There are some sub categories to that, but that’s the general gist. (I should know this better, I had law classes about this at uni but they were at 8am 😭.)
You can file these registrations as either an individual or a registered company, and again there are a several ways to register a company and in this case that gets extra complicated, because while the wordmark/trademark thing is mostly EU law, the company registrations differ by country, so in this particular case you would have to find a version that works in both sweden and germany.
From looking at the imprints, I get the impression that “Lindemann” is registered with Rammstein GbR. A GbR is a version of a company, that is meant for real people working together for profit, and where the individuals are still viable personally for any losses, as opposed to a GmBH. This is actually interesting, because a GbR isn’t allowed to make more than 250.000 € a year in revenue. My guess is that this is their “heart” business, the thing that concentrates copyrights, the stuff from actual music sales, etc, because while this form of company holds you more responsible, it also isn’t subjected to the same level of disassembly in case of bankruptcy. The same thing works the other way around: If Peter wanted to play a Lindemann song on stage, half of that belongs to Till because he wrote the lyrics. He could still use that tho, granted if he paied Till his revenue. Sometimes people not agreeing about this part and how much the “using fee” should be leads to songs just not being played anymore, but the theory of it is fairly simple. He couldn’t probably go on stage with the same name as an act anymore tho, because that indeed seems to belong to Till, aka: he could play Lindemann songs with Pain, but he can’t call himslef Lindemann and just play Pain songs.
