Emma Watson Just Ditched the Disney Princess Look — And Looks Gorgeous

Emma Watson smartened up her look for the Hollywood premiere of Beauty and the Beast, forgoing her typical Disney princess gowns for a much sleeker ensemble.

The star wore a strapless black jumpsuit straight off the runway from Oscar de la Renta’s most recent collection. Just like Brie Larson’s Oscars gown by the designer, the look featured a more pointed version of a sweetheart neckline.

Watson added her own flourish to the tailored design by placing a gold rose pin on her hip instead of at the bust. The floral theme (a fitting one considering the iconic flower that appears in the Disney classic) was continued in her hair with gold leaves dotted around the actresses updo.

Fittingly, she added more high fashion with her graphic eye makeup. The actress chose a negative-space cat eye (which basically means it’s just the outline) with subtle pink lips.

As always, Watson’s look is sustainable and in line with her new initiative.

The actress was joined by other high-profile stars including Celine Dion, who arrived in a stunning baby blue gown by Christian Siriano.

Chrissy Teigen also made an appearance, wearing an ornate burgundy gown complete with lots of fringing. She matched her dark look with equally gothic lips.

Watching Angela Lansbury Sing 'Beauty and the Beast' at Lincoln Center Will Make You Feel 7 Years Old Again

Could you use a warm, fuzzy feeling today? Then plug in your headphones and prepare to be transported back to your childhood for three minutes. In the video above, 90-year-old Angela Lansbury delivers her signature Disney tune, the title song from Beauty and the Beast, just as sweetly as she did it in the 1991 film. At the end, she tells Chip to go to bed in her Mrs. Potts voice — just in case you haven’t already melted into a puddle of Disney nostalgia by then.

Lansbury’s performance (accompanied by Alan Menken, who composed the song) was part of a special screening event on Sunday, held at New York City’s Lincoln Center in celebration of Beauty and the Beast‘s 25th anniversary and its new home video release. The location was a meaningful one for those involved with the film, the first animated movie to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture: the first-ever screening of Beauty and the Beast was a “work in progress” cut that debuted at that same Lincoln Center theater in 1991.

With blockbusters like Beauty and the Beast, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Justice League looming on the horizon, 2017 is going to be a busy year at the multiplex. Naturally, it’s going to be an equally busy year at toy stores, as each of those giant-sized movies will tie in all kinds of merchandise.
