16 years of Amulet!

GOD it's finally done, this took a month to work on, so uh, I hope I did them justice. Thank you everyone for this journey! ^_^ Uhh I'm sleep deprived so not much notes for now.

Working on the rewrite, finished the outline for chapter one (really easy because book one is PEAK), and sketched some Trellis concepts before starting with chapter two

(Also Im sorry, im gonna get rid of that rambo red band he uses in book three, it makes no sense to me 💀

(motherstone) I'm pretty intrigued by your design of Trellis. Do you have any official colors/more defined detailed drawing of him?

HEY!!! It’s you! Hi!! (Big fan of your work, and I’m pretty sure you are one of the main reasons I started drawing in the first place ❤️)

I do have a general idea of the colors I want to use, and I am planning on using some colored pencils or something to make a reference sheet for him and Emily (although Emily’s design is still a little half baked).

I based his palace clothing off of a mix of Chivashian and Turkish clothing:

I think his two main colors would be dark blue and red, with yellow and green undertones (if that’s even the right word lol)

For his “soldier” design, I took inspiration from middle eastern armor plates and Ukrainian vyshyvakna (embroidered shirts) and lemko seed bead necklaces:

I gave him and all the valkorian elves some more middle eastern facial features, and I made his hair curly because it’s fun to draw :D

Soon I’ll have a better more cohesive design for him! I don’t work with colors often so this will be a good exercise for me. Thanks for the ask!

That post that's like "stop writing characters who talk like they're trying to get a good grade in therapy" really blew the door wide open for me about how common it's become for a character's emotional intelligence to not be taken into consideration when writing conflict. I remember the first time I went to therapy I had such a hard time even identifying what I was feeling, let alone had the language to explain it to someone else. Of course there are plenty of people who've never been to therapy a day in their life who are in tune to their emotions. But even they would have some trouble expressing themselves sometimes. You have to take into account there are plenty of people who are uncomfortable expressing themselves and people who think they're not allowed to feel certain ways. It also makes for more interesting conflict to have characters with different levels of understanding.

Hollow Woods is breathtaking and I mean it literally.

I gasp with whimsy and delight every time a firefly turns out to be a wisp.

I see the glow of the Motherstone in the distance, a stark contrast to the dark, blueish night of the forest, and my breath catches a little.

Every so often, the music shifts to a certain chord and I feel it tug me along deeper into the woods.

And yet, there beneath the ancient trees, it feels safe. Like home.

Sorry got art blocked bc I got obsessed with transformers one since I watched it last month, so this was practice to check if I can still draw and... Yep, I was just super uninspired turns out.

I HAVE COMETH, BEARING THE FRUITS OF WAR

This was a gift made for Ei ( @motherstone ) that got WAY OUT OF HAND, but honestly? Maybe that's a good thing. The designs are all his, although Riva's design is now outdated (the consecuence of starting a project and coming back to it months later). The song is a music box version of Hymne à l'amour (coughcough,gottenfromcapcut,coughcough), and the idea behind the editing is to make it seem like a retro cartoon. Below are the still images used, and i hope yall like it!

Okay, these are some VERY quick 5-min sketches so bear with me here (I know I say that a lot, but I spend a lot of time thinking about the designs, not drawing them)

Anyways, Luger is now known as Lugźer Bagoslavi, cousin of Oj Książę Tręlis (Prince Trellis).

He is around 40 years old, and holds a high position within the military.

His wife Wele Bagoslavi is also someone of considerable power. She is one of the Bidma, the Czar’s personal guard, known as “sun witches” by the human countries.

They have a daughter, Želi, who is 16. Him having a family makes his turn to the “light” shall we say, have more of an impact. He is just one example of many elves who are fighting in the war for their familys’ sake. He’s also bought into a lot of the propaganda his uncle spews.

Stones in Gulfeńn are a lot more common, since it is where most of them were made (that’s why Silas was so revered, he was able to make his very own stone without the need of the motherstone, and then proceeded to not share how with anyone).

So when Lugźer climbed the social ladder to General, he was given one to compensate his rank.

When Emily beats him and kills his stone, it send a shockwave of pure power through him, rendering his legs useless. This way Tręlis can still find him in need of help, without him turning into an entirely different character.

(I’ve sort of based his personality off of my own dad because they both love to cook, and idk I want my Luger to be apart of the sassy man apocalypse)

One last thing, his colors are green, red, and yellow. I’ll get back to using colored pencils in a bit when I have the energy.

I’ll gladly answer questions btw, it helps me have a jumping off point for explaining things!

(motherstone) HEY can I just say, I used to draw sakuyama stuff back in the day (w a blog and everything) in tandem w Amulet, so seeing you making sakuyama stuff (esp Koyama I LOVE THAT DUDE fuck I really loved the 7th Division in general) is such an unexpected but very pleasant surprise!! 👏👏 FUCK YEAH 7TH DIVISION AGENDA BABEY

YEAAAAAH DUDE THAT'S SO SO AWESOME. I remember when I was first struck with The Madness and went rampaging through the sakuyama tag, I saw a bunch of your stuff and went "wait...this watercolor....this style.....(does some digging) MOTHERSTONE AMULETSERIES?????? :D".

Seriously it was absolutely delightful to find your work in not one but two niche interests of mine...thank you so much for your 7th division service that stuff is still so charming. Hope you're doing well! :]

You're telling me that fireheart supposedly falls in love with spottedleaf only interacting with her on like 4 occasions before she dies and now he has a spiritual link with her or some shit. And greystripe gets rescued by silverstream and instantly falls in love and breaks the warrior code relentlessly to see her. And you're to tell me that he fights with fireheart for months about seeing her until he finally caved and decides to help cover for him. And that's totally just because of loyalty to the clan and nothing else (which would make fireheart a huge ass hypocrite). And you're to tell me that after all the battles together, becoming warriors together, and training their apprentices together, that greystripe leaves the clan, LEAVES FIREHEART, to join riverclan to be with his kits. And tells him that he'd die for him but as his "best friend". And fireheart hopes to see him at the river clan when they travel to motherstone and when he doesnt he hopes to see him at the gathering. Just to make sure his "friend" is okay. Yeah sure. I so believe that. They're so not gay for each other.

Amulet RE-read: book 4

This on will be a bit short then the last one guys.

Ikol is waiting for Max to get the Motherstone.

Of course Luger and Trellis are going in different planes. Max is working with the elf king.

At the academy he separates Leon, Enzo and Rico from Emily, Navin and Karen.

Of course Max would not show Emily the council because they don’t exist.

Navin knows something is up in Cielis.

Why doesn’t Karen know something is wrong.

Leon knows something is up with the city.

Alyson knows how to stand up for her self.

I don’t know why that Misikit and Cogsley don’t know who Vigo is.

Destroying the Motherstone was a cover for why Silas really got exiled.

I’m happy that Vigo is helping Misikit and Cogsley.

Max separated Emily from her family to use them as a Bergen chip.

Max made the school a bit ordinary and a bit suspicious for Emily.

I think that the bullies are suppose to be the bullies who hurt Max. That’s why they died first.

Emily seeing the colossus foreshadowing them in the next book.

Why did’t the guy in the prison with Alyson parents realize that the elf’s were not bad and are trying to help.

I Think that the puzzle only if the person is alive that’s why it didn’t work on Ronin.

I think that Ikol told Emily about the hall of kings so that she knows that the fight has only just begun.

I’m amazed that Vigo kept his composer when he saw Max again, but not Max.

Navin saying that Emily is not alone is pretty powerful.

Its never stated that Ronin was dead.

The memorial for the fallen stonekeeper is vary beautiful in a very sad way.
