Fic prompt
Inspired by "Motorcycle Driveby" by Third Eye Blind, plus a convo I had a Reddit.
One-shot from Luka's POV right after the breakup, he's riding around Paris trying to recover from how it ended. He waited so long for Marinette to come around to him over Adrien, he always knew she only picked him because she was afraid of confessing to Adrien and he was the easy alternative, and now he's been humiliated because everyone knew the truth about who she loved.
His father ran out on him when he was an infant, and no one besides his mom has ever made him feel loved before. He needs to grow some self respect; how fucked up is he bc of Jagged that he just sits around waiting for a girl to give him a little affection?
Y'all, this song from the 1990s is exactly about the demise of their relationship. Sample lyrics:
That's when I knew I could never have you I knew that before you did Still I'm the one who's stupid And there's this burning Like there's always been I've never been so alone And I've never been so alive
and
Careening through the universe Your axis on a tilt, you're guiltless and free I hope you take a piece of me with you And there's things I would like to do That you don't believe in I would like to build something But you never see it happen
and
I go home to the coast It starts to rain I paddle out on the water alone Taste the salt and taste the pain I'm not thinking of you again Summer dies and swells rise The sun goes down in my eyes See this rolling wave Darkly coming to take me home And I've never been so alone And I've never been so alive

what makes it harder to relate to sons of anarchy or even justify their lifestyle is that is just doesnt seem profitable to me idk like the sopranos i get it they couldn’t like in complete lap of luxury bc of the feds but like idk this doesnt seem like its worth all the trouble they get into lmao especially since they are struggling
also why do i continue to watch shows where the main characters clearly hate black people like the amount of times i have heard the n word said by white people on this show is insane to me even more so than the sopranos which i could probably count off the top of my head how many times theyve said it (and i expected more tbh but black people are not a part of their story i guess idk)
like when tig and clay planned to kill opie bc they thought he was a rat they were going to blame it on the niners which is another group in oakland i guess?? like blame it on the “angry black man” precisely as it’s the american way and then when that didnt work they literally tried to do a driveby which donna ended up dying instead of opie which is dumb as hell which let to opie’s dad trying to retaliate which.....why is this old man on an oxygen tank still a part of the club? what value does he bring other than seniority? i dont even think he should be riding a motorcycle??? and that was probs the scene where i heard it the most and the leader of the niners was just like ‘if this man says it one more time no one is walking out of here alive’ and i was on his side!!! like shut the fuck up oh my god especially since he didnt even do it like come on you have no leverage here even jax told him to shut the fuck up lmaooo
also omg when the witness turned out to be a young black girl i would have literally stopped watching the show if they killed her i swear on my life god it’s so annoying (though that was more of an issue of her being young rather than her being black)
im shocked this aired on fx tbh idk i always thought of tv as being a little more....idk censored when it came to that type of language they dont even say fuck that much on this show so wtf also the violence lmao

Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by, the cigarette ash flies in your eyes and you don't mind. You smile, and say the world doesn't fit with you. I don't believe you, you're so serene, careening through the universe, your axis on a tilt, you're guiltless and free, I hope you take a piece of me with you.

14: The Breakers
Before you make it further into the park, to the full, final area, you’re more than likely going to be interrupted. That’s understandable because there’s a number of hunters out in the park, and you’ve more than likely caused problems for them along the way of your journey, either through defending yourself, attempting to protect other survivors, or actively attacked them for the sake of your own score. All understandable motives, to different degrees, but it’s not like they endeared you to the groups either.
Of the three starting groups of hunters, the Breakers have probably been the most active hassle for you, if just because the leather-clad bikers are far more mobile than the Scalpers and far more aggressive than the Looters. They’re quite prone to swinging things at you on drivebys–such as pipes, chains, fire axes, flaming axes, etc–or trying to shoot you outright if you’ve killed enough of them. The bikes they ride do give them a lot of mobility, but causing them to crash usually results in them getting pretty mangled, and that’s a bad thing to be when there are zombies about.
For the most part, these biking brutes are a hassle, but one you can hide from, and also one that’s very uninterested in entering the areas their bikes won’t work well in, so you’ll mostly find them in the Center Circuit and Bright Future. You might spot them in Glitter Avenue, riding around and attacking all sides, but the main place you are likely to find them after their establishment is the Circuit. Or more specifically, the Dome of Doom, aka the enormous stadium mentioned earlier where a demolition derby was planned to be held.
The Dome of Doom contains a number of hallways, stores, and stands where confectionary and souvenirs could be bought, and which are currently occupied by militant bikers in increasingly spiked and studded helmets and jacket and zombies on leashes, used as either punching bags or guards for the Breakers.
Now you might decide to go to this claimed compound for any number of reasons, such as trying to grab the guns and supplies of well-equipped murderers, but one big reason you may have is the leaders of the Breakers actively calling you out and posting a bounty for your head. This might happen for any number of reasons, ranging from actually being a threat to their gang to simply exploring around the park enough to catch their attention. They’re in this for thrills, after all, and if you’re interesting, they’ll aim for you.
In fact, you very well might not wind up here willingly at all. It’s entirely possible that the Breakers targeting you, or even the Scalpers or Looters, might capture you. Knock you out, bind you up, some sort of thing, at which point you’ll find yourself inside of a crate with most of your stuff gone and your hands loosely bound behind your back. Loosely enough that you’ll be able to escape and push the top of the box off, at which point you’ll hear the blaring of an announcer’s voice declaring your new role as the target in a full on demolition derby.
So you’re probably dead, assuming you’re still a normal person at this point, but if you’re not, you might have a chance. Either way, Scarlet and Violet are the stars of this encounter, and you’re not getting out of here alive without dealing with them.
The two of them are sisters who dress in full racing leathers and visored motorcycle helmets, one in red and black, and the other in blue and black. They also have motorcycles of their own, one patterned with red flowers and equipped with flamethrowers, while the other is patterned with blue flowers and equipped with chainsaws. On the sides and fronts, so any pass could be extremely lethal for you.
As for the sisters themselves, they’re murderous, excited about it, and in this for thrills and death and pure destruction, paid for through inherited wealth and guarantees of entertaining sights. Don’t expect much because they’ve always been of the nihilistic type, the kind of people who keep being put in the main villain role when, really, they work best as secondary antagonists, which these two fulfill with a reckless enjoyment.
Fights will occur, some way or another, and it might not even be in the Dome. Sooner or later, the murderous sisters will aim to run you down, and you’ll have advantages and disadvantages depending on a number of factors, but the key to it all is that you have to beat them at some point, one way or another, even if it means traps and trickery or even setting one gang against another. And as you do, you’ll probably see their suits rip or their helmets break, and you’ll see just how far the mutations can go.
You’ll see the red, gnarled skin under a shiny red helmet. You’ll see empty eye sockets with burning flames inside them. You’ll hear the mad laughter of a burning monster, shrieking out into the daylight as pipes of bone grayed like steel burst out her back and spew smoke and flame out of her. Jagged spikes will burst out with leaking oil and roiling flames, and a tongue of liquid flame will droop like molten glass from a mouth spilling fire and fumes.
You’ll see purple, bruised skin, cut and leaking. You’ll see blades of what was bone seeping out amid groans and gasps. You’ll hear cracks and breaks and rips in flesh as her screaming gets louder. You’ll see her drive her head into her saws as she tries to control it. The thrills have vanished in a building fear of encroaching reality, of the horror of being twisted into something entirely inhuman, but then there had always been some inhumanity here from the start, hadn’t there?
You’ll see one eat the other at some point, and then keep on going through the rest of her gang.
The Breakers will not survive their time in Sanguine Park. They weren’t meant to.

Tagged by the redoubtable @nossbean and taking my time as usual....
🌿 Favourite comfort food: grilled cheese, skin-on fries, chocolate malt. Grilled cheese has always been my go-to comfort food, but during grad school and after there was a little diner near campus and I’d go between tutoring lessons, or before teaching exams. I mean, any grilled cheese and ice cream is good, but Peninsula Creamery will always be the gold standard.
🌼 Favourite drink: chai, iced orange pekoe, rose black tea, thai iced tea, milk tea with boba... listen I like tea okay? I hardly drink alcohol these days (it would not be a good habit for me personally to get into during quarantine) but I could really go for a snooty gin cocktail-- a berry bramble sounds particularly good right now.
🌷 Favourite relaxing activity: Right. Relaxing. I remember that. I had to give up baths which was a huuuuuuge bummer. But knitting with a Hawaiian radio station on works pretty well, especially if I go outside to do it. For a special treat, getting a massage does the trick better than most anything else. Oh, and if there are literally no limits, visiting the Huntington library and gardens in Pasadena is the calmest I ever feel and I wish so hard that I was there right now!
🌻 Favourite calming scent: flowering olive trees with a touch of eucalyptus-- it’s very specific but it’s the smell of my college campus in the spring. I also like good old fashioned lavender, and I have a candle from the Magic Candle Company that’s designed to evoke Walt Disney’s office that I use to focus while writing.
🌺 Favourite relaxing/uplifting song: “Yuri!!! On Ice,” hands down. The ebb and flow of the song are so comforting and especially in the context of the show it’s basically the definition of uplifting. Also on my inspirational playlist: “Make Them Gold” (which I loved and THEN I happened upon @nossbean‘s PacRim JB that is still assaulting me with its amazingness and used its lyrics for titles), “Motorcycle Driveby” by Third Eye Blind, “Wait For It” from Hamilton, “Sit Next to Me” by Foster the People. If I need to calm tf down right gd now, “Trapeze Swinger” by Iron and Wine.
🍄 Favourite book to get lost in: The only real go-to book I have is Arcadia by Tom Stoppard. But I also just pulled Space Opera by Catherynne Valente off my shelf and remembered how it felt like submerging in a sea of language so I started rereading it. Nextwave is the comic I reread most, but if I’m up for it Transmetropolitan likes to punch me in the face a lot. I also adore an old fic that I think isn’t up anymore but I saved a copy with the author’s permission called Pyeongchang and Prejudice that is honestly a masterclass in adaptation and allusion and shared-universe building and ughhh it’s so good. And the list wouldn’t be complete without my guaranteed pick-me-up Stannis Baratheon: Fantasy Football Commissioner because it’s cracky and hilarious and I find something new every single time I read it.
💐 Favourite chill out TV show: Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse. I’m not even joking. Also aforementioned Yuri!!! On Ice, Leverage, The Good Place, and lately The Mandalorian
🍃 Favourite cheering podcast: Well, good timing-- there was just a post going around my corner of tumblr about how “podcast doesn’t work on me because ADHD, unless I’m debuffed by hand-activity.” Which. Yeah. I used to listen to more podcasts when I walked the kids to preschool and suchlike-- that’s how I blasted through The Adventure Zone: Balance-- but not so much lately. In the old days I was all about the NPR stuff (lordy I miss Car Talk). I’m not sure I can remember the last podcast I listened to, actually? Yikes. I did love Welcome to Nightvale back in the day...?
🌹 The best advice you’ve ever had: “If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.” I don’t know if it’s advice and yes, the source hasn’t necessarily aged well, but I’ve always found comfort in that one.
Usual tagging disclaimer: I’m usually the last on the train but if I’m not and you want to reply, go for it!

This Life Chapter 5
Title: This Life Chapter 5
Summary: Dean Winchester is the Vice President of the motorcycle club The Hunters. After almost 7 years in prison, he's free. But things have changed and Dean has to figure out how to put things back together.
Warnings: Language mainly
AN: You wanna know who the best beta is? @callme-kaz2y5-baby! And the song for this chapter is Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers.
“I can’t believe they shot my fucking bike!” Dean called out the next morning. Caleb laughed and helped him examine the damage. “I mean, does no one have any morals anymore?”
“Says the guy who got busted running coke.” Caleb pointed out. “Plus, would you have rather they shot you?”
“Yes.” Dean said. “My bike and my baby are off limits. Pieces of shit.” He started working on banging out the dents and fixing the holes. Caleb shook his head and headed into the garage. Benny was walking in then.
“Where’ve you been?” Caleb asked.
“I had to go home and shower and drop some good shit off for the prospect.” Benny explained. Caleb nodded.
“Where did you get it?” He asked. Benny laughed some.
“Well, I know a nurse that doesn’t require much to put her in a giving mood. Hence the shower.” Benny laughed. Caleb shuddered.
“Remind me not to ask you questions ever again.” Caleb flopped into a chair that was in the corner and put his feet up on one of the tables. Cas looked up at him.
“Why aren’t you helping on this damn Ford?” He asked. Caleb closed his eyes and leaned back.
“I’m supervising.” He said. Benny rolled his eyes and made his way out to where Dean was working on his bike. The damage wasn’t too bad, mainly cosmetic, but Dean was determined to make sure every part was working. And he wanted to get on the road to California as soon as he could.
“Want a hand?” Benny asked.
“Hand me that wrench.” Dean told him. Benny handed Dean the wrench and watch as he got to work.
“So, when are you heading to California?” Benny asked. Dean froze and looked up at him. “I know you Dean. You threatened a group of fifteen year olds for looking at Sam the wrong way. If he’s missing, you’re not going to sit by and wait for him to show up.”
“I want to get on the road by the end of the week.” Dean said. “I was hoping to leave sooner, but that fucking driveby…”
“Well, I’m going with you.” Benny said. Dean was about to protest, but Benny shook his head. “There’s a chance that Sam was taken by another club. If they’re trying to send us a message, going alone is suicide.”
“But he’s my brother. I should handle this.” Dean said.
“I watched that kid grow up too.” Benny retorted. “You seem to forget that I was over at your house quite a bit. We both took Sam fishing for the first time, and to an amusement park, and…”
“Ok, ok. I get it.” Dean said. “We gotta clear this with the club.”
“You were just gonna leave in the middle of the night with a note on your pillow.” Benny pointed out. Dean opened his mouth but closed it. Benny was right. That’s exactly what he was going to do. Dean just turned his attention back to his bike. “I don’t think it’s good to go to Palo Alto though.”
“I need to find Sam.” Dean growled, clenching his teeth.
“That’s not what I meant.” Benny said, raising his hands. “I meant, Jim and Caleb tore that place apart and didn’t find him. And there’s that new club showing up in the L.A. region according to what Bobby said. Maybe we should head for the south and do our snooping. If we don’t find anything, we’ll ride up the coast if you want and see if we find anything then.”
“When did you become so mindful of things?” Dean joked. Benny just offered a small smile.
“I had a life changing experience while you were gone.” Benny lifted up his work shirt to show a patchwork of scars.
“Holy shit. What the fuck happened?” Dean asked. Benny let his shirt drop.
“Got hit by a drunk.” He explained. “I had just dropped my bike off here and was in the truck, since I had something I needed to pick up. If I would’ve waited five more minutes to drop my bike off, I might not even be here right now.”
“Damn.” Dean said. “I miss all the good stuff while I’m in prison, huh?” He smirked at Benny, who rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, yeah, you do.” He laughed. Garth came out there.
“Bobby wants to see us.” Dean tossed the wrench back onto the toolbox and wiped his hands on his jeans, grease smearing. The three made their way to the meeting room, where Jim, Caleb, and Cas were already waiting with Bobby.
“What’s up?” Dean asked, settling into his seat to the right of Bobby.
“Ash was able to get us a little more information, but not much.” Bobby explained. “Thought I should share it with you guys.” He picked up the piece of paper he had used to write everything down as Ash told him stuff. “So, it looks like they are based more outside of Bakersfield than LA, but they run that territory between the two. Their leader goes by Bert Aframian, Edgar Casey, Michael Constance…” Bobby sighed. “Guy doesn’t give a straight name to anyone.
“You said Bakersfield?” Dean asked. Bobby nodded. “Benny and I want to head out that way.”
“And why the hell would you do that?” Bobby asked. “Haven’t you been listening to anything?”
“Sammy is out there somewhere. And if this new club sent one of their guys to scare off ours, I bet they damn well know where he is. And I’m not just going to sit here with my thumb up my ass while I wait for Sam’s body to be found wrapped in a tarp in the Hollywood Hills.” Dean said. Bobby sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“You Winchester’s are so mule headed it’s not even funny.” He groaned. “Fine. You two go. But stay in contact as much as you can. You’re going to have to pass through Horsemen territory.”
“And we can’t just dip down into Mexico to go around Arizona. We each are sporting a criminal record. I don’t think the border guards would go for that.” Benny added. “And it would be too out of the way to go around Arizona.”
“We’ll be ready.” Dean said. “I might be a felon, but no one is stopping me from packing.”
“Just don’t get pulled over with a gun on you.” Cas said. “Either of you.”
“I think we know how to handle this.” Dean said. Cas shrugged.
“I mean, you did just spend seven years in prison because you got pulled over by a cop.” Cas told him. Dean sighed.
“In Dean’s defense, it wasn’t a familiar territory and that cop I’m pretty sure was on someone else’s payroll.” Garth said. “From what I heard, they knew exactly where to look for the coke.” Garth was the type of guy who had connections almost anywhere. His dad was a Texas Ranger long ago, and Garth inherited his contacts when his dad died.
“You two just be careful.” Bobby said. “And maybe while you’re out there, see if you can drum up a little business?”
“Just no more rival clubs.” Cas added. “We’ve got enough dealing with the fucking Horsemen.”
“And when you find Sam, if he’s perfectly okay, kick his ass for making me worry.” Jim said, laughing. “I can’t afford anymore grey hair.”
“Oh trust me, if that kid isn’t bound and bleeding to death, he is getting his ass beat.” Dean assured them. “Gotta fix up the bike and get my bags ready.”
“Why not just take the Impala?” Cas asked. Caleb laughed.
“Baby is fast, but when dealing with the Horsemen, you gotta be faster than she can go.” Caleb told them, getting a nod from Dean. “Need some help kiddo? I love working on the bikes.”
“Yeah sure.” Dean said. “The faster I can get her fixed, the faster I can get out there.”
“Are we dismissed?” Caleb asked, looking over to Bobby with a shit eating grin. Bobby rolled his eyes and hit the gavel on the table.
“Meeting over.” He said. The boys all jumped up and headed out to the garage. There were a couple cars that still needed fixed, but Dean and Caleb focused their attention on Dean’s bike. Bobby went into the office and took a seat by Ellen.
“He’s going to try to find Sam, isn’t he?” She asked.
“Yep.” Bobby said.
“And what if Sam’s dead?” She asked. Bobby closed his eyes. He didn’t want to think about that sweet little boy dead in some club’s basement.
“We’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.” Bobby said. “I don’t think Dean will be this sane if he loses his brother too. Mary and John, he could handle. But losing Sam…” He looked out at Dean, who was talking to Caleb about who knew what. “Sam is Dean’s world.”
“Believe me, I know.” Bobby said. “How many times did Dean get detention for defending Sam?”
“More than I can count.” Ellen laughed. “I just hope that he finds him safe and sound. Because lord help the world if he is not.”
