Roman is, very rightfully, really fucking confused. Did... did Mothman just appear in his bathroom and hand him back his hard drive? Or was that Remus? Or maybe Remus WAS Mothman and just handed him back his hard drive?

Barely even looking at his phone, he dials his friends and holds the phone up to his ear.

"Hey, guys... is Virgil okay? Yeah? ...I need you all to come over."

The gang is at his house within minutes and rushing out the car. Roman quickly ushers then inside and into the living room.

"...how did you guys get here so fast?" is his first question.

Logan shrugs. "You weren't screaming and singing into your phone like usual, so we all agreed that something was wrong."

In another time and place, Roman might have been offended, but right now he's a little too shaken up to say or feel much.

"Okay, so," he starts. "What I'm about to say is gonna be really weird, and I know you're not gonna believe me, but... I think... Remus might be Mothman?"

As you might be able to tell, Remus is kinda freaking the fuck out.

He's currently wandering about in Mothman form, sulking in has local Walmart (because let's be real, Mothman casually walking around Walmart probably isn't the weirdest thing that the employees have see all day) and wondering if he'd be able to eat human food while in moth form. It's not like he's never tried it before, it's just that he's never unironically considered how raw burger meat would taste and whether or not it would harm him.

Once he's finally decided against it and instead just grabs the nearest thing to him- a bunch of cream cheese stuffed into a fake deodorant container, harmless pranks for all your friends, fun for all the family!- and haphazardly tosses some cash towards the nearest cashier, he opts to fly around for a bit to clear his head.

It's weird, yannow? Being Mothman. And eating cheap cream cheese from a deodorant container.

It's weird transforming at night and flying around and becoming a local legend. It's weird that there's practically a whole fandom around him for just existing. (It's also kinda weird how everyone in said fandom agrees that he's sexy as fuck, but he doesn't really mind that.)

It's weird how he's currently flying around and thinking about how he just exposed his secret. Would Roman tell on him? Nah, probably not. Even he's not that shallow.

But still. He can never be too sure.

And it's weird how he can just... do, all of this. Fly around. Become an internationally known cryptid. Have conspiracies surrounding him and his identity. Glide casually across the sky and into the forest, where most people claim to have seen him. How he's soaring down towards the earth and thERE'S A PERSON RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM HOLY SHIT ABOTABORTABORT--

He crashes into the person before he can fully register what's happening. Ah shit, did I kill him? God, he better not have a camera.

Remus quickly scrambles to his feet, all too aware of what happened last time when he couldn't get away soon enough. Ugh, there would be so many rumours surrounding this. Is Mothman secretly a malicious entity that wants mankind gone? Is he trying to kill people that get too close to his forest? Why is he specifically targeting Roman's friends... wait what?

As soon as he gets a closer look, his jaw drops.

The burn mark on his face from when he was little and thought it'd be a good idea to start playing with boiling water when his mommy wasn't looking.

"Oh... hey," Remus chuckles lightly, his wings twitching as he prepared to fly away. "Sorry for scaring ya, buddy."

But there's no use in hiding. They don't know each other that well, but goddamn does Janus have an amazing memory.

He smiles.

"Surprise?"
