people who watched promising young woman and are like "she should have been a serial killer murdering all those guys who took her home" fundamentally misunderstand the movie!!! cassie's desperate hope is for people to prove her wrong and that people can change for the better, that's why she gives those guys dozens of opportunities to make the right decision and actually take her home when she's pretending to be drunk, that's why she tells them off and hopes that they'll turn over a new leaf, that's why she gave every person she went after on her revenge spree the opportunity to do the right thing!!! it's also why the scene outside the lawyer's house is so important, why hearing her bf's voice on the tape is so heartbreaking, why she doesn't actually physically harm anyone in the movie!! and all but the lawyer let her down!!!!!!!

It’s a great popcorn adventure flick. Funny, decent action, easy plot, Penelope Cruz being wildly attractive in a black tank top and cargo pants, Matthew McConaughey as the squashbuckling adventurer with a hilarious side kick (Steve Zahn) who you genuinely believe have been friends since they were kids.

It’s based on an adventure book series that my high school librarian got me into. Like Indiana Jones meets James Bond with a dash of Rick O’Connell and The Mummy.
