A Place Where You Can Disappear
sugawara koushi x reader words; 1464 synopsis; she's the ghost at the end of the hallway- sugawara fully believes she is anyway.
Walking down the empty hallway of the main building always set his nerves aflame. Remembering all the ghost stories his own upperclassmen told him as he was trying to get to the gym was not a good way to start off practice. But he put on a brave face and kept walking with his head held high.
For three years, he shuffled along the hallway covering his ears and mumbling a prayer for safety. Asahi said the gods wouldn't let anything bad happen to him with that specific prayer. Asahi proudly claimed that the prayer was the only way he got through second year mathematics.
The first time Sugawara hears music start playing, then immediately being cut off with a slight startled scream, he gets scared.
He did his best to pick up his pace down the hallway. There was trash littered along the floor, and scratches and dents on the doors of the empty, unused classrooms.
I'm only a third year and I'm going to get murdered by a serial killer this early in my life.
He timidly shuffles his feet to the classroom where he heard the ruckus. He peers in through the glass of the door, only to be greeted with a dark room. Except for in the far corner, where a girl sat with a lamp on the desk. She seemed to be writing or drawing something in a notebook while her earbud wires dangled from her ears. She was nodding along to the beat of the music that was probably playing from her phone, which was sat on the table facedown.
Sugawara can't help but smile. She seems perfectly content with just being by herself and messing around. Sugawara hears the gym doors slam open, and he goes to exit the hallway and head to the gym, but not before stealing one last glance at his mystery girl.
This becomes a daily occurrence. Suga walking through the hallway, but stopping to check in on his mystery girl. Sometimes she eats snacks, sometimes she’s reading a book (Suga immediately goes out of his way to locate a copy of the book and read it), sometimes she is making some sort of craft. More often than not, she had headphones on and was staring at her phone screen.
While talking to Hinata one day, he subconsciously takes Hinata down the empty hallway with him. Doing his usual observation of her, Sugawara notices that she is crying, tears falling down her face and the tear mark lines on her skin are prominent from the light from the lamp. Ushering Hinata to the gym, Sugawara knocks on the door.
“May I enter?” He asks, loud enough for her to hear but not loud enough to scare her.
She sniffles before uttering a small yes. Sugawara tries not to trip on anything as he passes through entrance of the dark classroom.
“Are you alright?” When she nods and smiles, Sugawara becomes confused. “But you’re crying?”
“A very thoughtful observation, but if you would have bothered to pay attention, I’m watching a movie.” She pauses the video playing on her phone, taking out her left earbud so she could pay attention to the stranger invading her space.
Sugawara blurts out another question, “Can I watch with you?” He knows he can't stay for long, he had a practice to get to. But a short ten minutes couldn't hurt, he'd just do Daichi's tedious extra warm-ups for being late. She leans back onto her chair and folds her arms.
“What's in it for me.” She pauses before smirking, “Stalker.”
Sugawara blushes furiously. “I wasn’t stalking you! I was just-”
“Watching me for a very long period of time?” She offers, holding her hand out and motioning it into a semi-circle.
“Yes! Wait, no!” Sugawara covers his face with his hands and groans slightly, realizing anything else he would try to say would only end up with him as a blubbering mess. This is not how he wanted this conversation to go. He wanted to be seen as some sort of hero that swooped in just in time, not the creepy pervert stalker of a girl just chilling and minding her own business.
She leans over and drags the chair from the other desk next to her. Shifting her own chair to the side of the desk, effectively setting up a place for Sugawara to sit.
“Are you going to watch the movie with me or not?” She pats the seat of the chair. Sugawara hesitantly sits down next to her and nods slowly.
She closed out of the movie she was watching, and opened a new tab, typing away in English for a movie title. She asked if he was okay with subtitles, he nodded.
“One question, before we begin, why are you always in this empty classroom.”
“Because I’m the ghost that has been assigned to haunt this classroom.” She sticks her earbud into her left ear and hands Suga the right one.
“Really?” Suga whispers and tugs at the hair on the nape of his neck nervously.
“No!”
His ten minute internal clock passed, and he quietly excused himself from the room. She just waved at him, focusing intently on her movie again.
____________________________________
The following week, Sugawara didn't stop by her classroom again, needing to prepare a little more intently for the upcoming matches. He wasn't a starter, but he needed to be there for the same reasons all players are apart of the team, because they made a commitment and loved volleyball.
Tanaka finally gave up trying to get Sugawara's attention, telling Nishinoya that Suga was too far gone to be helped.
"Ghost Girl still haunting you?" Tsukishima mocked.
Sugawara rolled his eyes, tossing Tsukishima a ball to put away.
Instead of going home by ways of his usual path, Sugawara decided to backtrack, passing through the hallway to go to the main entrance of the school.
She wasn't there though. Pursing his lips, he entered the classroom, just to inspect it. Turning on the lights, he almost dropped his water bottle in reaction to his sights.
The classroom had desks, the usual set up, but on the front board was a lengthy list. A To-Watch list, he deduced. Movies ranging from Oldboy by Park Chan-wook, to the animated Anastasia from 1997. There was a beanbag in the opposite corner to where Ghost Girl had been sitting.
He hadn't noticed how the classroom was essentially a movie theater since he had only peeked in, and the lights were off. The banner hanging from the windows stated: Karasuno Movie Club.
The back wall that typically stored cubbies for students to put stuff in was replaced by rows of CDs, a projector, blankets, and several notebooks. Sugawara picked up one of the notebooks, and flipped to the front page. The notebook had just been started, seeing as all the other pages were blank.
Karasuno Movie Club
Members: 1
Advisor: None, special permission from Principal
Funds: ¥3747.12
Goals: Watch the Letterboxd Top 200 before graduation
Acquisition for New Members: That white haired boy who stares at me sometimes (possibly) (probably not though, he didn't seem too impressed with the movie we watched) (i mean who leaves ten minutes into Crazy Rich Asians?)
Sugawara smiled, tucking the book back onto its place on the cubby shelf. He took out three one thousand yen notes from his bag, and a sticky paper. Thinking about what to write was quite possibly the hardest thing he had done today. Ending up on a short statement of how he would love to be considered apart of the club, and that the money was a donation for the club.
Maybe this little movie club could be a place only they share.
_______________________________________
Sugawara was surprised to say the least when his desk had a small envelope on it.
She wrote about how hard it had been to find out his name, but that signing his initials on the note had helped her to find him, and flipping through the yearbooks too. She said that she didn't know if she could trust him to join the club, again mentioning the time he left early from watching a movie with her. But if he would show up on Saturday, maybe she could let it slide.
Saturday came as quickly as it went.
He brought the good popcorn, a variety pack of treats, and a blanket.
She was crouched down, twisting the knobs on the old projector, casting a light on the pulled down screen at the front of the room.
The beanbag was just big enough for two.
The paper taped to the outside of the classroom door was simple: Now Showing - "Ju-On: The Grudge" and "The Perks of Being A Wallflower"

You hate Flanagan but like Ari Aster, the guy who turned horror into a pretentious snoozefest? :/
Yeah man. I mean, I'm not a die-hard Ari Aster defender, I haven't even seen Beau is Afraid yet, but—the slow unending dread and rubberband-thinning-and-thinning type of discomfort Hereditary and Midsommar made me feel were special and so clearly made to torment the viewer. Not for everyone, but there's a clear point of view there, and I respect that: a clear stance on horror, an attempt to create a unique and unsettling experience, and a personal and creative exploration/meditation on what can make people SNAP (cross the boundary between controlled and uncontrolled, human and inhuman (though not monstrous), violence by way of removal from self-submission to the violence done onto you). The format (the slowness) fits the bill: it's all about pinching your own chords for a long excruciating time and see if YOU do snap too, to the point where you identify solely with the one who will become the horror. What does that make you?

For movie club night on Halloween we tackled a classic several of us had avoided for decades!
Being a sensitive soul and not a chainsaw fan at the best of times (I blame the DOTD remake bus scene) I'd always feared the worst about Leatherface's family biopic in terms of fear and gore. I was relieved to have been pretty misguided in those fears. I didn't know Tobe Hooper deliberately made the film as 'bloodless' as possible in the hopes of a lower rating (good try, dude, good try) and both the film and I were better for it.
Leatherface sits apart from other horror icons like Freddy and Jason in being disturbingly 'human'. Ambiguous, unknowable and at a stretch perhaps even pitiful (outside of the brutal slaughter of course...), one of the main distinctions is that he doesn't operate alone. Instead we get an ominous, unsettling and decidedly grim window into a 'family' dynamic, tugging at themes of the broken American dream, the human cost of progress, traditional jobs and roles and their absence, the global events of the 70s and the meat industry and the nature of meat consumption in general.
There are some standouts among the cast including the Sawyers themselves but also Marilyn Burns, realistically shrieking her heart out to become a trailblazer for one of my favourite movie tropes. There's also a lot left unsaid amongst the sparse dialogue that ultimately asks so much more: there's an intriguing glimpse at the fine line between 'us' and 'them' as Franklin oscillates between fear and fascination early on in the film.
The use of light, sound and space are all extremely effective, especially for the time. Sound especially plays a huge part in both the horror and the hinted subtext, and the light in the parting shots in hauntingly pretty. Not a pleasant film by any means but a well made and interesting one. I definitely recommend it.

The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 16. Legacy
Day 16. Legacy Crossover: Harry Potter, Hogwart Legacy And then Alice Angel and Pansy Parkinson became BFF and terrorized the rest of the school together. By the way, am I the only one who has always thought that Draco Malfoy is short? Heh, it looks like the Boy Who Lived is no longer Ginny Weasley's best match at school... It's very obvious that I don't like the main trio and I favor Luna? :]
Well, I have only one association with the word "Legacy" recently. But I decided that with the crossover I would rather go towards the original series. That's why both are placed above. By the way, I wonder who came to the Workshop as part of the exchange - and why the Workshop has the rank of a magic school X"D Joey's new business plan? Teaching dark magic? XD
I honestly admit that I really didn't want to make this entry. It could have been ready yesterday - but I really, REALLY didn't want to do it. That's why in the end I didn't colour it completely - only the colours of the hair and houses so that it was clear who was where. Bendy, Bernard and Jack are, of course, in my favourite house: Hufflepuff. Why isn't Sammy in it? Well, apparently his racism outweighed his diligence (or it had something to do with Bendy whispering to the Sorting Hat: "anywhere but not with Sammy"). But don't worry, Sammy already has a plan to fix his separation from his beloved Lord ;)
As you can see, I put some of my OCs here: Bernard, Sara from the Movie Club and this guy, this time in Ravenclaw colours :D

INTRODUCTION
Hi, we’re the Hyacinth Film Club! We’re an online film club hosted on Discord that watches a film a week suggested by our members. We’re completely free to join, open to all ages, and just a fun little community.
Our aim is to create a community of film-lovers of all ages from all over the world, and share your favourite films with the rest of us! That way, we watch films from all years, all places, all genres, and you can expand your love for film whilst sharing your passion.
The link to join is in our bio and at the bottom of this post!
How we work:
We have a theme/prompt every week (e.g: ‘your favourite comfort film’, ‘a film that should win best picture’, ‘your roman-empire film’) and based on the prompt everyone suggests a film! You have two days to send in your choice before a vote is held; everyone’s options are put to a vote, and the film that wins the vote is the film we watch for that week. We have a week to watch it, then we hold a large discussion about the film where we can share our ratings, reviews, thoughts, facts, etc whilst we vote for next week’s film!
A little complicated, I know, but trust me you’ll get the hang of it really quickly.
So the schedule works like this:
Friday: Prompt announcement for next week, members begin suggesting films.
Saturday: Members continue to suggest films.
Sunday: Discussion about this week’s film, all suggestions are collected for next week’s film and a vote is held, at the end of the day the vote finishes and next week’s film is announced.
Our aim:
Our aim is mostly to create a community where people can share their favourite films with other people, and begin to expand what they’d usually watch. A lot of film clubs just watch the ‘classics’ and the films people ‘should watch’, and whilst obviously that’s great and those films should be watched, our club is for people to share their favourite films, regardless of whether they’re ‘classics’.
Films say so much about the people who love them, and it’s such a personal experience to love a film and then get to share that film with others.
We would love to have more members to share their love for film!
How to join:
If anyone is interested in joining, whether you’re a big film person or someone who’s only getting started in your journey in film, we’d love to have you!
Just follow the link in our bio or the link below and you’ll be able to join! 💜

Me? Jealous? Hah! (Vil ver.)
Notes: Vil x fem reader, established relationship, long post
See, Vil knew the idea of jealousy all too well, but that feeling didn’t stop him from being professional. Earlier today Vil requested for his lover to work as an extra hand in his movie production. He knew that she had an interest in movie sets and thought his club would be a good experience for her. Along with his lover he requested to use Silver who he thought was quite eye-catching. Maybe a little too eye-catching…
Throughout the shoot Silver kept falling asleep due to his circumstances, meaning he couldn’t be in the shoot for too long. That didn’t pose a major threat as a majority of his scenes were as an extra. However, in order to prevent Silver from falling onto the ground, Vil's lover would catch him before anything happened. Such a benefit from someone who has such quick reflexes.
Vil knew that it was for the best to have someone grabbed him before he fell onto the floor, but he felt bothered at how she easily touched him. Usually, Vil’s lover would get all flustered whenever Vil held hands with her. What was the difference between him and Silver?
Since everyone was on a quick break Vil was using this time to sit down and re-read the script. With the sun blazing down he was ready to layer on some extra sunscreen. Before he could, a shadow formed above his head, Vil looked up to see a pair of hands which were quite rough. Moving them out of his way to see the owner he looked up to be greeted by a beautiful pair of eyes.
Vil: What’s piqued your interest this time? You: I was trying to block the sun from your eyes, I know you’re very careful about your skin.
There was his lover smiling brightly at him, she was shining as she had been working her hardest for something she admired. Standing up he snapped back to reality, Vil then picked up his bottle of sunscreen to pour some onto his left hand. Using his right hand, he grabbed his lover's hands so that he could spread the remaining cream onto her rough hands.
Looking at her in the eyes Vil said to her “I can’t have you getting sunburned from trying to protect me now, can I?”.
The smooth touch of Vil’s hands combined with the touch of the cold sunscreen felt pleasant to your rough hands. Still, your face quickly went up in flames at the simple, yet loving gesture from the one you love. Once he was done with your hands, you took the same bottle to pour some onto Vil’s hands.
Vil was very entertained to see his lover’s face as she applied the sunscreen onto his hands. Any feelings of jealousy he had were vanquished each time she touched him.
Meanwhile, Silver was knocked out under a nearby apple tree.

what did you like about saltburn! and would you recommend it?
Ooh, I feel like my enjoyment of Saltburn was three-pronged: 1 and most importantly) Barry Keoghan being a weird little guy, 2) Pretty, 3) tight writing and left me thinking about it. It was just a genuinely good movie, it had been a while since I'd watched a movie that just felt like Art when I was done with it.
I absolutely do recommend it, with a little caveat. It's got some Weird Shit in it, so if you're a person who needs a heads up on the weird shit, I'd do a quick google for that and go from there. I went in completely blind and had a fantastic time with that. It's a horny black comedy and psychological thriller with tight writing, great cinematography, and attention to detail. 10/10 film in my books.
#i feel like if you're on tumblr and especially if you've been on tumblr for a significant amount of time the weird shit won't hit too insane#people on tiktok or whatever apparently really freaked out over One Scene but - while a What The Fuck moment - it's not *that* disturbing#i watched hannibal when i was 16 it takes a lot to truly shock me#i really appreciate how this *could* have been a horror movie and it is not#i keep thinking about a reddit post i saw#where the question was ''is saltburn disturbing''#and the response that showed on google was ''it is disturbing to anyone who isn't sick'' lmao#guess i'm just a sicko lol#also i love barry i'll watch anything he's in#but rosamund pike fucking devours her role and she's so funny#but anyway enough rambling in the tags#yes! loved it and do recommend if you're curious/interested in it!#saltburn#movie club

have you seen midnight mass? if so, what were your thoughts?
Started it, didn't like it. From what I remember, I found it bloated with its own importance, verbose and hollow, preachy and muddled, incredibly predictable, confused and clumsy, and also singularly... not horror-worthy? Coming back to, you know, being scared or at least troubled / unsettled by what's going on. I stopped before the end though, so that's a bit of a lacking critique; I'd need to torture myself and watch the self righteous car crash to the end to make an actual review about it. I liked Hassan I guess.
