hey so since we're talking about how awful the minecraft movie looks we're all going to agree not to go see it in theaters right? not even to hatewatch it? we all are in agreement that its a soulless cash grab movie, so we all know that the only way to stop them from making more like it is to give them no cash to grab, right?
yes this includes watching it for the bit. yes this includes bringing your friends to go make fun of it. yes this includes just watching it out of curiosity.
do Not go see this shit in theaters. do Not give them your money. they dont care whether you enjoyed it or not, they only care about what number the box office gives them. so make sure the box office cant give them shit.

Hello, random billionaire. I want to play a game. In front of you is an unsealed, poorly built submarine. You do not have to go in the submarine. If you do, i will seal you inside and drop you so deep in the ocean that no one will ever find your body. Entering the submarine will cost you $250,000. Just to reiterate, you absolutely do not have to go in the submarine. There is no benefit to going in the submarine. You have 96 hours. Make your choice.

thoughts 10/21/22
Yesterday, we completed filming for Movie Money! I feel really good about it. On Wednesday, I woke up and drove to pick up Frederick so that we could check out another Black Magic from the CCAM. Then, I drove the equipment to the bank and let people in. People helped me bring bags inside and props and we finished setting up the desks. Most of the first hour was set up and questions and people getting on the same page. I got a hot dog from across the street at a cart for like $2.50 (nice). Anna asked me about where I wanted the camera for the CCTV shot of the robbers entering, so we figured that part out. The extras were called at 11a. We did a couple walk throughs with them, explained the sketch, and we might have done a run? I don’t remember. But we got the initial shot of the robbers entering from their POV, the CCTV footage, Chesed’s POV shot, and filmed Eli’s b-roll too. I looked at the footage and it looked great. Krishna did this falling thing when he was running and it was so good.
We let everyone go at around 1p for lunch. On our lunch break, I had to go to Franklin to return the college card because apparently someone tried to do fraud with it (not me tho). Then, I went home to pick up my hard drive, and then to Walgreens to get water bottles, boob tape, and a Naked juice for Geo. Then I went back to the set and watched some of the footage with Geo.
After lunch, we got a little bit off track in terms of the order that we had planned to do things in, but we ended up getting everything done. It was weird to adjust to the rhythm of filming as opposed to the momentum of doing things live, but I think we made it work.
We ended up finishing around 4:30p, which was crazy. I had blocked off 10a-6p on Wednesday and Thursday for filming in the bank, and we didn’t even end up using all of Wednesday. It made me feel a lot more comfortable about how the rest of filming will go, especially because the rest of the sketches are in much smaller spaces.
We ended up using Thursday to shoot the movie-going scene. I bought popcorn from Criterion for an exorbitant amount of money and forgot to save my receipt.
I am really glad that we built in a lot of cushioning time-wise. We scheduled people for longer than we thought we’d need them, and it paid off and we were able to get much more done than I had anticipated. We also didn’t feel rushed because we knew we had plenty of time on the books. It took, all in all, including the morning set up, five and a half hours, which is pretty tight. It feels much more reasonable to ask for that amount of time from people, too. I think that Rosa Parks will take a lot less time because there aren’t really any extras and there are much fewer angles to worry about. I think that I wish that I had known more about what was going on? There were a lot of times where we weren’t shooting and I was confused about what exactly we were waiting on. I also think that we could have made call times more efficient? I think a lot of my frustration on set was just about efficiency. People are really fun and funny, but sometimes that means that they are easily distracted by goofing off. I think knowing what I know now, it wasn’t a huge deal, but it stressed me out in the moment because I didn’t always know what was going on.
The experience of playing a high femme character was a lot weirder than I thought it would be. I was wearing boob top (a top that shows a lot of boob), and I felt like much more uncomfortable in it than I imagined I might be. It has me thinking about whether that’s how other women feel, too, or if it’s because of my genderqueerness. The character herself is really strange. I think I initially wrote it for Hamzah, but then ended up playing it myself (I can’t remember if that’s actually true). The character lives for drama and loves to be the center of attention. There is a piece of the character that I think I find difficult to divorce from a stereotypical caricature of an extremely vapid girl, and I think I wonder whether or not the character is misogynistic?
This is another case of it being impossible to separate out identity from comedy. I think if a man played that role, the joke would be that that person is so vapid and conceited. Because I am playing the role, I worry that it reads as “Women, am i RIGHT?”
I think the sketch avoids that because the bank teller and the robber are both women, which like sort of just avoids having one character be the only representation of women in the sketch. But I do think that it sort of sucks that that’s something I have to think and worry about. I want to make comedy, and sometimes I want it to be commentary, but sometimes I just want to tell jokes. I just want to be silly for the sake of it. I don’t want a political motive ascribed to every silly little bit I do, which is not to say that comedy exists in a vacuum, but is to say that when you live in a body like mine, it is much more difficult to present things without the politics of my identity being brought into it.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience. I had a lot of fun, and I am glad I picked the team that I picked. The actors were so wonderful, especially during the movie scene, where I just asked them to improvise. It was honestly very very cute to watch them just interact. A lot of the footage we got is just Emma and Eli’s genuine reaction to Planes, which is so funny and adorable.
I also asked Archer if her band Dutch Country Safari would record a country cover of Life Is A Highway for the credits. I think that would be like just silly enough to be super cute. The movie scene, I think, is funny, but is also just genuinely very cute and silly, and I think tonally the vibe of Life is a Highway would fit. I’m also excited about the prospect of being able to collaborate with more artists I really like and respect.
So I am really excited to film Rosa Parks. I also have decided to film Vitamin D this fall instead of the spring. I asked Simon if he would be willing to act in it, because I genuinely believe he would do a great job, and he said yes, so I think it makes more sense to shoot before he leaves campus than to try to coordinate him returning to town for filming in the spring. Also, I got cast in The Wiz (!) and I am thinking it’s probably best to front load all of the work that I can.
Technical stuff wise, Geo decided that it makes more sense to shoot on his camera than to use a Black Magic from the CCAM. Apparently, the lens we got last time was sort of hazy, which is just unfortunate but there’s nothing we can do about it now. We are also not getting another monitor from Barn Door because apparently it’s not that great a monitor. I also emailed Tonino to see if he would consider a reduced charge because we only used the space for filming for one day. Fingers crossed on that one.
We got the Underbrook for filming Rosa. Up next is finalizing the schedule and shot list for Rosa Parks, figuring out costumes, finalizing the team, etc. On to the next one!

RDJ as Doctor Doom is the most blatant embarrassing cash grab I've ever seen in the history of cinema I think. They might as well have slapped a giant sign on their Fantastic Four film which says 'I don't have any confidence in this film' because that is the ONLY reason they have cast him as Doom and it's so obvious that even MCU fans can see it clear as day.

Find Out How To Use Prop Money Legally
Watch out for excessive pricing compared to market value, as this may indicate that someone is trying to sell prop money for more than it is worth. Recognize that not all prop buyers are professionals and that they may not recognize fake prop money UK. As with any other prop, you must have an expert, such as a seasoned coin vendor or actor with years of expertise in the business, examine your prop money before using it on set.
