Rq while I'm still not feeling guilty abt talking abt my OCs: love how I'm personally always preaching 'uhm actually in most settings necromancy and shadow magic isn't inherently evil' but in the same breath one of the reasons my durge snaps is cuz of said shadow magic (well sorcery and a curse technically speaking) and absolutely using necromancy to be an evil asshole.
But my case stands, the shadow weave ain't evil per se. Just the idiot that's tapping into it. And like, how many corpses have given you useful tips hm? Speaking with the dead is minor necromancy but it's helpful and hurting no-one. Except feelings maybe if the deceased is taken over by a random God but that's something different. That falls under divine intervention rather than necromancy.
And in my actual defence, Nil is a sweetheart and a shadow sorcerer. At least she won't kill you for shits and giggles or cuz daddy dearest got mad (I mean technically he did go mad but he can't control her like Bhaal can control him so.... It's confusing, but she's a dear.)
#most shadow mages do actually go mad and on rampages if they tap into the shadow weave though#reason being if they attempt to use that specifc weave a shadow self is created#and if the wizard using the shadow weave isnt mentally steadfast and has a strong personality#well#their new evil alter will just hijack them#sorcerers are slightly different#most r born with it so they have inherent control over the shadow weave#but then again shadow sorcs are also the only type of sorcerer that can be artificially created#and since that creation involves hanging in the shadow fell and not immediately getting killed by malignant necrotic energies#theres still a lot of shit that can go sideways#hence why my guy got fucked up by it but Nil is fine#one was created and the other one was born w it#in case it wasnt obvious im a nerd for the shadowfell#and all its mechanics and citizens#anyway gotta use this slim window and work on his bhaalist fit
