Thankfulness Project- Day 27, Catch Up: Ingredients for Panamanian tamales (we make them with banana leaves). This moment in my life, which I am completely cherishing and relishing in, is both joyous and extremely bittersweet. Remembering all the years I stood in the kitchen watching and helping my Mother prepare for Thanksgiving dinner, all the conversations, jokes laughter, tears and memories made in every kitchen we ever stood in together, in this kitchen that I am prepping my family's dinner today. I'm making those memories with my daughter, passing on tradition and culture, creating a relationship and subculture of our own, showing her things that only your mother shows you....wishing that there were three generations standing in this kitchen right now instead of two.
