratitude. I'm not kidding. This is not hyperbole.
Now, as a warning, it helps to be able to read Japanese in these stores. Most directional signs in Japan are written in Japanese and English, but store directories and labels often are Japanese only. My husband can read well and speak decently, so he was able to navigate stores and read the organizational labels on the jam packed shelves.
Nakano Broadway is also a main setting for Digimon Cyber Sleuth!
-Konansou Ryokan at Kawaguchi
So we wanted to book a ryokan, or traditional inn, at Hakone, home of some of the most luxurious inns around. Unfortunately, you need to book those at least three months in advance to get a room, so we ended up in Kawaguchi, a popular getaway for Tokyo folks located near Mt. Fuji, which is called Fuji-san in Japan.
This is easily the most luxurious thing I have experienced in my entire life.
The room was a gorgeous suite with a HUGE outdoor bath facing Mt. Fuji. It had a genkan and an entry with sliding doors to the living area, bedroom, and bath area. The floors were tatami, and guests were provided with yukatas and a lounge set. The dinner was indescribably fancy, and was delivered straight to our room.
Our only regret is that we only spared one night for the ryokan. The time passed like blinking. I truly hope to stay in a ryokan again someday!
Also, Kawaguchi was my favorite area of Japan that we visited, for its beauty and relative calm, crowd wise. I am not a city person, so that tracks.
-Dotonbori
Look, Dotonbori was crowded AF, especially on Sunday. But it's a delight to the senses at night. LOOK AT THIS STUFF, ISN'T IT NEAT?!
Absolutely try to look up "walk with me" videos in Dotonbori at night. The signs! The lights! The competing street performers! The FOOD!
-Osaka Aquarium
I met two whale sharks! WHALE SHARK!!!! WHALE!!!! SHARK!!!!!
-Todai-ji Daibutsuden (Hall of the Giant Buddha) and Nara Deer in Nara
Nara was a daytrip for us, about 40 min away from Osaka in practice, but functionally longer, at least for us, lol. Okay so like- The giant Buddha? It was. GIANT. Like... house size. Like... utterly jaw dropping.
And the Nara deer were so cute! They were EVERYWHERE! They will bow if you show them a deer cracker/senbei. Just be careful and only offer it to a deer that is alone, and don't let them see the senbei before you are ready to interact with them. The deer can be aggressive, especially in colder months.
Interacting with them was truly some Disney princess shit, it's incredible. I also enjoyed walking around Nara a lot, it feels much more friendly to me than the cities. Also, this is where the most locals talked to me of their own volition, even though we were only there for a few hours. Like literally, in those few hours, more people approached me than almost two weeks combined in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.
-Ikebana classes at Kinse Inn in Kyoto
Yes, I took an ikebana class. Yes, it was mostly for Puits d'Amour. I had an absolutely lovely time, I enjoyed the hell out of it. The lessons were given by an American living with her Japanese husband, whose aunt welcomed her into her ikebana school. Learning her story and meeting her family was awesome, and I also loved hearing about how her husband re-opened the gorgeous inn (seriously, it's beautiful, check out the website) after it sat in disuse for a generation between her husband's grandparents and her husband.
I truly cannot express how much this experience meant to me. I am going to try ikebana at home, too! Check out this freestyle arrangement I made!
Is it good? No idea! Do I love it? YES!
-The entire final day in Kyoto (Fushimi Inari, Gion/Sannenzaka, Kiyomizu-dera)
OKAY RAPID FIRE!
Fushimi Inari is a Shinto Shrine! It features hundreds of red gates going up a hill (mountain?). It's some straight up Ghibli shit! It's magical! The way the trees surround and embrace the gates is stunning, I wish I had good pictures, but they are full of tourists (it was crowded). Definitely look it up on YT if you're interested! I've never seen anything like it and never will again! I also hung my ema, or wishing plaque, with the wishes of hundreds of other visitors, which is something I dreamed of doing. It was shaped like a fox head!
The Gion/Sannenzaka shopping area was gorgeous omg!!!
And of course, the famous Kiyomizu-dera shrine among the trees is beyond compare! I also had a group of young Japanese ladies in kimonos ask me to take their picture, which was so fun!!!! People rarely talked to me in Japan- I always forget how uncommonly friendly Americans are- so this made me so happy!
-The Food
Japan has incredible food! The ramen, okonomiyaki, and taiyaki were my faves. I also really enjoyed MOS Burger, it was way better than any fast food I've had in the states, which annoys me so much lol! It was piping hot and was made with real gouda cheese, not the gross yellow American cheese that tastes like plastic that all the fast food places use here. And the ryokan meal was an experience like no other.
The bad part is that I could barely eat in Japan, as I'll expand on below.
Rough Spots:
-The heat
Tokyo gets hot, and a lot of the old buildings simply don't have adequate AC. In fact, as I understand, central heating and cooling are kind of an American thing? Add the immense crowds and high lighting in stores, and you've got a recipe for disaster.
Normally, in late September/early October, temps are historically in the low 70sF. It was 80-90F all but one day of this trip, with high humidity and sun. The good news: no rain and no typhoons (my BIL went a few weeks before us and lost a day and a half to a typhoon!). The bad news...
I have never sweat like that in my life. It rolled off my body and onto the pavement. On the 90F day, I took THREE showers, because I could tell my husband and I stank. I promise, this isn't normal for us, lol! I nearly fainted a few times, especially on the Akihabara day.
It's just, everywhere we went, we usually had to go to several train stations, all with a few flights of stairs and a lot of walking involved. We were walking at a brisk pace all day for two weeks, from 9 AM to 9 PM ish, in the blistering heat, with no real AC relief (except for Osaka. For some reason, the AC seemed to work better in Osaka? Maybe it's just comparatively less crowded than Tokyo?). And like- god almighty, standing on those packed trains with your face in some stranger's armpit, with a stranger's face in YOUR armpit...!
Most days, we were only able to eat one meal, and even then, we were forcing ourselves to do it because... You know... Humans need food. I would be shocked if I didn't shed weight this trip. Something about being that hot made us unable to eat.
-The crowds
I have a low stimulus threshold, and the press of all three cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto), but Tokyo most of all, was absolutely bonkers unbelievable holy shit. If you make a wrong move, which is common for tourists in the subways, you're going to cause a collision. There were whole areas of Tokyo where I could not see any of the stuff I came to see. I saw people smushed against windows in trains, with their palms adhered to the glass.
It was an actual nightmare. I don't know how else to say it.
-The laundry fiasco
We had a two week trip. We took a week's worth of clothing each and chose a hotel with a washer/dryer for the mid point of the trip. Most Japanese people, as I understand, hang dry their clothing. The washer/dryer in the hotel was a combo unit that could not fit a whole load. We were also forced to use their auto detergent, and as I've mentioned, we were sweating like pigs in hell.
And the dryer didn't dry the clothes.
My husband spent FIVE HOURS trying to get space in the four machines to rerun our clothes. Some of our things were dried FIVE TIMES and STILL CAME OUT WET, and the detergent wasn't strong enough to handle our western sweat glands in "hey you might actually die" mode.
There's no nice way to put this: our clothes did not get cleaned, and we spent an entire evening on this. Worse yet, we did our clothes the day before shipping off our luggage to the next hotel, meaning we did not have extra nights to air them out.
My advice for anyone visiting Japan is to find a hotel with a nearby laundromat. The ones we passed had impressive-looking machines with separate washers and dryers, not that tiny combo disgrace.
I don't want to talk about this any more, lol!
-Akihabara
Akihabara is a nerd area of Tokyo, with a high concentration of anime/video games/ball jointed doll/entertainment merchandise. Anime characters line the buildings, anime music plays everywhere. This was one of the places I was most excited for. I brought my backpack to carry my inevitable purchases.
I bought four items, and three of those were from the spacious Volks doll store. Most of the stores were so packed with people and merchandise that I could not see a damned thing. The crowds, heat, humidity, lack of AC, and the harsh display lighting made the stores indescribably hot. This was the day I nearly passed out a few times. I ended up almost crying on the street by about 5 PM.
I should tell you that I loved the Radio Kaikan building, which had a ton of great stores in it, was big enough to almost accommodate the crowds, at least comparatively, and had proper AC somehow. I also liked the Eorzea Final Fantasy XIV cafe, although I needed my earplugs because of how loud it was.
Everything else? An actual level of hell. Denden town in Osaka was similar, but had proper AC and was large enough to actually see what you are shopping for. I am not exaggerating, you cannot turn around in the aisles at most Akihabara stores, and they are packed solid with shoppers.
-Japan hours
Don't ask me why, but most businesses in Japan don't open until 11 AM. Like literally, I'd be looking for coffee and have trouble finding it before that time. Even breakfast opens late??? Japanese stores are also off on random days, and often restaurants close in between meals, meaning if you don't eat at noon, you might not be able to find a full meal until 6 PM (although you can always get a snack at a conbini). We had to schedule our days around certain closures, etc.
This is fantastic for people who work with customers in Japan, everyone should have adequate time off. But damn it's hard to deal with as an American on a tight vacation schedule. In the states, most businesses are open every day from like 6 AM to 10 PM, or 10 AM to 8 PM at least. We missed out on a few things because of this.
-Other Tourists
Japan attracts a ton of tourists, and as I've mentioned, its cities are DENSE. Think of common obnoxious tourists. Now multiply their numbers by 1,000 at least. Now cram them into an already crowded local population.
It's bad. Real bad. I got bodily shoved aside so many times that I finally cracked and began shoving back. It was always tourists, at least judging by the languages they spoke.
-That one creep with the camera
So. There are a few signs in public transit showing a man sticking a phone under a lady's skirt saying basically, "Do not take unwanted photos."
So yeah. I saw a guy doing that. Absolutely repulsive. This isn't a Japan specific thing, of course, but they apparently know it's an issue.
-My own anxiety about fitting in at Japan
So, part of my problem with the heat is that I dressed, to the best of my ability, according to Japanese sensibilities, as informed by interviews with Japanese people I found on YT. And they were correct: Japanese women rarely show their legs, and even less so their bust and tush areas. They wear long sleeves and pants in 90F weather. Maxi dresses and long jumpers are also in. Anything flowy, long, and oversized.
Do you see where I'm taking this? My dumb ass didn't bring short sleeved shirts or shorts. I tried to buy them at Uniqlo and H&M. They were not in stock. Not a single pair of shorts. I was forced to buy what I suspect are men's lounge shorts from the clearance section, they literally had ONE pair. I did manage to find a t-shirt, too. I wore those shorts more times than I care to admit.
So yeah, maybe only 10% of ladies wear shorts on a hot day, and a lot of them are foreigners, but do you know what is nice? Not fainting from the heat.
Also, there are a lot of behaviors that are considered okay in America and not okay in Japan. I watched a ton of videos and really stressed out over behaving as properly as I could. And guess what? Within a day, I saw people speaking Japanese do all of those forbidden things, like drinking and eating while walking, talking on the train, and so on.
If you do go, try to be respectful and informed, but please don't feel anxiety/fear over it. Just say "sumimasen" if you think you made a mistake, the locals will get it.
I have so much more to say about the trip, but that is all the brain juice I have right now! Take care!

The 21st Day of G-Witch: The End of Hope
I think there was an expectation that Suletta would immediately jump into action after the revelations of the last episode, but this is a far more realistic outcome. The three people that formed the core of pretty much her entire life up until this point pushed her away, and it's not like she could just hop onto a ship and jump into a warzone to see them. Not knowing what to do next, she continues with her school life, trying to find a new purpose in life that isn't trying to live up to the expectations of others.
Kenanji came in trying to handle this the right way, with a peaceful negotiation. And while Shaddiq probably would have bought enough time to successfully move Sarius out of Asticassia, if Guel doesn't charge it screaming everything they know, Shaddiq also probably doesn't let loose Norea into the school to cause a massacre and force the SAL into action.
Norea's anger towards Spacians due to the way Earth and it's people have been exploited and abused is entirely justified. It's just unfortunate that if she hadn't let herself be completely consumed by it, she might have been saved, and seen the potential better future.
Nika and Chuchu have always played important roles in the show at different points and for different reasons. And it's so incredibly frustrating that after they're reunited, we never get to see this conversation as the resolution to their personal plotline together (and that instead, we got the conversation with Nika and Martin).
This whole fight is incredibly frustrating, because it's really trying it's hardest to paint Guel in a positive/heroic light. But Shaddiq and Sabina's criticisms of Guel are absolutely spot on. Guel grew up having a privileged life because of the oppression of Earthians, and even after seeing that oppression first hand and seeing how his father and his company played a role in that oppression, Guel still idolizes his father and still wants to maintain that company that causes so much suffering. And to make matters worse, Guel's own habit of charging into situations without thinking as led to so much suffering, not just for him, but for others.
It's not like Shaddiq is a hero either, and his attitude with regards to Miorine in this scene continues to be gross and fucked up. But while Shaddiq and Sabina are trying to create a better world for Earthians, Guel is fighting to maintain the status quo, even though he's seen first hand what it does and has suffered through it.
Sadly, anyone who has seen a Gundam before knew this relationship would end in tragedy.
Another episode that ends with a punch to the gut. The way the title dropped after Suletta sees Petra left me with chills, followed by the students grieving over the dead bodies of their friends.
This is probably one of my favorite Suletta moments in the entire show, and it's the moment where I really, truly fell in love with her and knew she would be one of my favorite characters ever. After starting the episode not knowing what to do and seeing her classmates injured and killed in the attack, Suletta decides that's she's going to help, however she can.
Even if she can't save everyone, even if she gains nothing from it, Suletta tries her hardest to try and save anyone she can, working into the night to save people still trapped in the rubble. Suletta has always helped people in need, going back to her work as a rescue worker on Mercury, and even continuing to her time at Asticassia where she rescued and helped Miorine. And with that, Suletta finds her purpose, and Suletta decides for herself how she wants to move forward.

apropos of nothing, it'd be funny to imagine that the two (or perhaps 3) main jumping off points for G-Witch's Ad Stella timeline versus the Universal Century timeline after watching Gundam Unicorn is that:
Spacenoid/Spacian rights were ratified at the start of the new calendar
Which leads to expansion to space and all major capital moving there (which leads to spacian domination due to ownership of excess resources and the current status quo of corporate feudalism)
"Permet" as it's known in Ad Stella is actually Universal Century's "Psychoframe" tech discovered and implemented earlier; with the logical conclusion of no natural Newtypes present at that point of time leading to the creation of the GUND-Format and the Enhanced Humans (aka Cyber-Newtypes) to take advantage of it; Eri is very likely the first Actual Newtype of Ad Stella (circa G-Witch plot), but her young age and the harshness of space would prove too much for her
all that to say is:
Should G-Witch and Universal Century have a crossover, all the Permet abilities will more or less still work against Psychoframe tech and might even advance to the even more esoteric stuff related to Psychoframes given enough time
The UC tech pre-psychoframe stuff would be "museum pieces" like the NTDS used in the last few episodes, since they would lack Permet/Psychoframes to operate and subsume
==
just some silly thoughts in regards to AU timelines and how they might intersect with UC :)
#qq posts#perhaps not that accurate but its funny how little information about Permet is out there#ill lookup the psychoframe stuff too soonish

Gundam Unicorn OVA 1: Day of the Unicorn
I enjoyed this quite a lot.
Banagher is a responsible father. Stick a "baby on board" decal on the back of his work mech.
I think it's probably pretty rare for fans who don't know Japanese to read the Unicorn novels before watching the anime. They weren't even fully translated until well after the anime finished airing. Even nowadays, when we have the full fan TL available, I doubt many people decide "Yes, I will read an edited machine translation of ten light novels, even though I know the series has been adapted into seven anime episodes of movie length and quality and I have never watched them". It was novel-only character information that first caught my interest, though, so I get to do it the unusual way.
Will this make a difference in my perception of the anime? Who knows. I don't actually know much about what fan reception was like back in 2010-2014, in either the west or Japan.
Thoughts below.
I'll start with complaints first, since I have only one:
👎 Removed all textual and visual indication of Banagher being multiracial / Syam being Middle Eastern.
Why did they do this. I was genuinely surprised and disappointed to see this from Gundam, since the franchise has a history of diverse casts all the way back to 1979. Gundam 00 would have finished airing just a year before this came out, and that had two brown-skinned Middle Eastern protagonists. Did they hit a quota or something?
Things I really liked:
👍 Everything is beautiful.
It's so pretty. The way characters and expressions are drawn is pretty. The mechs are pretty. The death lasers and the resulting explosions are pretty.
The backgrounds! Ship interiors, industrial sites, the signs and posters in the city. It's all gorgeous.
👍 Robot Status: Wow, Cool
I looove the design of the cockpits and UI. I'd already seen the same setup used in Hathaway's Flash, but it’s not any less impressive here. It's so cool. It's SO cool. I love watching the little markers for the funnels pop up.
The mixing of 3D and 2D for complex scenes is pretty seamless, except for the bit at the very end where the Unicorn transforms. My suspension of disbelief can easily survive a few seconds of recognizable CGI.
God, the robots are cool. I love seeing the Kshatriya in motion.
👍Great use of one of my favourite little Gundam things: characters moving around in zero / reduced gravity.
There are some real weird shots in this one.
I love specialized architecture and infrastructure for low gravity environments! I love characters who are accustomed to living in space being strangely indifferent to the concept of up and down! I love deliberately confusing or unsettling camera angles! Raaaaah!!!
👍👍👍👍👍 MUSIC
It's good music.
The part of the score where the violins start going sour while Cardeas threatens Banagher, until it's just an ugly atonal mess? Love that.
I like that spooky echo sound they use sometimes-- I'm genuinely not sure whether it's built into the music tracks or an added sound effect? I interpreted it at first as an indication of Newtype Shenanigans, but it also seemed to show up in other moments that were dramatic or had a lot of deaths. Though I suppose a lot of people dying is something newtypes would pick up, so maybe it still is meant to represent that. I don't know. The sound is cool.
Some miscellaneous commentary, mostly but not exclusively about comparisons the novels:
Things move more quickly in the OVA than the novels, and the audience knows less about the characters. This is an inherent difference of medium and format. We spend less time inside the characters' heads, and this can give a very different first impression-- particularly of Banagher as the protagonist.
My impression of OVA Banagher is that he's a daydreamer, longing for something he can't place. Novel Banagher can also be described this way, but at least to me he felt more worn down and resigned in his detachment. The anime version has more of a wistful, almost romantic vibe. Maybe it's just those big ol' eyes.
Once he's seen the Unicorn, OVA Banagher has some kind of switch flip in his brain. From that point on, as soon as he gets an impulse, he is GOING. We aren't privy to any of his internal deliberation, just the snap decisions as they happen. He seems a lot more confident without his internal thoughts narrating everything, but also less socially aware.
Here's an actual change for you: in the OVA, Banagher actively volunteers to help Audrey get to the colony builder when she starts to leave. In the novel, she directly asks for his help-- and he says no!
He felt a pull to help when he saw she was in danger, but after they crashed he could hear police sirens. He didn't want to get in any more trouble after his little stunt, so she called him spineless and ran off. He has a whole little arc where he tries to just go back to school like nothing happened until Marida shows up and literally twists his arm. The guilt of ratting Audrey out is the push that makes him change his mind and go after her.
Some of the scenes this change skips were cute, but getting more of Banagher hanging out with Mineva when they aren't being actively chased is nice. It's also just a smartly economical use of time. I do think the change makes Banagher feel meaningfully different, though.
I was fond of him being a little more conflicted and moody, but there's also something really funny about a guy who so single-mindedly barrels into situations. He really does seem supernaturally compelled.
Just a laser guided missile of a boy. Hyperfocus: maximum.
Knowing a bit less about characters like Audrey and Marida works very well. We know about as much as Banagher.
Audrey is obviously someone important, but they don't even say the word "princess" until the VERY end-- like four minutes left on the runtime. They never drop her real name. We get all that through narration long before this in the novels (as well as a lot more direct discussion of the Sleeves and Zeon in general).
We get ZERO interiority or backstory for Riddhe in this first one. His first introduction is saving Audrey and Banagher's friends. They pointedly show you his little airplane charm with a special sound effect for like, two seconds maybe, so quickly you can barely process what it is. Very interesting.
We also know less about Banagher's mom… not necessarily a LOT less, but enough to feel like she's being kept a mystery.
Trust the process, Banagher.
This whole scene-- especially the face journey Banagher goes through-- is lovely.
Marida's civilian disguise is better in this version. Like, in-universe, I mean. She's serious and imposing at a glance in this coat look, which is important when we don't get to see her terrorize and physically overpower Banagher. Probably the right choice to redesign the look, but I did like the novel's gag of her being dressed like sharp-dressed secretary except conspicuously wearing sports shoes so she can still run and fight.
Very fun framing here of Cardeas' dramatic lore dump about newtypes, where it's being told over cool mech combat for the audience, but then they cut back to Zinnerman, who is already sick to bastard death of this guy. Stop expositing, old man, I'm here for a business transaction.
I always love when characters see a Gundam and just say "Gundam". It's good every time.
Gundam.

Sunday Afternoons: Heero/Relena, Trowa; G - Heero endures a Sunday afternoon without Relena with Trowa’s help.
Kyou Kara Maou
Bedtime Stories: Conrad/Yuuri, Wolfram + Yuuri, Greta; G - What starts out as just another evening story time may change everything.
Coming Home: Gisela/Adelbert, Conrad/Yuuri; G - With Dai Shimaron's signature added to the treaty, an ancient and intense grudge between the two countries would end, and peace was one step closer to being attained.
On this particular eve though, there was more than one grudge being laid to rest.
Degrees of Devotion: Conrad/Yuuri; multiple ratings - A collection of Conrad/Yuuri ficlets written throughout the years. Warnings in each section where needed.
In the Endless, Faraway Sky: Multiple pairings; T - A collection of short fics surrounding different characters and pairings from the series. Originally written for contests on livejournal over a decade ago. Pairings and warnings in each chapter note.
Knit Two Together: Conrad, Gwendal; G - Conrad, always believing his older brother hated him because he was the son of a human, welcomed the strange new attention, though it came with a loss as well.
Lessons: Yozak/Yuuri, Implied Yozak + Conrad, Implied Yuuri + Conrad, Implied Wolfram + Yuuri; E for explicit sexual content - Yuuri finally acts like a normal, hormonal male and gets a little help from someone whom he deems “safe.” Both learn a little bit along the way.

Moving On: Wolfram/Yuuri, Yuuri/Fluurin, Murata; G - Wolfram prepares himself for Yuuri's wedding.
The Pain of an Echo: Conrad, Wolfram; G - Because Conrad was young and rather inexperienced in the ways of sensitivity, he blurted out his heritage to his younger brother without a thought of consequence.
Pariah: Yozak/Yuuri; T - Shibuya Yuuri, the 27th Maou of Shin Maou, was on a mission of the highest caliber: Find Yozak Gurrier.
A Return to Healing: Gisela/Adelbert, Adelbert/Julia; G - Upon his return to his homeland, Gisela gives the support Adalbert needs to try again.
Satisfaction: Wolfram/Yuuri; M for some sexual content - Yuuri's being shy, and Wolfram offers a hand.
Shadows and Sheets: Conrad/Yuuri, Wolfram + Yuuri; M for some sexual content - Set eight years after the end of season 2. Little has changed about Shibuya Yuuri other than the effects of Time and the lessons It has taught him. Yuuri has grown up, and he has learned how to compromise. He has also learned the different ways in which a person can compromise; what he himself has come to compromise and why. This is a story about choices.
We Could Be Heroes: Conrad/Alford; M for some sexual content - A young, naïve Alford cannot not understand Yozak’s words of warning: “One day you will tire of seeing it.” But there is nothing tiring or anything even remotely negative about Sir Weller’s smile, especially when it is directed at him. A collection of ficlets for one of my favorite alternate pairings, Conrad/Alford.
Your Stupid Mouth: Yozak/Conrad; M for non-consensual elements and sexual content - Yozak confronts Conrad in his cell [Episode 41 added scene.]
My Hero Academia

Cat Who Got the Cream: Eraser/Mandalay, pledge for @church-of-lemons 2022 and Week one of @rarepairplay 2022; E for explicit sexual content. - The outfit was completely illogical for fighting: short skirt, midriff completely exposed, giant paws on her hands—there was even a stupid tail. It was beyond ridiculous. But there was something about that bell at the base of her throat that entranced Eraserhead when Mandalay walked by, and he hadn’t been able to look away since—not even he saw the rest of her team wore a similar costume.
Eraserhead and Mandalay meet and are instantly drawn to each other.
Naruto
All In a Day’s Work: Kakashi/Sakura, submission for @church-of-lemons 2023; E for explicit sexual content - Kakashi eavesdrops on Ino, Sakura, Tenten and Hinata swapping stories about their partners' best attributes.

A Product of Pleasure: Hinata/Fugaku; E for dub con and sexual content - The Uchiha family needs heirs and an alliance with the Hyuuga family. Unfortunately, both Itachi and Sasuke are happily gay and attached. Fugaku steps in to breed Hinata instead.
Back in the Game Series:
Back in the Game: Kakashi/Sakura, Sakura/OC, Tenten; E for explicit sexual content and mildly dubious consent - A newly-divorced Sakura’s ready to break the agonizingly long dry spell she’s lived in since Sarada’s conception and step back into Konoha as a single woman. A lack of perceived attention on her first night out has Sakura feeling rejected, but by the end of the night she learns things aren’t always what they seem. Back in the Game: Three's Company: Sakura/Ino + Sai; E for explicit sexual content. - Ino talks Sakura into sharing an evening with her and Sai.
Boredom's Barbells: Tenten/Temari; T - Tenten is bored, Anko is annoying, and Temari just wants to complete some piercings.
The Candy Jar: Kakashi/Sakura; various ratings - A collection of previews and microfic from Tumblr/Twitter prompts or random ideas that don't currently have a home. All posts could become longer stories (and some have).
Chopping Firewood: Yamato/Sakura, submission for @multisaku-advent-calendar's December 2022 event; E for explicit sexual content - Sakura is going to get Yamato-taichou’s attention this time.
Chronic Condition(ing): Kakashi/Sakura; E for rape/non-con - Again. How could this have happened again? He had been so careful to work late and to avoid her favorite social spots so as not to frighten her. Clearly, that hadn’t been enough.
An inspired continuation of Tea's (You Give Me) Fever. All ideas were not run by Tea, so it shouldn’t be considered the official sequel.
Coffee 'Verse Series:
Coffee ‘Verse Reader’s Guide: A timeline order for the chapters and oneshots related to “Caffeine Cold” and “Coffee’s for Closers." Caffeine Cold: Kakashi/Sakura; M for some sexual content - A story always has two sides. Kakashi's point of view before, during, and after "Coffee's for Closers". Shizune, assistant to both the former Godaime and current Rokudaime Hokage, was taking a much-deserved two-month vacation. That left an important vacancy in the ranks: Who was going to keep the Hokage in line during her absence? It was a question that seemed to have only one answer: Haruno Sakura. | Story Playlist Coffee's for Closers: Kakashi/Sakura, T for sexual references - Shizune, assistant to both the former Godaime and current Rokudaime Hokage, was taking a much-deserved two-month vacation. That left an important vacancy in the ranks: Who was going to keep the Hokage in line during her absence? It was a question that seemed to have only one answer: Haruno Sakura. | Story Playlist Touch: Kakashi/Sakura; E for explicit sexual content - Kakashi wasn't joking when he said Sakura would have to lead. Duty Calls: Kakashi/Sakura; E for explicit sexual content - Six months after the conclusion of "Coffee's for Closers" and "Caffeine Cold." Kakashi and Sakura discreetly maneuver being together while outside of Konoha, and Kakashi's impatience gets the better of him. What's Good for You: Kakashi/Sakura; T - As more of the general public learns of their relationship, as it becomes less breaking news and just another part of Konoha’s daily life, she hears the sentiment more often: how good she is for their Hokage, how wonderful it is that there’s someone looking after him after all this time.
Colleges and Copiers: Kakashi/Sakura, University AU, T -
Dr. Kakashi Hatake, Dean of the College of Engineering at Konoha University suddenly had a new issue to occupy his time: For the first time, he had some worthy competition for the university’s best and brightest students.
Dr. Sakura Haruno was whip smart, beautiful, an attentive dean, and had an immaculate reputation.
Covet: Naruto/Sakura; E for explicit sexual content. Warning: Adultery. - Sakura joins Naruto at work one Christmas Eve, and it devolves into the start of something dangerous and thrilling for both of them.
Cut the Bull: Kakashi/Sakura, submission for @kakasakuexchange 2023; T - Sakura tells her new boss she has a dog to gain favor, but that blows up in her face when she has to host a work party at her apartment. Now she has to find a dog to borrow in her new city with little time and no personal resources to fall back on. Hopefully, Kakashi’s Canine Training & Adoption Center will have just the dog she needs.
The Falling Petals of Spring: Sakura + Lee; G - Lee finally asks Sakura to the Hanami festival.
From Sea to Desert: Kakashi/Sakura; T - Suddenly, a well-worn argument about time and their future together tips into a territory that would make it their last morning together for a long, long time. (Prequel to a Series)
The Ghosts We Keep: Sakura, Tsunade; G - As the months ticked by and Sakura grew to know her master better, she watched with a mix of awe and horror: the woman was a paradoxical force of nature. She was whip-smart, terrifyingly strong and no nonsense about her leadership, yet the woman actively engaged in ridiculous vices and could offer up a smile that held all the sadness in the world.
I Got You Something: Naruto/Sakura, submission for @multisaku-advent-calendar‘s December 2022 event; E for explicit sexual content - Naruto gives Sakura her Christmas present early, and they quickly break it in.
Healed with a Kiss: Kakashi/Sakura, Pro Heroes AU, written for @kakasaku-week-2023 Day 2; G - Sakura’s goal was to finish her three-year transfer at Musutafu with little fanfare, then return to Okoyama and working in the field.
And then came Kakashi.
Now Comes the Night: Sakura, Kakashi, Gai; T Warning: Major character death - Tsunade used to tell her that in times of war, medics shouldn’t waste their chakra “beautifying the dead,” as she had callously called it. Their job was to heal the living; that was how medics best protected the village. Sakura knew, logically, that as the battle waged on just beyond Konoha’s gates, there would be others who would sorely need her chakra reserves to heal their wounds. Her assigned role in this battle had been to preserve her power for those who needed it.
She did not give one solitary fuck.
Pink: Sakura/Sasuke, Kakashi; M for mentions of sex trafficking - At first glance of the report, Sakura wasn’t clear on why this large group of children was transported all the way from Suna to Konoha. Sex trafficking of minors, unfortunately, was a problem within all five nations.
Sakura learns about near-misses.
Prompted: Kakashi/Sakura, T - One-shots in response to various prompts. All rated G or T.

Unwrapping Gifts: Kiba/Sakura, submission for @multisaku-advent-calendar‘s New Year’s Eve Event 2023; E for explicit sexual content - Sakura may act annoyed, but Kiba knows better.
Wake-up Call: Kakashi/Sakura, pledge for @church-of-lemons 2022; M for sexual content - Kakashi and Sakura end up leaving Naruto’s inauguration party together, but Sakura’s overindulgence leaves her lacking some details the following morning. While Kakashi reminds her, Sakura shares a revelation as well.
Where One Belongs: Kakashi/Sakura, Past!Kakashi + Rin; T - This had to be a nightmare her twisted mind conjured up in order to waylay her with insecurity when she had no time to deal with it. That’s what Haruno Sakura kept telling herself, and yet a very adult, very beautiful, and very alive Nohara Rin was still standing in her office.
Where Love was Born: Naruto/Sakura; M for some sexual content - Naruto and Sakura return to where it all started.
