Considering your moss poaching post, do you have any advice on how to source ethical moss? Especially large quantities like for a moss garden? I've always wanted one instead of a lawn but I don't want to wreck an ecosystem for it.
I do!! Also, sorry for the delay on this, I'm moving abroad and the preparations have made the past couple of weeks kind of crazy and I wanted to make sure to give a proper (and hopefully helpful!) answer. It is absolutely possible to get yourself some ethically-sourced live moss (even in larger quantities)! Places that cultivate moss are usually smaller-scale since the process can be a bit tricky, so it might take a bit of coordination for a larger amount.
In terms of live moss, there are dedicated moss nurseries that grow, harvest, and then sell different varieties. Their method is similar to that of mushroom farms, involving logs placed in a damp area in or near wooded land. Moss Acres cultivates their moss this way in a nursery that spans many acres. They also work with a sister company that makes living, ethically-cultivated and harvested moss walls.
Another really great option is Mountain Moss. They mainly rescue moss from land that is slated for development, saving it from being thrown out to make way for buildings. They are also certified to collect native mosses that would otherwise be destroyed and have all the proper permits to distribute them (both things to check on when picking a moss supplier). A lot of their moss ends up going to native restoration projects, which is amazing as well. They do a lot of public outreach too through lectures and workshops on moss gardening, moss terrariums, etc.
Also check with local plant nurseries near you, as lots of them cultivate moss (there's one near me that has a dedicated moss patch).
Main things to keep in mind when choosing a moss supplier:
· Do they cultivate the moss themselves in a nursery?
· If not, is it sourced from private land where it would otherwise be destroyed? Do they have a harvesting permit and an agreement with the landowner?
· Is the moss native to where you want to plant it?
· How do they harvest the moss? (even nursery moss needs to be gathered in smaller quantities from various parts of the nursery to fulfill a larger order)
· Is the type of moss endangered?
· Are they certified to distribute live moss?
Just as a side-note, for anyone who gardens with peat/sphagnum moss, a good sustainable alternative is coco coir! Also, if that doesn't suit your needs and you definitely need a moss-based growing mix, Sun Gro harvests ethically and sustainably, as does Better-Gro.
Hope this helps a bit, happy mossing! If anyone sees this and has other suggestions on where to look for ethical moss, please feel free to add on :)

leather -- ao3
for @zelinktines23 -- prompt leather
She went to bed that night cold. Silk was always chilly.
She was born in the lap of luxury. From birth, Zelda knew glittering gems, poofy, expensive dresses, the finest foods and the softest fabrics. She spent her days with the most exclusive tutors and among the perfectly manicured flowers of the courtyards. In the morning, she woke up long after the sun, and then her maids would gently, relaxingly prepare her for the day. In the afternoons, she’d have a large lunch, attend lessons, and read her books in the grand library. By the evening, after feasting on whatever gourmet cuisine was served that night, she was in a silk nightgown, crawling under her silk covers and resting atop her silk pillow. Princess Zelda had not known hardship until she met him.
She was eight when she met Link, son of the leather craftsman who was one of the sole suppliers of leather goods to the Royal Army. Her father, the King, was close friends with him, and Zelda always saw him requesting a new bag or riding gear for her mother or herself.
She liked Link. When he would visit on delivery days, she’d invite him to play in the garden. When he was over, they played like she never had before. When she played in the courtyards with the children of her mother’s friends, they had teatime or played with dolls or talked about boys and their cooties. When Link was over, it got dirty.
He launched balls made of various substances–mud, moss, clumpy dirt, sometimes snow–at her, usually dirtying her dress but oh how she did not care, because for once she really felt like they were playing, not just making polite conversation over hand-me-down, antique dolls because they had to. She launched mud balls and snowballs and dirt balls right back at him.
By the end of it, she would get a scolding from her mother, but she didn’t really mind; the reprimands were worth it.
Which is why that night she had invited him to sit on her bed next to her.
After he left, laying in her smooth, cool sheets, she wished she could smell leather again. That earthy, slightly sweet scent that seemed to follow her knight everywhere he went. Sure, some of that aroma lingered on the silk of her bed, but it was different. It was so much more pleasant when he was really there and she could feel his skin under her fingertips and his hand in her hair…
Maybe she had gone too far. Maybe she had pushed him by begging him to place his hand on her barren shoulder (scandalous!) or to look her in the eyes. For a pair as inseparable as they were, both by duty and feelings, they barely even made eye contact.
Zelda hated the protocol, and she hated how obedient Link was. Just once, she wanted to unravel him. Just once, she wanted him to put his hand on her body because he chose to. Just once.
She went to bed that night cold. Silk was always chilly.
And that next morning she rose at her usual time and did her usual things with her usual personal knight, who acted as he usually did: silent and unfazed, like nothing happened. It was a usual day.
Even though Link was acting like normal, she wanted to know if he was thinking like normal, too. She certainly wasn’t. Anytime she addressed him, her eyes wandered down to his lips. He kept his trained on whatever was behind her, be it a wall or a window. Sometimes, he knelt on the floor. Was it because he didn’t want to talk to her? Did he hate her now? He was supposed to kneel when he was addressed by anybody of royal stature, but they had spent so many years together that this was… unusual.
“What are you doing?” she asked him at one point, her tone biting and sharp. He winced.
Kneeling, princess, as I am meant to,” he mumbled. Link couldn’t see it, facing his leather boots on the ground, but tears pricked the eyes of the princess he was sworn to protect.
“Fine,” she hissed, turning and walking away. Obediently, he stood and followed.
They turned a corner where a maid scuttled up to them and told the princess that a new leather delivery was here, and that her father requested she receive it since he was unavailable. Of course, Zelda obliged, and the princess and her knight made their way to the courtyard which was riddled with trainees, some in pairs and others sparring with dummies. At the entrance was Link’s father with a wagon of boxes.
Zelda knew how the deliveries worked. She often accompanied her father to receive them. She also knew that most of these boxes weren’t for the army, but for the nobility who visited the castle often enough that they simply had their commissions delivered there instead. Bags, clothes, sometimes furniture.
“Hello, your highness,” Link’s father greeted warmly. “And my son.” To his son, he nodded, and wrapped him in a hug. “It’s a big delivery this week.”
He began unloading the boxes while Zelda signed off on some paperwork. Link and some other soldiers nearby helped haul the boxes off the wagon and to the side. By the end, there was only one small box left, which Link’s father picked up and handed to Zelda.
“For you, princess,” he said.
“Oh, but I didn’t–”
“No, no, I’m sure you did.”
Link’s father took his wagon and rushed away, leaving a befuddled princess with a tiny box. When she glanced at Link with a brow arched in confusion, he only shrugged and looked past her.
She continued with more of her usual duties and then at nighttime, as usual, her personal knight hung about her room while she brushed her hair. Except they were both silent and it almost turned her red–not with embarrassment.
“Link,” she said, his name slicing the still air, “I’m sorry.”
Her anger was at herself.
“What?”
“We can’t act like nothing happened,” she sighed, setting the brush down. “I’m sorry. Last night– I– I shouldn’t have done that. It was a mistake.”
Link didn’t say anything, only hung his head and twiddled with his thumbs–so unusual of him–and kept quiet.
“I feel bad. I know you don’t feel that way, and it was a mistake for me to… to even think of that.”
“Zelda,” he mumbled, “you never opened the box my father gave you.”
“Huh?”
“Just open it.”
It sat on her nightstand, the cords holding it shut still intact. She’d wondered about its contents all day but never had a moment to open it. Tentatively, Zelda reached over and grasped it, pulled it back to her, and carefully unwound the cords. She pried it open and fished around inside, moving aside the tissue stuffed in to ensure whatever was inside didn’t break.
It was a jewelry box. A dark, simple jewelry box made of leather.
“This must be someone else’s order,” she mused, examining the box.
“Open it.”
Zelda rolled her eyes at him with a smile, muttering something about boxes in boxes, and unlatched it.
Inside was a silver necklace with a small, delicate diamond pendant, nestled within the velvet folds of the box. Gently, Zelda lifted it out of the box, hanging it off her fingers so the pendant spun ever so slowly, just enough for her to admire the details.
“I never ordered this,” she said again. “And your father doesn’t make necklaces, so–”
His lips were on hers.
Wait, what?
When did he even approach? He’d been on the other side of the room leaning against a dresser, watching from afar as she opened the leather jewelry box and took out the diamond necklace. He hadn’t moved an inch, and she knew that because she had watched him out of the corner of her eye the whole time. So when did he get here?
It wasn’t like it mattered anyway, she thought, melting into him. He smelled of leather, sweet and earthy, and his textured skin against hers felt right, warm, like everything she had ever dreamed of.
When he pulled away, she found herself moving toward him, lonely at the loss. They gazed at each other for a quiet, soft moment.
“Was that a bad idea?” he asked, all sense of decorum and–thank the Goddesses, Zelda thought–protocol flying out the window.
“No,” she hummed, reaching her hands up into his hair to pull him in for another kiss as his hands, soft as leather, found their home on her silken skin.

7 Common Issues Found During A Roof Inspection
Regular home maintenance by roofing suppliers Sydney is essential to ensure the longevity and safety of a property. One critical aspect often overlooked is the regular inspection of the overhead cover of your home. The importance of these inspections cannot be overstated, as they help identify potential issues before they escalate into costly repairs or severe structural damage. Conducting thorough checks can prevent minor issues from turning into major headaches, safeguarding both your investment and your peace of mind.
Homeowners must understand that the condition of the uppermost part of their house plays a pivotal role in protecting the entire structure. A well-maintained upper covering not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of your home but also ensures that it remains weatherproof and structurally sound.
Find out what problems often manifest when a roofing inspection is performed.
Missing or Broken Shingles
One of the most common problems discovered during an inspection is missing or broken shingles. Shingles can be damaged or dislodged due to severe weather conditions, such as heavy rain, strong winds, or hail. Missing shingles can expose the underlying layers to the elements, leading to water infiltration and subsequent damage. It's crucial to replace any missing or damaged shingles promptly to maintain the integrity of the protective barrier.
Water Stains and Leaks
Water stains on ceilings or walls inside the home often indicate a problem with the overhead covering. Leaks can occur for various reasons, including damaged shingles, cracked flashing, or clogged gutters. Even a minor leak can cause significant damage over time, leading to mould growth, wood rot, and weakened structural elements. Identifying and repairing leaks early can prevent extensive damage and costly repairs.
Sagging Sections
Sagging sections can indicate severe structural issues. This problem often arises from prolonged exposure to moisture, which can weaken the supporting framework. It might also result from the accumulation of heavy debris, such as leaves and snow. Addressing sagging areas is critical to prevent collapse and ensure the safety of the occupants. Professional evaluation and reinforcement may be necessary to rectify this issue.
Granule Loss
Shingles are typically coated with granules that protect them from UV rays and add an extra layer of durability. Over time, these granules can wear off due to age or weathering. Significant granule loss can reduce the effectiveness of shingles, making them more susceptible to damage. During an inspection, look for granules in gutters or downspouts, as their presence can indicate excessive granule loss and the need for replacement.
Flashing Damage
Flashing is used to seal joints and prevent water from entering at critical points, such as around chimneys, vents, and skylights. Damaged or improperly installed flashing can lead to leaks and water damage. Inspecting the flashing for cracks, rust, or loose sections is essential for maintaining a watertight barrier. Prompt repair or replacement of damaged flashing can prevent water intrusion and preserve the structure's integrity.
Clogged Gutters and Downspouts
Gutters and downspouts play a crucial role in directing water away from the structure. When they become clogged with leaves, twigs, and other debris, water can overflow and damage the exterior and foundation. Regularly cleaning and inspecting gutters and downspouts ensure they function correctly and protect the property from water damage. Installing gutter guards can also help minimise debris buildup and reduce maintenance needs.
Moss and Algae Growth
Moss and algae can grow on surfaces in damp and shaded areas, leading to several problems. These organisms can trap moisture against the surface, accelerating deterioration and increasing the risk of leaks. Additionally, moss can lift shingles, creating gaps that allow water to penetrate. Regular cleaning and the application of anti-moss treatments can prevent the growth of these damaging organisms.
Taking the time to conduct regular inspections and address any issues promptly can save homeowners from the stress and expense of major repairs. By focusing on the common issues highlighted above, you can ensure that your home remains in excellent condition, providing a secure and comfortable living environment for years to come. Don't wait for problems to arise – invest in regular inspections and proactive maintenance to keep your home in top shape.

Chasing Shadows - Part 3
Evangeline has protected Lona ever since their parents passed away. When Lona is kidnapped by a shadow in the dead of night, Evangeline sets off to find her, despite knowing her journey will take her past the Border, where no human has walked in centuries. Finding aid in unlikely places, she and her companions must unravel the truth of Artera's long-forgotten past and how it connects to Lona's kidnapping.
Part One | Part Two | Part Three | Part Four
I do not consent for my work to be copied, reposted or plagiarised. All parts of the work belong to me, the author.
It was hard for Evangeline to resist the urge to nap. The steady bump of the cart beneath her, the birds overhead and the sweet humming of the old merchant driving the cart. The exhaustion didn’t help. After what happened that morning Evangeline wasted no time packing her things, boarding up her home and forge and heading off after the thing that stole Lona.
There were stories, old tales of giant beasts with huge claws, teeth or horns, who stole naughty children in the night or wreaked havoc on unsuspecting towns. All those stories had one thing in common, the beasts always came from across the Border. And while Evangeline couldn’t be sure where exactly it was headed, her gut was telling her that that was the way the beast was headed.
Evangeline had headed into the village centre in hopes of catching a cart to Hallowguard, the nearest Bordertown. Going on foot would take too much time, and time was of the essence. Thankfully, Far Horn was one of the bigger villages on the way to Hallowguard, so supply carts and merchants were common. Luckily for her, she’d caught an old textile merchant preparing their cart in the early hours who was heading towards Hallowguard as well.
“Need to be early to get ahead, deary,” they’d said humorously before they offered her free passage with them in exchange for company. Evangeline gladly took them up on their offer.
Luckily, they’d still needed some time to get their donkey ready for travel, leaving enough time for Evangeline to run to Kahlila’s house and slip a note under her door. It explained that she’d be gone a while, and to contact Kohl if she could. Evangeline didn’t want to worry her or Byron, especially with a baby on the way. She was back just as the merchant got ready to leave.
Despite wanting company, they seemed perfectly happy to sit in relative silence, only humming. Not that Evangeline could complain, she didn’t want to be talked to and was more than happy to keep to herself on the journey. Hours passed as the sun rose and rose in the sky, eventually reaching its peak just as they reached Hallowguard.
Hallowguard was a large town, half nestled by forest to the west with open meadowland to the east. The town itself had wide paved streets to allow merchants and suppliers ample space to cart their wares. Coming up to the town centre, there was a beautiful stone fountain surrounded by a few stalls, just as she remembered. It was so crowded the old merchant had to stop their cart to wait for the way to clear. Over the loud din Evangeline managed to thank the merchant for the ride. As she hopped off the cart with her things, the merchant shouted a farewell to her before she disappeared into the crowd.
Eventually the crowd thinned, and the streets grew quiet. Still, she continued until she reached a street where the paving and homely cottages abruptly stopped. Paved road suddenly became worn dirt and houses gave way to an empty meadow that ended at a wall of moss-covered stones. The Border. Beyond it to the east were moors stretching all the way to the horizon. To the west dense woodland, dark and uninviting.
A longer glance revealed a firebreak right at the edge of their side of the Border, a patch of intentionally burned grass to prevent any fires from jumping to their side of the Border. It must be almost time for the controlled burnings to happen. A good thing too, it was easy to tell that a few large thickets were cropping up too close to the wall. Any bigger and they’d provide ample cover for another gaoithe attack. Hopefully her investigations would lead her elsewhere. She didn’t want to be anywhere near Hallowguard or any Bordertown during the burnings.
Shaking herself from her thoughts she looked westward to Hallowguard’s fortress. Hallowguard’s placement between open grassland and forest meant that it struggled with threats from both. The moors were easier to manage, as despite threats from gaoithe at least one could see them coming as long as the burnings were done. The forest beyond the Border was dangerous and impenetrable, stretching from Hallowguard all the way to the coast. And all manner of monster came from within it, trying to sneak across.
For safety, a break in the trees was maintained, clearly separating their forest from the Border wall and the dark forest beyond it. Many loggers were hired from surrounded towns and villages every autumn to maintain the break, as the military couldn’t handle the sheer mass of such a project alone. The pay was good, and the deal was made sweeter by the fact that loggers could keep whatever they cut. With Far Horn being so close to Hallowguard, Evangeline got to hear all about it from Byron, who got first pickings of any wood brought back. Evangeline supposed, being that friendly had its perks.
The fortress sat just shy of the tree break. Its outer wall was tall and the inner one towering. The battlements atop them were teaming with soldiers. Any archer would have a clear shot at anything that tried sneaking across the Border.
The portcullis was raised at the fortress gate, though a group of armed soldiers stood guard. Making her way to the gate, she stopped as the guards lowered their spears, barring her from entering.
“State your name and business,” said one of the guards.
“Evangeline Carmichael. I’m here to see the Captain of Hallowguard,” she replied.
“The Captain is very busy at the moment. Do you have an appointment with him?” the same guard asked.
“No, but it’s urgent. I need to see him as soon as possible,” she said forcefully. The guard glared at her, clearly disliking her town, but nonetheless motioned for one of their colleagues to inform the Captain of her request. They did reluctantly, leaving Evangeline standing there at the gate with the remaining guards.
It felt like forever by the time the guard came back. “The Captain will see you in his office. But only briefly, he has other work to attend to.”
Nodding, Evangeline followed the guard into the outer courtyard of the fortress. It was sparse of soldiers, most likely because they were in town, keeping the peace and whatnot. She had little time to observe however, before the guard led her towards a set of heavy wooden doors, already opened, that led to the inner courtyard. The inner wall of the fortress had a fortified tower at each corner. Seeing her and their colleague approach, the guards at the doors raised their spears to let them through, allowing her to peak at the inner courtyard. It was horribly bare, with only a well inside and a few soldiers. Opposite the door were windows barred with metal grates and adjacent to that was the keep, likely where the Captain’s office was.
The guard leading her coughed, bringing her attention to a smaller door adjacent to the set she’d just came through. The guard held them open for her, ushering her inside the inner wall of the fortress.
Before her was a long hallway leading to a set of spiral stairs or one of the towers, down more hallways and stairs until she finally reached the door to the keep. The guard opened the door, motioning for her to step inside. The office looked like what you’d expect, a desk with papers strewn about, a bookshelf with a few books and a few windows to let the sun in. At the desk sat the Captain, reading over a piece of paper which he had yet to look up from.
As she stepped into the office, the guard shut the door behind her, leaving her and the Captain alone. Unwilling to break the silence, she stood at the door and waited to be acknowledged. Best not to annoy him before he’d answered her questions.
Finally, he put down the paper with a sigh. “Papers, papers, I’m drowning in papers. I know I’m old, but I’m not ready for desk duty just yet,” he said humorously.
Evangeline offered a polite smile as he got up to shake her hand. “Captain Blake Garmon at your service. I heard from Hutson that you had an urgent issue that you needed to speak to me about.”
Evangeline nodded, briefly explaining what happened the previous night as well as her suspicions of what could’ve taken Lona. When she finished, she asked, “Do you have any information about anything like that coming by here? Or any reports about a young girl or screaming? Anything at all?”
Captain Garmon was silent, his expression grave. “There might’ve been something like that around here recently,” he said carefully. When she didn’t reply, he continued, “Last night, something came through here, big, and dangerous. Some of my soldiers report seeing a child in its mouth. Hearing your story, it was likely your sister.”
Dread filled Evangeline’s chest when she found her suspicions were correct. That thing ran off across the Border with Lona. It would be near impossible to get her back. Evangeline clenched her fists, shaking those thoughts away. Lona was still alive last she was seen, and as long as she was alive Evangeline would find her. “Which direction did it go?”
He shook his head regretfully. “None of my guards caught sight of where it was headed, I’m sorry.”
Evangeline was silent for a time, collecting herself, before she spoke in a voice that shook with anger. “You mean to tell me, that the entirety of Hallowguard’s forces were deployed to fight this monster, and not only did they let it escape with a child, but absolutely none of them saw where it went?”
The Captain scowled. “My soldiers did the best they could—”
“Well, it wasn’t good enough, was it? Hallowguard is known for having some of the best soldiers in all of Artera. The military is supposed to protect us. But you couldn’t even protect one child when she needed you.”
The room was silent. Evangeline glared at Captain Garmon who returned it with a stern look of anger. Behind her the door opened and a guard poked their head in. “Sorry to disturb you, Captain, but you’re needed in the barracks.”
The Captain glanced at the guard, then at Evangeline. His shoulder relaxed as he gave a tired sigh. “I will be there shortly.”
The guard nodded and closed the door. Captain Garmon rose from his seat, fixing Evangeline with a stern stare. “I will be back soon, and we can finish this discussion. While I’m gone, please don’t touch anything.”
He walked past her towards the door, stopping just as he left to give her a sad look over his shoulder. “I’m truly sorry for what happened to your sister. I wish there was more we could’ve done for her.”
The door shut heavily behind her, and she was alone. Gritting her teeth, she slammed her fists down against the desk. Achieving nothing but a smarting hand, she huffed, deciding to wait herself until the Captain got back. She loathed wasting anymore time but knew if she wanted any chance at finding Lona, she needed to know which direction the creature took her. She would interrogate every guard in the fortress to find out if she had to.
Sighing, she opted to occupy herself by glancing out one of the open windows. The one she chose had a clear view of battlement walkway of the inner wall. In the floor of the walkway was a metal grate, exposing a dimly lit room below it. Confused, Evangeline peaked at the inner side of the wall and found the barred windows she’d seen on her way to the keep. A prison then.
Suddenly a voice caught her attention. Curious, she glanced at the walkway to see no soldiers were guarding it, and the inner courtyard was equally as barren.
“Hey,” she heard again, much louder, and clearer this time. It almost seemed to be calling her. She stuck her head out the window to get a better look.
“Down here,” the voice called from below her. Definitely calling her. Looking down, she saw a shadowed hand waving to catch her attention through the bars of the metal grate.
“What do you want?” She called, squinting her eyes to try and get a better look at the stranger.
“I overheard you talking about the beast last night. The one that took your sister?” they said.
“What of it?”
“I was there last night. I saw where it was headed. If you get me out of here, I can show you.”
Evangeline narrowed her eyes. They could just be lying to find a way out of the prison. And if they weren’t a soldier, it was unlikely, they did see the monster and Lona the previous night. Still, if there was even a slight chance they did.
“How do I know you’re telling the truth?” she asked.
“Your sister. She had brown hair and was wearing a white dress, right?”
Hope clawed in her chest. “How do I get you out of there?”
“There’s a door next to my cell that leads into the building you’re in. My cell is locked. Find the key, and we can escape out the other door down the hall.”
“Okay, be there soon,” she said. Leaving the window, she gave a cursory glance over the office. Where would the Captain put his keys, assuming they weren’t on his belt. She was sure they weren’t she’d have seen or at least heard them.
Trying the desk first, she yanked open each drawer, riffling through the papers and stationery before flinging open the next. Straining to hear any sign of movement outside the door, she pulled open the last drawer and spotted a ring of keys under several odds and ends. Grabbing them, she rushed to the door, pulling it open a tad to peak out. Seeing no one, she exited the office, taking care to close the door quietly behind her. Quickly, she approached the set of stairs, reaching the ground floor and jogging down the hall to the door leading into the prison.
Shutting the heavy door as gently as she could, she then rushed to unlock the stranger’s cell door, who let out a yell of relief upon seeing her. Catching a glimpse of them out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly stopped, dropping the keys in her hand, and backing up slowly. Below their waist, instead of human legs, was the large, powerful body of a horse.
“You’re a gaoithe.”
So that's chapter 3. I'm so happy to be finally sharing this. I love my characters so much and it feels like I finally get to take them to show-and-tell.

Clan cat body paint concept
So I came up with this for an AU I've been working on with other people. No one was really into it but I was super enthused and put a lot of thought into it so I refined a few things and now I'm sharing it here.
Text wall under cut. Might also make art for this because I really liked coming up with it.
What if the clan cats wore body paint?
Thunderclan
Very rainbow-y. I like the idea of Thunderclan being colourful but not in the sense they have bright bright colours, more in the sense they have a wide range of earth tones they pick from, it just.. seems very them to me for reasons I can't explain. They also paint themselves with roots and branches or intricate, realistic bolts of lightning. They sometimes combine these ideas, like some cats will have artwork of trees with rainbow or autumn leaves climbing up their fur, or a gradient bolt of lightning 'bursting' from their chest or zipping down their tail or so on.
Messier/excitable apprentices will just shove their paws in dyes and run around sporting rainbow feet, muzzles and tails. Younger cats in general may also have things like saplings which are gradually painted to fully grown plants as they turn warriors. More dedicated cats keep 'growing' these painted plants as they continue to age.
Riverclan
Usually painted with greens and blues and accents of white. They tend to have artwork of fish and bubbling streams, often in combination. Their territory isn't a good source of blue dye however, and they try to stay on good terms with Windclan partly because their main supplier for blue is them (they barter for this, basically).
Apprentices often have fish like minnows and guppies, more show-y designs of higher ranks include things like rivers full of salmon or trout and aquatic plants flowing across the whole flanks of cats.
Windclan
Greens, whites, yellows, pinks and purples. They love to paint flowers down their heads, necks and tails and sometimes have them painted on their backs as well. Swirling patterns are also popular, and maybe on occasion simplified rabbits (I'm thinking something like the folklore art in Watership Down in terms of style here). Buttercups, heather and thistle are all popular designs.
Their territory has a plethora of plants they use for dyes which is how they supply Riverclan with blue dye (my idea here was they have something like dyer's knotweed, but despite Riverclan being where a lot of the river is the plant mainly grows in Windclan territory. Riverclan is very miffed about this /lh).
Shadowclan
Primarily dark colours like black, hunter green and deep purples. They often go for stripes, spots, and other patterns. They especially love to make themselves look 'poisonous' (think painting themselves with black, then polka-dotting lighter colours as if they're a poison dart frog or something). Aside from these poisonous looks though Shadowclan cats don't usually have bright colours and stick to murky palettes.
Sometimes they'll paint polypores onto themselves with attention paid to adding depth and dimension so it looks as if they literally have mushrooms growing on their fur. Moss and lichen are also simpler options.
Skyclan
These cats usually have very pale palettes like sky blue, light yellow and white. They love to have depictions of trees, clouds and types of weather. Modern Skyclan has been quite influenced by Firestar when he was trying to form the clan again, so despite his attempts to teach them just ancient Skyclan culture some of Thunderclan's influence seeped in and now they also like to have rainbow-y colours, though these are more pastel in nature. Sometimes they will mix blacks and blues to make deep night sky paintings of clouds and constellations on themselves (this is maybe more of a leader thing? Or perhaps medicine cats).

Moss wall art installations are highly versatile and are a great way to integrate biophilic design into an area so as to bring a portion of nature to any setting.
● Better Air Quality: Moss acts as an excellent natural air purifier in any commercial setting. It absorbs hazardous gases like carbon dioxide as well as pollutants and dust that is converted into the plant’s biomass. This natural process allows you to have cleaner, fresher, air in any office or retail setting.
● Noise Reduction: Greenery, including moss, has the natural ability to absorb high-frequency noise. Installing moss walls in your office spaces may be a great option to lower noise levels, which can boost concentration and ultimately employee productivity in an otherwise noisy office environment.
● Connection to Nature: According to the biophilia hypothesis, exposure to nature is a fundamental human requirement. "G'morning, baby." Steve mumbled huskily, one eye opening into a squint so her could look at me without being blinded by the unforgiving sun spilling like water through the curtains that we may or may not have forgotten to close in our lustful hurry last night.
"Morning." I whispered back, fully aware of the brunet super soldier laying peacefully asleep behind me, cool metal arm sling over my waist atop the duvet. His hot, steady breath fanned over my neck, his nose buried into my hair. I was laying on my side, simply watching steve as he slept until he had clearly awoken.
"It's rude to stare, you know." He mumbled back lazily, eyes finally fluttering open. A wide smile played on my lips, as it always did when I could look so deeply into those ocean blue eyes.
"Sorry." I smile back, eyes pleading. A chuckle, low and rumbling, came from Steve at the sound of my disjointed, broken morning voice. "Hey!" I whisper-shouted, untucking my hand from under my head to slap Steve's bare chest, but he caught my wrist with ease. He slowly pulled it up to his face, pressing a soft kiss to the back of my hand, lips feathering against my skin.
"Now I'm sorry. I somehow forgot how you're still recovering." Steve apologised, continuing to press his lips to my hand, eyes looking into mine. I shuddered slightly, letting my free hand raise to my neck, my fingers dancing faintly over the long, horizontal scar spanning the space. The memory, the pain, still haunted me. Haunted me like a ghost that was sent for me, and only me. My dreams had often been filled with these images - ones of a flashing silver blade, sinister splatters of blood, grotesque and open wounds. The thought made me shudder again, as if to shake off the bad memories.
"You know that one won't be awake for a while." I mumbled, taking a glance at the clock over Steve's shoulder, seeing that it was barely nine am. Steve smiled against my hand, eyes loving.
"I know. So why don't we have a little fun while we wait?" He grinned, almost boyishly, a level of lust clouding the pure blue that usually dazzled across his eyes. I quirked a brow, expectantly, as Steve kept looking at my mischievously from under his long lashes, lips travelling quickly towards my neck.
He grabbed my other wrist, chuckling lowly as I giggled when he flipped us, gently pulling me from Bucky's grasp which earnest us a longing groan but not even a stir, before I was under Captain America in his bed.
Steve's lips didn't leave my skin once, his skin soft against mine as put naked bodies rutted into one another, my head thrown against the pillows now as I felt the surge of arousal pang at my core. One of this thick fingers traced my slit, circling my cliff lightly before he was pulling it away, offering the digit for me to lick clean. I moan at my taste, the sound matching Steve's groan as his cock hardened watching my suck off his finger.
"Ready baby?" He breathed, lining himself up with my dripping heat and pushing in when I whispered with a nod. His palm covered my mouth, strangling my moans and muffling any noise as he begun to thrust, slow but hard, the headboard slowly knocking into the wall behind us. The thumping of wood against plaster only made me more aroused, the realisation of how strong to man above me actually was.
With his free hand, Steve ran his fingers over my arm and up my wrist, before tangling them with mine and pressing my hand into the pillow beside me face, gripping me tight. His face was buried in the joint where my neck and shoulder met, his soft grunts disguised by my flesh as he bit down on my skin to keep himself quiet. My other hand claws at his back, harsh enough for boy of us to know there'd be lines down his back when this was done.
The trimmed patch of hair at the base of his cock scraped across my clit with every thrust, sending jolts of pleasure through me and causing stars to cloud my vision.
It was obvious we were both getting close when we heard Bucky speak.
"Getting started without me?" His raspy husk of a morning voice pondered, the bed dipping by my shoulder as he propped himself up on a fore arm. Steve groaned, lifting his face from my neck and turning it to the side, giving Bucky a glare. But his hips never stopped moving into mine. In fact, they only seemed to speed up, his pelvis slapping into mine hard enough to leave bruises.
"Don't mind me. I think it's a rather lovely sight to wake up to." Bucky grinned, his tongue tracing his bottom lip as he watch steve lift his palm from my mouth, tangling his hand with mine as a jumble of moans and pleas finally fell from my lips. "Make her cum."
And with those words alone I was seeing white splotches across my vision, my hips bucking up desperately and Steve threw his head back, the tightness of my walls from my orgasm causing his own.
"F-fuck! Y/n!" He moaned loudly, collapsing on top of me as he painted my walls with his seed. My eyes were still lost somewhere in my skull, chest heaving as I slowly ran my fingers through Steve's hair, his head resting against my chest.
"How about we fill in Bucky on what he's missed?" Steve murmured in my ear, teeth nipping along my neck, a smirk tugging at our lips.
...
Pulling her hood up further over her head, y/n quickened her steps. One of the other downsides that came from the night Bucky returned was that her face was now well know. With the amount of reporters and just cameras in general that were at the party her dad had originally thrown to celebrate the first proper steps of her recovery, y/n's face was probably the most well-know one in New York second to maybe only Tony Stark's himself.
The pavement slapped beneath the rubber soles on her shoes, the dirtied black trainers helping y/n blend in against the see of clearly struggling people. Her eyes stayed narrow, fixated on my target as she eyed the small alleyway, three doors away from Benjies, a little run-down cafe that no one wanted to buy and no one could afford to buy. The bricks swallowed any hint of safety, dark shadows lurked almost as anxiously as the people they concealed.
Sharply turning on her heel, y/n pivoted into the dingy space between two broken buildings, litters of waste, used joints and other miscellaneous junk scattered the crumbled tarmac floor, the gaps between bricks stuffed full with moss and wrappers whilst the bricks themselves were marked up with paints of all colours, forming poetic pieces of scrabbling artwork that decorated the discarded buildings.
Y/n cleared her throat, nerves bubbling as she approached the also hooded-figure who was leant casually against the left wall, giving the illusion he knew it well. But y/n could tell from the way his slender body was slightly tensed, brown eyes darting as the drips of clinging water shattered against stone and the way his hand rested over the side of his thigh - ready to pull out the small gun at a splits second notice that he was only once familiar with this place, but had neglected it - even fled it, for a long while now.
"You sure you wanna do this, kid?" His voice was soothing, a complete contrast to y/n's abused, scratchy one as she gritted through her teeth,
"Don't tell me what to do, Sam. You promised you'd give me the name of your supplier, no questions asked." She ground the last words out, hands falling from her pockets and balling to fists at her side. Sam sighed deeply, pushing himself from the wall and sauntering closer, closing the gap between him and y/n as he rolled his eyes obnoxiously at her irked stance.
"I know, just consider what you're doing. This shit can really fuck you up, I stopped for a reason." Sam suggested, fingers curling over her shoulder his his hand settled there, a comforting gesture.
"I know what I'm doing. I just- I can't keep up with the stress." Y/n admitted, a vulnerable crunch behind her grit teeth as she tried to spit the words out. Sam held his hands up in surrender, backing up a step when he saw the dangerous lurk to y/n's eyes.
"I know, I know." He offered a small smile, dipping a hand into the back pocket of his jeans and fishing out a small slip of paper, torn edges and all. He crammed the piece into y/n's waiting hand, but didn't let go as he looked directly into her eyes. "I'm sorry. I know it's tough, and I get why. Hell, it's exactly what I did. But it's a steep slope, one that few get off of." He warned.
"I understand, are we done now?" Y/n scoffed, her indifference unnerving yet the facade held cracks that few could see.
"Just don't let your boys know I gave that number to you. I know both of them would give me hell if they ever found out I was involved." Sam requested, and y/n gave him a cert nod.
"They won't find out. Promise." Y/n even punctuated her words with a tight smile, although it didn't quite touch her eyes. Sam returned the gesture, all be it slightly warmer, before he was brushing past her, clearly desperate to leave the little alleyway before anyone could catch him.
