Doomed timeline au children? Omg tell me more

They are basically fire emblem awakening style OCs in that they would come from a distant, very far removed timeline where an 8th umbral calamity did occur. Arsay and Y'shtola die in that timeline to the event. In order to protect their children and the few others that survived, G'raha takes them all into the crystal tower to live safely. He figures out how to pull off the dimension and time hoping spell himself but his life would again be the price. He removes the stasis spell from the tower and allows his children to grow; raising them to be strong and capable warriors like their mother, before finally sending them off to try and re-write their future.

Their "if this was the real msq" story would end with them saving the day and going back to their real timeline, figuring out how to save the world where they came from a la future trunks dbz.

I still dont think I consider them canon to mainline Arsay story but if they were her canon retainers it would be a situation where they showed up after endwalker and realized that whatever timeline they are in its way too different than the one they were meant to go to. But since they are stuck they might as well try to keep tabs on their mom so they get themselves hired as retainers. It's very important that in this context they never reveal who they are, least they inadvertently cause some weird butterfly effect which triggers the calamity they were hoping to avoid.

anyway I went and borrowed Mira and Motek Nun from @wildstar25 so they could go off on adventure with Matoya Lurvis because they deserve some happy times dammit!

also it's amusing to me how they all have names starting with M. And also how Mira is basically half-sister to both Matoya and Motek, despite Matoya and Motek themselves being completely unrelated to each other.

7:40h ging der Wecker, was mir aber zu früh war, so saß ich nicht schon um 8 wieder am Zeichentisch. Komplett zugezogen und schmutzig der Himmel.

Dienstagvormittag hatte ich einen kurzen Text von Otto auf der Mailbox des grauenhaft schlimmen Handys, “bin auf dem Weg ins Krankenhaus”. Abends versuchte ich es, aber natürlich ging niemand bei ihm ran. Gestern Abend auch noch nicht. Also drei Tage KH = was ernstes? Da Otto kein Handy hat und ich nicht weiß, in welchem KH er sein könnte, müssen hier alte Kulturtechniken der Ausfindigmachung angewendet werden.

Ernüchternder Brief aus Berlin vom Verlag des nun nicht kommenden Bonn-Buchs. Obwohl ich mir sowas in der Art gedacht hatte, haut mich der Brief erst mal komplett raus für den Tag. Und den nächsten. Warum ist das so? Ich habe keine Ahnung. Ist ja alles erklärbar. Besser scheitern 3000.

Wait is Motek a name in xiv? Because Motek is (modern) Hebrew for "Cutie" (masculine)

Motek is the name of Arsay's (my WoL) doomed future AU kid (think like fire emblem awakening situation)

and yes, the meaning was very intentional! I mean look at how cute he is!!

Had the passing thought that retainer!Motek and Mira could never let themselves be seen by Y'shtola or G'raha cause those two would be to clock that their aether is as dense as Arsay's (& G'raha's) and Motek's single allagan eye respectively

They managed to dissuade Arsay from thinking they were anything other than normal adventurers simply because she chooses to trust those who pass her vibe check even if they are obviously not telling her something. But they could not hide the fact that they are anything but normal from their other parents. Lets just hope Arsay never checks on her retainers when those two are around.

having stray thoughts about the doomed timeline children universe hoping au.

Thoughts about Arsay having a bit of an outburst in private after the initial meeting. I legitimately think she'd be so so so upset that there was a version of her that was stupid enough to repeat the exact same mistake her parents made.

Thoughts about G'raha and Motek bonding. G'raha recognizing that the alt verse version of him passed down the allagan eye to his son and considering the implication of that. whether it would do the world any good for the royal blood to remain after his life is over.

Thoughts about Motek and Mira hanging out with the twins. even though they are technically younger, alphinaud and alisaie are still called uncle and aunt by Motek. Alisaie and Mira would do insane red magic together tbh.

Thoughs about Yshtola and Mira spending time together not really saying anything to each other. just hanging out in the same room reading books. When Y'shtola makes herself tea, she brings a cup over for Mira as well.

Their first support would not go well!! (extra stuff under the cut :3c)

Lore time : Arsay has some very strong feelings about parents also being adventurers. A lot of it of course stemming from her own experience of being left behind by her own parents. She does not believe she could in all good conscious raise a child on the road with her, nor would she leave a kid with Emrara as her parents did with her. She's bound by duty to be the warrior of light until her final breath, so she couldn't very well retire either - she wouldn't want to even if given the choice. Arsay would instantly be filled with such resentment for whatever version of herself chose to have kids and left them parentless, and absolutely double down on her "I'm never having kids" choice. I don't think she could ever view the time line travelers as /her/ kids... but maybe after enough time she could at least be friends with them.

Okay now for character design choices cause I thought a lot about them actually:

Neither of the kids would have keeper or seeker names. Arsay never learned the keeper traditions, and they are too far removed from the seeker tribes to grant them a clan notation.

Surprisingly, he Inherited the Allagan eye from his father - perhaps due to G'raha's Allagan blood being more potent now; however, his is on his left eye (G'raha's was initially on his right). His other eye is Arsay's red.

Inherited the signature Nun family red highlights

Arsay carries red hair genes from her mothers side, so Motek had that 50% chance of red (assuming red is a recessive trait)

Gave himself the white tattoos to remind him of his mother

He learned swordsman ship from his father but choses to forgo a shield in combat - he claims it's too heavy. Mechanically he'd have a mix between paladin and samurai skills

He's a sweet boy, who just wants to help!!

Assuming ff14 has some magical way for same sex couples to have biological children - Y'shtola carried Mira at the same time as Arsay with Motek, making the two half twins!

Inherited most her looks from shtola, however: the red highlights, dark colouration on the nose, stripe pattern, and mouth are from Arsay. Her skin tone is also lighter than Shtola's

She is highly skilled in magic

As a child she really looked up to Alisaie, she decided to teach herself red magic in her fallen aunt's honor.

She is very cold, self-serious, and tends to keep to herself.

They would never EVER have kids... but sometimes you get bored and make fire emblem awakening second gen units for your wolship

MiqoMarch Day 20 - Town

Once the centre of a great, academic city, the recently resettled town of Idyllshire is always bustling with life. The chattering of fellow adventurers, the whistling of steam from the goblins' workshop, the carefree laughter of children who know they have a warm bed and meal waiting for them... it never fails to bring a smile to Arsay's face.

I'm also amused by the idea of Matoya likely being the eldest, while also being quite notably the shortest.

tbh ever since I made this post I cant stop thinking about Arsay sending for Mira and Motek so they can venture around Tural. Shtola seeing them from across the way in the markets and she tells Raha immediately that their aether is denser than his and Arsay's. So they find some excuse to go off on their own so that they can catch Motek and Mira before they can leave Tuliyollal and interrogate them.

The kids have to spill the beans. That they were sent from a doomed timeline where an 8th calamity hit the star. That in that timeline Arsay and Yshtola died, leaving G'raha to raise them both. That they lived their whole life in Syrcus tower, and that their father had to use its power to send them back in time, and his life was given in exchange. Or At least, they thought he was sending them back in time, that's what he told them he was doing. Turns out he instead sent them to a completely different time line where everything was fine - only, they were never born. Not when they should have been, at least.

They would ask Shtola and Raha to promise not to tell Arsay and tbh I think both of them would really have to think about it. Because they also know by now how Arsay feels about having kids and theres a worry to how she'd react to all this kind of information.
