I’m so sad that we didn’t get five or six seasons of slow-burn Jenry goodness. Because let’s be real, Henry’s secret was probably the smallest obstacle that stood between them.

You also had Jo’s grief. She wasn’t done grieving for Sean yet, not even close. She wouldn’t have been ready to move on for a long time.

Then you had Henry’s grief over Abigail, which was all brought to the surface in the penultimate episode. It would have taken him a while to really move past that.

And even if he had, he still had that terrible fear of letting anyone get that close again, become that important to him. Both because he couldn’t take the pain of losing them and because he couldn’t stand to see someone he loved hurt the way it hurt Abigail to be with him in their last years together.

It just hurts so much that we didn’t get to see all of that because it would have been so brilliant.

Oddly enough, a woman flirting over a dead body makes me almost instantly like her. Of course, I’ve only ever encountered this in fiction, but still. Love it. Is that a shade of weird that comes with watching too many crime shows or is that just me?
