Gunman killed 51 worshippers at two mosques in Christchurch in March 2019 Families and survivors had their first chance to confront the white supremacist who killed 51 worshippers in a mass shooting at two New Zealand mosques in March 2019, as his four-day sentencing hearing began Monday. "You killed your own humanity, and I don't think the world will forgive you for your horrible crime," said a tearful Maysoon Salama, the mother of 33-year-old Atta Elayyan, who was killed in the attacks. "You thought you can break us. You failed miserably." The gunman, 29-year-old Australian Brenton Harrison Tarrant, pleaded guilty in March to 51 counts of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder and one count of terrorism — the first terrorism conviction in New Zealand's history. He could become the first person in New Zealand to be sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, the toughest sentence available. Tarrant was brought into the Christchurch High Court shackled and wearing a grey prison outfit. In the dock, unshackled and surrounded by five officers, he showed little emotion throughout the hearing. He occasionally looked around the room, tapped his fingers, and watched the survivors as they spoke. Two dozen victims, family members testify The courtroom was only half full due to coronavirus distancing requirements, while many others watched from adjacent courtrooms where the hearing was streamed. Survivors and family members occasionally wept and comforted each other. Victims' families confront New Zealand mosque shooter as his four-day sentencing hearing gets underway. #newzealand #mosqueshootings #christchurch #christchurchshooting #news #surrey https://www.instagram.com/p/CER_yQ1AD01/?igshid=1d597tj446xff

Australia Has A New Fearless Hero, Eggboy And The Internet Reacts To #EggBoy
Over the weekend Australia fell in love with a young lad who has been dubbed Egg Boy. The seventeen-year-old, whose real name is Will Connolly, egged racist senator Fraser Anning after he blamed Friday's terrorist attack in New Zealand on Muslim immigration. The grown man reciprocated by punching the teen twice, before the latter was tackled and put in a choke hold by several other adult men. After the incident, where the Senator punched him and some men held him in a chokehold, "Egg Boy" was arrested. "Egg Boy" is going to donate most of the money raised for him towards the victims of the Christchurch mosque attacks. Will Connolly, who refers to himself as the "Egg Boy", cracked a raw egg over disgraced Australian politician Fraser Anning's head.
The egging came after Anning made victim-blaming comments in the wake of Christchurch mosque shootings. This prompted the creation of a GoFundMe page to raise funds for his legal fees (and more eggs), which has so far raised close to $42,000.
After Connolly was released without being charged, he spoke out on Twitter.

New Zealand mosque shootings kill 49
Forty-nine people have been killed and at least 20 wounded in shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison described one alleged gunman, who had Australian citizenship, as an "extremist, right-wing" terrorist. A man in his late twenties was charged with murder and will appear in court on Saturday morning, police confirmed. Two other men and one woman were detained nearby and firearms seized, Police Commissioner Mike Bush said. He said police had determined that one of the people detained was not involved in the incident, and officers were working to understand if the other two were connected. The shooting was the deadliest in the country's history. Live coverage of the New Zealand mosque shooting One gunman live-streamed footage of his rampage to Facebook, filmed with a head-mounted camera. The footage showed him firing indiscriminately at men, women and children from close range inside the Al-Noor mosque. Police called on the public not to share the "extremely distressing" footage online. Facebook said it had removed the gunman's Facebook and Instagram accounts and was working to remove any copies of the footage. Witnesses 'prayed for end to bullets' Bangladesh cricket team escapes shooting The suspect was also believed to have published a manifesto outlining his intentions, in which he identified himself as a 28-year-old born in Australia and espoused far right and anti-immigrant ideology. Police Commissioner Bush confirmed that the suspect who was charged was not known in advance to either New Zealand or Australian security services. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called it one of New Zealand's "darkest days". "It is clear that this can now only be described as a terrorist attack," she said.
What do we know at this point?
The first report of an attack came from the Al Noor mosque, located in central Christchurch. Witnesses told local media they ran for their lives, and saw people bleeding on the ground outside the building. A second mosque in the suburb of Linwood was evacuated, but there were fewer details from that site. Police also defused "a number of IEDs (explosive devices) attached to vehicles", Mr Bush said.
Image copyrightEPAImage captionArmed police patrol following a shooting at the Al Noor mosque Authorities advised all mosques in the city to shut down until further notice. Armed police were also seen at Papanui High School in Christchurch, which was cordoned off. Speaking at a press conference, Mr Bush said police were working to determine whether the other suspects detained were involved in the incident. He said a number of firearms had been recovered from both shooting sites, and explosive devices were found in a car belonging to one of the suspects.
What happened at the mosques?
The sequence of events remains unclear and has mostly come via eyewitness reports to local media. One unnamed survivor told TV New Zealand he was at the Al Noor mosque, and saw a gunman shoot a man directly in the chest. The attacker reportedly targeted the men's prayer room in the mosque, then moved to the women's room. "What I did was basically just waiting and praying, God please, let this guy run out of bullets," the witness said. "He came to this side, he shot this side, he went to another room and went to the ladies' section and shot them. I just heard one of the ladies has died."
Media captionEyewitness: "My hands were shaking so hard" A Palestinian man who asked not to be named told the AFP news agency he heard rapid gunfire and saw a man shot in the head. "I heard three quick shots, then after about 10 seconds it started again - it must have been an automatic, no one could pull a trigger that quick," he said. "Then people started running out. Some were covered in blood." A second mosque in the suburb of Linwood was also evacuated. The police commissioner said "multiple fatalities" were recorded at two locations.
How have authorities responded?
Multiple casualties were brought to Christchurch Hospital where there was a heavy police presence. A spokeswoman said Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) had activated its mass casualty plan, the New Zealand news site Stuff.co.nz reported. Police earlier cleared Cathedral Square, where thousands of children had been holding a rally for action on climate change.
Police Commissioner Bush said: "Police are responding with its full capability to manage the situation, but the risk environment remains extremely high. Police recommend that residents across Christchurch remain off the streets and indoors until further notice." A lockdown on all schools in Christchurch was lifted, and parents told could collect their children. Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison tweeted: "I'm horrified by the reports I'm following of the serious shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand. The situation is still unfolding but our thoughts and prayers are with our Kiwi cousins."
Cricket team escapes attack
The Bangladesh national cricket team appeared to have narrowly escaped the shooting. A reporter following the team, which was due to play New Zealand in a now-cancelled test match on Saturday, tweeted that the team had "escaped from a mosque near Hagley Park where there were active shooters". Player Tamim Iqbal tweeted that the "entire team got saved from active shooters". Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Yunus said most of the team had gone to mosque by bus and were about to go inside when the incident took place. "They are safe. But they are mentally shocked. We have asked the team to stay confined in the hotel," he told the AFP news agency. Read the full article

The speaker comes on “mosque shooting”
Everything is hazy
“49 killed”
The sound is too thick.
Everything melts away in a heat of anger
The ice in our hearts melts to tears in our eyes
From across the class we hear a bitter laugh
It echoes the gunshots
With rage flowing through her veins
And glassy eyes with a tear stained cheek
She places a stone upon her heart and speaks
“Of course it happened in place called Christchurch”
We all understand.
Everything that was too loud a minute before
Is blanketed in an unbreakable silence.
The 49 murdered. Who were they?
Someone’s mother, father, child,family, brothersisterauntunclenephewniecefriend.
All of those. But Who were they?
Human.
Unlike the monster who shot them down one by one in God’s house itself.
With all our heads down we think about the lost and sympathize for their families.
In that moment it doesn’t matter what race or religion or colour we are
We stand with the Muslim community because it is OUR community.
Why does it take the death of innocent people for us to realize that?
The more you shoot us down the higher we will stand
We refuse to accept our place at your feet
Either you consider us your equal or nothing at all
You may discriminate against the colour of our skin
But you forget why it is brown in the first place
We have risen from the earth itself
We are the result of years of labour, toiling, war, fighting for freedom, fighting against hatred.
You think the hate crime will bring us below you
But we have been fighting for our place in this world as your equals since birth.
We are the result of years of hard work and struggle
The hardships and stories of our people engraved in every bone in our body
Their fiery strength flows in our blood
We will not stand back now
You can shoot us down a million times
And we will always get back up and greet you
“Hello Brother”

Praise for NZ PM Jacinda Ardern
Kudos to the way PM Ardern has been handling the aftermath of the horrendous dual mosque shooting by an Australian madman. Rightly, she has focused on her country's victims and families, as well as her citizens' grief, ahead of anything else. She did not blink in legislating new rules on guns, and Christchurch didn't hesitate in making a special burial site amid its cemetery, for the victims. This has all been done almost spontaneously and New Zealanders didn't even wait for the new gun control to instead volunteer to ditch their guns, for some. Ardern, with a lot of dexterity, foiled the shooter's desire for recognition and relegated him to obscurity, preventing any amplification or spread of his hateful disease. She has boxed him in brillantly. None, the handholding of a monster. None, the guffing over legalistics. It's not all about him, while the victims would be getting doubly victimized in death. He is what he is - walking subhuman shame, a disgusting excuse for a man, and not surprisingly...a Trump admirer. I personally think International Law needs to officially enact all places of worship around the world as legally protected sacred ground, and punish crimes committed within as carrying with the harshest of sanctions and sentences for the extreme gall and transgression. This is sadly a phenomenon that is not slowing down. I hope authorities are all as expeditive as Prime Minister Ardern. By the way, my best wishes of strength and courage in his cancer battle, to Quebec city mayor Regis Labeaume who on a local level did his very best in the aftermath of the Quebec mosque shooting. My father survived prostate cancer and I hope the beloved Mayor Labeaume beats it too.

A terrorist creates another!
I have no words! Three men and one woman are responsible for New Zealand’s mosques shooting. It was a mass shooting by four terrorists which killed more than dozen people peacefully praying in their mosque and injured several more.
The shooter’s excuse is that he felt like there were too many Muslims taking over? Are you effin kidding me? If for instance we say that Muslims were taking over, this POS still lived and is still alive. They didn’t harm you, did they?!
I pray that you and your team rots in jail and in hell in the after life. No decency, no humanity.
Just remember you POS, you can record killing people live, you can go around killing people. But it’s POS terrorists like you who create more terrorists. Hope you get the severe punishment that you deserve.

New Zealand shooting: Turkey’s President wants death penalty restored over attack
President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday called on New Zealand to restore the death penalty for the gunman who killed 50 people at two Christchurch mosques, warning that Turkey would make the attacker pay for his act if New Zealand did not.
Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, a suspected white supremacist, was charged with murder on Saturday after a lone gunman opened fire at the two mosques during prayers on Friday.
«You heinously killed 50 of our siblings. You will pay for this. If New Zealand doesn’t make you, we know how to make you pay one way or another,» Erdogan told an election rally of thousands in northern Turkey. He did not elaborate.

SHATTERED MY SOUL!!! A 13 year old boy named Zaid Mustafa, who was injured/wounded during the attacks on the Christ Church Mosque’s, just buried his brother Hamza(15 years)) young) and father Khalid (44). Zaid said when burying them “I shouldn’t be standing in front of you, I should be lying besides you. I don’t want to be here ALONE”. His family migrated from Syria as refugees to New Zealand, about a year ago, hoping they can flee Syria during the midst of the wars to New Zealand for a better life and this happens. New Zealand Massacre: Nigerian Imam Who Saved Countless Lives, Speaks .. Alabi Lateef, a #Nigerian #Imam who saved several lives during the #NewZealand terror attack, has broken his silence about the massacre. .. At the Linwood mosque, worshippers were about to drop to the floor for the second part of the prayer service, when Lateef spotted the gunman. .. Hearing gunfire outside, the Imam shouted ‘go down’, warning the worshippers to take cover. .. Lateef said no one listened to me until unfortunately he came from behind and he shot one of our brothers in the head through the window. He saw him standing and shot him through the window. ..
