During the 2008 recession, my aunt lost her job. Her, her partner, and my three cousins moved across the country to stay with us while they got back on their feet. My house turned from a family of four to a family of nine overnight, complete with three dogs and five cats between us.
It took a few years for them to get a place of their own, but after a few rentals and apartments, they now own a split level ranch in a town nearby. I’ve lost track of how many coworkers and friends have stayed with them when they were in a tight spot. A mother and son getting out of an abusive relationship, a divorcee trying to stay local for his kids while they work out a custody agreement, you name it. My aunt and uncle knew first hand what that kindness meant, and always find space for someone who needed it, the way my parents had for them.
That same aunt and uncle visited me in [redacted] city last year. They are prolific drinkers, so we spent most of the day bar hopping. As we wandered the city, any time we passed a homeless person, my uncle would pull out a fresh cigarette and ask them if they had a light. Regardless of if they had a lighter on hand or not, he offered them a few bucks in exchange, which he explained to me after was because he felt it would be easier for them to accept in exchange for a service, no matter how small.
I work for a company that produces a lot of fabric waste. Every few weeks, I bring two big black trash bags full of discarded material over to a woman who works down the hall. She distributes them to local churches, quilting clubs, and teachers who can use them for crafts. She’s currently in the process of working with our building to set up a recycling program for the smaller pieces of fabric that are harder to find use for.
One of my best friends gives monthly donations to four or five local organizations. She’s fortunate enough to have a tech job that gives her a good salary, and she knows that a recurring donation is more valuable to a non-profit because they can rely on that money month after month, and can plan ways to stretch that dollar for maximum impact. One of those organizations is a native plant trust, and once she’s out of her apartment complex and in a home with a yard, she has plans to convert it into a haven of local flora.
My partner works for a company that is working to help regulate crypto and hold the current bad actors in the space accountable for their actions. We unfortunately live in a time where technology develops far too fast for bureaucracy to keep up with, but just because people use a technology for ill gain doesn’t mean the technology itself is bad. The blockchain is something that she finds fascinating and powerful, and she is using her degree and her expertise to turn it into a tool for good.
I knew someone who always had a bag of treats in their purse, on the odd chance they came across a stray cat or dog, they had something to offer them.
I follow artists who post about every local election they know of, because they know their platform gives them more reach than the average person, and that they can leverage that platform to encourage people to vote in elections that get less attention, but in many ways have more impact on the direction our country is going to go.
All of this to say, there’s more than one way to do good in the world. Social media leads us to believe that the loudest, the most vocal, the most prolific poster is the most virtuous, but they are only a piece of the puzzle. (And if virtue for virtues sake is your end goal, you’ve already lost, but that’s a different post). Community is built of people leveraging their privileges to help those without them. We need people doing all of those things and more, because no individual can or should do all of it. You would be stretched too thin, your efforts valiant, but less effective in your ambition.
None of this is to encourage inaction. Identify your unique strengths, skills, and privileges, and put them to use. Determine what causes are important to you, and commit to doing what you can to help them. Collective action is how change is made, but don’t forget that we need diversity in actions taken.

The number of commercial-scale Bitcoin mining operations in the U.S. has increased sharply over the last few years; there are now at least 137. Similar medical complaints have been registered near facilities in Arkansas and North Dakota. And the Bitcoin mining industry is urgently trying to push bills through state legislatures, including in Indiana and Missouri, which would exempt Bitcoin mines from local zoning or noise ordinances. In May, Oklahoma governor Kevin Stitt signed a “Bitcoin Rights” bill to protect miners and prevent any future attempts to ban the industry. Much of the American Bitcoin mining industry can now be found in Texas, home to giant power plants, lax regulation, and crypto-friendly politicians. In October 2021, Governor Greg Abbott hosted the lobbying group Texas Blockchain Council at the governor’s mansion. The group insisted that their industry would help the state’s overtaxed energy grid; that during energy crises, miners would be one of the few energy customers able to shut off upon request, provided that they were paid in exchange. After meeting with the lobbyists, Abbott tweeted that Texas would soon be the “#1 [state] for blockchain & cryptocurrency.” Technically there is federal mandate to regulate noise, which stems from the 1972 Noise Control Act—but it was essentially de-funded during the Reagan administration. This leaves noise regulation up to states, cities, and counties. New York City, for instance, has a noise code which officially caps restaurant music and air conditioning at 42 decibels (as measured within a nearby residence). Texas’s 85 decibels, in contrast, is by far the loudest state limit in the nation, says Les Blomberg, the executive director of the nonprofit Noise Pollution Clearinghouse. “It is a level that protects noise polluters, not the noise polluted,” he says. The residents of Granbury feel they’ve been lied to. In 2023, the site’s previous operators, US Bitcoin Corp, constructed a wall around the mine almost 2,000 feet long and claimed that they had “solved the concern.” But Shirley says that the complaints from the community about the sound actually increased when the wall was nearing completion last fall. Since Marathon bought the facility outright in December, its hash rate, or computational power expended, has doubled. Any statewide legislation is sure to hit significant headwinds, because the very idea of regulation runs contrary to many Texans’ political beliefs. “As constitutional conservatives, they have taken our core values and used that against us,” says Demetra Conrad, a city council member in the nearby town of Glen Rose. In the week before this article’s publication, two more Granbury residents suffered from acute health crises. The first was Tom Weeks. “This whole thing is an eye opener for me into profit over people,” Weeks says in a phone call from the ICU. The second person affected was the five-year-old Indigo Rosenkranz. Her mother, Sarah, was terrified and now feels she has no choice but to get a second mortgage to move away from the mine. “A second one would really be a lot,” she says. “God will provide, though. He always sees us through.”

I did it again
Welcome from FICSIT Inc. to our brand new engineer
We're thrilled you picked us, we're here to bring you a brilliant new career
Yes, it's true that the terms of your servitude are a little bit unclear
But don't fear the years you'll be spending here, you're a lifelong pioneer!
You're entering planetfall to a planet full of resources
Your contract calls that your life revolves around rounding up and exporting
And if you happen upon our previous ones, well, it's your job to report it
Take inventory of the spent debris, but best to leave any corpses
No time for grief, so take relief in this briefing
These core values, FICSIT needs you believing
You'd better learn them if you want to be leaving
But if you miss it, then we'll keep on repeating
Construct!
Rebrand that land before you as a grandiose factory floor
Automate!
Command it to handle it, so you're free to construct more
Explore!
You'll fall to a world of wonders that none have seen before
Exploit!
Convert that fertile earth to a furnace for churning ore
Flora and fauna, forced to the boundaries
Par for the course when your sport's tearing down trees
Pounding them down into powder to power these
Towers you've founded to round our accounts
Seize bountiful mountains of countless amounts
Each ground into compounds bound for the foundries
Sound of it drowns out the howls of the foul beasts
Ousted and out for revenge, so look out
Deep down underground, a fortune awaits
We've just got to burn down what's in the way
How fortunate that you have opted to stay
With your life on the bottom line for our pay
So slave away and save the day
In place of wage, you'll pave the way
Stay in the black with shades of grey
Keep sending stacks, you'll get back someday
We enterprise and synergise
You improvise and synthesise
To bring supplies and tint the skies
With inky spires as chimneys rise
The market cannot be denied
We couldn't stop it if we tried
That natural snapshot that you prize
Is simply profit in disguise
Drop a thousand rods in the pod
Ship them off, don't stop and move on to the Modular Frames
The Rotors and Cables
The table says we are waiting on lots of Crates
And if we haven't got enough on your plate
Well, we haven't got enough of the plates!
And the state of the Caterium isn't great
So fill the elevator by end of the day
Mother Nature is minted, it's evident
If we're her kids, then what is the precedent?
Where there's a will, there's a way to inheritance
Whether we killed her or not is irrelevant
No defense for delay, it's expensive
So pay up, foreclosure's a moment away
Financially, we're fine actually
So contractually say it again!
(i couldn't be bothered to color this next section in)
Construct!
An industrial wonderland with a hundred belts to ride on
Automate!
Set beams to plunder and then find somewhere else to siphon
Explore!
There's a whole ton of funds to be funnelled under that horizon
Exploit!
So tear it asunder with thunderous, sulfurous pyres and pylons
This is a FICSIT reminder!
It's a lizard-doggo-eat-lizard-doggo world out there
But that doesn't mean it won't also try and eat you
So be careful
Those uniforms aren't cheap
You've been hurled without leave to build worlds without leaves
Scorch the earth, burn the trees, crush the birds, squash the bees
Yes, the customer may moan, kicking creatures from their home
But they'll scream and rant and rave if they don't get their mobile phone
You may think that it's a lot, slaying nature so our stocks gain
You may rethink extinction when your neck is on the Blockchain
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small
Will be scanned and logged and processed for the shareholder's bankroll
It's a little bit of sweat, a little bit of toil
And a big blind eye to the wildlife spoiled
If they go the way of the dinosaur
What you crying for? We're just making oil!
So the seas may boil and the skies might burn
But we'll reap the spoils of the prize you've earned
No quarrel, it's morally grey, just quarry away
Morals make for downturn
Mother nature ought to be
Hung, drawn and quarterly
Diced up and torn to pieces, export and reset
Our big spreadsheet says more for me
Unlike a life, a price is dependable
Cutting expenses to keep you expendable
Spreading our message, we made you a prophet
So make us a profit, we'll grant you ascension
All manner of valuables need our attention
The fact that there's animals ain't worth a mention
If there's a creator, I guess in a sense then
That we are a case of divine intervention
Beyond the heavens, there is revenue to glean
So turn that greens to black and we can turn it back to green
Tax law is more lax for planets unseen
And in space, no one can hear the machines
Right, I want ten thousand steel beams at my desk by four
No, not literally, where would I put them?
#wonderlands x showtime#wxs#wxs tsukasa#wxs emu#wxs rui#wxs nene#wxs miku#slightly#a matter of factories#the stupendium#project sekai#pjsk#gonna be honest#this one is a bit more intense than their usual music#but it would sound good in their voices#also sorry if this feels a bit rui heavy at the end#or if it feels unbalanced in any way really#in my defense#i need to sleep

Why Memecoins Keep Thriving Despite Their Minimal Value
In the world of crypto, memecoins stand out as a fascinating and often confusing phenomenon. Despite their minimal basic value and the skepticism they face, these digital tokens continue to emerge and capture the attention of investors. To understand why memecoins persist and thrive, we need to explore several key factors that contribute to their success.
Community and Celebrity Support
Another significant factor is the role of community support. Memecoins like SHIB and PEPE have shown how a dedicated community can drive a token’s success. The enthusiasm and backing from these communities can elevate a memecoin’s value, sometimes overshadowing its lack of practical use. However, this also means that investing in memecoins involves high risk, as not all tokens will gain similar support or achieve notable success.
The rise of celebrity-endorsed memecoins is another trend worth noting. These tokens often benefit from the star power of celebrities, which can generate initial hype and attract investors. Not only professional crypto investors can influence the community’s interest in memecoins; a celebrity from outside the crypto sphere or a typical social event can also significantly boost the attention these tokens receive.
A prime example of this is Elon Musk’s involvement with Dogecoin. In 2021, Musk’s tweets about Dogecoin had a remarkable impact, turning the crypto into one of the most talked-about digital currencies on the market. Originally developed as a joke, Dogecoin saw a surge in popularity due to its meme-inspired branding and the rally fueled by Musk’s social media influence.
This demonstrates how external figures and events can create substantial waves in the memecoin space, far beyond the actions of dedicated crypto traders. While this can lead to short-term gains, it also makes them vulnerable to scams and speculative bubbles. Investors should approach celebrity-backed memecoins with caution and consider more established tokens to reduce risk.
The Speculative Nature and Ease of Creation
New tokens are frequently introduced, each promising unique opportunities. This environment can attract investors seeking high-risk, high-reward prospects. The rapid creation of memecoins reflects a market driven by excitement and anticipation, where the potential for significant gains can overshadow underlying fundamentals.
The ease of creating memecoins also contributes to their proliferation. Unlike more complex blockchain projects that require extensive resources, memecoins can be launched with relatively little effort. This simplicity, combined with the allure of quick financial gains, encourages a steady flow of new tokens into the market. The promise of rapid wealth accumulation appeals to those eager to test their luck in the crypto space.
The Power of Hype and Airdrops
Hype plays a crucial role in the success of memecoins. Tokens like WIF, MOTHER, and DADDY, along with newer entries like BUSAI on the Solana blockchain, demonstrate how public enthusiasm can drive a coin’s value.
BUSAI, in particular, stands out as an example of how memecoins can combine innovative concepts like AI integration with meme culture to capture investor interest. The excitement and speculative nature surrounding these tokens can lead to dramatic price movements, making them an attractive and a good investment opportunity. Success with memecoins largely depends on navigating this hype and identifying promising projects amidst the noise.
Many memecoins offer free tokens, called airdrops, to attract new investors. People are often interested in these events, so this can encourage them to join the memecoin community. Even if a token lacks substantial value, the initial free distribution can generate significant interest and investment. This strategy leverages human psychology, where the promise of free money serves as a powerful motivator.
While memecoins often start as jokes or ironic projects, they can evolve into serious business ventures. Despite their origins, these projects can attract significant investment and create considerable value, highlighting the complex dynamics of the crypto market.

Louis Vuitton’s approach to fine jewelry is anything but ordinary. For Valentine’s Day, the Maison brings together three collections that reimagine its most iconic codes—think diamonds shaped like the Monogram star, a checkerboard reinterpreted in gold, and a fresh take on Color Blossom with an unexpected pop of blue-green. The LV Diamonds Collection Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: The LV Diamonds Collection In the realm of diamonds, Louis Vuitton does things differently. Enter the LV Monogram Star, a custom-cut diamond with 53 precisely angled facets, designed to reflect light in a way that feels sharp, graphic, and unmistakably Vuitton. The cut transforms classic solitaires, platinum bands, and pendant necklaces into modern heirlooms—stripped of excess, made to be worn every day. Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: The LV Diamonds Collection Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: The LV Diamonds Collection For a more playful nod to the Maison’s archives, there are checkerboard-inspired bands, referencing the Damier pattern first introduced in 1888. Here, diamonds and gold stack like pixels, balancing old-world craftsmanship with a contemporary edge. And in true Louis Vuitton fashion, each diamond’s journey—from mine to Maison—is recorded on blockchain, ensuring complete transparency. ADVERTISEMENT Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Speaking of Damier, the pattern has moved beyond trunks and leather goods. Le Damier de Louis Vuitton is a fine jewelry collection that translates the geometric motif into yellow and white gold, accented with precisely placed diamonds. "It’s a diamond collection that’s not just about the stones, but about the pattern they create," says Francesca Amfitheatrof, the Artistic Director of Watches and Jewelry. Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Rings come in multiple widths, meant for stacking or making a statement solo. A reworked tennis bracelet takes on a sleeker, second-skin feel. Sculpted hoop earrings and a pendant necklace round out the lineup, each piece structured yet effortless—true to the spirit of Damier itself. ADVERTISEMENT The Louis Vuitton Color Blossom Collection Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: Color Blossom Collection Since its debut in 2015, Louis Vuitton’s Color Blossom has been a study in vibrant, high-saturation stones. This season, it welcomes something new: Amazonite. A striking blue-green gem, Amazonite is a departure from the collection’s usual lineup of carnelian, malachite, and mother-of-pearl. The stone, named after the Amazon River, brings a fresh translucency to Vuitton’s jewelry universe. Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: Color Blossom Collection Louis Vuitton’s Jewelry Selection: Color Blossom Collection Set in yellow gold, Amazonite takes center stage in a pendant necklace, a delicate bracelet, and an elegant sautoir. The collection plays with proportion, alternating between diamond-pavé Monogram flowers and Amazonite’s natural depth of color. Louis Vuitton’s Valentine’s Day selection is for those who appreciate the interplay of bold design and refined craftsmanship. Whether it’s a diamond with a Monogram pedigree, a checkerboard pattern made for stacking, or a gemstone that feels like a breath of fresh air, these pieces are a reminder that fine jewelry—like love itself—should never be predictable. 🧬 What’s Your DNA Ancestry? How Bioinformatics Can Find Out!
🔍 Discover the Science Behind Your Genetic Ancestry
Have you ever wondered where your ancestors came from? Thanks to DNA ancestry testing and bioinformatics, we can now decode our genetic history with incredible accuracy. By analyzing our DNA, scientists can uncover our ethnic origins, trace migration patterns, and connect us with long-lost relatives.
But how does bioinformatics play a crucial role in this process? Let’s dive into the science of DNA sequencing, machine learning, and big data in genetics!
🧪 How DNA Ancestry Testing Works
DNA ancestry testing analyzes genetic markers (SNPs) in your genome to determine your heritage and ancestral connections. The process involves:
1️⃣ Autosomal DNA (atDNA) – Your Recent Ancestry
✅ Inherited from both parents, covering the past 5-7 generations. ✅ Used for ethnicity estimates and connecting with genetic relatives in databases.
2️⃣ Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) – Maternal Lineage
✅ Passed down exclusively from the mother, unchanged for thousands of years. ✅ Helps trace ancient maternal ancestry and migration routes.
3️⃣ Y-Chromosome DNA (Y-DNA) – Paternal Lineage (For Males Only)
✅ Passed only from father to son, revealing direct paternal lineage. ✅ Helps identify historical migrations and haplogroups.
These DNA components hold unique ancestral clues, but their analysis requires powerful computational tools—this is where bioinformatics plays a key role.
💻 How Bioinformatics Decodes Your DNA
Bioinformatics integrates AI, machine learning, and big data analytics to analyze massive amounts of genetic data. It helps in:
✅ Genome Sequencing & Data Processing – Extracting and reading your DNA from saliva or blood samples. ✅ Genetic Marker Identification – Recognizing SNPs and mutations that define ancestry. ✅ Comparing DNA to Global Databases – Matching your genetic markers with millions of others to estimate ancestry. ✅ AI-Powered Predictions – Using machine learning to refine ancestry results and predict migration patterns.
Without bioinformatics, analyzing millions of DNA markers would take years—now, it takes just weeks! 🚀
🌍 What Can DNA Ancestry Testing Reveal About You?
DNA testing goes beyond ethnicity percentages—it offers deep insights into your genetic past:
🔹 1. Ethnicity Breakdown
🧬 Find out what percentage of your DNA comes from different regions. Example: "Your DNA is 35% European, 30% Asian, 20% African, 15% Native American."
🔹 2. Migration Patterns of Your Ancestors
🗺️ Learn how your ancestors migrated across continents over thousands of years.
🔹 3. Genetic Relatives & Family Connections
👨👩👦 Find distant relatives and connect with genetic matches in ancestry databases.
🔹 4. Neanderthal DNA Percentage
🦴 Some tests reveal how much of your DNA comes from Neanderthals (~1-4% in most humans).
🔹 5. Genetic Traits & Health Insights
🧑⚕️ Some DNA tests provide genetic health reports, predicting disease risks and inherited conditions.
With advancements in bioinformatics, DNA testing is becoming even more precise!
🚀 The Future of DNA Ancestry & AI in Genetics
The next frontier of genetics and bioinformatics includes:
🔍 Hyper-Accurate Ancestry Mapping – AI will pinpoint specific towns where your ancestors lived. Ancient DNA Reconstruction – Scientists will map historical genomes to track human evolution. 💊 Personalized Medicine Based on DNA – Genetic data will be used to predict disease risks and recommend treatments. 🔗 Blockchain for Genetic Data Security – Ensuring privacy and secure DNA data storage.
As AI, genetics, and bioinformatics evolve, our understanding of human history will reach new levels!

A little over 11 years and three months ago, Ross Ulbricht was arrested in the science fiction section of a public library in San Francisco, caught with his laptop still logged in to the Silk Road, the world’s first dark-web drug market that he created and ran under the pseudonym the Dread Pirate Roberts.
Now, after being sentenced to life in prison and spending more than a decade behind bars, Ulbricht will walk free, thanks to Donald Trump—and to the president’s ever-closer ties to the American cryptocurrency world.
“I just called the mother of Ross William Ulbright to let her know that in honor of her and the Libertarian Movement, which supported me so strongly, it was my pleasure to have just signed a full and unconditional pardon of her son, Ross,” president Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday evening, misspelling Ulbricht's last name. “The scum that worked to convict him were some of the same lunatics who were involved in the modern day weaponization of government against me. He was given two life sentences, plus 40 years. Ridiculous!”
For close to two and a half years after Ulbricht created the Silk Road in 2011, the dark-web site facilitated the sale of vast amounts of narcotics, as well as counterfeit documents, money laundering services and, at times, guns, for hundreds of millions of dollars in bitcoin payments. After the FBI located the Silk Road’s server in Iceland in 2013 and arrested then 29-year-old Ulbricht in San Francisco, he was convicted on seven charges relating to the distribution of narcotics, money laundering, and computer hacking, as well as a “continuing criminal enterprise” statute—sometimes known as the “kingpin statute”—usually reserved for mob bosses and cartel leaders. In 2015, he was sentenced to life in prison, a punishment beyond even the 20-plus years that prosecutors in the case requested.
Since then, a Free Ross movement has steadily pressed for Ulbricht’s release, first in a failed appeal, then in petitions for clemency. Many of Ulbricht’s supporters have long argued that the Silk Road was a principled libertarian experiment in free trade, one in which Ulbricht allowed only “victimless crime”—despite prosecutors arguing during his trial that at least six people died of opioid overdoses from drugs linked to the Silk Road. They point out that Ulbricht never actually sold or possessed drugs himself, and rather ran a website that facilitated their sale. And they argue that by moving the sale of narcotics online, he reduced violence in the drug trade and committed no violence himself.
That argument has been complicated, however, by allegations that Ulbricht tried to have six people killed who presented a threat to him or the Silk Road. Ultimately all six alleged murders-for-hire were fake—one was staged by undercover DEA agents and five more were a scam. Ulbricht was charged with only one of those alleged paid killings in a separate prosecution in Maryland, which was then dropped after he received a life sentence in his New York trial. But evidence presented at Ulbricht’s trial showed him allegedly arranging those killings and even pinpointed transactions on Bitcoin’s blockchain that showed a payment for them from Ulbricht’s laptop to the would-be killer.
Those allegations of murders-for-hire, in fact, dissuaded the first Trump administration from granting clemency to Ulbricht. The White House in 2020 considered freeing Ulbricht but ultimately rejected the idea because of the alleged role of violence in the case, according to one former government official involved in the process who spoke to WIRED on condition of anonymity.
Since then, however, the Trump administration has shifted its stance on Ulbricht’s case—in part, perhaps, due to its embrace of the libertarian cryptocurrency community, for whom Ulbricht has become a martyr and cause célèbre. At the Libertarian National Convention in Washington, DC, last May, then presidential candidate Trump promised to commute Ulbricht’s sentence “on day one” if reelected. (Ultimately, day one passed with no clemency for Ulbricht, even as Trump pardoned more than a thousand participants in the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol, though Trump ally Elon Musk promised in a post to X on Monday evening that “Ross will be freed too.”)
Just what role Ulbricht will play in the free world is far from clear. Even in his statement to the judge at his sentencing hearing in 2015, Ulbricht never fully acknowledged the harm inflicted by the Silk Road’s drug sales. And according to Jared Der-Yeghiayan, a former Homeland Security Investigations agent who infiltrated the Silk Road during the investigation, Ulbricht still shows little remorse for his actions in his public posts to X.
“The idea of him being released doesn’t bother me in the least,” says Der-Yeghiayan, who now works as the head of strategic intelligence at cryptocurrency tracing firm Chainalysis. “I do get bothered if there’s now a perception that he did nothing wrong; that doesn’t acknowledge the facts of the case.”
Among some advocates of criminal justice reform, however, Ulbricht has become an exemplar of oversentencing, particularly given that he was technically charged with nonviolent crimes. “Ross has served more than enough time. He has been a model prisoner. He’s a first-time, nonviolent offender. He poses zero safety risk to the community,” Alice Johnson, CEO of the justice reform foundation Taking Action for Good, told WIRED in November. Johnson spent two decades in prison herself for attempted possession with intent to distribute before Trump commuted her life sentence in 2018 and pardoned her in 2020. “I believe that Ross’ case is going to pave the way for many others who have been unjustly given these draconian sentences to come home.”
On Tuesday night, Ulbricht's supporters celebrated his freedom and voiced their gratitude to Trump for his clemency. “Words cannot express how grateful we are,” reads a tweet from @Free_Ross, an X account devoted to the more than decade-long effort on Ulbricht's behalf. “President Trump is a man of his word and he just saved Ross's life. ROSS IS A FREE MAN!!!!!"

Supply chains today are complicated and continually changing with each technological advancement. Logistics is usually one of the most inefficient links in the process because of the countless variables that can affect transit time, prices and availability. However, there is a possibility that blockchain technology can reshape the logistics industry. The blockchain is currently used primarily to verify transactions. However, within digital currencies, it’s possible to digitize, code and insert practically any document into the blockchain. Doing so creates an indelible record, the authenticity of which can be verified by everyone involved. Who’s Already Using Blockchain Technology in Their Supply Chains? Some larger corporations have already implemented blockchain technology into their supply chains for practical use. Whether a business is selling food or offering free website themes, it’s important to have accurate records to trace each product back to its source. According to Forbes, Walmart uses blockchain to keep track of the pork it sources from China. The blockchain records where each piece of meat comes from, where it is processed, where it’s stored and its expiration date. BHP Billiton, the world’s largest mining firm, announced it will use blockchain to better track and record data throughout the mining process with its vendors. Not only will it increase efficiency internally, but it’ll allow the company to have more effective communication with its partners. What’s Wrong With Logistics Today? There are a lot of issues within the logistics portion of a company’s supply chain that can result in loss of time, money and possibly even customers. Mother nature sometimes plays a part in late deliveries or increased transit time, but even in perfect conditions, product transportation is an imperfect science. A new mandate enforcing electronic log devices to track a driver’s hours on the road have complicated things even more. Transit times have increased on longer shipments because of the mandate, causing companies to shake up their logistics strategy. The pushback on this mandate has even caused some trucking companies to close their doors, making availability tighter, which has driven transportation prices higher than they’ve been in recent memory. If a company is using a third-party logistics company to handle their transportation, then the prices could be even higher. These brokerages are feeling the squeeze of equipment availability and they are tacking on higher margins to compensate for their extra work. So on top of higher truck rates, the brokerage fees are likely higher as well. How Blockchain Can Help The Logistics Industry Blockchain technology is generally used in cryptocurrencies because of the transparency it provides. When applying this to the logistics industry, it will improve accountability, effective tracking and transparency. According to CoinTelegraph, shipping anything is a sequence of custody handovers. Having an indisputable record of the chain of custody makes it impossible to lose track of who is responsible for a product during each handover. Blockchain technology combines chain of custody control with the transparency of absolute record-keeping. This ecosystem deters malicious actors, as they will eventually become known due to system transparency. The technology also weeds out unethical employees who try to change past events to gain some sort of advantage or erase mistakes. According to Eye For Transport, an employee that goes into the system to change past events will alter the coding of the event. However, the altered coding is obvious so it would be impossible to disguise change. This will allow companies to recognize fraud and determine who initiated the change almost immediately. Logistics is a growing industry that’s requiring more resources within a company’s supply chain. As blockchain technology continues to grow, companies who can implement blockchain into their logistics strategy can immediately see improvements in their tracking, transparency, and security.

Cardi B's X Account Promotes WAP Token, PeckShield Raises Alarm
Cardi B’s X account promoted the WAP memecoin, raising concerns about a possible hack.
Blockchain firm PeckShield warned users to avoid engaging with links shared in the post.
Despite concerns, the WAP token’s promo stayed on Cardi B’s account for over five hours.
The official X account of the American rapper, Cardi B, supported the memecoin called WAP, which stirred up controversy concerning the token's authenticity. The recent post has raised questions about whether the rapper’s account was hacked or the promotion is real. Blockchain security firm PeckShield quickly alerted the crypto community, warning that the rapper’s account might have been compromised.
Platform Raises Alarm
In an X post on Tuesday, PeckShield noted that Cardi B's X account was compromised and warned users against engaging with any links or addresses shared in the post. The WAP token, likely named after Cardi B's hit song, launched on Monday with its own website and X handle. A video was also posted, seemingly showing the rapper endorsing the token.
The promotion came soon after the Australian rapper Iggy Azalea launched her token MOTHER and openly accused WAP of being a scam. Although such posts are usually quickly deleted from the celebrities’ accounts, the WAP token promotion stayed on Cardi B’s page for over five hours, which caused more concerns.
Celebrity Token Doubts
Dexscreener indicates that the WAP token currently has a market capitalization of $21.6 million. Although celebrities endorsed memecoins in 2024, several of these projects have yet to demonstrate significant progress. This raises doubts regarding the motives and sustainability of such coins in the crypto market.
Related:
Similarly, memecoin promoter Sahil Arora was barred from X in June following allegations by Caitlyn Jenner of pump and dump schemes of her meme token. These controversies have thus contributed to creating more skepticism about celebrity-backed cryptocurrencies.
Fans and the crypto community should use the token cautiously as more information unfolds. Cardi B’s X account continues to be checked as people wait to know whether the posts were a hack or a form of advertisement. However, doubts about the token remain valid to this day.
