Aftg headcanon: Renee is the first person to tell Neil she thinks he might be demisexual.

My initial thought was Allison or Andrew or maybe Nicky (Allison bc she’s Neil’s best girl friend so they talk about him and Andrew on occasion, Andrew bc he’s got a decent amount of knowledge on lgbt identities, and Nicky for similar reasons) but then I had a brain blast moment. No, of COURSE it’s Renee!

Maybe Neil mentioned in passing that he’s never been interested in anyone before Andrew and that pings in her brain. Or maybe Andrew tells her about it bc he feels safe telling her and knows it won’t get out to the other foxes.

In my head Renee is actually the fox who knows the most about lgbt identities (Andrew is close behind her) so she’s done a little bit of reading on asexuality. So when she hears about Neil’s thoughts towards his and Andrew’s relationship, she does some more in depth research and comes back with demisexual.

Maybe Neil doesn’t care for the label (nothing against it, I just don’t know if he would actually care, or see it as a convenience to stop people from generalizing that he’s just gay or a “late bloomer” (side note: I feel like Nicky has called him that at least once)) Or maybe he feels validated in his feelings bc he’s not the only one who feels this way.
