*pulls out my 4 years of worldbuilding* ITS OKAY I PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THE CISGENDER BUGS SO I COULD MAKE A BUNCH OF TRANS ONES.

A FEW NOTES BEFORE I GET INTO THIS: 1. This focuses on the Traditional gender roles + concepts in One Specific mothworld Culture because its the most developed writing-wise and very prominent in this world. 2. I KEEP REWORKING THE LANGUAGE SO I KEEP HAVING TO RENAME THINGS AND RIGHT NOW I JUST HAVE A LOT OF PLACEHOLDER LETTERS 3. contains a lot of bugs

but ya Six Strict Categories system that an individual is arbitrarily placed in based on External Features <3

UNLIKE HUMANS, BABIES LOOK LIKE THIS:

and cannot Gendered because. they are worms. grubs. almost entirely identical externally and born/hatched in Batches which are treated as a unit by most families, until after they Grow and molt a lot into a stage that resembles a Small Adult. otherwise known as a child. children are also unable to be Assigned A Gender with High Confidence until they grow in their adult colors which are

like this basically. or like, these are the 100% CHECKS OFF ALL THE BOXES type looks.

[A], [B], [C] generally are Smaller (as they grow Large, Shiny Wings, sooner than their counter parts and Stop Growing.) have Fluffier Antennae (better at smelling) and are just. HehHeh SHINY. and do not lay eggs <3 [X] [Y] [Z] are generally taller, grow wings later, are more drab, have less impressive antennae, generally stronger, and have the ability to lay eggs :-)

also there are Significantly more ppl in the [A] [B] [C] groups bc of genetics reasons (but this is mostly abt ideas on Gender from b4 

THE GENDER ROLES^:TM: OVERALL: [A] [B] [C] are considered the ones who should Do Stuff around the household, cleaning, taking care of Babies/very young children, farming, cooking, preserving food, doing the Many Chores and hands on things required to keep a large household running smoothly, and Only working within the household, however Higher Ranking individuals are usually able to Oversee others (to some degree) and have the time/power to Care About Their Appearance and Look Nice.

[X] [Y] [Z] individuals are considered the ones who do stuff with Finances, Land, Household Management, What goes Where, who does what, when the things do the happen!!! often do more work outside the household and immediate home area, negotiating with other groups, and do all the hunting and things. tend to have actual Named Positions in the household. almost always the Head of the House is one of these. get to name children.

OTHER THINGS [X] are more desired as children and partners as they are considered Pretty and those colors are associated with strength and wealth [B] children (especially those whose base color is grey/grey-ish) are considered unlucky in some regions! grey + blue are associated with death

[C] individuals are often stereotyped as overly energetic and emotional while [B]s are associated with politeness and intelligence.
