wada sez: Hankey has done a find-and-replace on various wrestling terms to create this Transformers Animated strip. “CGE” stands in for WWE, “Crackdown” is just Friday Night SmackDown, and Motormaster is Hulk Hogan, with “Motormania” being his “Hulkamania”. I think that’s Scrounge in the second panel, predating his official debut, though I’m not sure who the purple, orange, blue, or red robots are. Presumably they’re generics.

Es conocer la historia y la pasión que hay detrás. Recordar a Senna, su valentía en el asfalto, su atrevimiento al volante, y su pasión sin límites por la F1. Es casi nostálgico, y ciertamente conmovedor. Casi trae lágrimas a los ojos, cuando piensas en la pérdida de Senna hace ya 28 años. Lo mucho que hizo por la Fórmula 1, su pasión, su talento inconmensurable, su habilidad para sacar lo mejor de un coche...y ahora ver ese guiño a su memoria en el MCL36 es simplemente maravilloso. Y aquí es donde me meto un poco en las aguas turbulentas, pero pienso que debemos hablar de ello: ¿Han hecho demasiado los equipos de la F1 con los homenajes? Cada poco tiempo vemos un nuevo tributo, y aunque cada uno es hermoso y conmemorativo por derecho propio...¿es posible que estemos perdiendo la pista? A lo mejor es tiempo de replantear cómo interactuamos con la memoria de nuestras leyendas. ¿No sería más significativo establecer fundaciones o iniciativas para perpetuar no solo su legado de carreras, sino también su influencia y contribuciones fuera de la pista? #FYI Ayrton Senna fue más que un piloto de Fórmula 1. Fue un filántropo, un defensor de los menos afortunados, y dedicó una gran parte de su vida a mejorar las vidas de otros. Y aunque es hermoso ver su casco reflejado en el MCL36, sería aún más poderoso que se invirtiera en iniciativas que reflejaban esos otros aspectos de Senna. Eso, creo yo, sería un verdadero homenaje. A fin de cuentas, Senna definió lo que significa ser un verdadero campeón tanto dentro como fuera de la pista. Sería genial ver más de eso reflejado en cómo honramos su legado. Pero eso es solo mi opinión, ¿qué piensas tú? ¿Cuál sería la mejor manera de honrar a nuestras leyendas de las carreras? Finalmente, no hay mejor manera de rendir homenaje a Senna que recordar sus propias palabras: "Quiero vivir a todo gas". Eso es exactamente lo que hizo Senna y por lo que siempre será recordado y celebrado. Entonces, adelante McLaren, ¡llévanos al pasado con ese diseño inspirado en Senna! ¡Estoy seguro de que el espíritu de Senna estará con nosotros en cada vuelta del MCL36 en Mónaco! #MotorMania.

Hablemos de lo que pasó en Darlington, ¿les parece? #NASCAR Primero, me impresionó cómo Kurt Busch logró aguantar en medio de una pista complicada. Llegando al quinto lugar a pesar de todas las adversidades. ¿No opinan que es asombroso? Parece que Mr. Busch ha descubierto cómo manejar su coche, ¡vaya prestaciones! En un contraste total, tenemos a Kyle Busch. ¿Qué pasó ahí, amigos? Pasó de estar en el trío principal a la categoría de aquellos que necesitan reevaluar su estrategia. Nadie puede negar el historial exitoso de Kyle, pero no podemos sobreestimar a nadie aquí. NASCAR no es un lugar para los débiles de corazón. Un error puede marcar la diferencia, y vaya que se equivocó esta vez. Joey Logano, por otro lado, oh dios. Logano, estás perdiendo el toque. Pensaba que eras el rey de las pistas. Sólo hay una cosa que puedo decir: "Joey, tienes que hacer algo, ¡y rápido!". Estamos en un deporte donde milisegundos hasta pueden parecer una eternidad. Espero que Logano retome el camino en la próxima carrera. Ahora, el veterano Kevin Harvick, este hombre es tiempo fue un bólido en la pista. Parece ser que es tiempo de pasar la antorcha. Usualmente, se espera cometer errores en carrera pero, ¿Harvick? Realmente no esperábamos esto. Momento para hacer un análisis, ¿no creen? Hablemos de Quin Houff. Honestamente, yo esperaba más, mucho más. Nadie puede negar que tiene potencial, pero ¿estará aprovechándolo al máximo? Aquí todos somos amantes de la velocidad y la adrenalina, pero amigo mío, no puedes permitirte caer tan bajo en el ranking. Es tiempo de ponerse el casco, ajustar el cinturón y pisar el acelerador a fondo. Algo controversial aquí, pero vamos a hablar del polémico Ricky Stenhouse Jr. No puedo ser el único que piensa que Ricky no tiene lo que se necesita para estar en el top 30. Puedo decir que sí tiene habilidad, pero no tiene consistencia y eso, amigos míos, es de vital importancia. Por último, y la sorpresa de la noche, Ross Chastain. Ross demostró que los momentos adversos pueden ser superados y que en ocasiones, lo único que necesitas es paciencia. No ganó, sí, pero ese noveno lugar demostró que tiene lo que se necesita para mejorar. Estoy seguro que Ross dará mucho de qué hablar próximamente. Bueno, sólo nos queda un largo camino en esta serie de carreras. Aún hay tiempo para los pilotos de colarse en el top, o incluso caer aún más bajo. Espero que todas estas palabras enciendan el debate, ¡ansío leer qué piensan sobre esto! #MotorMania Casi lo olvido, tanto hablar de potencia y velocidad, pero no caigamos en la trampa de olvidar lo más importante: Las carreras no son sólo velocidad, son estrategia, precisión, consistencia y espíritu deportivo. 5 Seasonal Things To Watch In November

There’s plenty of great media to watch in October and even more for December, but what about the month in between? If you’re looking for some great seasonal content to watch in November and aren’t a fan of Thanksgiving, check out these movies, miniseries, and TV specials:

The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad (1949)

This underrated Disney movie is probably best known for being the source material for the beloved dark ride Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. It’s basically a double feature, with two separate literary adaptations linked by a bit of narration and some library footage. The first half is The Wind In The Willows, which tells the story of Mr. Toad and his motormania. It’s got fun antics, sneaky weasels, and charming as hell animation. There’s also a part at the end where it’s Christmas for a bit. It’s not a huge part of the plot tbh, but it feels like enough of a nod to earn its place on the list. The second half of the film is The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow which is obviously the spooky part of this one. It also contains “The Headless Horseman” a criminally overlooked Disney song sung by Bing Crosby (though if you want to hear my favourite cover, you’ll have to seek out the Thurl Ravenscroft version).

Over The Garden Wall (2014)

This is Tumblr, so y’all know this one but I’m going to talk about it anyway. While it’s spooky throughout, I put this one in the “transition” category because I don’t necessarily associate it with Halloween so much as I think of it as quintessentially autumnal. The visuals of the woods transition from falling leaves to snow-covered, barren trees throughout the course of the episodes, so I feel like works nicely as November viewing. Also the whole thing is just fantastic, from the turn-of-the-century style music to the gorgeous backgrounds. The visuals and audio are each great enough to stand out on their own, but put together they create a truly magical experience. Even though I didn’t see this one until after I had graduated college, it’s so timeless that part of me just feels like it’s been around forever.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

You all knew this one was coming. “Tim Burton’s” classic tale (neither written nor directed by Tim Burton) of what happens when Halloween and Christmas collide. A lot of great Danny Elfman songs that don’t fit neatly into the “Christmas Song” box or the “Halloween Song” box (I don’t want to put “Kidnap The Sandy Claws” on my Halloween playlist because it’s not the time of year I want to be thinking about Santa yet, but it’s too dark to go on my Christmas playlist. On the other hand, I would find it totally reasonable for someone else to put it on either playlist for themselves) and visuals that have fun with mixing the two holidays together.

Anna And The Apocalypse (2017)

The only live-action entry on the list and the only one that’s not family-friendly. This British Christmas zombie musical is about a horrific apocalypse that just happens to coincide with the holidays. This leads to a lot of fun gory Christmas imagery, like a zombie in a snowman costume getting decapitated and Anna using a large candy cane decoration with a spike at the bottom as weapon against the undead. It also has a bunch of catchy songs: some that work for Halloween (”Soldier At War”), some that work for Christmas (”It’s That Time Of Year”) and some that aren’t seasonal but are really fun to sing (”Turning My Life Around”). There’s a lot of blood. There’s a lot of tinsel. It’s a good time! (For the audience, I mean. The characters do NOT have a good time).

Halloween Is Grinch Night (1977) & How The Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)

Rather than a single piece of media, this last one is a recommendation for two specials you can watch as a double feature. While How The Grinch Stole Christmas is a well-known classic, Halloween Is Grinch Night is fairly obscure. Is some of that because of the difference in quality between the two? Probably. But I would argue that Grinch Night is still definitely worth watching. It’s written by Seuss himself, it has some weird and wonderful songs, and it contains this iconic exchange:

Since Boris Karloff was dead by the time it was made, the Grinch is voiced by Hans Conried instead. Conried is best known as the voice actor for Captain Hook (and Mr. Darling) in Disney’s Peter Pan. He puts his cartoon villain skills to good use here, having fun with being a delightfully nasty Grinch. Grinch Night can be considered a prequel to How The Grinch Stole Christmas (as long as you come up with some sort of headcanon for what happened to Max in-between) so the two work well as a back-to-back viewing experience.

CYRIL PROUDBOTTOM is a __ YEAR OLD toon from the WASTELAND. His first appearance was on OCTOBER 5TH, 1949 in THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS. He is A LONGTIME RESIDENT of the Wasteland and resides at UTP. Working as UTP takes up much of his time, but when he’s not working, he can be found UTP and UTP. The Thinner Disaster UTP.

Cyril is the definition of everything you can want in a friend-- he's both there for a good time and a long time. He'll get into all sorts of mischief with you, but when the shoe drops, he'll still be there by your side, ready to get you out of trouble.

Something of a jokester, Cyril's cheeky attitude can easily peeve those who are unable to roll with punches. He's always got a wisecrack up his sleeve, and he knows how to make them stick the landing.

Though Cyril is an eternal optimist and truly has no interest in the love of an audience, he is rather depressed about the fact that his best mate Toadie isn't in the Wasteland with him. He's happy for his success, but misses his rabble-rouser of a friend. He makes the best he can of it though.

≡▌░ ♢  J. THADDEUS TOAD — Toadie is Cyril's best friend and means the world to him. He understands Toad in a way that many don't and is quick to his defense. Though Cyril would never wish ill on him, he's counting the days till they can be reunited. He'll be there to welcome him with open arms and a place to live.

≡▌░ ♢  HORACE HORSECOLLAR — Horace is a funny fellow, he is. Cyril can tell there's something about him that wants to be bursting with personality, but another part is holding him back and his demeanor remains generally timid. Cyril is trying to show Horace it's okay to be loud and boisterous.

≡▌░ ♢  ANGUS MACBADGER — Angus and Cyril don't see eye to eye at all. Cyril thinks Angus is a tight-laced snob who never appreciated Toadie for who he was, just for his money. Of course, this isn't true, but as Angus doesn't like Cyril much either-- believing him to be the whole reason Toad's motormania was encouraged and is the reason Toad is currently topside with no one to look out for him-- the two have never had a civil conversation about how much they each care for Toad.

THE ADVENTURES OF ICHABOD & MR TOAD (1949)

Favorite things: I didn’t remember much of these two, so I was pretty thrilled with everything! Basil Rathbone narrating “Mr. Toad” is amazing, I’ve always loved Toad and Cyril’s song “Nowhere in Particular” 🐸🐴, and Mr. Mole is so adorable; really the whole cast of characters are stellar! (Especially the weasels, they’re so insane! 😂) Then of course there’s Bing Crosby narrating “Ichabod” (BEST! Had no idea that was him when I was little! 🎶), the truly amazing character animation throughout, and Brom Bones throwing out some definite shades of an early Gaston 💪🏻🎃

Biggest questions: What kind of perspective was used in “Mr. Toad”? Humans are way bigger than the animals, except one who’s the size of a weasel, and the dogs are smaller than the toads?… so confusing. Also, why on the Disneyland ride do you get hit by a train and go to hell when there’s NOTHING about that in the movie?? 🚂💥🔥And in “Ichabod” it seems we’re suddenly suggesting that self-centered women who flirt and tease to get what they want are attractive and live happily ever after? Not too sure about that… 💅🏻💍🙄
