How Deadpool grabbed its audience! 20th Century Fox marketing strategy
Casting Ryan Reynolds as the lead, the story peaks out while the character starts out to be a grim mercenary who mirrored DC’s Deathstroke the Terminator. The character was created by writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Rob Liefeld in the early 90’s, eventually becoming more unique and humorous under the authorship of Joe Kelly in the late '90s. Wonder the rise of latest comic character Deadpool, AKA the “Merc with a mouth” in the big screen from the Marvel Comics.

 Do you think that people drive crazy on these specific since Deadpool himself planned the film’s advertising or the employment of viral videos, holiday pieces, regional marketing, and social media in their push for box office success? Now let’s analyze the most insane conventional and unconventional movie marketing campaign that you can grab for yours too.
The “Skull-Poop-L” spotted on billboards on driving down Los Angeles was actually an ad for Deadpool resembling a tots indecipherable text that was featured on dozens of sites with Adweek describing it to be “So Stupid Its Genius” but “Crude and Clever” exclaimed the TechTimes. It was advertised so to grab specific audiences especially kids and grandmas too not exactly the intended audience for an R-Rated Superhero movie.

This was one of the Marketing strategy used by the team since the billboards hook a quick glance as you drive by and the emoji billboards requiring more brainpower to figure out what’s actually written on it, a kinda puzzle that every kid would love to solve and people would obviously get a good laugh out of it.
Lemme tell you, always find a creative way to integrate your brand into your battle plan. Deadpool actually got a Valentine Day release in most of the countries jokingly marketed as a romantic movie that triggered boyfriends around the world to gently suggest their clueless girlfriends a romantic nite at the movie with Deadpool, standing as a prankster of the highest degree with its tongue-in-cheek form of marketing fitting the spirit of the movie perfectly.

The most worst kinda prank is the Tinder users furiously swiping left and found themselves matching none other than Deadpool whom when on swiping right  would be left with the movie details encouraging them to find a match soon and take them to watch Deadpool thus breaking the rule that you’re not legally allowed to promote any services on Tinder. But get amused by how it worked being a pleasant surprise and people love sharing happy things.
Spike, MTV, and VH1 eventually took another step in promoting the movie by altering their usual programming to cater to Deadpool’s demography for three hours. Do not be afraid to go for an idea when it works for yours though it seems counter-productive.
12 pieces of exclusive Deadpool contents were released by 12 different websites and the marketing team released Deadpool Emoji app reminiscent of Kim Kardashian’s Kimoji app.

The marketing team also made its reach with lewd jokes and dirty humor that have been described as speaking mostly to 14-year-old boys with suggestive poses and taglines “wait till you get a load of me” and “Sit on this”.
