Simon hated the tapping out ceremony. Ever since he first had to partake in one, he despised it. With no family and very few friends, he was usually the last on the field, waiting until one of his superiors would tap him out. But he couldn’t skip them either.
So there he was. The sun was beating down on the hundreds of soldiers lined up in neat little rows, standing at attention while they waited for their loved ones. And they came quickly. One soldier after the other was tapped out by their parents, siblings, spouse, and sometimes even children. But he stayed still, watching the happy reunions out of the corner of his eyes. Watching the tears and hugs and kisses. He envied the others; he was jealous of what they had, and he didn’t. But Simon had always been good at following orders, so he didn’t move, barely even blinked as he was surrounded by happiness, while he drowned in his own sorrow.
After an hour, there was only one other soldier left. Simon had barely interacted with him, but he knew his face. And just when Simon thought he wouldn’t be the only one without someone to tap him out this time, a crowd of eight people moved toward the soldier. At the front was an older-looking woman, her brown hair streaked with grey and lines on her face, indicating her age. Around her were people of all ages and genders.
“My son!” The woman let out a sob as she finally threw her arms around the soldier’s neck, causing the man to chuckle, as he hugged her back. “I missed you too, mama.”
One by one, he talked to the people surrounding him, hugged them, and kissed them. Simon couldn’t help but watch, bile rising in his throat as jealousy threatened to overtake him. And as he watched, he couldn’t help but imagine himself in the soldier’s stead. Surrounded by a happy, loud, and loving family. People who were happy to see him. Nowadays, the only people he could call family were the guys from the 141, and they were away on a mission. Still, in his mind, the scene played out. His mother, smiling, rushing toward him. Followed by his brother and his wife, carrying his nephew.
The daydream was interrupted by someone walking toward him. He expected it to be his superior, there to finally release him from the nightmare. But it wasn’t.
A young woman took timid steps in his direction. Her eyes, bright but filled with sadness. Not her own sadness, though, it was sadness she felt for him. He didn’t react, didn’t move, didn’t blink. She came to a stop in front of him, gazing up with a frown.
“Is someone coming?” Simon hesitated before giving an almost invisible shake of his head. She gasped, it was quiet and he barely heard it, but he felt it. In every bone, he felt her sadness and the sorrow she carried for him. Slowly, as if not to startle him, she lifted her hand, until it was inches away from his chest. “Is…is this okay?” When he gave a slight nod, she gently pressed her hand against his chest, finally tapping him out.
A breath he didn’t realize he had been holding escaped him as he finally turned to properly look at the woman. She was still gazing up at him, a soft smile now replacing the frown on her face.
“Thank you.” She nodded in response before glancing back at her family. When she looked back at Simon, she looked determined. “We’re going out to eat dinner if you’d like to join us?” Simon was about to decline when someone called out to him.
“Oi! Ghost!” He looked up and saw the soldier, now facing him, an arm wrapped around his mother’s shoulder. “Let’s go; my mom says dinner’s on us!” Without waiting for a response, he turned around and started walking toward the car park, his entire family in tow. Simon kept looking after him until a soft, small hand slipped into his own. He glanced down and found the woman smiling up at him.
“Come, my mom doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.” And with those words, the woman gently led him to follow her family.
A/N: This will be a two-parter. I hope you liked it!

SYNOPSIS...all his life it was just him and his mother, his father nowhere to be seen or found, vanished, a ghost. No one ever spoke a word of him, he didn’t even know his name. But deep down he begs for answers as his mother always said that he looked just like ‘him’

OTHER...likes and reblogs are appreciated
part 1
It was a chilly Saturday morning. The birds chirped as snow fell from the sky, laying a thick blanket across the trees and ground. Megumi was still asleep while you cooked breakfast for him like you always did. His favorite being eggs, hash browns and bacon. Two weeks ago you could’ve sworn your relationship with your son was ruined, came crashing down when he found out about his father. Toji Fushiguro. Though, it only seems like the situation only brought you closer than ever. He kept asking you about him, what he was really like, how he talked, what he used to wear, did he play any sports. He asked everything. And you told him everything.
You didn’t forget one detail about Toji. From the fifteen years that he’s been gone, you still remember every detail on his face like it was just yesterday. You remember the exact clothes he was wearing the night he left and you remember the look in his eyes when he walked out the door while you pleaded for him not to go. Fifteen years and it still breaks your heart to remember. Sometimes you wished you forgotten about him. Every since then you haven’t been with anyone else. You’ve tried and failed. Went on dates, went out to clubs and bars, whatever it was, but no one was him. No one was your Toji.
Some of your high school friends live happy lives, married, nice house and car with a big family and of course the family pet. But you never got your fairytale ending. You didn’t get the easy way like everyone else. It was just you and your son the entire time and whatever hardships you endured, it was for him. After Toji left you fell into a depression. You never left the house unless it was to get groceries or other essentials, but otherwise you were cooped up. It was just you and your son. Crying yourself to sleep every night seemed like the only option you had at that time. Wasting hours trying to call Toji only for it to go straight to voicemail. You prayed he come back for you two. But he didn’t. Years and years went by and you lost hope. You believed he was dead and maybe he was.
You loved Megumi so much. Everything you did was for him, every battle fought. He was the reason you kept going. He couldn’t grow up without a mother and a father. He doesn’t know that he’s saved your life.
“Mom?” You hear your sons groggy voice as he walks into the kitchen. You glance over your shoulder and laugh at the way he stands there, his hair messy and one of his eyes barely open.
“Morning, Megs. I’m just making you breakfast.” You smile. He hums in response, turning back around and dragging his feet into the bathroom. Even down to the mannerisms he acts exactly like him. You shake your head with a laugh, turning the stove off and grabbing his plate to toss the scrambled eggs on top. “Megs, your food is on the table when you’re done!” You shout. You run over to the fridge, grabbing the orange juice and pouring him a glass when the doorbell rings. “Hold on!”
Putting the juice away, you walk over to the door with the glass in hand. “Who is it?” You ask.
“It’s me.” A voice speaks. It almost sounds recognizable, but not. Your brows furrow while undoing the locks and when you open the door, the frigid air cuts through the warmth of your house and surrounds you.
“You must have the wrong—” As you look up, your eyes widen and the glass drops from your hair, shattering against the wooden floor. Your mouth opens to say something but not a word comes out. It was like you were stuck, frozen. Tears filled your eyes as you took in the man who was standing in front of you. “Toji…?” You utter, bringing a shaky hand up to your mouth.
“Hi, sweetheart.” He grew slightly taller, his hair shorter and you can see the slight wrinkles in his face. He was a lot more muscular too, but nonetheless he still looked like him.
“Oh my god!” You jump into his arms, hugging him tightly. “Toji!” You sobbed. Being in his embrace felt so natural despite how long it’s been. He hugged you back, clenching his eyes shut as he breathed in your scent.
“Mom?! What was that?!” Megumi came rushing out the bathroom running towards where he heard the glass break. Instead, he halted in his steps when he saw the familiar face he only recently learned from photos. “Dad?”
Toji opened his eyes, his expression dropping when he saw Megumi standing there in front of him. You removed yourself from his arms, turning to see your son standing there with tears in his eyes. “Megs, it’s your dad.” You smiled, wiping your tears.
And Toji couldn’t believe what he was seeing. It was like he was looking at a younger version of himself. But he couldn’t wrap his head around it. He knows it’s been fifteen years, but he was still expecting to see his two year old son walking towards him. Toji stepped into the house, slowly walking towards Megumi, hesitating to say or do anything until Megumi jumped into arms. “Dad!” He cried.
Toji clung to his son, hot tears streaming down his cheeks. “I’m so sorry. I’m so fucking sorry.” He muttered against his hair. “Please forgive me.” He breathed. You stood there with pursed lips watching the two of them reunited, but hearing Toji’s apologies broke your heart. “I never wanted to leave you. You understand me?” Toji pulled Megumi away so that he was looking at him. “I’ve missed you so much.”
“Ive missed you too.” Megumi nodded his head wiping his tears. “Mom told me. She told me everything. I don’t blame you, dad.” He sniffled, shaking his head. Toji looked towards you his eyes softening. It’s like you could see everything within him. All the regret, the sadness, the anger he’s been holding within him for all this time.
He stepped towards you, cupping your face in his hands, his eyes searching yours. “You still look so beautiful.” He smiled. “I never once stopped thinking about you.” He said, holding back tears. “You and Megs were always with me. I’m sorry for leaving you, baby.” He hugged you.
It was hard not to cry. You couldn’t hold in your emotions. Not anymore. Everything that you’ve been holding back was finally letting out. You missed him. You missed seeing him with Megumi. You missed his voice, his scent, his everything. “It was so hard, Toji.” You cried. “I needed you. We needed you.”
“I know, I know.” He kissed the top of your head, gently rubbing your back. “Be angry with me, do whatever you want to me. I’m just happy to have you both back.”
You could never hate him. That was never a thought in your head. You could never hate the man you love. All you could do was understand him and his pain. He was hurting just as much as you. He left to protect you and your son. “I thought you were dead.” Your voice broke through your sobs. “I thought…”
“Shhh, shhh, I’m here now,” he whispered. “I’m right here.” He kissed you again. “Come here, little man.” Toji opened his arm, allowing Megumi to hug him.
Toji thought he’d never live to see this day. He began losing hope, drowning in his fears and bad choices. When he left, he remembered your cries, carrying that hurt in his heart for years. He only dug himself into a deeper hole trying to get out of it. Trying to protect you and Megs, he did unspeakable things, shit that left him traumatized. The amount of blood on his hands was staggering. But it was all just to have his family back.
That life was well behind him now. It’s been behind him for months. All this he’s been looking for you, jumping through hoops to even get a glimpse of you and Megumi. He wouldn’t have blamed you if you moved on, if you found someone else and replaced him, deciding to leave this hellish place. But you stayed. Despite everything, you stayed.
“You’ve gotten so damn big.” Toji eyes scanned over Megumi. “About as tall as me.” He laughed.
“Yeah, well, I do look exactly like you.” He shrugged, smiling. “I’ve been hearing it my whole life. It’s finally nice to see the original.”
“The original, huh? I ain’t that damn old,” he scoffed.
Seeing them already get along and bicker with each other like it came naturally gave you a warm feeling in your chest. You’ve never seen Megumi’s eyes so full of life, like he found his other half. And in a sense, he did. You did as well. All of you did.
“We have a lot of catching up to do.” Toji ruffled Megumi’s hair. “A lot.”
“I know. But can you promise me one thing?” Megumi asked.
“Of course.” Toji was quick to answer.
“Please, don’t leave me again. I don’t care what it is. Promise me you’ll never leave me, dad.” Megumi nervously began biting the skin off of his bottom lip.
Toji stared at his son. “I promise.”
a/n: a lot of you wanted a part 2 so I made one. I hope it lived up to the expectations tbh cause I wasn’t really sure what y’all wanted to me to write

❝Euphoria❞
☾︎✰❛❀ Jacaerys Velaryon x Fem! Reader!
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: Jacaerys loves you. But he cannot have you. And it is killing him slowly.
𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬/𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Heartbreak, one sided feelings and lots of tears.
🪐𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬: In this timeline, Rhaenyra never moves to dragonstone so reader and Jacaerys grow together because I didn't really know how to fit it otherwise. It's something shorter than what I would usually write.
Jacaerys significantly remembers the first moment he fell in love with you. You, Aegon and Aemond's sister, younger than the eldest but older than Daeron. Kind of in the middle really but you fell in the youngest ones. After Criston had urged Aegon to spar with him, and ser Harwin Strong saved him, you came. He had been sitting in the garden with an oak tree above, a frown on his lips and a cut on his left cheek by one of Aegon's kicks. And you walked up to him. That same glow on your face and a light that didn't seem to be there until you arrived.
He never really noticed you until that moment. Jacaerys was the first born son of his mother. The heir after heir. While you were the fourth child, after Haelena and of course, Aemond. You weren't a son. Or a first born daughter. He didn't seem to have any particular reason to talk to you. But that evening changed it forever.
You bend down towards him, a comforting smile on your lips. He watches as you ruffle his hair, so gently it sends shivers down his skin. You were called the pink doe, because of how kind you were. And you wore pink and white most of the time. And of course, very beautiful. He never noticed it until that moment. How? he didn't know. Jacaerys was a child, but he could feel love. You pull out a white flower from behind you, tucking it behind his ear.
Jacaerys closed his eyes when you pressed your lips to his ear, right where the cut was. And suddenly he can't even feel the pain anymore. Not when there was you. And there was euphoria.
He started paying a lot more attention to you afterwards. In fact, you, were all that he had on his mind. How you laughed, the blushes on your cheeks when someone—especially Aemond, complimented you, or when your embroidery got noticed by your mother. The queen Alicent. He noticed it all. And Jacaerys couldn't get it out of his head. He figured it was a phase, that he'd eventually grow out of it, yet years passed by, you both turned ten and three and he was speechless when you would show up in a golden and red dress at some family dinner, then fourteen came and your scent, vanilla and rosemary, stuck in his nose when air blew and your gorgeously blonde hair waved in his face.
And then fifteen came, when he finally accepted the fact he was oh so inevitably and irreversibly in love with you. Everything about you, he would accept. That you were a green, that your brothers were Aegon and Aemond. And even if you were like them, like the hightowers—which you weren't, you were the kindest and most gentle heart he had ever met, but even if you were, he would accept it with open arms. Because you, to him, were his great love. His euphoria. A feeling he always felt with you.
A dream. Because one day becoming king, and you, to rule by his side? to be his queen? it was a dream. And it was the best and most beautiful one he wished for. However little did he know, it would only stay a dream.
Because one windy day, right when he wanted to ask you to marry him, right under that same oak tree, you told him something that broke him in two.
You were betrothed to Aemond.
“What?” his heart falls, throat swelling dry. He can barely speak.
“Our mother arranged it. She thought he and I made good company and...” you sigh, your eyes closed as you smiled, “I've loved him for so long. It finally feels a dream come true.”
Oh. He watched as you look so in love, just with the thought of him. Just like how he looks thinking of you. He watched as a feast was thrown in the celebration of both your betrothal, he watched as you dance with each other, his hands on your waist and a gleaming smile on your lips, he watched as you take your wedding vows, and share a kiss. He watched Aemond claim his euphoria and love it like he was the one meant to be with you. Not him.
Jacaerys never imagined himself crying under that same oak tree after your wedding was over. He also never thought he would cry himself sleep, pillow soaking in tears you caused. He never thought he would get betrothed to any other that wasn't you. Well, Baela now, looked joyed to be his future wife. And the future queen. Yet he can't stop thinking about the crowns you both would have worn. The children you both could have had. The love you both could have shared. He can't stop thinking about his euphoria.
And he doubts he ever would stop.

Dorana 2 let her mouth drop and broke eye contact on Oberon. Her palms are rubbing her clothes. Their mother, Dorana who is there, behind her daughter, proud of her daughter for apologizing, is surprise by her son’s rejection. “Why? Why won’t you forgive me?” Dorana 2 asked.
Oberon let out a sigh. “You bullied me. Bullying is a serious crime here on Earth as you get older. The older you get, you will forget what you have done, but the victims never forget. No amounts of apologies will never make up for it.”
“Oberon, she did not know about your existence back then,” Dorana defended.
He frowns at his mother, who he sees after eight years of living all alone. “She did not know that I was bullied for having no parents, and isolated me from you whenever I visited.” He said.
“What? Oberon, I didn’t know, we can talk about this, so that there is no more misunderstandings.” Said Dorana, heart crushed by what happened to her son.
“I don’t cares about it anymore. Goodbye!” Oberon declared.
“Oberon, wait!”
Dorana 2 grasping at Oberon’s arm. “Don’t go!”
Oberon narrowed his eyes and his arm phrased through, freed from her grasp. He turns invisible and fly away. Dorana 2 chasing after him.
“Dora!” Said their mother, follow her daughter and catch her in her arms.
“Mom! Let me go! I have to apologize!” Said Dorana 2. “I need to fixed this. We can be a family again.”
“Dorana 2, that is enough. The damages are done. I lost my son again. You got what you wanted.” She declared in quiet rage, with tears in her angry yet disappointed and despair in her eyes fall down in Dorana 2’s face.
Dorana 2’s conflicted eyes are shaken up as she see that she hurt her own mom’s feelings again.
~~
Hours have passed, Dorana 2 is in her room, at The Solaria’s Townsville summer house, rightfully punished for her actions. All while Dorana is sitting on a sofa in the living room, thinking about where she has messed up in parenting because she did not raise her daughter to be a bully. Argan, sitting next to her is comforting his big sister.
“I just don’t know what went wrong! She was suppose to be a good fairy. At the same time, Oberon should not be unforgiving toward her sister. They are just kids!” Said Dorana.
Argan nod, agreeing to her, but there is a doubt on his face because he is contemplating on what she said.
“You are not wrong, he is a kid, however he is knowledgeable. I don’t blamed Oberon building boundaries to protect himself, even if it means not wanting to be Dora’s brother,” Argan admitted. “Her words actually hurt. Oberon is not the only one who suffered and you enabled her behavior.” Her younger brother pointed it out. He brushed his red dyed short hair.
Dorana is conflicted by what he said. “Excuse me? What are you even saying little brother?”
“You cutted my hair short, while I was asleep and then suggested to dye my hair and change my attire to stop being teased.” Argan continued with a sad tone. “The most hurtful parts are it influenced my kids to do the same thing and you not being there for me, after all I done for you. That is why it all goes wrong….” He said. His words cause Dorana’s world to shaken in a realization. A realization that she changed for the worst. Where did the kind hearted queen who loves her brother, and not want to hurts his feelings ever again go?
“I do wonders, where did my big sister go?” The Co-King of Lumenia asked.
“I have no idea…..,” the Co-Queen of Lumenia answered.
Dorana 2 Starling of Lumenia and Oberon belong to @gloriousdreamunknown

"If you give me a prompt I'll write it 😈" - Aight Bet.
Danny didn't expect his sister to have a pen pal, she said it's someone from nanda Parbat?? Danny doesn't know where the Fuck that is but everytime he sees the letter that was sent(those are some fancy lookin envelopes) he could feel rancid Ectoplasm lingering around them.
Jazz has already noticed but took no caution about it, Jazz said that she had a son, her name was Talia (No Mentioned Last name) and she was a very odd woman.
Danny listened to Jazz ramble on about her new "friend", Her son Damian which her pen pal had talked about and even sent a drawing of(how fancy). Danny WOULD investigate and dig deep into it since he's the ghost king and all but jazz explicitly told him not to.
....
Meanwhile, Jazz plans to meet her 'Penpal Friend' soon. She's very excited but still cautious, The way her friend talked about her situations was... Concerning to say the least and jazz shall use her psychiatrical expertise to help her!
[Danny is very concerned, Dan is Very Concerned 2.0, Dani says "Yuri."]
-A.E. 👻
(I’m gonna change the context of your ask a little so Jazz already knows Talia’s identity before she meets her again in person. Also, this got really long lmaooo)
Talia gave her a small nod when she saw her. She lifted her head to meet Jazz’s gaze as Jazz gave her a dazzling smile.
“Hello, Talia,” Jazz said, pushing her hair behind her ears. “You look lovely.”
Talia avoided her gaze and just hummed. She cleared her throat lightly and then said, gesturing to the hallway, “This way.”
Jazz followed her at a set pace and said, “It’s good seeing you again. How are you? Did you enjoy the candy I shipped over?”
Talia nodded. “Yes. I gave them to my son and he enjoyed them. Thank you very much.”
Jazz beamed. She did not ask the burning question in her heart. Was Talia alright? Her letters to her had become less and less frequent in the past year before the most recent message to her had been a barely disguised begging for Jazz to come see her.
Jazz didn’t mind; she loved seeing Talia, who was startlingly dangerous and hauntingly beautiful, but it still worried her. Talia was a strong woman, but she wasn’t invincible, even with that pool of rancid ectoplasmic bath water. (She shuddered just thinking about it. She needed to ask Danny to wipe them out before Talia could hurt herself again using them.)
“Where are we going?” Jazz asked, glancing around. They were inside of a nice, expensive looking condo in Spain.
Talia paused in front of a door. She hesitated before she said slowly, “Jazz… I have valued your friendship greatly. In the last few years, you have become someone very dear to me. However, as you are already aware, I am in a dangerous position in my home. I do not wish to endanger you, especially since you are a civilian. If you do not wish to take this journey with me, then… you should turn around now.”
Jazz chuckled. How cute that Talia thought that Jazz was a helpless civilian. However, it had been Jazz who had accidentally enforced that idea within Talia’s mind. It was a little too late to correct that notion though, so Jazz just shook her head softly and tried to look reassuring for Talia.
“It’s too late for that.” She reached out to hold Talia’s hand, scarred and weathered from fighting, squeezing slightly. “I will accompany you and help you however I can.”
Talia nodded again, looking away. “Thank you… beloved.”
Jazz tilted her head curiously at the title, but did not say a word. Talia then opened the door and Jazz’s eyebrows rose as she stared at a young boy with similar features to the woman beside her. He scowled at her, but it just looked cute with his round cheeks.
Jazz turned to Talia. She already had an inkling, but she wanted to confirm. “This is…?”
“My son,” Talia said, “His name is Damian. And I earnestly beg you to take him in for me.”
“What! But mother!” Damian stood up and shouted, while Jazz’s eyebrows shot up again.
Talia gave him a light glare. She turned back to Jazz and it was cute how she had to look up at her. “My father is increasing pressure on us, and he is training Damian even harder. If this continues, Damian’s life could be in danger. I would’ve left him with his father, but Bruce’s lifestyle is… not what I want for Damian. Please, could you take him in, beloved?”
Damian shut his mouth with a click and both Al Ghuls stared at Jazz with wide eyes, one beseeching and one shocked.
Jazz smiled and reached out to hold Talia’s hand again. It was really nice to hold, and warm too. “Of course. You don’t have to worry, Talia. Like I’ve said, you can depend on me.”
Talia beamed. “Thank you, beloved.” She flipped Jazz’s hand and kissed the back of it softly. Jazz blushed. It felt strangely… intimate? But who was Jazz to judge? Maybe it was a League of Assassins custom! Or something! She didn’t get to meet Talia often, usually just exchanging weekly letters, so how would she know?
Talia turned back to Damian, still holding Jazz’s hand and said, “She will be your new caretaker. She is very important to me and you can trust her with your life. Call her… mom.”
Jazz side eyed Talia, but did not dispute it. Maybe it was some sort of spy plan? Like a code name? It would make more sense when a woman and a young boy were together for them to be mother and son.
Jazz also turned to Damian and let go of Talia’s hand to walk over to him slowly, keeping an open posture and friendly smile on her face.
Damian eyed Jazz as she approached and then knelt down respectfully before him. She smiled. “Hello, Damian. I’m Jazz, and I hope we can get along.”
Damian looked at his mother. They had some sort of silent conversation that Jazz did not understand, before Damian turned back to her. “Yes… it’s nice to meet you too… mom.”
Jazz smiled. “I’ll take care of you.”
Damian sniffed. “I certainly hope so.” He tried to look haughty, but he was so short compared to Jazz that it once again looked adorable and pouty.
Yep. It was official. Her siblings were going to eat him alive.
Jazz looked back at Talia, who was staring at them both with a soft expression. Strangely, the gentle look made Jazz’s stomach flutter.
Weird. Was she growing sick?
Talia blinked, noticing her gaze. “Is there something wrong, beloved?”
Jazz coughed at the nickname again. Damian eyed her like she was a walking disease and Talia just looked more and more worried. “Nope! So, uh, what’s the official plan?”
She stared at Talia, who just blinked and hummed, pursing her red, kissable lips.
Yep. Definitely sick.
(Talia: Heh! Cool, calm, and collected, with a dash of vulnerability! I’m definitely showing my best side to my beloved, Jazz! She’s so much better than that emotionally constipated Bruce!
Jazz: *completely and utterly oblivious to any advances made by another woman* Wow, Talia is so pretty today too. Surely, it is normal to want to hold hands and kiss another girl because she’s so pretty 😃 I wonder why she wants her kid to call me mom? 😃
Damian: …. Two moms? Is this my birthday?)

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 92 (Conrad's First Love)
cw: Conrad getting pretty spicy 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and not with Heather; references to human and drug trafficking (not depicted).
Follows the events of this post.
As she passed him to put away her gloves, a stunning redhead at Pappy Murphy's Boxing Gym caught Conrad's eye. Though he'd been deep in another bout of anger and self-pity over the death of his mother years earlier, he stopped his workout. Every inch of his being compelled him to talk to her.
She turned with a smile before he could stammer a single word. "Hi, handsome. Did you want a better look?"
He nervously introduced himself and she told him her name. "Ximena." The word floated from her lips like a song. He was instantly smitten.
"Ximena, could I buy you a drink?"
They spent the day in a local pub. He told her everything about his mother's death and his distance from his father in the years since. She listened, but she had a lot less to say about herself. "I live here with my brother. I'm a student, and I'm the only caretaker he has. Our parents aren't around anymore, and it's been just Rafa and me for years."
He could hear an accent when she spoke, and most people in Britechester weren't locals, so he made an assumption. "How long since you moved from Selvadorada?"
Surprised by his guess, she turned defensive. "I don't talk about Selva."
He liked her too much to press and push her away, so they spent the rest of the day flirting and discussing their interests until Ximena invited him back to her place. "You make me laugh, Conrad Gordon. My brother's still at school and I want to get to know you better without all this noise. I hate the music they play in here."
Once Conrad followed her out of the bar and back to the small home she shared with her kid brother, Rafa, he started following her everywhere.
He lost his virginity to her a week after they met. That night, she told him why she left Selvadorada.
"I was going to die or they were going to kill me. I wouldn't let them sell me to anyone anymore, so I made a plan and left with my brother in the middle of the night to come here."
She showed him the scars left by the cartel, and a resolve to keep her safe coloured his already steadfast affection. He let her cut his hair when she said she wanted to show him how freeing it felt to change his look. "It's nice not to recognize the person in the mirror, sometimes," she said.
She told him she was a student, often meeting him at Larry's Lagoon to study but usually distracting him into other activities. One afternoon, she introduced him to an old friend, Jimmy Stefano. "Can you help him out around campus? You're in the same major."
Something about Jimmy Stefano rubbed Conrad the wrong way, but he assumed it was jealousy. Despite this, he would already do anything for Ximena and agreed to take Jimmy under his wing.
He called his father to say he planned to stay at school for Spring Break. "Sorry, I know I said I'd come home to see you."
Stephen Gordon laughed him off, but masked slight disappointment. He had no idea whether his son was flourishing or floundering at college, unsure how he'd been coping so far from home. "Don't worry, son. I'm just glad you sound happy. You're making me and your mother proud."
He skipped classes to spend time with Ximena, but made no mention of this to his father, of course. He spent time with Rafa when Ximena said she had late-night classes, taking him to the park to play pirate captain versus sea monster, and talking endlessly with him about video games.
Rafa wanted to become a pirate captain in Sulani or a game tester in San Myshuno. He had almost no memory of life in Selva before his sister left, but he knew it was "the bad place." He liked spending time with Conrad because he said his sister was too strict. "She just loves you," Conrad assured him. "Parents have to set rules, and she can't just be your sister. She has to care for you like a parent, too."
He realized then how important it was to be a model for Rafa, who needed guidance as much as anyone his age. Conrad had always had his father, but who did Rafa have besides Ximena?
Conrad discovered how she paid for an entire house for her and her brother by accident, stumbling on an argument between her and Jimmy Stefano near the campus fountain. "The deal was thirty pounds for three grand."
"They said if I didn't have five grand they'd only give me fifteen. They had guns, Ximena."
"They all have guns! Knives, too. Get your own and figure out how to use it. Watcher, please, don't screw this deal up for me, Jimmy."
"Who has guns?"
"The cartel," said Jimmy, so nonchalant, yet it still hit Conrad like a missile. His stomach turned as he read Ximena's expression. Every lie she'd told him unravelled with a look.
"Are you really a student here, Ximena?"
"No. They're my customers."
He'd had his suspicions, but he'd always told himself he was wrong. Ximena was supposed to be perfect. Hoping against hope, he still tried to play the fool. "What do you mean?"
She dragged him back home to tell him the truth - how she'd bargained with the cartel to escape a life of servitude to the men who ran product all over Simlandia. She refused to serve them, but her way out was to join them instead.
Conrad was angry, but he couldn't stay mad at her for long. As they lay in bed that night, she asked, "Are you going to break up with me because of what I do?"
"Not a chance. I love you."
"I love you, too." She smiled, resting her head on his chest as he ran a hand through her newly blonde hair. "You look nice without glasses, Conrad."
"You already gave me a haircut, Xime. You don't like glasses?"
"Conrad, you're very sexy. But you hide it and it's silly."
"If you're going to give me a makeover, what should I get you?"
"Are you asking me?"
"Ximena, I want to give you everything you could ever want."
She blushed. "I want you, Conrad. But since I already have you, maybe...jewelry? Like a ring."
"You don't wear any rings."
"Because none are special enough, Conrad."
He smiled. "Alright, that's one idea. But say I wanted to surprise you, what else did you want?"
"You could join me running product for the cartel. Our lives would be made, and we'd always be together."
"I don't want to run product for the cartel, Ximena. But I'm not going anywhere. I'll always be there for you. Rafa, too."
"Right, but what if I go? Rafa loves you, Conrad, almost as much as me. But what if the cartel moved me somewhere else? Would you come with me? Maybe you could be, like, my security. No running, just keeping me safe. Always with me and Rafa."
He'd do anything to protect her, but he didn't answer her that day, refocusing on his studies until he returned to San Myshuno at the end of the semester.
He'd missed his father more than he expected, and they went for walks in warm sunshine by the Spice Market. They talked about school, and Conrad talked about Ximena - leaving out details of her career and focusing instead on her relationship with her brother. Conrad rarely asked his father about work, but Stephen hinted he was inching closer to retirement. "Chester's daughter Nancy is ready to take over the company, but Chester's not quite ready to retire. I think she's plotting a coup, but you didn't hear that from me."
"What happens to you if she pushes out her own father?"
"Hopefully, a retirement package. Chester may not be ready, but I think I am."
On one of their walks, they passed a jewelry store, and Conrad made a beeline for the ring counter. A confident salesman smiled as the Gordon men walked inside. "Welcome. What are we shopping for today?"
"I'm just looking," Conrad said. "What rings do you have?"
The salesman beamed. "Are we thinking of an engagement?"
Stephen eyed his son carefully, but Conrad shook his head. "Not right now. Just like, for an accessory."
"I don't know, son. A ring says you're ready for forever."
Conrad took his father's words to heart, considering what forever with Ximena might look like. He wanted to be with her, but he wasn't ready for a ring. He left that day with a nice bracelet for her, instead.
"Even leaving with a bracelet as nice as that one...she must mean something. I'd love to meet her."
Conrad nodded. "She might be able to visit this summer, if she's not too busy with work," he said.
Stephen smiled and the Gordon men continued their walk, strengthening the bond nearly severed by grief before Conrad returned to Britechester for another semester. ->
<- Previous Chapter | Gen 2 Start | Gen 1 Summary | Gen 1 Start
NOT FUN FACT: Conrad got crab lice from Ximena when they slept together for the first time, which is gross but also fitting I guess. And yet I didn't make it canon because it didn't quite fit the vibe. Plus, he wasn't supposed to find out that early on that Ximena was problematic.
WCIF Poses Used? Various from packs Old Souls Love Differently by @simmireen (when Ximena is blonde), Our First Time by @eclypt0sims (redhead), The Kiss by @simmerberlin (black hair) and Nights Like These by @sakurasims-world (also redhead).
WCIF Jewelry Store? Jewelry Store by Guinifere on the Sims 4 Gallery. Very elegant interior and comes with crafting tables, a vault, charging stations - very nice lot! Needs dressing up with completed jewelry on the counters and in displays to look really spectacular (and I of course went the lazy route), but I wouldn't if I was playing a retail career, and this is a great lot for someone who wants to be a jeweler!

Dearest Reader,
It has come to my attention that a Miss (Y/N) (Y/L/N), youngest daughter to Baron Arthur (Y/L/N), is making her debut, mid-season. Not only that, but she is almost one and twenty!
While this author cannot see the future, she can certainly predict it (and I do predict it well) - this season will be nothing if not eventful for Baron (Y/L/N) children.
—
As you stepped into the ballroom, the flutter in your stomach threatened to escape from your mouth.
Lady Whistledown had come out this morning, and your mother was enthralled by the mere mention of your name. This made her fuss over you all day, needing to make your debut even more ‘perfect.’
You tried on three different dresses before the right one was picked out. You had five hairstyles tried out before your mother decided on the very first one. You had spent two hours out in search of the perfect matching earrings and necklace.
You were exhausted by the time you had to get ready, and severely tense as you arrived at Lady Danbury’s ball.
Cassandra, your sister-in-law, squeezed your arm softly. “Take a deep breath. This is just a party.”
You quickly took a breath, sighing it out. “That is easy for you to say. You married my brother in your first season after courting for a week.”
Cassie opened her mouth probably to give you more words of encouragement when your brother butted in. “We cannot stand here and talk all night. You need to present yourself to suitors.”
Before you could even think about protesting, Matthew walked ahead of you with Cassie on his arm, leaving you to trail behind.
—
“That there is Miss Buchan, she’s the only child of Earl Buchan.” The dowager Viscountess Bridgerton was discreetly pointing out young ladies to her two eldest sons, whose attentions would rather be anywhere else.
Benedict was scanning the room for someone he could use to politely excuse himself from his mother’s matchmaking.
It would be an understatement to say he wasn’t interested in marrying yet. He had just recently started at Art School and wanted nothing more than to enjoy his work as a bachelor.
That’s when he spotted Lady Danbury. Normally he avoided the woman, as she could be as scheming as his mother, but she seemed like his only refuge.
“Excuse me, Mother, but I believe I should give my regards to Lady Danbury for the invite.” Benedict bowed to Violet before quickly heading off in the direction of the hostess.
He thought about turning away last minute, evading all the prying eyes of those who might want to set him up, but something caught his attention - the once-alone lady of the house was now talking with a young lady. One he had yet to see in the sea of lovely debutantes.
“Mr. Bridgerton!” Lady Danbury’s distinct voice cleared his mind as he approached. “To what do I owe the pleasure?” She knew better than anyone that the Bridgerton boys tried to avoid her at these balls.
Benedict bowed, offering a smile. “Lady Danbury, I just wanted to compliment your wonderful party.”
Lady Danbury raised her, knowing that there was an ulterior motive. She glanced at where Violet Bridgerton was standing with her eldest, noticing her eyes were following her second child.
She flashed a scheming smile and turned her attention back to the young lady she was with. “Where are my manners? Miss (Y/N), this is Mr. Benedict Bridgerton. Mr. Bridgerton, may I present to you Miss (Y/N) (Y/L/N). This is her first ball, so I expect you to be on your best behavior. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I should go talk to your mother.”
She gave him a little pat on the shoulder, pushing him towards you as she went to Violet.
You lightly curtseyed as Benedict bowed his head to you. As you stood up straight, you froze, staring into the most beautiful blue eyes. Your heart skipped a beat as you took in the man’s features, stunned that someone such as him could be before you.
“Miss (Y/L/N).” He took your gloved hand and lifted it to his lips, pressing the gentlest kiss one could muster.
“Mr. Bridgerton,” you returned, not knowing what else to say. He had captured any words that might formulate within you.
His grasp lingered on your hand, longer than one might consider proper. It was good that the two of you were sequestered to the back of the ball.
At least you had thought you were hidden away.
A hand and sudden voice from behind told you how wrong you were.
“(Y/N), we have been looking for you. We turned around and you had disappeared.” Cassie let go of her husband to take your arm. “Who might you be talking to?” She asked, hiding the joy she felt for her best friend talking to a very eligible bachelor.
Benedict bowed to her and introduced himself before you could do it. “Benedict Bridgerton, at your service.” He joked lightly, and you bit your lip softly as you smiled.
“Bridgerton,” Matthew said as he bowed his head. “I’ve done quite a bit of business with your brother.”
If it wasn’t for Cassie being between you, you would have elbowed your brother right in the ribs for creating such a boring conversation.
Luckily, Cassie was thinking similarly enough to you. “Now now, my love. I’m sure Mr. Bridgerton does not need to hear about his own brother.”
Benedict chuckled, agreeing with her. “Yes, well, as well not needing to hear from him.” He joked, just as a hand landed on his shoulder.
“Well, Brother, maybe I shall take a look at your allowance?” Viscount Bridgerton came up out of the blue.
It seems as though each of your siblings was trying to prevent the two of you from speaking.
And they just kept coming.
Eloise Bridgerton arrived next, in an effort to escape from her mother. “Anthony, Benedict, you really must not leave me alone with Mama.” She sounded sort of breathless as if she had rushed here.
You cleared your throat, suddenly feeling parched. “Pardon me…” You muttered to no one in particular. Matthew and the Viscount seemed to be conversing about business, while Eloise tried to convince Benedict to return to their mother for her.
Cassie silently went along with you, still holding your arm.
You were silent as you made your way to the refreshments table, grabbing the first glass in front of you. You tried to appear as ladylike as possible while you practically gulped down the lemonade.
“I am so sorry for our interruption, (Y/N),” Cassie said after you had finished. “I did not realize you were speaking with a Bridgerton.”
You shook your head, setting the glass down. “It’s alright. We didn’t really start to converse yet.” Not that you had the chance.
She picked up a glass herself and took a sip, her thoughts lingering. “You seemed… quite enamored with him.”
You scoffed, but not in a way to be rude. “Did you even look at him, Cassie? He’s…” You were at a loss for words as your gaze landed back on the Bridgerton in question. His eyes were wandering, ignoring both of your brothers. They wandered and wandered… until they eventually landed.
On you.
Your eyes met for the second time that night, but this time you quickly looked away, cheeks growing hot.
That wasn’t before you noticed his perk up and began heading in your direction.
“Cassie, he’s coming over here. What do I do?” You ask in a panic. The only men you’ve ever really talked to were your father and brother, and neither counted towards this.
She put both hands on your shoulders, making you look at her. “Just be yourself.”
That’s the best advice you have, you thought to yourself.
You barely had the time to think up a response when Benedict made it to you, bowing his head again in greeting. “Mrs. and Miss (Y/L/N).”
You both courtesy, Cassie standing up before you. “I believe my husband needs me.” She says before snicking off, leaving you two alone.
“Mr. Bridgerton,” you say after a moment, lifting your eyes to take a look at his features. Features that seem to be drilled into your mind from the beginning of the night. “Has my brother bored you so much you seek me out?” You joke in a self-deprecating manner, knowing you aren’t exactly worthy of his attention.
He smiled at your humor but shook his head. “Our brothers together are an apparent force to be reckoned with, but it is not them that brings me here. It’s you.”
Your breath caught in your chest at those last two words.
He actually wanted to be around you. There is nothing you could’ve hoped for more.
He looked around your surroundings before having you take his arm. “It gets so stuffy in here, does it not? Let us get some fresh air.”
“Just the two of us?” You asked with raised eyebrows. You had never been left, unchaperoned; yet the thought of it, with Benedict… it excited you.
He smiled a crooked but sweet smile. “Only if we leave now, while no one’s watching.”
You smile back, looking around as you follow him quickly into the hall before going out a backdoor into the gardens.
In the first few moments you observed him under the moonlight, your whole future played out. Everything centered around him.

When I was nine years old, my grandfather died.
He was a life long smoker, and lung cancer got him. He died slowly in a hospital bed that had been brought into their house, and we made the trip so South Dakota as a family to watch him die.
He couldn't move on his own. He was weak and wasting away, and they needed to periodically turn him so he wouldn't get bed sores. I had never heard of bed sores before that, and I was scared of them, of the mere concept that someone could be so immobilized that their body would start to ache. His skin was thin and translucent, showing every liver spot and wrinkle in bold, and his eyes were sunken in. There was a smell of death and disinfectant in the house, warring for my nostrils.
My parents were going through a divorce at the time, so my dad wasn't with us. My grandfather, on his deathbed, told me that he wanted me to change my last name to be my mother's. It was important to him. He was leaning forward, using his limited strength to be emphatic, dry mouth forming the words.
It's kind of a fucked up deathbed request. I didn't end up doing it, mostly because I was nine, and as I grew older I started to resent the request, which had sat very heavy with me when I was little.
His sons built his coffin in the driveway. My grandfather was a woodworker, among other things, and it was their way of honoring him, but they also argued during the course of the building, and I didn't like the sounds of the power tools or the nails being driven in. It was a very plain coffin, I remember, and I always wondered where the idea to make it using his tools, in the driveway had come from. Symbolically, I guess there's something there, building the vessel of death, but at the time it just felt really off-putting and morbid.
My aunt was a doctor, and she was doing most of the work of taking care of him, helping to rotate his body, double-checking the medications, making sure that he was as comfortable as he could be.
But my grandfather made her a deathbed request to her too, and it was that she kill him. That's a lot to ask from your own child, and moreso because she could have lost her ability to practice medicine if anyone found out, but I also thought ... I don't know, that someone else should have done it? He was in pain, and not always lucid, but he'd made his request, and we were all waiting on him to die.
And so I thought, at nine years old, that I would do it, find some way to grant at least that wish, to end his suffering.
I didn't end up doing that either, because I was little.
I didn't know my grandfather all that well, because he died when I was young. We built a wooden toy together when I was seven, before he'd gotten so sick, and he gave me some wood carving tools that I never used. He had been a farmer before he lost the farm, and losing that farm was one of those things that echoed through my mom's childhood, but I don't remember him ever talking about it. He was a conscientious objector in World War II, because he was a Mennonite, but unlike my other grandfather, I don't remember him every telling me any stories about it.
I think overall it's good to let kids know that people die, to not shield them from it completely, but I don't think I endorse putting a child that close to death, not for so much time, or at least not a child like me.
(If you've read some of my fiction, you might recognize this as a very similar to something Juniper says in Worth the Candle, and yes, that part of the book, like many others, is roughly autobiographical.)

One of the things Daemon Targaryen loved most about women were their breasts. He was a great breasts lover, whether they were large, small or medium, different colors of nipples...
Although Daemon liked cunts, butts, thighs and hips too, nothing compared to his appreciation for breasts. He loved Laena's medium breasts, he had loved Rhaenyra's small breasts when she was young and then he also grew to loved how big they were after she was pregnant six times. And even though he hated to admit it, he actually enjoyed watching Alicent's tiny underdeveloped breasts covered by her pretty dresses when she was a teenager, before she married his older brother and became a fucking annoying bitch with each passing year of her adult life.
With his arrival at Harrenhal, it all seemed too much. Maybe it was the conversations with the weird healer, Alys Rivers, but he was feeling... Tempted. He was constantly having dreams and nightmares, involving Rhaenyra, Laena and even his mother, who he could not even meet because she passed away when he was just a little baby. His mind was tormented by strange and troubled thoughts, peculiar desires. Daemon was never known for being the most loyal partner in the world, but he did never even considered cheating on Rhaenyra during the recent years.
However, staying at Harrenhal was destroying what little sanity that he still had. When it was not the nightmares and macabre visions in the wreckage of the castle or Alys Rivers talking cryptically to him, it was you trying to seduce him. He did not know almost anything about you. From the few rumors he heard in those days, you must be some daughter of Alys Rivers or more likely her younger sister. Either way, you were probably a bastard of House Strong too. He did not care much about your constant glances in his direction, or how you seemed to devour him with your hungry eyes. Daemon had more important things to do than care about a little girl who was turned on about him.
Well... At least he thought that way until he woke up from a nightmare. Another terrible nightmare. Another erotic dream with his mother, Alyssa Targaryen. He did not even know her, but his mind was making him think about her all the time during the dream. The full and pretty lips, the pointed nose, the extremely beautiful and sensual violet eyes, the delightful body and milky skin, the curves of the hips, the stretch marks on the stomach, the large breasts... Damn, those damn breasts. What kind of curse could that stupid castle be poisoning him, making Daemon dream he was being breastfeeding by his own mother? The woman he had never even met. It was so disgusting, and yet he could not help but groan in frustration when he woke up, realizing that there was no more milk on his lips. Alyssa was not truly called him her favorite son, she was not stroking his hair while he was being fed...
Daemon was about to stand up and take a deep breath, before his eyes widened as he felt his member being pressed. Or rather, crushed against two soft things.
"Seven Hells... What the fuck?" He moaned in confusion, opening eyes with his vision still blurred, despairing when he saw you smirking, rubbing his cock between your big breasts.
"Another nightmare?" You teased, your voice sounding more sensual than all the brothel whores he had fucked in the past. And the quantity was really high. "About your hot mommy?"
Daemon kept his eyes wide, stuttering like a pathetic little boy. He did not look like the almost fifty years old King Consort and exceptional warrior anymore, you had turned him into a confused mess, moans echoing as you pressed your own breasts harder, making his cock disappear in the middle. "S-Stop it! Stop it right now or I will rip your head off!"
His death threat was not real. Both of you knew that. He would not kill you. He did not even truly want you to stop. He needed more physical touch, he needed to have sex, to feel the warmth of a woman again, something Rhaenyra had been denying him since the labour of the stillborn Visenya and Lucerys' murder, as well as the death of his father, the usurpation of her Iron Throne caused by the Greens and her anger knowing that Daemon was the causer for the death of a little child. The innocent Jaehaerys, firstborn son of Helaena and Aegon.
Daemon knew he should understand her reasons. But he was also a man with high sexual desires, and given the chaos in their marriage, he was more than eager to cum.
Considering how sensitive and even sore his cock already was, Daemon pictured you had been taking advantage of his body for hours while he slept, raping him during his erotic nightmares. Now, he was sure you already knew what he was dreaming about and what he wanted and needed so much.
"Would you rather kill me or cum on my breasts and my face for the third time?" You asked mockingly and the man frowned, swallowing hard with embarrassment and some irritation when he finally noticed that your breasts were already covered with his cum and your face had a few drops of it too. You were making the most of the situation.
Instead of answering you, Daemon swallowed hard again and pushed his hips higher, starting to help you to fuck your breasts, your tongue touching the head of his cock and making him moan and growl, desperate for a distraction and eager to cum as many times as possible his body could handle it. "Y-You are going to pay for this..." He groaned, squirming when you placed your hands on your breasts and tightening them harder. "O-Oh, fuck. You fucking bastard whore... Rhaenyra will want to kill us when she finds out about this." Daemon threw his head back, body trembling while he released his seed with a guttural moan, painting your face with those white drops again.
Daemon heard you chuckle and saw you run your fingers over your cheeks, licking the cum and smirking at him, who was still panting and with a look mixed with anger, lust and hesitation. He wanted so badly to strangle you or fuck you until your breasts became even bigger and heavier after the bastard children that he would insist on placing inside your womb.
"I have my doubts that your wife will care about your incestuous dreams or your extramarital affairs here in Harrenhal. She is too busy wanting to fuck your ex-lover. Mysaria, I guess." The sudden appearance of Alys Rivers and her words left Daemon stunned. He wanted to tell her to fuck off and that she was just lying for fun, but he fell silent when she started tearing off her nightgown, her body with beautiful breasts approached the two of you as she crouched next to you on the bed, crushing and scratching the soft flesh of your chest with her long nails, giving you an intense kiss, both of your mouths hungry for each other, blood dripping from the bites. Daemon's eyes remained focused and wide at the sight, just as his cock became hard again. "I guess Daemon can handle a few more orgasms before he goes completely insane, right, little sister?" Alys Rivers teased and you nodded with a giggle, giving her one last kiss before the two of you smirked at each other, watching as Daemon closed his eyes so he could try to control himself as you began to pump his cock, already so creamy with his own seed, ached and sensitive. Alys took advantage of the fact that your hands being busy and she put Daemon's big and thick member inside her mouth, one hand caressing his balls carefully and the other hand fingering deeply and roughly her sister's tight little cunt.
In fact, Harrenhal was driving Daemon insane and seemed to be so fucking haunted, because as soon as he woke up, there was no trace that what the three of you did during the night had actually happened. Every day staying inside was like being on the brink of complete madness. He never knew what was real or a hallucination. All he knew was that during the following afternoon, he saw you and Alys sharing mocking giggles at the sight of him looking very scared and confused, walking around the castle.

“Mijo, can I ask you something?” Carlos nodded without taking his eyes off his computer. “Is this why you wanted to be a ranger? To solve your father’s case?”
Carlos looked at his mother in confusion as she joined him on the couch. To him, that question was rather like asking, “Is this why you took that umbrella; because it’s raining outside?”
But Carlos would never talk to his mama like that. So he just said, “When I become a ranger, I could get access to his old case files. The killer is in one of those. I can feel it. I just need to get in there and find out who”.
“Carlitos, your father had hundreds of open cases when he died,” Andrea said, running a hand through his curls. “Amor, look at me”. Carlos finally looked up from the computer and faced his mother.
“Are you doing this for me?” she asked softly. “Because this is your career, and your life. I don’t want you feeling like you have to do this”.
Carlos sighed. “Mama, you’re the one who told me that I should do this”.
“No, I’m the one who said you didn’t have all the information and to talk to your father,” his mother corrected him. “And that was nine months ago, mijo. A lot has happened since then”.
“Yeah back then, I could put both my feet on the ground at the same time and just start walking,” Carlos murmured. “Oh, what a time that was”.
“Carlitos”. Andrea tsk tsked. “Other things have happened, that I’ve come to terms with”.
“Like what?” Carlos frowned. He genuinely had no idea where this conversation was going.
“Like that we might not ever know who killed your father”. His mother spoke slowly, but clearly.
But to Carlos, she may as well have been speaking a language only she understood.
“You’re lying”. The words were out of Carlos’s mouth before he could stop them.
His mother’s eyes narrowed. “You think I lie to you, mijo? Ever?”
“No. Of course not”. Carlos sighed. Stupid crutches; he could really use the ability to get up and pace right about now. “I’m sorry”. He said, reaching out and taking his mother’s hands. “I—I didn’t mean that. But I don’t understand what you just said,” he added. “Mama, this… whoever it was… they parked in your driveway, knocked on the door, and killed your husband in less time than it took to answer the door”.
“I know, mijo”. His mother said, gently stroking his face with one hand. “I know what happened. I was there. And I know that no matter what the answer to the question is, it won’t change anything. It won’t bring your father back”.
“Of course it’ll change things”. Carlos protested. “Whoever did this, they need to answer for it. It would get justice for Dad’s death. He deserves that”.
“What you deserve and what you get are two very different things, mijo,” his mother said. Not sadly, but matter-of-factly. “Because I want justice for your father, too. But if the price for justice is too high, then I’m worried that paying it is not worth it”.
“There is no price too high”. Carlos said.
“There is if it means losing my son over it,” Andrea said sharply. Out of instinct, Carlos sat up straighter. No one messed with that tone.
“Mama”. Carlos sighed. “I’m really fine. And this,” he gestured to the knee he couldn’t put any stupid weight on, “this happened on a call. When I was on patrol. This wasn’t because of Dad’s case”.
“I know it wasn’t”. Andrea nodded. “But Carlitos, in your mind, if you are looking for justice to avenge your father, to get justice for your mother, would you stop at anything? Until it’s too late?” When he didn’t answer, she whispered, “I miss your father every day, Carlitos. I still talk to him when I say my prayers every single night. And it isn’t fair that he isn’t here. But it’s not fair if you turn your life upside down trying to find who did this. Your father wouldn’t want that for you. You are so young. You have a husband who is so in love with you. You deserve to have the rest of your life”. She leaned over and kissed her son on the forehead. “Is TK coming to pick you up for physical therapy?” she asked.
“He was,” Carlos said, blinking rapidly. He didn’t trust himself not to cry. “But,” he looked at his phone, “he just texted he hasn’t been able to leave yet. Could…” he swallowed. “Could you give me a ride?”
His mother smiled at him. “Are you asking for help, mijo?”
“Maybe”. Carlos shrugged. “I can still get myself into the car, though. I just look real stupid doing it”.
“Por favor”. His mother shook her head. “You’re not making that knee worse. Let’s go”.
(This isn't strictly canon - part of an active WIP I have about Carlos that ends with him not knowing who killed his father and it seems the show is about to tell us who it was-
But I saw your post this morning and it made me sit down and write this and I wanted to share it with you- and I hope you're having a good day <3 <3 <3 )
Oh this is so lovely thank you for sending it to me 🥺
#911ls asks#I am have an incredibly frustrating day tbh but I should log off. that would help#this is so sweet I am going to read it five times and then head out

Jason Stryker Wasn’t Evil, He Was a Product of His Father’s Hatred
Let’s talk about Jason Stryker from X2: X-Men United. He’s often labeled as the creepy mutant who tortured others with his illusions, but let’s dig deeper into his story. Because, spoiler alert: Jason wasn’t evil. He was a victim.
Jason wasn’t born with hatred or malice in his heart. He was a kid—a vulnerable, frightened child with a unique gift he didn’t ask for. When we hear about his father, William Stryker, pulling him out of Xavier’s school because there was no “cure” for his mutation, we start to understand the pressure and pain Jason endured at home. His parents, likely furious at what they saw as their son’s “failure,” turned him into a target for their fear and disgust. Imagine being a kid in that environment, belittled and berated simply for existing.
It’s not hard to picture the constant verbal and emotional abuse Jason faced. William and his wife probably reminded him daily that he was a "disgusting mutant," an "abomination" that needed fixing. Those words cut deeper than any weapon, especially from the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally. The shame and self-loathing they instilled in him festered, turning into anger—anger he couldn’t control.
And then came his mother. The one person he probably thought would protect him. But if William convinced her that Jason was an irredeemable monster, she may have become just as complicit in the abuse. Jason didn’t choose to drive her to suicide; he lashed out in the only way his mutation allowed. His illusions weren’t an act of malice—they were a desperate, anguished cry for help. His horrifying images weren’t designed to kill; they were his attempt to make her understand his torment, the pain she and William caused him every single day.
Jason wasn’t born a monster. He was made into one by his father’s hatred.
By the time we see him in X2, he’s not even a person anymore—he’s a tool. William has stripped him of autonomy, turning him into a pawn for his own twisted vendetta against mutants. Jason, drugged, brainwashed and lobotomized, has no agency. Every illusion he casts under Stryker’s orders is a reflection of the years of manipulation and control he’s endured. He’s as much a victim as the mutants his illusions torment.
What’s heartbreaking is imagining the life Jason could have had. If William had left him at Xavier’s school, Jason might have learned to control his powers. He might have found love and acceptance among others like him. He might have grown up as someone who used his illusions to inspire wonder and joy instead of fear.
But William didn’t allow that. He chose to see his son as a failure and a disgrace, and that choice destroyed Jason. It’s not Jason’s fault he became what he did. It’s William’s.
So no, Jason Stryker wasn’t evil. He was a child who needed love and got cruelty instead. He was a boy who could’ve been saved, if only his father had allowed it. Jason deserved better. And so did every mutant who’s ever been told they’re less than human.

Two Brains drove surprisingly calm this time down the roads. It made Henry and Hyde somewhat nervous. Both noticed the grim expression on the mad scientist’s face. “Is everything alright, dearest?” Henry asked with concern. Two Brains didn’t immediately respond and seemed to ponder on what he should say. He seemed to relent as he began to respond to his boyfriend’s question. “Honestly, I’m not…and you won’t be as well. The truth is, I gave a half truth about our lunch date. I’ll stop by somewhere and pick us something to-go, but I’m taking you to my warehouse. The chaotic four and I need to talk to you about Lucian.” Two Brains admitted. Henry looked shocked. He understood why Two Brains gave a lie earlier since there were other people around including Amber. For pete’s sake he nor Edward mentioned Lucian to Rachel yet. “Did he bother ye as well today?” Henry asked in a worried tone. Two Brains looked alarmed by Henry’s question. “Not me, but that’s not important right now. What do you mean by today?” Two Brains asked, looking just about as panicked as Henry and Hyde even though he couldn’t see him. “Well ah unfortunately ran into Lucian at the park earlier. Ah was taking Amber there to play because she had a terrible nightmare last night about her experience. Ah was trying to make her feel better. Luckily, Adrian came by and scared Lucian off. Turns out he is part vampire as well. Ah asked Adrian to stay with us until we had to leave so Lucian wouldn’t try coming back. Unfortunately, Tobey had launched his robots to attack because he was upset with Gabriel and was worried about me when ah didn’t come to class today. Ah asked Adrian to take Amber back to the apartment while ah tried to convince Tobey to calm down. Luckily he did, but then his mother came and took him away. She was quite cross with him. Wordgirl took me back to the apartment but Adrian had already left by the time we arrived. Wordgirl returned back to school by the time ye called me.” Dr. Two Brains was feeling a mix of worry, relief, anger and irritation after Henry told him his story. “I’m glad you’re okay and Lucian didn’t hurt you or Amber. I just wish you wouldn’t risk your life again even if it was to help Tobey.” Two Brains exclaimed. Henry gave him a sheepish smile. “Rachel already gave me a lecture about that. Ah honestly feel bad for Tobey and consequently his mother. Ah know it’s not me place to judge others parenting, but ah feel Tobey and his mother are having a hard time compromising on how to help him properly express his emotions through non violent means. He is a brilliant child, but he doesn’t have to use his robots for nefarious deeds.” Two Brains was amazed and moved by Henry’s concern for the kid, just another reason why he loved that man. “Mrs. McCallsiter isn’t honestly a bad parent. I met her a few times and she does love her son. It’s not the villainy she gets frustrated with mainly, it’s the bills and complaints she receives from Tobey’s destructive rampages that get her mad. Tobey does love his mom as well even though he is also terrified of her anger. She definitely does a much better job than her ex husband could ever do.” Two Brains remarked with a huff. Henry looked surprised. He hadn’t met Tobey’s father and assumed his parents were either divorce or it was similar to Becky’s situation with an absent or dead parent. “Ah never met Tobey’s father. Does Mr. Mcallister live in Fair City or not?” Henry inquired, momentarily forgetting about Lucian. Two Brains winced as he realized he admitted too much and he knew Henry would not like his answer. “His last name isn’t McCallister, it’s Claire’s maiden name."
Henry felt devastated for his oldest friend. "That's absolutely horrible. I can't possibly imagine what Robert is going through. Even though he had issues with his father, this would no doubt affect him greatly.” His heart ached for Robert. Having lost his father due to a murder. Who could've done that? Was it the same person who attempted to kill Mr. Danvers Carew with the fire which Hyde got framed for? “You said it seemed personal. Why do you say that, old friend?” The lawyer took a moment to answer. “The murder was grisly and there wasn't anything stolen from the crime scene. It sounded more than just a robbery gone wrong. If it was truly that, expensive items would've been missing yet it all remained. I'm honestly shocked that Robert never told you. You two were always so close. Practically inseparable from college.” Henry looked visibly uncomfortable and solemn due to what his friend had said. “Thank you for telling me this. I do hope Robert will tell me about this on his own time. I won't force him or rush him.” Gabriel nodded at that. “Are you going to tell him?” The teacher seemed hesitant to answer that. “I will, once he has his own problems sorted. I would rather not add onto his problems with my own.” While it was true, Henry also didn't want to make things more complicated for Robert. He knew that his best friend had HJ7 and possibly could have ingested it. Leading to his own soul being split. It would only stress him out which could lead to his possible version of Hyde to get better control over him. It would only serve as ammo Robert's counterpart could use against him. “That is quite understandable. You two have been through a lot. Also considering the incident with your former employee. Mr. Hyde. It's been so stressful for both of you.” Hyde felt nervous whenever Gabriel would mention him. It felt like he could so easily uncover who he truly was to Henry. It was why he never appeared around him either. It's not that they didn't trust him. Not at all. As crazy as Hyde thought he was, he didn't want to possibly lose a friend he technically never met. He actually liked Gabriel and knew that the lies Henry kept would hurt the man deeply. It was a shared fear between Henry and Edward. “Thank you for understanding that, Gabriel. Also thank you for helping me.” Gabriel offered him a warm smile. “Of course. I would do anything for my dearest friends.” It troubled Henry. Why didn't Robert say anything about his father? Yet again, Robert did keep it a secret that he had a vial of HJ7 too. Becky looked confused, she had known about the murder of Dr. Lanyons father before he did. She was sure he would've known. Before the young girl could think about it further, she heard a voice calling for her. It was her uncle's voice. She listened to him calling, luckily Gabriel was too occupied with Henry to notice that. She went over to her father and tugged at his sleeve. Making Dr.Two-Brains lean over so she could whisper into his ear. “Dad, Uncle Alan is calling me. It sounds really urgent, I'll be back as soon as possible.” The mad scientist seemed reluctant to let her leave but nodded. “Alright, please don't take too long. Be careful.” With that said, Becky left. The moment she was alone, checking to make sure it was safe, Becky transformed and flew straight to Alan's and Hugh's apartment. She wondered why he called for her instead of going there himself. It must've been something serious. When she arrived, Becky went to the apartment she knew they resided in. Giving the door a couple of knocks before it was answered by Alan. Behind him were the other three of the four. “Uncle Alan? What are the others doing here?” His expression remained stoic. “We wanted to tell you something. We need you to tell your dad to turn his phone on. We have urgent information to tell him. Something has happened. We need to tell him what as well as the information we gained from it.”
Becky looked alarmed at what her uncle had just said. "Does it have something to do with Dr. Barriton?" Becky inquired as she remembered her dad telling her about the blonde scientist. Becky never really met him since the guy was fired when she was a baby. Her dad did describe him as an absolute narcissus and prick who was Athena's cousin. Becky didn't hold it against anyone to be related to that psycho woman since her twin brother Eris was a good person. She held the man's character and lack of morals against him. Alan shook his head. "No, it wasn't Calvin. Have you heard any of the adults speak of a Lucian Bennett?" Alan asked his niece. Becky pondered the question a bit and shook her head. "Not really, no." She answered. "Who is he?" The four looked at each other, not really sure how to explain. Hugh decided to speak about the man and his encounter to a degree. "We are not entirely sure who Lucian is as a person, but we know he is like Edward Hyde. By that, I mean he is the counterpart of someone who took the HJ7 formula." Becky's eyes widened at Hugh's explanation. There was someone out there who had their own Mr. Hyde! "Does Dr. Jekyll know about Lucian?" Becky asked in an urgent tone. The others gave a nod. "Yeah, he is aware of Lucian. He is also aware of the man having his own variation of the HJ7 formula though he isn't entirely sure how it is possible." Jenkins explained. "Listen, Becky. We really need to get in touch with your dad. It's difficult to explain but Lucian had nearly gotten physical with Hugh. We need to tell your dad what we know and what happened. Alan couldn't fly to Henry's house since it would have caused some alarm and we know the others are still recovering from Athena's attack. That is why he contacted you." Patricia explained in a serious tone. Becky nodded as she understood the gravity of the situation. "Okay, I'll get my dad." The heroine then took off back to Dr. Jekyll's apartment. "Where did your daughter run off too?" Gabriel asked. "Oh, she remembered she had to go outside and call her uncle Alan and let him know she couldn't spend the night at his and Hugh's home this Friday since personal things came up." Dr Two Brains quickly explained. Utterson looked surprised at the response. "She had to take her phone call outside." The lawyer exclaimed with a slightly suspicious tone. Two Brains internally panicked. 'Why can't this guy be as dumb as the rest of the civilians in this city.' "Oh well it was special bonding family thing they had this weekend though Becky is no longer feeling up to it. She and her uncle Alan have unique traditions that are not meant for other ears to hear. It shouldn't take to long for Becky to speak with Alan." Two Brains exclaimed. Henry seemed to catch onto the hidden meaning of his boyfriends' words and decided to help cover for him. "It's a strange but endearing characteristic that my boyfriend's family has. They like to keep their personal businesses private, even if it is just regular, family matters." Henry added. Gabriel looked a bit confused but quickly shook it off for now. "If you say so, Henry." He then turned to Dr. Two Brains. "So your brother is dating Dr. Mann?" Gabriel asked Two Brains shook his head. "No, Alan is dating Hugh, but he isn't my brother. He is technically my brother-in-law. He is Becky's mom's sibling." The mad scientist corrected. In what seemed to be a short amount of time, Becky returned inside. "Hey, kiddo. How did your talk with Uncle Alan go on the phone?" Dr. Two Brains inquired. Becky greeted her dad with a smile but Two Brains and Henry could tell that it was faked. "It went well, but he wanted me to let you know to turn on your phone. Hugh and the other four have been trying to reach you and see how you were doing." Becky respond. Two Brains looked embarrassed and quickly pulled out his phone to turn it on. His eyes widened as he saw the missed calls. "Oops. Sorry. I turned my phone off because I was having a conversation with Henry and didn't want to be disturbed." Two Brains exclaimed. @unhingedexperimenter

randomly hits you with the flowey brainblast
Ok ok hear me out but!!! I think Flowey eventually becomes comfortable living with Toriel at first he just kinda. Sneaks around like a little creep... You know how stray cats will occasionally just hang out for a bit before leaving? I think that's what Flowey did, like he'd just watch Toriel while in little hiding spots because he hadn't really decided by that point if he was ready to go back to being a son along with the anxieties that she wouldn't think he's good enough the way he is and that she'd want Asriel and not him :Ccc... I think he'd occasionally get Toriel a glass of water and tuck her into bed when it gets late or she seems to be relapsing... He'd probably get a little frustrated with her and give her notes sometimes that lightly scold her with like a glass of water/little snack next to it...
At some point I think Toriel would catch the little home intruder and attempt to repay him by letting him stay with her, making him food cause she'd assume he has nowhere to go and that's why he keeps breaking in. Not that she's necessarily wrong about that but he TECHNICALLY has Papyrus to go to. After that he more openly comes and goes and will occasionally talk to her but still be too nervous,,, they chat every now and again about things, sometimes wacky and mundane and other times kind of deep. Toriel and Flowey grow close, and she'd eventually tell him he's like a son to her and he doesn't have to leave if he doesn't want to because she's more than ok with him being there. Flowey can't take it anymore so he admits it. He used to be Asriel. The reason he's like a son to her is because he is her son. Toriel just isn't sure how to process it at first. She tries to see any hints of him messing with her but she can tell this is the most genuine he's ever been in his life. They both cry a little cry a lot,,, Toriel tells him that for so long Asriel's birthday has been the hardest for her. She remembered it after all this time and marked it on the calendar. Flowey pretends to not know already because he likes the smile she gets on her face when she thinks he's learning she really cares about him.
#flowey#flowey headcanon#flowey undertale#toriel#toriel and flowey :)#they make me happy#best mother son duo i think#i should talk about toriel more........#smiles at you#was going to doodle for this but it turned into a ramble#i hope this makes sense#undertale#post pacifist#long post#text post#i think theyre neat#i think flowey is very mischievous and toriel just kinda Sighs.#but i think sometimes she'd break and just laugh at his antics cause how do you even do this flowey?????#i think frisk goes home after everything to explain why toriel would be lonely btw#that doesn't mean they ditch all their monster friends it just happens they have a family to go back home to

finally watching channel zero and i immediately have so many thoughts in the first ten minutes
#random thoughts#candle cove#okay so first: the fly#obviously represents mike in some way#it was drowning in a glass which was given to him complimentary. something about struggling to feel like he belongs in his life?#like it was something given to him that he does not deserve and does not make him happy#his relationship with his wife is obviously strained. his son is mentioned so far only in relation to his career#though his mother says he's always welcome the framing in the kitchen is claustrophobic#either only one of their faces is in camera very close or they're clustered together in one half of the kitchen#his mother is a foster parent or a teacher of some kind. possibly trying to fill the void made empty#by what she views is the disappearance of both her sons#though mike said his father was out of the picture he seems shocked his mother doesn't have pictures of him around#probably not dead but has left and mike blames her somehow and views his father as blameless#when his brother disappeared mike also lost a mother. and his mother lost both her sons#their dialogue is very. distant and impersonal. no questions about each others' lives. no questions about his wife and son.#and mike seems to struggle with children despite being a child psychologist. in both times we've seen him he's been overly friendly#and strained. in the dream sequence we see him snap at the child to turn the tv off#which is more evidence to the idea mike feels he doesn't belong in his career#he may also be experiencing some kind of depersonalization of others (the mannequins behind the cameras)#possibly believing his actions to ultimately not matter because those there to witness them are not truly people#hope to see what kind of relationships he DOES form or if his sense of relationships has been completely tarnished by his brother's death#subconsciously he fears his childhood home. he possibly knows something about the disappearance of his brother#who he also talks about more as an extension of himself rather than as a seperate entity#so far no puppets. sad!#back to the framing in the kitchen. i think mike views his relationship to his mother as one which is forced#it lacks closeness but they are forced to be part of each others' lives due to the genetic bond between them#his mother fears mike is back to prod at the old wound which is the murders#it seems she's trying to cope by distancing herself and keeping her mind busy with raising children#it's notable the girl calls her miss rather than mom. more distance despite objective closeness#mike may also become jealous of the girl. he seems like he has a strange relationship with the children in his life
