Not to be condescending or validate the existence of philosophy majors, but
Every time I see someone raging against the sentiment of What Makes Someone Human or Importance Of LoveTM, I see a person who hasn't realized they're entering a several-millennia-old forum thread full of very angry people with extensive citations and should read more before being expected to be taken seriously in a debate about the state of the human condition <3

A BioWare Guide on How to Murder a Fanbase
I have been a Dragon Age super-fan for almost fourteen years, now. I have played every game, with every DLC. I have read every novel, lore book, and every comic — yes, even the terrible ones that are better off forgotten. I have seen the anime film, the animated series, and the web mini-series. I have enjoyed all of these pieces of the franchise over and over, more times than I can count. So, make no mistake: the negativity you’re about to hear comes from a place of love for this fantasy world, developed by many creative people over the years. I would love nothing more than to see the resurrection of passion in the Dragon Age fandom again. But the unfortunate truth is, that resurrection is only needed because BioWare took the fandom out back and shot it in the first place.
In December 2018, three years after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Trespasser epilogue DLC, BioWare first announced the then-untitled next Dragon Age game with a teaser trailer. At this point, most fans were anticipating this would mean within the next couple years, we would see the game. This assumption was based on the fact that Dragon Age: Inquisition was first announced in 2012, and released in 2014, with an extra year of development added last minute.
There have been dribbles of extra content since then, adding to the franchise. This was enough to keep some fans still breathing and interested. 2020’s Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights was a lovely anthology. 2020’s Dragon Age: Blue Wraith and 2021’s Dark Fortress were wonderful comics tying up the story started in Knight Errant. And 2022’s Dragon Age: Absolution was a well-animated series with an interesting cast of characters and story. But all these still left the fandom with a major question: What was going on with the next game? It was untypical of BioWare to be so secretive, in comparison to how they handled sharing information of the past games in the franchise. The only form of updates fans still have to go on is mostly just concept art and short stories, hinting that something must be in production. But why was the wait so long?
In 2015, the first version of the next Dragon Age began with a clear vision, clear scope of practice, and a reportedly happy developer team. Most gloriously in my book, there was no multi-player… but this did not align with the Electronic Arts typical money-mad schemes. EA’s push for “games as a service” meant they wanted to monetize all their games as much as possible, and therefore, they wanted them to be a live service — as Anthem demonstrated, that meant sacrificing things that are staples of good RPGs, like narrative and character choice. So in 2017, version one of the next Dragon Age was scrapped and replaced. This new version would have, in total or to at least some degree, an online portion of play.
There is one part of Schreier’s article, “The Past and Present of Dragon Age 4,” that really sticks out to me, regarding this:
“One person close to the game told me this week that Morrison’s critical path, or main story, would be designed for single-player and that goal of the multiplayer elements would be to keep people engaged so that they would actually stick with post-launch content.”
The idea of splitting up components of a game into single-player and multi-player is a terrible idea, because it means that there would be a large bulk of content only accessible through online gaming; something many fans, like myself, are repulsed by. Even if I did enjoy it, I spent most of my life growing up with either no internet or shoddy internet incapable of playing online games. I know many rural people who are still in that position, losing more and more of their favourite gaming pastimes because they are locked out of the ability to play them. It is a disservice to hide content behind a wall like this, especially in a world that is so lore-heavy like Dragon Age. The news of multi-player in Dragon Age understandably upset many, and this is when I first noticed a large drop off in excitement over the next game.
However, in 2021, the failure of Anthem (multi-player) and success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (single-player) led the executives at EA to bend to the wishes of BioWare leadership and allow them to go back to the drawing board yet again on the next Dragon Age. This meant removing all multi-player content!
While I am very happy that there will reportedly be no multi-player in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, I can’t help but feel bitter and a little disgusted over the ridiculous development time spent on something no one but EA wanted in the first place. If it weren’t for this foolishness, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would be in our hands right now. Instead, it’s been in development hell for nearly nine years and counting. Nine years is a long time to expect fans to carry a torch for you through radio silence, but it’s no wonder BioWare has shared barely anything about the next game; it’s been in flux for so long, they likely haven’t had anything concrete to show.
BioWare hurt its reputation even more when the news broke that the studio very suddenly laid off 50 people who were working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. This is pretty damning on its own, but BioWare took it a step further. Former developer Jon Renish shared a statement revealing that the studio was only willing to offer laid-off employees two weeks of severance per year of service, and denied health benefits. The denial of health benefits in particular is a pretty wild move for a studio with a reputation for “stress casualties”. The latest news on this is that BioWare has still so far refused to negotiate better severance packages, leading to a lawsuit. The lawsuit originally had 15 former employees, but this dropped due to the fear of not being able to afford to pay their bills. So now, while EA sits on $400 million net income, the laid-off employees are struggling to buy holiday presents for their children. These horrid business practices are not to be ignored when accounting for a lack of faith in a studio. What kind of monsters reward workers who make your games special with vaguely reasoned lay-offs?
The latest news on the Dragon Age: Dreadwolf front from BioWare came early this month, December 2023, with a trailer… announcing a trailer that will come next summer… that will announce the release of the game. Supposedly. Maybe. We’ll see. But by this time, BioWare is something of a laughing stock of their own fandom. Reactions to the video released with a pretty map graphic and a few rendered locations were, from what I personally observed, mostly sardonic in nature. People have commented on the vapourware nature of the game, and like all vapourware, that leads to disintegrating trust.
Despite all this, people like Mary Kirby, (one of the veteran Dragon Age writers who was a victim of the layoffs,) said, “it’s bittersweet that Dreadwolf is my last DA game, but I still hope you all love it as much as I do,” encouraging fans to still support the game when it eventually is released. But after every misstep BioWare has taken, that’s a tough sell now. Fans are finicky, RPG fans more so than others, one could argue. We have our favourites, and many of us stick to those favourites for life over our appreciation for the artistry — but that relationship between studio and fan should go both ways. EA and BioWare has betrayed that relationship, and it will take a hell of a lot to build it back up again, now.

Backstory
You and Joe defied all odds as high school sweethearts. It was the basic story; you were on the cheer team while he was the quarterback of the football team. Everyone around you said it wouldn’t last, and once Joe was committed to Ohio State you started questioning if your relationship would last as well.
Even with Joe in Columbus and you in Athens completing your senior year of high school, it was you two against the world. You FaceTime’d every chance you got and it seemed that long distance brought you two closer. When Joe transferred to LSU and was taking all online classes, it was a lot easier for you two to have time together.
It wasn’t long till Joe was back in Ohio with the Bengals, you seriously couldn’t be any more proud of him than you were when he was the #1 pick of the draft.
In 2022 when the team won the AFC Championship, Joe surprised you with a quick drive down to Athens where he would propose to you in the most romantic way possible. You both celebrated the engagement with your families around you.
That offseason started when the team lost the Super Bowl and though Joe was devastated, he couldn’t be too sad knowing that he was marrying his best friend that offseason.
Just right before the next season started you found out you were pregnant, and you and Joe were ecstatic. You’d soon find out that you were expecting twins.
These Imagines follow you and Joe through the NFL, parenthood, and living the best life possible.

Yes, people, you did just see another conversion of that loveseat and chair by @megamassikalove a couple days ago. I converted them, put them in my game to take previews later, went online and found them converted HERE by them. So, since I made them, I'm uploading them. What's the diff you may ask??? I did not use the Sims 4 textures on mine - I made them with leather textures. And the shadows - theirs uses Lord Crump's s4 shadow file, I made shadows for them. Mine has one subset, MML's has two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two pics show megamassikalove's meshes with my recolors. I've, also, got a 4to2 conversion of omgcoffinfit's Wendy Morrison rugs (pt2.) I converted the rug since I wasn't feeling like cropping and pasting all the textures onto another mesh. There's 29 recolors to go with the 4x3 rug mesh. Swatches included.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just a quick pic there to show you the difference between the two meshes. I made a few recolors for MML's table conversion, too. Below is a swatch of the rugs.
Tumblr media
On to the downloads:
Wendy Morrison Rugs Download
Lovestruck Seating Download (mine)
Recolors of MML's set Download
If you'd like some recoloring resources, HERE are the s4 textures if you'd like to use them on my mesh and HERE are multi's and uv's for making your own recolors for either set.

i want to get into xmen but idk hwo :(
Great! There are a few ways to start reading X-Men, so I'm gonna go through a bunch of them.
Start with Giant-sized X-Men #1. X-Men had a run in the 60s that was canceled, and Giant-sized is the beginning of the 70s relaunch. Most of what you'd know from popular osmosis of the X-Men is going to come from this era from '75-'90, and it's mostly written by one writer, Chris Claremont. It's a great era, if sometimes of-it's-time. You can see it transition from a fun villain-of-the-week comic to one of the most iconic comics of all time.
After Dark Phoenix Saga. DPS was a really big event that brought in a bunch of people, so immediately after there was a comic that basically summarized everything prior to that. This is still in the Claremont era, but Dark Phoenix is really the turning point where it becomes the iconic 80s X-Men that people think of. Good place to start mid-Claremont-run.
Grab any classic collection from your library. Your local library will probably have collections of either events or just large chunks of the run. In the 80s, comics were sold at newsstands/spinner racks, so every comic was assumed to be someone's first, and any information you needed to know was pretty clearly exposited. The big events include Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past, Mutant Massacre, and Fall of the Mutants. Inferno and X-Tinction Agenda are really good too, but require a little more context.
Choose a student team. Every once and a while, X-Men will introduce a new crop of students. The books tend to be self-contained and focused on just that group. The big generations are New Mutants ('80s), Generation X ('90s), and Academy X (2000s). The first two are in books of the same name, but Academy X goes across two books--New Mutants Vol 2 and New X-Men Volume 2: Academy X. New Mutants is my personal favorite, followed by Generation X.
New X-Men. New X-Men was launched right after the movies brought in a lot of new fans, so it's friendly to new readers. At the same time, it's written by Grant Morrison, so it's some weird mystic wizard shit. The only thing you need to know is that Magneto took over a country called Genosha and Cyclops is traumatized through recent comic events (the details don't matter).
Krakoa era. Five years ago X-Men had a soft relaunch where mutants establish a nation on the living island of Krakoa. There are a bunch of books in this era, and are fairly cohesive, with lots of crossover between them. Luckily, the first era of books are collected in trade paperback as "Dawn of X." It's recent enough that your local library will probably have it. The reading order is House of X/Powers of X, Dawn of X 1-15, and X of Swords and then you can find the reading order going forward online. There are a lot of really good comics in this era.
Now! The Krakoa era just ended, and the new era going forward is less cohesive, so you can pick a comic you like and read just that! A bunch of new books just launched, so find a book with some characters you like. Gail Simone's Uncanny X-Men has a lot of fan favorites--Nightcrawler, Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee, and Wolverine. Just pick any that look good!
In general a good rule for getting into comics for the first time is that there will always be something that it's referencing that you might not have read, and that's fine. Most comics will explain what you need to know, and you should just roll with the rest.

#1, #3 and #22 for the ask game? 😊
Who's your favourite character and why?
this may surprise some members of the audience because i keep it on the dl but my favourite character is dickchard "dick" grayson and he has been my favourite character since i pirated the batman 2004 instead of doing history homework. many many reasons i like him - i have a lot of affection for characters that are fundamentally kind despite carrying such a heavy burden. the kind of person to give everyone a chance. someone who perseveres despite the odds, and inspires others to do the same. the first in a long legacy - a character that changed how comics were written. bruce was only alone for nine issues before dick was introduced! he's so important to the fabric of what a superhero is and can be.
i am also an eldest child. interpret that how u will.
3. Who's your favorite comics hero/sidekick duo?
dick + damian are an all time classic because they were the first proper batman and robin duo that i read when i was getting into comics. the thematic layers! the breaking of cycles! the father-brother-sonisms! trying desperately to ignore grant morrisons racist everything!
i also love dick + rose wilson, bruce + cass, babs + charlie, and ollie + mia
22. Any comics you're looking forward to?
im both intrigued by and dreading the new red hood limited series because best case scenario we'll get; good jason writing, competent narrative storytelling, and zero (0) mentions of him being friends with roy harper. worst case scenario its like arkham knight and online discourse becomes just unbearable for its entire duration.

Getting an early (late?) start!
This week I completed the Herculean feat of finishing Chapter 19 of Rule Britannia! Ive since been brain dead. So here are some sentences that are not spoilery and are instead, possibly a little misleading about what this chapter ended up being!
Henry’s loving smile was everything.
Henry helped him out of the bath once he was finished with his own shower, enveloping Alex in a large fluffy towel and his hair in a satin hair wrap. “To protect your curls, I saw it online,” Henry said.
Alex felt a little ridiculous, not used to being the one on the receiving end of such care. He felt the thrum of anxiety when he glanced down at his watch, conscious of the fact that he had less than an hour before the start of his full day of meetings.
Still, he was powerless to resist when Henry begged sweetly to dress him. “Let me luxuriate in every minute I have left with you. You’ve done it for me so many times.”
“Because I’m a pervert who likes the excuse to look at you and grope you,” Alex quipped.

Update on Tactical Vest Tech: Tattoos!
Tumblr media
As promised, here's an update of Tactical Vest Tech: now with TATTOOS! And a TAN!
Here's to all of us weirdos who took our Ken dolls as kids and gave them ink with Sharpies so our Barbies could have biker boyfriends. I'm reliving my childhood here.
Anywho, Tech's tattoos are various Ojibwe ones, due to the fact that he joined Camina Drummer's family at the end of Far Past the Ring and my headcanon is that they're of Ojibwe descent, like Cara Gee herself. He's also got some Belter ones too.
His skin is darker, in the same coloring as Crosshair and a smidge lighter than Wrecker. I also changed his nose. brow, and mouth to look more like Temuera Morrison's.

"Dr. Meat Muffin, why have you been churning out shit left and right?"
Because Dr. Meat Muffin thought about a funny gift she'd by for her Uncle Bill last week for Christmas (it's a family tradition to buy the weirdest shit on Amazon and send it to a family member) and put it in her online basket.
She was then reminded that her Uncle Bill died a few weeks ago.
In lieu of dealing with her grief, Dr. Meat Muffin has just been pounding out pictures and writing of Copy Paste Men, Space Cajuns, and the occasional journal article.

Undisclosed Desires - Part 9
Tumblr media
Joe Goldberg x female!Reader
Summary: Twenty minutes before he would have met Guinevere Beck, Joe meets you instead. You intruige him, but it will soon become clear that there is something off about you.
Words: 1184
Masterlist
I hate your coworkers. I really do.
They're like the people from the books you love, but exactly the wrong kind. Not Shadow Moon but Henry Winter and Richard Gansey III. Rich assholes, all of them. They think they're working hard, but all their wealth was just handed to them.
And you? You think you belong among them.
I don't like this side of you, (Y/n). You live in a shitty apartment in one of the bad parts of town. You read books that make you feel something and go on unplanned walks and turn your face up to the sky when it rains. You're not like these people at all. Yet when you're around them, you act just like them. You drink too much. You laugh too loudly. And you get way too close, pressing yourself against your male coworkers like they have a shot with you.
You barely look at me.
These people aren't so hard to find out about. They all think they're very important, so they all have a huge online presence.
There’s Jasper Merrit, the guy who talks to you most and whose arm you keep slapping when he makes a joke. He's twenty-nine, comes from money (who here doesn't?), owns two houses and has a wife who isn't here and a girlfriend who is.
There's Kim Wheeler. She's tall and angry-looking. Thirty-seven without kids. She is your boss, and you are far too eager to be noticed by her. You make light conversation with her and tell jokes that aren't funny and really, (Y/n)? I didn't figure you to be the type who has mommy-issues.
There's Dana Morrison, who gives you the cold shoulder and who you give the cold shoulder back. Her Instagram has pictures of you together, though. The rift must have been recent. She is pregnant but has no husband or boyfriend - IVF, according to her Twitter. She wants to be a single mother - and owns a car that's worth ten times as much as your apartment.
There’s also Nick McKinnon. I guess I like Nick. His social media (LinkedIn only) tells me almost nothing about him, and he has no particular presence on Google, either. He's not from a rich family as far as I can tell and, more importantly, he talks to you without eying you like a piece of meat. He seems devoted to his girlfriend, who is trying desperately to befriend you even though you don't seem to notice. If we get a moment alone together, I might point it out to you.
We've been here for two hours now. The music is too loud, and you're definitely not enjoying it, but you're acting like you are. You're dancing with your coworkers and drinking another beer - you don't like beer, though. You told me so - and you're getting kind of drunk.
But then, suddenly, you're hanging around my shoulders, and in an instant I forgive this entire day.
“I need a break. Come somewhere quiet with me?” you shout in my ear.
I nod.
There is nowhere quiet to go, but at least there's somewhere quieter, away from the main stage and between the food stalls, where there's currently almost nobody because apparently the guy performing his shitty songs right now is kind of a big deal.
It doesn't matter where we are, or that I have a headache from all the music. I take the fact that we don't have to shout at each other as an absolute win.
You stumble and I catch your elbow. You laugh quietly, the way you usually laugh. I feel relieved because it means the way you've been acting today is all just that: acting.
“Sorry,” you tell me. “I’m a lightweight. I probably should have warned you.”
“It's okay.”
You turn and stumble into me. You could stand on your own, but you want to be close to me. You press your face into my shirt.
“You hate this, don't you?”
“I'm okay,” I say.
You snort. It would be an unattractive sound, but I like it because it means you see right through me. You know me, and I love that.
“You've barely said a word to anyone. You've just been on your phone this whole time.”
“I'm… nervous.”
“I shouldn't have brought you today.” Your hands run up my arms. “I knew you probably wouldn't like it. I don't know. I thought I might have more fun if I brought you along.” You pause. “You're so good, Joe. Not like these people at all.”
“Oh?” I say. I don't want to sound like I'm fishing for compliments but I really, really want you to elaborate.
“They're all so… None of them are real like you.” You sigh. “With them, I always feel like I'm saying or doing exactly the wrong thing. Kim always just stares at me like I'm a child and Dana… you know she told me I try too hard?”
You do try too hard, (Y/n). At least with these people. Why do you even want them to like you? They're not worth your time.
“And it's, like, of course I try!” You continue. “She just doesn't get it because she's never had to try at anything in her life. Everybody just automatically likes her and if they don't, she has enough money to buy their affection.” You pull away from me. “Sorry, I'm sorry.”
“What for?” I ask.
“I'm venting at you. I shouldn't do that. You didn't consent to that.”
“Consider this me, consenting,” I tell you. “That's what…” I pause, deliberately. “Friends… are for.”
“Right, well…” You step away from me, just slightly, and wring your hands together. “God, I'm such an idiot.”
“If you want, we can just leave.”
“We could do that, couldn't we? It's not even like I have to be here. Ninety percent of the company isn't.”
“Let's go somewhere else,” I suggest. “Get a cheap burger, some coffee, sober you right up.”
You smile. But then, you shake your head. “It's only been two hours. It'll seem weird.”
“It can totally be my fault,” I say. “'Oops, sorry guys, my bookstore's being broken into. We gotta go.'” I shrug. “I'd have to take you with me because I'm the sober one. I'm supposed to get you home safe.”
You consider this.
“Maybe.”
I can't push you. It needs to be your choice to go with me. You need to choose me over these assholes, or this won't work. Let me just make that clear now, (Y/n).
“We can stay if you want,” I say, trying to sound reassuring. “I'm just saying, we don't have to if you don't want to.”
“I want to leave,” you decide. “But no lying. I'm a shit liar. They'll just figure it out at work tomorrow. I'll tell them we're going and meet you back here.”
“Okay then,” I say. “Are you good to walk on your own, though?”
“I'm fine,” you say. And you're right: you are a shitty liar.
I mean, you manage to walk on your own, but it looks pretty funny.

hiii pls check out the flag for Bonney Lake, WA. i can only find one size of it online and it's very small which really adds to it.
Tumblr media
Truly incredible, especially because I can't find any evidence that this is a seal of the city or anything.
From FOTW:
The flag for the City of Bonney Lake was first developed in 2008 for use in a parade of flags at an annual conference of the Association of Washington Cities held in Yakima, WA. Bonney Lake City Administrator Don Morrison provided input to graphic designers, Matautia Design, of Olympia, WA.
I think this style is quite typical for flags made very impromptu for events like this, I can understand why it doesn't receive much usage, but the fact that it was indeed created by a graphic design firm does heighten my viewing experience.
I find myself particularly entranced, by the inclusion of the "original flag" with the misspelling of incorporated (as "incorperated" -- as it is usually pronounced). I wonder if it's possible to still find these out in the wild...
Tumblr media
I find their logo to be much more suitable for the type of low effort logo flag I mentioned earlier, and I think this might actually be what's flying outside of their Justice & Municipal Center
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The city website has a similar image on its front page, but the flag is similarly obscured there as well.

As an avid DMC fan, what would be your recommended play order of the games for someone looking to get the full DMC experience? Most people online seem split between starting at 3 or 1 (though most agree on skipping 2).
Most? You mean there's someone out there actually recommending you play 2? Terrifying.
If you want the DMC experience, buy the Devil May Cry HD collection (contains 1-3 Special Edition, but really it's more like 1 and 3 Special Edition) and take your pick:
Pick DMC1 if you want to see how the series started. It's not fully Devil May Cry yet and its former identity as a Resident Evil 4 prototype is still somewhat recognizable, but you'll appreciate what eventually became the foundation of modern day action games.
Pick DMC3 if you want to see Devil May Cry once it really found itself. This is the game that made Vergil his own character (beyond just being a brainwashed boss in DMC1), introduced Lady, styles, Devils Never Cry, basically all the finishing touches to Devil May Cry's identity. Do note that I recommend that you install a "style switcher" mod when you play 3. Usually you have to select a style at a statue, but the Switch version lets you swap styles on the fly like in DMC4 and 5, and this was implemented in no other versions. lol.
After you go through your first pick, you can then play the other, before moving on to 4 and 5.
DMC4 is... kinda rushed, and also came out in that odd 2008-2010ish time period where Capcom games like Resident Evil 5 were completely normal and then they'd randomly do something racist (for DMC4, a new dark-skinned character just turned out to be an old, light-skinned character in a magic disguise, which... yeah), but it did introduce Nero, as well as had the most complex ever Dante whose skill ceiling was so high (despite not having a moveset as huge as DMC5 Dante) that many hardcore players still swear by DMC4's combat system. DMC4 would also lead to the creation of DMC's "sister" game, Bayonetta.
Finally, there's DMC5, the latest game released in 2019 after a 10 year hiatus in which absolutely positively no other DMC games came out whatsoever. None. I mean it.
I recommend you play this last, since 5 is a love letter to the entire series from 1's enemies being V's summons to its reenactment of Dante vs Vergil to even making the Devil May Cry anime canon to the games by making Morrison a cast member and including a cameo from Patty. The game also sets up Nero as the main protagonist for the series going forward, and he really comes into his own in this game.
That being said, 5 is actually really good as a starting point for new players. It's got very accessible difficulties, well-balanced enemies, a robust training mode, no puzzles (you could really get stuck in those, I know I did) and even an autocombo mode that automatically makes combos for you that you can turn on and off at any time without even pausing. If you've always been intimidated by the bar for mechanical skill and by DMC's reputation for difficulty, 5 offers you good training wheels and won't compromise your DMC experience for using them. You can start here just fine and work your way backwards.
