Roman Glass
Roman glassware includes some of the finest pieces of art ever produced in antiquity and the very best were valued higher than wares made with precious metals. However, plain glass vessels such as cups, bowls, plates, and bottles were also used as everyday containers, in particular, for storing and serving food and drinks. Glass was also used by the Romans for its decorative qualities and could be incorporated in mosaics and decorative panels in both walls and furniture. The material was also used for windows, to create jewellery, mirrors, game pieces, magnifying glasses, sculpture and, in the form of powder, even as a medicine and toothpaste.
Materials
The use of the man-made material called glass - a mix of soda, silica, and lime - pre-dates the Romans by over 1,500 years, but even they seem not to have fully understood the complexity of the component mix and the necessity for lime to make the glass impervious to water and much more durable to the ravages of time and use. Lime can be found naturally, for example, as part of the silica component in the form of sand which contains a significant percentage of crushed sea shells. Indeed, two areas became noted for the high quality of their glass - along the Belarus River in Phoenicia and the Volturnus River in Campania - not coincidentally, areas where the sand was particularly rich in lime. However, some Roman glassmakers, perhaps without knowing exactly why, did understand that the addition of small pebbles and shells could affect the final quality of the glass produced.

Types of Hardscaping Materials for Your Landscape
When was the last time your yard underwent a makeover? Often when we think of changing the landscaping, planting grass, trees, and shrubs comes to mind. Nonetheless, landscapes involve more than just the botanicals which make up the softscaping aspect.
Concrete
Tumblr media
Right away, concrete comes to mind when envisioning landscape designs. However, your choices are no longer limited to the dull gray hue or the boring, flat slab. Concrete can be stained, stamped, texturized, or even mixed with other materials for a more dramatic look. Moreover, you can use concrete to create planters, basins, steps, and edging as well as for patios and walkways.
Brick
Tumblr media
With some many shapes, sizes, and tones to choose from, brick remains a popular mainstay in hardscaping designs. Like concrete, brick is fairly low-maintenance and quite sturdy. From outdoor fireplaces to short, decorative walls, there are many ways you can integrate bricks into your outdoor living space. Plus, brick offers a creative twist for patio surfaces since you use the different shades to create different patterns.
Also see: A Comprehensive Guide to Understand Hardscaping
Stone
Stone is another durable material that opens up numerous design possibilities. Natural stone, for example, gives you a broad spectrum of shapes, textures, and shades to work with. Its distinctive qualities allows for a more eclectic arrangement as well as popular styles like xeriscaping and zen gardens. On the other hand, flagstone offers a more symmetrical, structured look, especially when incorporated into walls or paving. Or in its natural state, flagstone is perfect for a rustic motif.
Loose Rock
Another popular hardscaping material that serves many purposes is loose rock and pebbles. Like flagstone and natural stone, you’ll find loose rock that comes in a broad array of earth tones which makes it a versatile addition to your landscaping. Some ideas for including loose rock and pebbles include pathways, borders, and rock beds for small ponds or fountains. Additionally, some gardeners fill shallow planters with pebbles to provide a colorful alternative to plants.
Pavers
Tumblr media
As already mentioned, bricks and flat stones make excellent flooring for your patio, but pavers work just as well and are easy to replace. These pieces are fabricated from a mixture of coloring and concrete that’s poured into a mold. Installing pavers can be as complex as bricks, but you can also lay them over a bed of sand or gravel as long as the ground below has been thoroughly tamped and leveled. Or for a distinct mosaic look, you can use interlocking pavers to create almost any type of pattern.
Tile
Tumblr media
Though this hardscaping material comes with a higher price tag than the others mentioned, tile lasts for decades and gives an elegant touch to any outdoor space. Similar to the indoor choices, you can select terracotta, ceramic, porcelain, or quarry tiles for the flooring of an outdoor kitchen or seating area. Tiles also make great accents on to concrete slabs.
So there you have our list of hardscaping materials. While some of these options can be installed as a weekend DIY project, you might enlist the advice and services of experts who can help you design the outdoor space of your dreams. Fix Your Broken Stuff with Epoxy: A Guide to Restoring Treasures, Big and Small
The dreaded sound of shattering glass or the discovery of a chipped favorite mug can send shivers down anyone's spine. But before you resign yourself to replacing your belongings, consider the magic of epoxy. This remarkable adhesive isn't just for professional repairers; it's a powerful tool readily available to empower your DIY spirit and breathe new life into your broken treasures.
Why Epoxy Reigns Supreme
Forget temporary fixes and fleeting joys. Epoxy offers a permanent solution for a wide range of repairs, surpassing traditional glues in several key ways:
Unbreakable Bonds, Lasting Fun: Unlike glues that weaken over time, epoxy forms a powerful chemical bond that rivals the strength of the material itself. Your favorite mug becomes whole again, ready for countless cups of coffee and countless moments of joy.
Crystal Clear Clarity, Memories Untarnished: High-quality epoxy boasts remarkable clarity. Repairs become virtually invisible, restoring the object's original beauty and allowing intricate details to shine through. Your cherished memories etched into the broken glass remain clear and untarnished.
A Material Matchmaker: Traditional glues often struggle to adhere to smooth surfaces like glass. Epoxy, however, is a true material matchmaker. It bonds to a wide variety of materials including glass, ceramics, wood, and even some plastics. This opens doors for an endless array of repair possibilities.
Beyond the Broken: A Toolbox of Fixes
The beauty of epoxy lies in its versatility. Here are some everyday scenarios where it can save the day:
The Chipped Mug Crisis: A beloved mug with a sentimental chip? Fear not! Epoxy can seamlessly reattach the missing piece, restoring function and preserving memories.
The Wobbly Table Woes: A wobbly table leg can be a safety hazard. But with the strength of epoxy, you can securely reattach the leg and ensure a stable surface for countless meals and gatherings.
The Leaky Shower Lament: A leaky shower tile can be a major headache. But worry not! Epoxy forms a waterproof seal, fixing minor cracks and preventing further water damage.
The Art of the Fix: A Simple 5-Step Guide
Ready to tackle your first repair project? Here's a simple 5-step guide to get you started:
Safety First: Don gloves and eye protection to shield yourself from any potential fumes or stray epoxy during application.
Cleanliness is Key: Prepare the repair area by thoroughly cleaning the broken surfaces with rubbing alcohol. This removes dirt, oil, or grease that might hinder the bond's strength.
Mixing with Precision: Most epoxy comes in two parts – the resin and the hardener. Refer to the package instructions for the proper mixing ratio. Think of yourself as an alchemist, carefully combining the elements to create a powerful bonding potion.
Reassemble with Care: Apply a thin layer of epoxy to the cleaned surfaces. Carefully position the broken pieces back together, ensuring a seamless fit. For larger repairs, consider using clamps to hold the pieces in place during the curing process.
Patience is a Virtue: Resist the urge to rush! Allow the epoxy ample time to cure completely, as per the product instructions. With each passing minute, the bond grows stronger, solidifying your repair and ensuring a long-lasting fix.
Beyond Repairs: A World of Creative Possibilities
Epoxy isn't just about fixing what's broken; it's about unlocking your creative potential:
The Artistic Touch: Use leftover epoxy and colorful glass pebbles or seashells to create a decorative border around a repaired vase or chipped plate, transforming it into a one-of-a-kind mosaic masterpiece.
The Upcycler's Ally: Give old furniture or decorative items a new lease on life. Reattach loose parts, repair cracks, or even add a decorative inlay with epoxy and colorful glass pieces.
The Craft Corner Companion: Embrace your inner artist! Use epoxy to adhere embellishments to various craft projects, from decorative photo frames to personalized phone cases. Its strong bond ensures your creations last a lifetime.
Embrace the Challenge, Unleash Your Creativity
So, the next time you encounter a broken object, don't despair. With a tube of epoxy and a little bit of know-how, you can transform yourself from a frustrated onlooker into a repair warrior. Embrace the challenge, unleash your creativity, and discover the joy of bringing your broken treasures back to life Epoxy tile joint filler

FRIGILIANA - a day excursion by coach from Benalmadena Costa.
Tumblr media
The small white village of Frigiliana, in the Axarquia region of the Costa del Sol, is often described as Andalucia’s prettiest village by the tourism authority.
It's certainly very picturesque and is in a fabulous position high above the coast offering spectacular views from various vantage points.
However, it's extremely hilly and no matter which way you look at it, there are very few flat areas to walk around and probably explains why we only got around 90 minutes to explore.
Whichever way you go, you must walk up - or down.
So, like the majority of other passengers on our tour bus, we opted for the €3.50pp tourist mini-train around the village tour, which then gave us some time to explore part of the village with the mosaic pebble patterns in the footprint of the narrow streets of white houses and shops.
youtube
My video mash up of 4 different clips taken during the tourist train ride and some photographs of our own exploration afterwards, before we headed off to Nerja as our next stop.
Commentary on the mini-train is in Spanish and English.
Apologies, this is my first long video and also mixing different clips together, so forgive me if it's a bit on the unprofessional side 🫣
RESERVATION CONCERNS:
We booked online from UK in advance of our arrival in Benalmadena, (not something we usually do, but the reason will come clear in the next few paragraphs).
The cost was approximately €33pp (September 2023). The pickup was very handy though, at the bottom of the road from our hotel. Just a quick roll down the steep hill.
We were staying at the medPlaya Hotel Bali.
If you know the location, you will already be familiar with "cardiac hill" - there's at least one with this same name in every tourist resort.
BOOKING INFORMATION:
Our online reservation was made through Rubens Excursions: https://www.rubensexcursions.com/#excursion7
The tour itself is operated by: Viajes Costafrica - website link: https://costafrica.com/ but we could find no way to book with them directly and email contact proved fruitless.
Important Note: although the coach continuously showed lots of seat availability (around 53 each time we checked) - almost all of the seats were filled after our last pickup as we left Benalmadena.
We became suspicious after noticing that no seats were being booked during the days since we had started to monitor it - showing an almost empty coach.
Yet the excursion was still operating - it simply made no sense.
Therefore, we had to assume agency bookings were not automatically added to the live system, or being taken into consideration.
It was for this reason we decided to bite the bullet - and book ahead of our arrival in Benalmadena.
The excursion runs just one day per week and ours was a 10 night trip, arriving in the evening into the resort.
It meant we were left with only one weekday to visit the office, a short walk from our hotel - the Benalmadena office is closed at the weekend.
See my previous post and photos taken in the village of Frigiliana after we finished the mini-train tour here:

Creative Ways to Use Pebbles in Your Landscaping
Landscaping your garden or yard is like painting a canvas. It’s all about layering elements to create something beautiful and functional. But who says that functional can't be stylish? When people think of landscaping, they often focus on plants, trees, or ornamental structures. Yet, one often overlooked element is pebbles. Yes, you heard it right—those small, unassuming Pebbles for Landscaping can be the unsung heroes that take your outdoor space from good to great.
Pebbles offer texture, color, and a natural feel to any landscape. They are also highly versatile, affordable, and low-maintenance compared to other Decorative Stones for Gardens. Whether you buy them online, find them at Pebbles Landscape Supplies. Or you can even find them at local Gatton Landscape Supplies. These little gems can work wonders. In this post, we’ll explore five creative ways to use pebbles to enhance your landscape. So, let's dive right in!

Imagine walking down a pathway that's not just a means to get from Point A to Point B but also a work of art. Creating a pebble mosaic with Natural Stone Pebbles adds an artistic flair to your garden pathways or patios. All you need is some creative imagination, different shades of pebbles, and time. Lay them out in patterns or designs that speak to you, and voila! You've added a functional yet artistic element to your yard.
2] Pebble Mulch for Plant Beds
Mulching is essential for plant health, but who says it needs to be dull? Swap out traditional wood chips with Decorative Pebbles for Gardens. Pebbles serve the same purpose of retaining moisture and preventing weeds, but they add a visually appealing aesthetic layer. Opt for White Pebbles for Landscaping to make the colors of your flowers pop, or go for a darker shade to create a moody, tranquil atmosphere.
3] Build a Pebble Water Feature
Adding a water feature gives a sense of tranquility to your garden. So why not use pebbles to make it even more serene? With Stone Pebbles Landscaping, you can make a water feature that looks natural and matches the surroundings. Whether a small pond or a cascading waterfall, the combination of water and pebbles can turn your garden into a peaceful retreat.
4] Create Pebble Borders
Borders can add definition to your garden beds, pathways, or lawn. Instead of metal or plastic edging, use Natural Pebble Supplies to create natural and organic-looking borders. You can even mix and match with Crushed Rock Landscaping materials for a textured look that’s both stylish and functional.
5] Add a Pebble Focal Point
Every garden needs a focal point—a centerpiece that captures attention. Create a rock garden using pebbles and a few larger stones. This gives your landscape design a distinct focus and adds another layer of texture and color. Whether it's a mound of Tumbled Pebble Queensland or a combo of pebbles and boulders, the choices are endless.
Conclusion
Pebbles can be used for making artistic walkways and natural-looking water features in your outdoor space. Landscaping projects benefit from their versatility, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
If you’re interested in exploring various types of pebbles for your garden, look no further than Oz Landscape Supplies. They offer various quality pebbles and stones to suit all your landscaping needs.

Patio Walk Maker Stepping Stone Concrete Paver Molds
The estimated mildew life is 2000 castings with proper storage and use. Always use a release agent (We suggest G-1 Release) and retailer on a flat, surface in a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight. While utilizing the molds outside, throw a tarp over them or maintain them out of direct daylight. The analysis presents the performance of every participant active within the global Pultrusion market. It also provides a abstract and highlights the present advancements of every participant available in the market. This piece of data is a superb source of research materials for the traders and stakeholders involved out there https://columbiamachine.com/concrete-molds/.
All you have to do is borrow expertise developed hundreds of years in the past by mariners.
But keep in mind that the concrete paver molds for every paver must be equivalent, else you might face a problem whereas laying them.
Note, as nicely, that you can make many other concrete materials with this method.
The producers say that you do not actually must lubricate the mildew prior to pouring in cement, in contradiction to other reviewers who've ceaselessly suggested that that is the case. As properly, should you only wish to use one sq. part of the mildew, you can add the concrete just to that utilizing a small carton like a coffee can. This concrete path kind offered by Kenley is well-made, durable, useful and suitable for making straight edges, curves, and angles. Users love the price and the patterns, but some do observe that it’s small. It's best to ease the shape out of the ground, somewhat than simply lifting it up vertically- it helps prevent sticking cement. You can even create partial, or single, cobbles by selectively pouring the concrete using a halved gallon jug.
Kerbstone Mould
This possibility features hydraulic proportional management to vary the width of the mildew while paving, to provide a tapered slab. Lateral travel and vertical plow control can be operated manually or set on automated. Three proximity switches present horizontal directional control of the spreader-plow. A single change is set at every finish of the specified plow travel.
and therapy from a doctor expert in working with mould sufferers. I also convey hard-earned knowledge from my years of experience coping with and remediating my house and physique for mildew efficiently. My relations and I are now symptom free, and our home has tested mycotoxin-free of mould. As with any new merchandise or well being protocols, I advise you to hunt out your individual experts and medical doctors and to not solely base your recovery on ANY suggestion or methodology I write about in this blog.
As a development materials, concrete could be forged in virtually any form desired, and as soon as hardened, can turn out to be a structural element. Concrete can be used within the development of structural elements like panels, beams, and avenue furnishings, or could also be cast-in situ for superstructures like roads and dams. These could also be supplied with concrete combined on website, or could also be provided with 'ready-combined' concrete made at everlasting mixing websites. Portland cement can also be utilized in mortars , for plasters and screeds, and in grouts (cement/water mixes squeezed into gaps to consolidate foundations, street-beds, and so on.). The lower the amount of water in a traditional concrete mix, the lower its droop. Low droop values in traditional mixes typically mean greater high quality concrete.
Rubber Paver Mould Tiles Manufacturers
The Market Reports Insights provides numerous options and its full addition in the analysis methods to be skilled at every step. We use extensive-ranging assets to produce one of the best end result for our customers.
Analysts have revealed that the Pultrusion market has proven a number of significant developments over the past few years. The report begins with a short introduction and market overview of the Pultrusion industry followed by its market scope and dimension. Next, the report provides an outline of market segmentation corresponding to type, software, and region. The drivers, limitations, and alternatives for the market are additionally listed, along with present developments and policies in the business.
The reason for the 4-5 inch thickness is because of cracking. Would it not be affordable to suppose that the energy lies with the individual items being so small? Sure, I may even see some cracking within the mortar joints, however that might be easily patched.
Rubber Paver Mildew In Mali
So to avoid having any surprises with color, I strongly suggest that you simply make two take a look at pieces before beginning this stepping stones project. It’s protected to calculate 1 bag per massive 3’ x 2’ diy concrete stepping stone. The are decorative stepping stones and could be made by including mosaic glass or other embeddable supplies. Making my very own concrete stepping stones required much less prep work with the ground as a result of the concrete is self-leveling. So I decided I’d make stepping stones that might appear to be real fieldstone, using concrete after all.
If you have an space with a big concentration of mildew or algae, use the laundry additive undiluted together with your scrub brush. This will kill what is there and can prevent additional development. Now, I obviously realize that Tim is giving the best and soundest recommendation he is aware of, and I additionally understand that I am NOT an expert builder.
A reviewer shares that you simply want eighty lb of cement to make 4 steps and that the mould is easy to use. He highly recommends it to every DIY fan as the best stroll maker. Another reviewer shares that 60 lb of concrete are sufficient to fill the form, and he advises that you spray the stroll maker with Pam every time to attain clean edges.
Since I'm in no rush and have loads of time I would like to hear from someone who has actually tried this technique before. I even have 225sqft I'm going to be putting in pavers on so roughly $500 or so for normal formed pavers. My spouse is wanting completely different designs so if this method is cheaper it might be a great route. Of course, there is a distinction between common concrete paver molds and the poisonous black mildew that we hear about on the information. If you think you could have toxic black mold rising in your paving stones, concrete or bricks, it is best to bring in mould remediation consultants who can safely take away this potential well being hazard. It is, at greatest, an unpleasant nuisance and, at worst, a health hazard.

With the mold sides in place and the entrance latched, seal the corners with paraffin. Determine how a lot concrete to combine by the amount of the mold. After taking up each mildew, you will want to spray the fresh concrete with water whereas it is curing.
A professional contractor informed us that after all of the concrete has set, it is a good idea to do some strain washing on the finished stone patio and apply some semi-transparent stain.
The Walk Maker® can be placed on any relatively flat floor.
Concrete with plasticizers and a excessive stoop may very well have less water than a traditional concrete combine with a low slump.
You wish to take preventative measures to maintain any plaster out of your working clay, so we wanted to maintain this as contained and tidy as possible.
Toward the tip of my stone making, I skipped taping the ends together as a result of the mildew held its shape in part because I was in a position to push some extra pebbles up against the sides.
Technically, the stones will reach their full cure in three-4 weeks- which means their full power. Now you'll use the plastic bag to realize two issues, one is to mix the colors more and the opposite is to create the stone-like texture. Blend these colors into the stone and into each other the best way you might with a watercolor portray. If your pigment is a powder, then mix some water in with it.

Concrete Walkway Path Maker
Test the bleach on a small area earlier than continuing with a full-blown assault on the mould. Don't use muriatic acid; this liquid is just too sturdy and could damage the pavers, Carvalho warns. Wear old clothes and ensure to guard your eyes and face. Plowing and snow blowing are a catastrophe, not to mention the overall look of it. I've at all times been a big fan of stone / cement due to the low upkeep and longevity. Pressure handled lumber just isn't what it use to be anymore. Lay things out on paper, make the cuts you want , stack your blocks where you possibly can reach them, and get to work.
Continue this course of to make as many pavers as you’d like. If you want smaller pavers for sure components of your project, rigorously cut them with a specialty brick saw.

The Nathras
Making the Most out of Life
Tumblr media
Banner art based on and supported by my Patrons ♥
The Nathras are at home by Ivendarea’s north-western shores and islands and one of the more reclusive population groups. Sticking to themselves and feeling a little detached from the events in the south and east of the nation, they are fairly independent, but a warm, creative, and community-oriented people nonetheless. In ancient times the Nathras used to be mostly nomads, but they also had small semi-permanent settlements along the northern shores, one of them developing into the city Westpoint.

Culture and History Isolated in Ivendareas northwest, yet still at the frontier and open to the world, the Nathras make up one of the more unique Ivendarean population groups. Not really fitting in with their own people, still proud of their Nyr heritage, they make the best of any situation and oppurtunity.
Cultural Heritage In ancient times the Nathras were predominantly fishermen. They were also the first to build ships and attempt to set sail to foreign shores (with mixed results). With the spread of Aman’s Teachings and more and more people becoming part of this new religion, the Nathras felt increasingly threatened in their way of life. While embracing any new knowledge, some of the rules proposed by Aman, such as not eating fish and meats, or hunting and fishing for food and leather, the Nathras struggled to adapt without any new means to sustain themselves in the cold north with infertile earth. Groups such as the Wylaai, who also had to deal with a too harsh environment for farming, received and embraced the support of southern communities to artificially create fertile land. The Nathras though were more hesitant to give up on their established way of life.
Until today there are many Nathras who call themselves devout followers of Aman’s Teachings while still continuing their traditional trade of fishing.
Despite their isolation, the Nathras were accidental ambassadors for their whole nation on two occasions. Both the Aapha of Darthonis and the Kitu from far away Drua Shye landed first on their shores. So while they are a little bit detached from the main portion of their continent, they are rather connected to dealings with the outside world and developed into versed traders.
Trade is actually spoken more commonly in Westpoint, the capital of the region, than any other language including Nyrval. Currently Westpoint also calls Ivendarea’s largest trade harbour its own, and to the outside world the Nathras enjoy a reputation of being the most laid-back and open-minded of the Nyr. Language and Dialect The accent of the Nathras is considered “flat” and a little monotonous combined with speaking rather fast. Since most Nathras speak Trade more commonly than Nyrval, elements of both languages are mixed into the other, creating a rather unique colour, sound, and vocabulary.
Shared Values Living conditions in the north are comparatively harsh, with unpredictable cold and storms, therefore it is important to the Nathras communities to be adaptable and keep a watchful eye. Courage is one of the most-taught virtues, and unselfish devotion is the most important service one could offer for the community.
The Nathras have a very relaxed view on life and death. Death is not the end of all things, and sometimes a noble sacrifice is necessary to prevent greater evils from happening. Life on the other hand is meant for joy. While not scared of hard work, a rather laid-back attitude is common in the northern villages.
The Nathras work to live, not the other way around. Also, not many would openly call themselves religious, but subconsciously many of their social conventions are actually tightly connected to the beliefs of the Aman’a Valeethi, and most do believe in the gods. They just don’t make a big deal out of it and don’t tend to pry into other people’s business. Accepting differences in regards to politics and religion is essential to the Nathras, particularly because as a people of traders they often have to deal with travellers and outsiders.
Similar to the Wylaai the Nathras are also known to be rather hospitable, and they enjoy fun and entertainment. Westpoint, the settlement with the highest percentage of Nathras among its population, is home to an arena where people can measure their strength in public battles for the entertainment ofma crowd and some coin. All on a voluntary basis of course.
Common Etiquette As much as the Nathras enjoy being part of a devoted community, they expect everyone within the community to contribute something, even if it is just a symbolic gesture. If everyone helps together to get unpleasant things done, the faster it is possible to devote oneself to the beautiful things in life again. While they have a rather relaxed relationship with death, it is not well-liked to talk ill of the dead. In fact, remembering them in a positive light is very important and if not in the local temple, at least in the deceased’s home a small space or shrine is dedicated to their memory.
Entertainment and hospitality are so important that it is rude to refuse an invitation or gifts. Furthermore, no food or drink should be wasted, it should be shared, re-purposed, or donated, never thrown away. The same goes for basically everything else, too: before throwing it out, consider if it could be of use for someone else or for a different purpose. And should someone unexpectedly gain riches, it is expected of them to invest into the community, not hoard their money.
Major Organizations Less an organization but still one of the major institutions in Westpoint, the Arena is the city’s centre of entertainment. No matter if as a spectator betting on contestants, or by entering the ring oneself, it is also a popular place to earn extra coin without big commitments.
Fashion The Nathras will wear their clothes until they’re literally falling apart - and then they’ll fix them as best as they can, use parts of different articles of clothing to make a new one, or find a new purpose for them. Nathras fashion is rugged and wayward, unconventional at best and questionable sometimes too. Influences from a variety of cultures and eras can be found in everyday clothing, the motto is: do what you like.
While most prefer practical clothing that doesn’t get in the way and is comfortable, there is not much the Nathras would frown upon in terms of colour and material combinations. Compared to most other groups of Nyr across the nation, the Nathras in particular prefer more fitted clothing and trousers over the flowing robes, wide sleeves, and huge scarves seen more often in central, southern, and western Ivendarea. Remarkably they are also the only group that very commonly wears clothing made of animal materials such as leather or bone. They don’t tend to make these clothes from scratch, but if a rich Assadin merchant throws out a still decent leather coat, it is going to be re-purposed and worn rather than wasted.
Tumblr media
A Nathras worker dressed in a colourful mix of clothes from various cultures and second-hand items is wearing body paint and striking piercings. The woollen scarf has seen better days but was decorated with colourful pearls and pebbles found near Westpoint’s shores. The typically Assadin-style riding boots are commonly worn by soldiers and might have been won in the arena. The trousers are a patchwork of different materials, and the warm Aapha coat’s buttons don’t match, but the fur-lining certainly helps against the cold winter winds.
Art & Architecture The Nathras’ architecture is exactly as patchwork as one might think when looking at their clothing. Building materials are rare, everything is reused several times. Stones of crumbling ruins are turned into the foundation of a new family home, the wooden beams of sunken ships are salvaged, cleaned, and thoroughly dried, then used for building furniture. Driftwood is integrated into the buildings as are rocks dug up in fields. Some houses are built directly into the sides of cliffs where possible. There’s no limit to creativity in terms of housing. In Westpoint in particular nautical elements such as rope and even used fishing nets find their way into people’s homes and gardens. An old steering wheel makes an interesting dinner table.
The Nathras are inventive and creative, and they are known to have an eye for design and beauty. Creating jewellery and all sorts of petty wares and haberdashery from whatever they lie their hands on, their markets are a true paradise for everyone looking to spruce up their wardrobe or buy a unique piece of artwork. Known to have patience and a calm hand Nathras also have a reputation of creating particularly intricate and huge mosaics, incorporating them into their buildings and artwork. They find and create beauty in everything.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals Individuality is beauty, as is creativity and devotion to a cause... and all is subjective. Colourful body paint and makeup emphasizing the body’s anatomy - curves, muscles, tendons, and bone structure - are popular. Hair is adorned with little trinkets, natural or glass pearls, worn in braids, decorated or held together with colourful pieces of fabric, or flowing freely. A positive outlook on life, no matter the difficulties, is considered attractive.
Courtship Ideals Courtship is playful and passionate. Fun and experimenting are important, experiencing small adventures together and getting to know each other during those times. Directness is appreciated, as well as creativity in the way one is wooed, bold and brave is better than following strict traditions and social conventions.
Relationship Ideals It is rather unusual for the Nathras to begin living in a committed relationship in young years. Exploration and adventure are important before settling down, otherwise unrest might cause tension in the relationship later on. On-off-relationships are quite common, where couples cross paths several times before finally deciding to settle down together - if at all. Many actually never settle down, have children with several partners if they want them, and continue to live life relatively independently. It is very common among the Nathras that children are raised by several adults, related to them or not, rather than specific parents. The community is one big family that looks after each other, and its needs stand above individual relationships.

Major City
(May have turned that into a plural. Prompt 2 of @thewatchau‘s anniversary prompts)
Each city was different, each had their own history and style.
When Ivy arrived at the Scholar’s College, the first thing that she noticed was the size. The centre was a far cry from the mismatched outskirts, with smaller buildings in varying styles. The centre was a bit more uniform, white buildings with columns at the front, red tiles on the roof.
The centre was easily the most extravagant place she’d seen, and she rarely left it. Didn’t really need to if she was honest.
It was strange though, being in the centre meant she was close to the three main Districts. She was in the Academic District, while just across the road was the Medical District, where her brother was studying. Finally, to the side of both of them, was the Merchant’s District, which housed the docks.
Some of the buildings by the docks were a bit dilapidated, not bad, since this was the first place foreigners saw, but not necessarily as well cared for as Guild hubs and the rich family homes of the centre.
The aspiring sailors were usually there, waiting for a ship to have an opening so they could leave Duilintinn behind. It was understandable, sometimes Duilintinn felt small, or dangerous.
In contrast to Fionport, Monacoil was a crazy city. She had arrived in the Government District first to prove she had arrived, and that was the most like Fionport, although still had a mix of the old Feadhainn architecture. So for every one white wall red tiled building, was another stone tower looking like a series of rings stacked on top of each other. It also had one other building that Fionport didn’t have; a giant tower in the centre of the whole city. The view from up there had to be really something.
She and Irnas spent most of their time in the Mage’s District, which mostly had the Feadhainn architecture. There were some exceptions, like Irnas’s house which was cramped between two Feadhainn towers, but for the most part the buildings were uniform.
The Lake district was where it got interesting. Like the rest of Monacoil the streets were winding and un-organised, unlike the rest they were also crowded. People crossing Loch Glas came here, and the Inventors Guild was stationed here as well. So the whole place pumped steam and had weird and wonderful objects haphazardly thrown around.
It was very easy to get lost there.
The only District that was easier to get lost in was the Forest District, which she only went to once. You had be careful where you stepped, as Feadhainn buildings stood side by side with the swamp, with bridges and planked walkways serving as streets.
Noefrach was in the middle of construction when she arrived in January. She and Hazel got stuck in a jam on the ramps, giving Ivy plenty of time to see the dam and the scaffolding for new buildings going up at a rate of knots.
Stalls lined the ramps as they crawled their way to the city centre, and time passed quickly as Hazel talked to the stall holders.
Once off the ramps and over the bridge they found themselves in the city centre, an enormous courtyard, the middle open to the sky with all the major buildings here, as well as several sunken amphitheatres.
The city was organised like Fionport, grid like and logical. However, it was cosier than Fionport, and the strong smell of salt was replaced by the equally strong smell of damp moss.
The street Hazel’s house was in was still being built, but it would probably look like the rest of Noefrach. Timber and stone houses with awnings that almost met in the middle of the street, protecting them from the worst of the perpetual rain.
Candles lined the streets, making it easier to see in the enforced gloom and low natural light, and the whole place felt, cosy. Something Fionport and Monacoil thoroughly missed.
The colour was also something to behold. The other cities had been fairly dull so far, but here was the home of artists, and is showed. Murals decorated walls and some had mosaics of pebbles decorating their house. They managed to light up the gloom like no candle ever could.
Ivy barely touched Mulladún while in House Jackie, her visit there would come later. Aghaboy on the other hand, she did pass through.
She had to hitch a ride with traders heading to the city, and the best way she could describe it was, a less fancy, blocky version of Fionport.
The centre clearly had a grid system, and there was a stone wall, marking old city boundaries. Naturally the city had grown beyond both of those constraints.
It’s history as an old trade centre could be seen if you squint. She half remembered from school that Aghaboy used to be mostly warehouses, which had been adapted into shops and houses, and decorated for some of the richer inhabitants.
She got dropped off at the centre, and although she needed to head north, over the Pa’Gille river, she headed west instead. If she remembered correctly she’d eventually come across one of the Farming Guild’s hubs. She could easily go to the east one as well, although felt there was little point going to either of the southern ones, that felt like backtracking.
Thankfully, there was someone going to Slinad, and she hitched with them. They passed the hub of the Ocean Men along the way, which looked like a small Feadhainn style building, standing at the edge of Aghaboy. It didn’t look that active, but it disappeared among the other buildings, and they were on their way.
Ivy never stepped foot in Mulladún until much later, long after she had finished her apprenticeship in House Jackie.
You could hardly miss the city, in fact you could see it from Arcath. It looked like a bunch of amphitheatres stacked on top of each other, getting increasingly smaller until you reach the top. It was like the whole city embodied the Feadhainn style of building, which was rather accurate as Ivy learned. It was an ancient city after all.
She led Firefly up the steps, passing homes shops and markets on the first two levels, with archery points along the walls. The whole city was designed for archers to shoot down at an invading force. None of the buildings were taller than two or three stories, so either archers, or more buildings could stand on top of them.
Naturally, the Guard Coalition’s hub was almost at the very top, not quite in the centre, but close enough. By the time the two of them got up there, Ivy was no longer paying attention to the architecture. She was just glad she didn’t’ have to climb any more bloody stairs!
(Also a bit retrospective, so no date as such. I can tell you that she arrived in Fionport Jan 1602, Monacoil July 1602, Noefrach Jan 1603, Aghaboy Jan 1604, and Mulladún Nov 1606)

The growth crisis of Jupiter explained
Astronomy - Astrophysics logo. August 27, 2018 For two million years, the largest planet in our system has grown slowly. We know today the cause.
The growth of Jupiter has gone through several distinct phases
Image above: This true color mosaic of Jupiter was constructed from images taken by the narrow angle camera onboard NASA's Cassini spacecraft on December 29, 2000, during its closest approach to the giant planet at a distance of approximately 10 million kilometers (6.2 million miles). Image Credits: NASA/JPL/Space Science Institute. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, but for a while it has had growth problems. Swiss researchers have clarified this mystery, announced Monday the University of Bern in a statement. For two million years, Jupiter grew slowly, according to studies on meteorites. A phenomenon that astronomers from the Universities of Berne and Zurich and ETH Zurich have tried to understand. Using a new model, they traced the origin of the gas giant and solved the mystery.
Animation above: Time-lapse sequence from the approach of Voyager 1, showing the motion of atmospheric bands and circulation of the Great Red Spot. Recorded over 32 days with one photograph taken every 10 hours (once per Jovian day). Animation Credit: NASA. "We were able to show that Jupiter has grown through different phases," says Julia Venturini from the University of Zurich, which summarizes the results she and her colleagues have published in the journal Nature Astronomy. During these phases, the mass of Jupiter did not develop uniformly. Less growth, more energy In the beginning, the planet embryo collected small pebbles of only a few centimeters and rapidly formed a planetary nucleus during the first million years, explains the University of Bern. In the second phase, during the next two million years, the growth of the planet has progressed more slowly. Collisions with one-kilometer diameter blocks then only slowly added more mass, but provided a lot of energy, which was even more important.
Animation above: Asteroid Impact on Jupiter on March 17, 2016 by amateur Austrian astronomer. This is not the first time we’ve seen Jupiter get struck by an object. Back in 1994 it was hit by cometary fragments from Shoemaker-Levy 9, and again in 2010 and 2012. Collisions with these blocks released heat. This heat warmed the gaseous atmosphere of the young planet, preventing rapid cooling, contraction and further enrichment of the gas. This explains the relatively long time that Jupiter spent in the mass phase from 15 to 50 times that of the Earth, as the researchers explain. It was not until the third phase that the gases finally accumulated and made Jupiter a gaseous giant about 300 times the mass of the earth and about 143'000 kilometers in diameter. Jupiter as a barrier The study was inspired by new data on meteorites, says the University of Bern. These showed that the young solar system, while still a disk of dust and gas, was divided into two regions. Jupiter then served as a barrier of separation between the two.
Animation above: How Jupiter protects Earth from asteroids. Animation Credit: Petr Scheirich. For two million years, when Jupiter went from 20 to 50 times the mass of earth, she apparently disrupted the dust disk and had to create a seal. Materials outside its orbit could not mix with those inside its orbit. This separation lasted until Jupiter reached a mass sufficient to deflect the rock and disperse it into the inner regions of the solar system. Can't You See It's We Who Own The Night?
Read On AO3 / Inspired by Bastille’s We Can’t Stop and @noel-ish ’s paintings
Hajime doesn’t want to be here. He hates parties. All kinds of parties.
And this one seems like the party of a cult, he is currently crashing.
But he may be here for the free alcohol. After all he’s seventeen and broke.
They are all nearly dressed the same: Black clothes. At least one piece they are wearing is black. All of them fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.
And Hajime fits in just fine.
He knows that no one recognizes him, they know that this is the first time he’s here. But there are no vicious glances or hushed whispers. They smile at him, and maybe he’s crazy, but it seems supportive in a way.
No special decorations, no lights glistening between trees. Just an old cabin that looks like it was built by five year olds has fairy lights around it, so even the drunkest people can find it, and a campfire in front of it. There’s also a lake and Hajime doubts it’s a good idea to bring dozens of drunk people here.
Someone sneaks up to him, pushes a red cup with god knows what into his hand, and disappears into the darkness again.
Rationality screams at him to just put it down, but curiosity tackles it and rips it apart.
He raises the cup to smell on the liquor and the biting in his nose can’t mean anything other than that it’s vodka with orange juice. Lots of vodka, judging by the after burn in his nose.
He takes a sip and immediately twists his face up. It’s disgusting.
He takes another sip.
The last rays of the sun dance through the leaves and twigs of the trees, dimming everything in a bronze hue.
He wanders around, maybe seeming a little lost. Watches people interact with one another, dance, talk, flirt. Every once in a while he takes another sip.
He breathes the fresh air in and is more than lucky to be able to not breath polluted city air for once.
The lake is a mesmerizing picture. Lights dancing over small waves caused by the breeze that’s also combing through his hair. It’s like a loving embrace. He closes his eyes and just takes everything in until he feels like falling to the side, even though he’s standing upright.
How much did he drink already?
Bees are swarming through his head, threatening to break out through his ears. The loud music coming from seemingly all around him only makes matters worse.
Too eccentric, too fast, too many beat drops.
He needs far more alcohol to start indulging this.
A simple question pops up in his head and the bees all die.
Why am I even here?
There’s a simple answer too.
Because Kuroo said this is a place for “people like them”.
Hajime doesn’t know what he means by that, but he’s too curious to pass the chance of finding out.
Now, he stands in the middle of a party where the first people are already passed out and Hajime doesn’t know what to do with himself.
He traces the rings on the cup he’s holding while watching the scenery.
It’s like a huge orgy. Kissing people are everywhere. Some look like they are about to have sex right on spot to third. Or maybe even more.
What is this place?
The sun isn’t even fully down and people are already passed out, jumping each other like rabid animals.
What did Kuroo get him into?
Hajime spins around, finally having a mission, something to do: He needs to find the fucker.
He graces the spit exchanging people with one last look and just hopes he won’t find Kuroo in a situation like this. He scrunches his face up at the pure thought.
Kuroo is a private person, maybe he’s hiding somewhere around the lake? But Kuroo is also like a cat and tries his best to get as far away from water as possible.
Hajime once called him hydrophobe. Kuroo didn’t even deny, he just kept smiling into the sun.
So he has to be in the cabin.
Slowly, and already a little unsteady, he wanks over the pebbles guiding the way. The crunching sound beneath his feet seems louder than anything else.
He passes people he’s never seen in his whole life. Moving their bodies to the rhythm of what they consider music. Hazey, dorky smiles are plasterer onto their faces. Hajime can sense that their heads are currently filled with cotton. They don’t have a single care. He can see it in the glistening honesty behind their eyes.
He’s jalouse.
Shaking his head, as if he wouldn’t do the same if he could, he continues his way towards the wooden building that’s looking like it’s straight out of a horror movie. Or at least a thriller.
He can already hear the screams of the teenagers that just wanted to have a good time, but instead got a butcher knife in their guts.
Hajime can see that it was small, maybe 10cm², at first. But someone started to care for the thing. There are so many different kinds of wood nailed to the base cabin. Hajime didn’t even know there were so many kinds of trees. Every plank reflects the fairy lights differently and it’s a beautiful, maybe a little askew, mosaic.
Now he can see why people want to come here.
He walks up the wooden stairs, already bent from all kinds of people stepping onto them. The door is wide open and even in there are people rummaging around.
Hajime just sees strands of black, denying gravity, towering over everyone else and yes, he found Kuroo.
Making his way through the crowd is harder than it seems. He got groped approximately four times, be it on purpose or not, he doesn’t know, slapped or somehow beaten six times and got drinks spilled over himself maybe nine times. By the time he reaches Kuroo he just wants to turn around again and go home.
That was enough physical contact for a year.
“I knew you would come,” Kuroo mentions with a shady smile Hajime just wants to punch it off his face. Kuroo makes a leap and slides gracefully over the countertop, he’s been standing behind mere seconds ago.
He throws a limb arm around Hajime and leans in. His hot breath tickling the hairs in Hajime’s nape, “people always come for me.”
He states and leans out of Hajime’s reach, knowing he would get punched otherwise.
“You wish,” is all Hajime has to offer before shrugging the tallers arm off, “I should have known my drink came from you. No one mixes vodka and orange juice like you do.”
With trained movements, Kuroo jerks away from him, reaches over the counter top and pulls something over.
It’s another cup filled with whatever Kuroo thought would be funny. Hajime can feel his scowl starting to carve itself into his skin.
Kuroo just wiggles the drink in front of his face and Hajime takes it begrudgingly. That’s the reason he came for, after all.
He tastes it and it’s not as bad as the vodka with orange juice before. Hajime just shrugs, maybe Kuroo isn’t that bad at being a bartender as he assumed firstly.
“Why did you even want me to come? This seems like an exclusive place,” he asks Kuroo after they managed to get out of the cabin again.
The shift in the air causes Hajime to take a deep breath, get some oxygen into his blood again. His head isn’t spinning, he doesn’t see double and walking isn’t a problem. Great.
Kuroo just nods curtly, his expression not giving anything away as his eyes roam over the lake, which now has torches around it, Hajime still doesn’t think that’s safer, but ok.
“You can’t get into here if you aren’t invited, and you need someone to watch over you. As you see, I’m not doing a great job at that.”
Kuroo’s cheshire grin is back being plastered onto his face. God, how Hajime hates it.
“Again, why am I here?”
They are wandering, seemingly, aimlessly around.
But they come to a halt beside an old oak tree, Kuroo leans leisurely against it and watches everything with a knowing smirk.
Hajime is plainly confused. A crowd of people is gathered behind the campfire, waiting anticipated for something.
His first thought is, that they are going to sacrifice a lamb or something. It does look like the meeting place of a cult here after all, sue him.
There is one thing that grasps attention like nothing else, silence.
The music turns out and the only things you can hear is the crackling of the campfire and the buzzing of bugs searching for light.
Hajime has no idea what is going on, but even he feels anticipation crawling under his skin like ants.
And then it starts.
Low accords are being played on a guitar, monotonously repeating themselves and then someone starts singing.
“Red cups and sweaty bodies everywhere.”
Fitting, is all Hajime can think of and he recognizes what they are covering.
Miley Cyrus’ We Can’t Stop.
A chorus of “hell, no” echoes through the woods as if everyone was prepared for the song.
Hajime is a fan of Rock, Metal maybe Hip Hop, but Miley Cyrus? That’s taking it a bit too far. Just as he wants to start complaining to Kuroo about it, he really listens.
There is so much emotions layered in, Hajime guesses his, voice and it’s drowning out everything around him, holding him in a vice grip. Layers of delight with some dread under it.
Everyone knows he means what he sings. It’s not just covering a song and being good at that. It’s feeling a song and sharing it with others.
The atmosphere is perfect. The song being accompanied by the crackling of the fire and the silhouettes of the trees and the faint light creeping on the ground are plainly perfect.
The hook starts to kick in and Hajime is sure he’s never heard anything more beautiful.
He wants to see him.
From the corner of his eye, he glances at Kuroo who’s already staring at him for who knows how long. He just nods smiling and Hajime leaps off. He must look like a child on christmas morning.
With elbows and “sorries” he fights his way through the crowd until he’s in front of him.
A boy, most likely his age, is sitting in front of him on a huge log that has the same color as the tufts of curls framing his face.
Hajime watches intently how emotions flicker over his perfect features, being accented by faint fairy lights.
He’s beautiful. Plainly, beautiful. Hajime lacks the words to describe exactly why, but he thinks he would be a god in greece.
An old guitar is resting on his lap. It looks like a really old model, one that isn’t being produced anymore. Delicate fingers dance over the strings, tugging at one after the other and Hajime doesn’t understand music anymore.
He notices the hint of a smile pulling at the corner of the singers mouth every time he’s at the end of the refrain again.
People around him are just swaying to the music, many of them have their eyes closed. Most of them are too drunk to do anything other after all.
Hajime notices that some of the passed out people are conscious again and started mingling with the group.
Music is magic after all.
The stranger opens one eye, looking directly at Hajime who is just stunned. He can feel the heat in his cheeks from either the alcohol or him and his heart rate speeds up.
Fires are flashing behind his eyes, seemingly dancing to the song. Hajime just wants to know which color they have or if there are always flames frolicking in them.
The song ends with low vocals full of ups and downs. It sounds emotionally drained. Everyone erupts in cheers and clapping. Hajime, of course too stunned to function, only stares.
The singer manages to let an actual happy party song sound like one of the saddest, most desperate songs ever.
Like a genius of sadness.
He smiles at Hajime, brighter than the fire behind them. Then he starts packing his guitar away.
That’s when drunk people start slurring words in protest. The guitarist just smiles and puts the instrument back into the coffin.
“Come on T. One more,” someone from the back shouts.
T. That’s a starting point.
“I’m sorry, guys. But you know that it’s always just one song.”
His words drip out of his mouth like honey and his voice nothing like the one he has when he sings. But it’s touching him all the same.
Again, roars of protest echo through the woods, but slowly everyone starts to scatter around again until there’s just Hajime left and the cackling of the fire.
“What are you waiting for?” T asks, his head askew and curiosity barely caged in his already huge eyes.
They are brown like a dying sun, melted chocolate and like caramel. Hajime doesn’t understand how his eyes can be all of the above, but it’s true.
“For you, I guess,” Hajime answers bluntly without overthinking. He blames the alcohol.
T’s eyes widen even wider and there’s a spark flashing up in them. Then his expression shifts to something Hajime can just describe as cautious.
“Why?” his eyebrows are furrowed, his lower lip sticking out as he scanns Hajime with sharp eyes.
Hajime knows this trick. He’s playing cute and innocent when in reality he’s analysing you, making a profile of you the FBI couldn’t nail any better.
Hajime shrugs,“You’re interesting.”
“Follow me,” he answers and all caution has vanished from his features.
T picks his coffin up and wants to throw it over his shoulder, but Hajime stops him and takes it himself, willing to carry it.
T just stares at him for a minute before smiling and bowing down, slinging his backpack over his shoulder and picking up some green old blankets that have a chance of being older than both of them added up. Hajime hasn’t even noticed them before. The world could have ended, he wouldn’t have noticed.
They wander off into the direction of the lake. On their way, T often stops them in their tracks to stride over to the passed out people. He takes one of the fuzzy blankets and wraps them into it. Lastly, he takes a bottle of water out of his backpack and lays one down beside them.
He’s doing it with a sad smile and something in Hajime clicks.
“Since when do you throw these parties?” he asks into the night.
He humms.
“A long time. Two years maybe? Every month I throw one. But they haven’t been like that in the beginning. We all grew up.”
T looks lost. He’s just skimming through the knee high grass while the moonlight illuminates his most prominent features, letting him seem like straight out of a movie.
And Hajime realizes that he doesn’t look lost at all. He’s just enjoying the moment. The weeds tickling his skin, the moonlight in his eyes and the breeze rushing around him.
As it seems, T does have a plan. There’s a huge sheet strained between two trees, a hammock. T shrugs his backpack off and takes the coffin from Hajime. He lays it down and opens it, carefully taking his guitar out.
Like a child he throws himself onto the sheet, leaving it to swing between the trees. Lazily, he tugs at the strings while looking at Hajime with a gaze that says everything.
He moves towards the sheet and climbs up, laying down beside T.
Physics does it’s job and pushes them closer to each other so they are side pressed to side. Hajime doesn’t complain.
When he looks up to the sky, leaves and twigs prevent him from seeing the stars. But there is a hole in the whole complexity through which moonlight shines through and you can see the stars perfectly. It’s beautiful, but Hajime can’t keep himself from staring at T.
“Why are you doing all this?” he asks carefully.
T stops pulling at the strings.
For a moment everything is silent. There is just the faint sound of cicadas. He hears T taking a deep breath before answering.
“So people like me have at least one night every month where they don’t have to be afraid of being who they are, one night where they won’t feel alone. This is a place for forgotten children.”
Hajime just stares at the stars, at the leaves silently swaying in the night breeze.
“I have a bad relationship with my father. He’s just as hurt as me. Sometimes I just feel invisible,” T states while raking his arm towards the sky. He musters hid hand with the spread fingers as if expecting the moonlight would plainly shine through him, as if he slowly starts to really believe he’s transparent.
Hajime is a little lost in thoughts, but so glad that T is opening up to him. He should be fair then.
“I know that feeling. My parents don’t care for what I want, they just want me to take over the family firm and get frustrated and cold as my father. This job will kill me.”
T looks at him sadly and Hajime can see the gears in his head moving, how he tries to jump to another topic that’s not so sad.
“The cabin,” T starts, “I got the cabin from my grandfather. He was also the one who taught me how to play instruments and inherited me the guitar,” there’s a fond smile twirling around his lips when he speaks of his grandfather. Hajime notices how he absentmindedly strokes the guitar, “he’s already with my mother.”
Hajime wouldn’t have understood what he meant without the bitter undertone in his voice.
“They would be proud of you. You are doing a good thing here, watching over everyone.”
T smiles and looks at him, a silent “thank you” written in his eyes.
Hajime smiles too. There is a weird inner urge that wants to know more about this boy.
“What’s your name?”
T looks at him as if he asked him what color his hair is. As if it’s the most obvious thing. Hajime rolls his eyes, “I mean your real name. And not just the first letter or whatever.”
“Why would you want to know?” he asks while getting up and embedding the guitar back into the coffin.
This time he crawls cautiously onto the hammock. He’s balancing on all fours, his face hanging a few inches over Hajime’s. The moonlight lights up the back of his head, letting him seem like a celestial creature and Hajime can’t resist. He raises an arm and buries his hand in the brown tufts that are as soft as they seem.
T jerks back a little only to find his composure again and lean into the touch, closing his eyes.
Wind blows through the leaves, through their hair, playing their own melodie to which the world sways.
He opens his eyes again, they are heavily lidded and Hajime has truly never seen something as beautiful as him.
“Tooru,” he whispers while coming closer.
“That’s a beautiful name, don’t hide it,” Hajime says smiling brightly and Tooru does so too.
“Hajime,” he hushes out before their lips meet.
Tooru is now grasping the collar of Hajime’s jacket, desperately trying to pull him closer.
The kiss feels like coming home, as if Hajime just found a part of himself he has lost years ago without noticing, because he has adjusted to the gaping hole inside of him.
They separate and Tooru is glowing down at him and Hajime knows he’s thinking the same.
He may glow too, but it’s not as bright as Tooru. Nothing can reach up to him.
They kiss again,
and again,
and again until the first rays of sunlight filter through Tooru’s hair, letting his eyes glisten like burning embers.
