Morrigan & Kara<3
Tumblr media
[ART BY: Morght On ych.commishes.com]
I'm running multiple Dragon Age roleplays where Kara is an additional Grey Warden companion as opposed to, well, the main character [So participants Warden + Alistair + Kara] :') Depending on participant choices, Kara can either end up with Leliana, Morrigan or the participant's Warden (think Iron Bull/Dorian in DAI). So I figured, why not commission some Kara/Morrigan content?<3
Appearance for Morrigan is based on the mods I used for my most recent playthrough of Origins~!

@14daysdalovers 11 - Murmurs *Whispering* Solona: So, uh... do you think they noticed? Alistiar: Hm. I dunno. Morrigan's been eyeing me with a murderous stare. I mean, more than usual. Do you think she saw... Morrigan: *deadpan* I'm right here, you know... and yes, I saw you. It was hard to miss.

Pairing: Female Amell x Morrigan Rating: T Tags: Shapeshifting, POV Morrigan, Bisexual Morrigan, Body Horror, (only slightly cuz i mean they're shapeshifting it's a lil awful), (gratuitous bird metaphor), Unresolved Sexual Tension
“What a pretty bird,” she cooed, and the bird cooed in response. “It's like you,” Morrigan quipped. She watched Eilonwy’s cheeks take on a reddish hue before she realised her mistake, then jabbered, “The cooing, you see. The incessant cooing. That is what I mean. It also nests directly on the ground, with no care for its safety, as if it has no regard for trees. I found this one in the shade of the chantry instead of in nature where it belonged. I suppose you only saw trees for the first time when you left your tower, yes?” ~~~ Morrigan teaches Eilonwy Amell to shapeshift.

Dark Ritual [Re-Upload]
Description: Aries Amell can't believe what her friend is saying. There's a ritual where a Grey Warden needn't sacrifice themselves in order to save the world? And all that's needed to live is for a male Warden in impregnate her friend? Well, if it's THAT easy... Aries Amell belongs to GloomyGooey on Twitch.
AO3 , Fanfiction Net , Wattpad
Warnings: None
-------------------------------------------------------------
"What?"
Aries Amell started to laugh at her sister-from-another-crazy mother. There's no way that Morrigan actually said that. Of course, Aries and Morrigan talk about all kinds of rituals involving some dark magic, but she just couldn't believe that a spell like that existed. If so, why not use it in the past?
But when Aries saw that Morrigan didn't crack a single smile, her laughter dimmed down to a stop until she grew as serious as her close friend looked.
"What." Aries said again, but not as a question.
"I won't repeat it for I know you heard me."
"But that's-How did you-How-How could you even suggest that to me?" Aries stammered.
"Because it's a way to keep you alive. I thought you'd be interested." Morrigan said matter of factly.
"But with him. I mean why-" Aries stopped, and remembered back to what Morrigan said months prior.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aries and her team had just returned from gaining the Dalish Elves support. Morrigan watches as her friend smiles and the buffoon she's looking at smiles back and runs to her. Her friend laughs as he pecks her face with kisses and hugs her tightly. It's not until Aries kisses him deeply on the mouth that Morrigan turns away and suppress the urge to vomit.
How could she fall for an idiot like that? Morrigan wonders to herself. She sighs, then looks back to see Alistair leading Aries back to the main fire and giving her something to eat.
Morrigan had to tell her, at least in some way. Very, very soon.
A week passes, and the group is making their way to Orzammar. Aries orders to make camp to rest for the night before they arrive. Morrigan manages to get Aries alone while the others scavenge for food and supplies.
"I have no idea what you see in him."
"Well he gives the best kisses, best cuddler-" Aries starts to tick off her fingers.
"I'm not talking about your dog, Aries."
Aries’ dog barks in acknowledgement. Aries laughs and pats his head.
"He's an idiot."
"You're too hard on Alistair, and he's too hard on you."
"It will never work."
"Oh come on now Morr-"
"I mean it, Aries." Morrigan said sternly. Aries just stared back at her.
"What do you mean, Morrigan." Aries said in a no question tone. She was upset.
"Because-" Morrigan caught herself, "It just won't. You're both Grey Wardens-"
"Oh no no no," Aries raised her hand to stop her, "Don't you dare turn into a Wynne, Morrigan."
"And don't you dare compare me to that-" Morrigan stopped herself again and took a deep breath, "I'm just-" she blushed and turned her head away, "Concerned for you...is all..."
"Aww, that's so sweet of you, Morrigan." Morrigan thought Aries said that in a sarcastic tone, like usual, but when she looked back she saw that Aries had a genuine smile.
"Thank You, Morrigan. But we'll be fine."
No, you won't.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aries stood dumbfounded. She took a step back in disbelief, then grew furious.
"YOU!" Aries yelled pointing at Morrigan, "HOW DARE YOU?! WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST TELL ME?!"
"I didn't know what the circumstances would be yet!" Morrigan defended herself.
"Why not Riordan?!"
"It has to be a male new to the taint.”
"How do you know about this?!"
"It's why my mother sent me with you.”
"We're friends Morrigan! How could you-"
"YES!" Morrigan snapped, "We ARE friends! That's why I'm telling you now! I'm telling you so you can live! So you can achieve everything you are meant to!" Morrigan breathed in and out. She's never let so much emotion out. Aries just stood there.
"Umm...everything ok in here?" Alistair poked his head into his lovers bedroom after hearing her yell.
"You have one hour to choose, Aries." Morrigan stares back at her. "If you don't come back with him I'm leaving. For good."
Aries stared at her for a couple more beats, then turned on her heel and dragged a very confused boyfriend to an empty bedroom.
She pushed Alistair inside a room and shut the door behind them. Aries leaned against the door and took deep breaths, thinking.
Morrigan is right. I'm not done here yet.
"Is everything okay, Aries? I mean, I suppose not since in seems Morrigan is involved." Alistair asked looking quite concerned.
Aries closed her eyes, took a deep breath in and out, then looked at her lover and blurted:
"I need you to sleep with Morrigan in some sort of impregnation ritual that her mother taught her and that's why she sent Morrigan with us and it can only be you because the taint is new in your blood believe me I offered Riordan but she was all 'nope it has to be Alistair' this is the only way we can both survive the battle and you be King and I become your mistress I'm so sorry but I need you to do this."
Aries took a deep breath again.
Alistair stared at his lover, then burst into laughter.
Huh, deja vu.
"You want me to have sex with Morrigan?!” Alistair wheezed out his question. He continued laughing for another whole minute before he started to calm down.
Once he did, Aries looked him straight in the eyes and said:
“Yes.”
A long silence passed between them.
“WHAT?!?!”
“Look, sweetie-”
“YOU WANT ME TO IMPREGNATE MORRIGAN?!?!”
“Alistair-”
“It's bad enough that I'm a bastard child, but you want me to make another one with that women?!”
“Yes, Alistair, look I'm sorry!” Aries stepped away from the door and went to him. She held his head in her hands gently, “I'm sorry. I know you hate her but I- I trust her. I really do. She said this is the only way for both of us to live. For you to be a King to these poor people,” she kissed his lips, “And I can be right beside you.”
“Rather it was as my Queen, or it was you performing this ritual.”
Aries sighs, “I know, but you know how low of chances two Wardens can have a child. Besides,” she wrapped her arms around his neck and he in turn wrapped his arms around her waist, “With your guidance...Maybe I could still have a chance at being your Queen...and we'd have a lot more time at trying for a child.” Aries smiled slyly.
Alistair sighed, then kissed Aries deeply.
“Fine.”
When Aries and Alistair walked back into the bedroom Morrigan was at, hand in hand, they saw her sitting on the bed with her arms crossed and looking at the fireplace.
“I have some questions first before...anything happens.” Alistair said.
Morrigan turned her face towards him, “Ask.”
“Will this child be...normal?”
“Normal as far as one can be with an old god soul in them, yes.”
“Okay...will I see-”
“No.”
“What?” Aries and Alistair asked in unison.
“This is my sole condition for doing this for you two,” Morrigan stood up and walked towards the couple, “I will save both your lives here tonight by you, Alistair, conceiving a child in me, but I will walk away after the Archdemon is slain. No goodbyes. You will never see the child and shall never see me again. I shall raise it as my own, my own way.”
“Morrigan-”
“No, Aries,” Morrigan looked at her friend, “This is final,” she turned to Alistair, “Yes or no.”
Alistair swallowed, looked to the love of his love. When she nodded he turned to Morrigan once more and answered:
“Unfortunately, yes.”
“Unfortunate I have to save your life like this, yes.” Morrigan sneered, “We must do this quickly. There is not much time left.”
“Thank the Maker it'll be quick at least,” Alistair ignored Morrigan's rude comeback and faced Aries once more.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, Alistair.” The two kissed passionately, then Aries quickly walked out of the room before Alistair could change his mind, went into the pervious room she was just in with him, threw her clothes off until she was just in her small clothes, then tried to fall asleep.
And fall asleep she must have, for she was stirred awake hours later by the sound of her door opening and a body practically jumping onto her bed and tightly hug her from behind.
“I really love you, Aries.” Aries giggled and patted her lovers hands that were on her stomach.
“I love you too, Alistair.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After few precious hours of sleep, hours of fighting through a city infested of darkspawn, Aries and her team finally reached the Archdemon.
The battle was brutal, and Aries lost a lot of allied support, but thankfully no one from her team.
Together they managed to utterly destroy the dragons wings so it could no longer escape. The Archdemon flinched after its crash landing, and Aries took that opportunity to grab a discarded sword, run to the dragon and stab it right in the head.
An enormous, mysterious, and painful kind of energy erupted around her. She couldn't focus on anything.
Nearby her team stood watching. Alistair gave a look to Morrigan, and she in return nodded.
Then everything went dark on Aries.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Days later after the heroes have healed and they had a parade in their honor, Aries stood on the sidelines as she watched King Alistair’s inauguration. Everyone in the building and outside cheered as the crown was placed on his head and he waved to his people.
He gave a wink to her. Aries winked back.
Now the real fun begins.

I was asked this on my old blog right as I set about transitioning to this one, so...
The first character I ever fell in love with: for DA:O, dare I say Daveth? What can I say -- I irrationally got incredibly attached to him. otherwise, DEFINITELY Morrigan, and I have crystal clear memories of my first run through Lothering and looking at Morrigan like 😍 the whole time. For DA:2/E, Carver -- unless you count Anders & Justice since I knew of them from Awakening beforehand, in which case probably Justice. For DA:I, it’s a toss-up between Vivienne or Cole -- I technically liked Cole first but SPECIFICALLY in the supporting material (Asunder), and didn’t vibe with him anywhere near as much in the game, AND I got him as a companion after I got Vivienne, so probably Vivienne.
A character that I used to love/like, but now do not: for DA:O, I guess Oghren? I never loved him, but I liked the idea of him because I really liked the dwarves/Orzammar side of DA’s worldbuilding -- but he’s such an unlikeable character that I just.. don’t vibe with him at all. I debate recruiting him every single time now, and I don’t think I ever do his personal quest (in the base game OR Awakening). for DA:2/E, I don’t really have anyone that fits -- but I REALLY wanted to like Merrill and Aveline more than I did, and especially in Aveline’s case, I can’t stand her and genuinely think she’s the unintended, secret Big Bad of the whole game. for DA:I, probably Cole, bc I was really into the idea of a little walking-corpse serial killer animated by a spirit as per the book, but that’s not really the vibe in DA:I, and combined with the somewhat patronising/ableist language and how significantly he is infantilised (including by the fandom) I just got put off him. I do still like him, but not as much.
A ship that I used to love/like, but now do not: for DA:O, I don’t really have one? I guess see my DA:I answer, lol... for DA:2/E, has to be Anders - I don’t think he’s OOC in 2, but I think his writing does so little with him and he feels v. reductive. Where his relationship could be SO interesting and angsty, it instead is written in a really dull and/or cringey way. It would have been nice to see Anders more like the Anders of Awakening near the beginning of the game (rather than random, infrequent and questionably rare snippets), and then see the progression of his relationship with Justice as the game went on -- I want more interesting abominations, PLEASE. for DA:I, listen I cannot express to you HOW EXCITED I was for my planned Lavellan to romance Sera… also I used to be way more tolerant of Cullen x Amell/Surana ships because, like, hey dark ships are fun, right? But since Cullen’s ~wholesome whitewash~ in DA:I, and his fandom clamouring to absolve him of any wrongdoing ever.. it’s boring to me.
My ultimate favourite character™: for DA:O, probably Sten? or Morrigan. They’re both fantastic, and also are significant comfort chars for me. for DA:2/3, honestly, probably my own Hawke -- I feel so hugely proud of her, and can’t imagine I’d enjoy the game anywhere near as much had I not played it as my Hawke. If not her, maybe Sebastian or Carver? for DA:I, I really love Vivienne, as well as Blackwall, and Solas is a great character even if I probably would not say I liked him.
Prettiest character: for DA:O, we all know it’s Zevran. for DA:2/E, I think Aveline -- although her aggressively bland colour-scheme lets her down in a major way (although I respect her dedication to all orange all day every day). There’s just something about her arms -- very Abby from TLOU:2. for DA:I, maybe Josephine? Ser Barris is very pretty, too...
My most hated character: for DA:O, I really didn’t like Alistair, Wynne and Oghren, and of my companions - Oghren is probably my least favourite. He’s vulgar and also profoundly uninteresting. for DA:2/E, it has to be Aveline. There’s just something about ineptitude and a complete, wilful refusal to take accountability for your actions that I can’t stand. It would be okay if it was an intentional character flaw, but the game/narrative treats her like she’s lawful good and it really annoys me. for DA:I, maybe Iron Bull? He was a huge disappointment for me. I also really dislike Sera, Cassandra, and Varric. I’m so sick of Varric - I never want to see him again.
My OTP: for DA:O, I really loved Zevran’s romance -- but I am also very amused by the fact that Leliana got to ‘love’ status with Kallian accidentally, AND I got the ‘love’ glitch for Justice (👀) and Velanna. I do sometimes wonder about an AU where Kallian is forced to make a politically expedient marriage with Nathaniel Howe for diplomatic reasons in order to consolidate her position as Arlessa, and it being an entirely platonic arrangement (it’s not like anyone expects an heir from an infertile Grey Warden) -- and maybe Zev and Nate kiss sometimes, who knows? I also LOVE my Darkspawn Chronicles AU where Kallian and Nelaros are a happy, married couple each hiding their skills with weapons from each other like dumb, cute sweethearts. They shelter Zevran when he fails to kill Alistair and a poly couple evolves. for DA:2/E, I love the IDEA of a Seb romance that isn’t so strictly conditional around the structures that abused him -- he should be allowed to love, chastely or otherwise, but free from the Chantry OR his position as prince/heir. I’d LOVE to actually have a romance with him where you can actually challenge the abuse he’s experienced. for DA:I, Malika doesn’t have a canon romance (although I think when I replay, I’m going to romance Josephine!) but I think Blackwall has an amazing romance. Solas’ is also iconic, it must be said.
My NOTP: for DA:O, I really dislike Alistair in a shipping capacity; he’s immature and says a lot of misogynistic shit and I don’t think he’s the worst for it, but I don’t really vibe with shipping him, having played the game as a female city elf. for DA:2/E, I wouldn’t say I have one, particularly? although I really dislike Aveline’s relationship with her husband simply because it seems incredibly inappropriate, given that they work together and she has power over him -- and because I dislike her, generally, I don’t feel inclined to do something nice for her. for DA:I, I suppose Sera/Lavellan -- although I’m not AGAINST it, it just really isn’t for me, having attempted it. I also don’t really vibe with Dorian x Iron Bull. Something abt the way the game handled BDSM and their relationship banter specifically I don’t really like.
Favourite episode quest: for DA:O, probs Orzammar/the Deep Roads. I really love the dwarven lore! and, of course, Fort Drakon is really funny, even though it’s not canon in my game iirc. for DA:2/E, maybe the murder mystery with the serial killer, where ultimately Leandra dies? I also really enjoyed all the companion quests. for DA:I, The Descent (just, all of it, lmao) and everything to do with the Avvar. Crestwood also BANGED.
Saddest death: for DA:O, it’s frankly a fucking INJUSTICE that Shianni gets murdered if you make her Bann of the Alienage -- the idea of that happening whilst Kallian is in Amaranthine and unable to protect her :( genuinely very upsetting. I go back and forth on who is made Bann, tbf, so idk how canonical it is: I think maybe Cyrion would get it, but I’m also endeared to Soris holding the position, with Shianni as Hahren. for DA:2/E, Bethany. I wish both twins had had the chance to reach Kirkwall :(. Let Leandra die instead. for DA:I, maybe not the saddest death, but the most memorable for me was that one sleeping dragon in the Hissing Wastes.. leave her alone. Stay out of a womans’ business.
Favourite season game: DA:O!
Least favourite season game: DA:I.
Character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but I hate: for DA:O, Alistair. I cannot deal with his complacency and hypocrisy. for DA:2, I really disliked Merrill but I honestly cannot remember why. DEFINITELY Varric -- I hated how the game forces you to be his best friend, and if you’re low approval, you have to endure these pointless pissy little comments with this little anti-dwarf centrist pissant. After the expedition, I literally have no reason to put up with him, and I NEVER take him out. I hate that he plays the same role in DA:I, too. for DA:I, the Iron Bull was hugely disappointing, and I also really don’t vibe with Cassandra. She just seems very wishy-washy and complacent and hypocritical, and many of her comments about other cultures seem snide for literally no reason other than bigotry.
My ‘you’re a piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: for DA:O, lbr probably Sten. Mans is gonna launch a HORRIFYING invasion in the next game iirc and frankly, I’m ok with it. Just wanna see that big bastard again ❤🥵. for DA:2/E, I LOVE Gamlen, ok? for DA:I, I am not sure if I have one.
My ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: for DA:O, if any of you so much as LOOK at Velanna wrong, it’s hands. That includes Bioware. I also feel incredibly protective of and sad for Morrigan. for DA:2/E, probably Sebastian -- I feel so sad for him, and so frustrated by the limitations with the game. for DA:I, I’m honestly not sure.. maybe Josephine? I don’t really feel this way about Sera, but I do think she deserves better from the game and its writing, and also from fandom: there are valid criticisms of her, but the hate she gets is not proportional to any valid issues with her -- and gee, I wonder why that is.
My ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: for DA:O, I did use to find Cullen x Surana/Amell intriguing as a dark ship -- I actually hc that Neria Surana is actually Nelaros’ sister, and have dabbled with it as a dark ship. I also am interested in Loghain/Alistair - which each pretends the other is someone else. Alistair is wooby, hate ships are, in general, fun -- so long as we acknowledge that they are, indeed, unhealthy ships. for DA:2/E, I kind of feel like Sebastian romances are, invariably, kind of dark... and, similarly, Anders romances -- especially with certain red Hawkes, The way it ends is, invariably, bordering on fucked up. ALSO Hawkecest is weird and wonderful: GET WITH IT.
My ‘they’re kind of cute, and I lowkey ship them, but I’m not too invested’ ship: for DA:O, I joked about Velanna x Leliana once and I’ve not been able to stop thinking about it ever since… Velanna x Sigrun is also something that can be so personal. Ariane x Finn is adorable and are paid DUST by Bioware AND fandom. I actually am really into Anora x Nathaniel & NO I will NOT explain myself; it’s a crackship but it’s MY crackship. for DA:2/E, Isabela x Fenris is super cute, but I don’t pay enough attention to them to really have super committed thoughts & feelings on them. for DA:I, Blackwall x Josephine is cute as a background ship; I also think Maryden x Cole is sweet.

If Morrigan taught Warden how to perform Dark Ritual, would it be possible for female Warden to get pregnant with their LI (even if it was another Warden)? Or is the Old God's soul nescessary to keep the baby alive and such Ritual wouldn't work in the end?
Hi Nonnie! The answer is under a cut for length and sensitivity purposes.
Huh, interesting question. Do you mean like instead of Morrigan performing it with the male Hero, Alistair or Loghain before the battle so that someone didn’t have to make the Ultimate Sacrifice, could the female Hero instead be the one to perform it with her (Scenario A)? Or do you mean like, in normal everyday circumstances where nobody’s life is at stake, could the female Hero perform it with their LI as a way of overcoming the effects of the Taint on fertility and so be able to have biological children together that way (Scenario B)?
Hard to say I think! The DR wasn’t totally explained and was left quite vague. We don’t really know all that much about it. It’s ancient and mysterious. A couple things:
The DR is old magic from before the Circles of Magi were ever created. Morrigan says some would call it blood magic. If it’s possible for Morrigan to teach others how to perform it, I’d guess that as it’s magic she would only be able to teach it to Amell and Surana. My first assumption would be that it’s not possible for mundanes to carry out the ritual, therefore the pool of which female Heroes would be capable of hypothetically performing the ritual with their non-Morrigan LI is limited.
The methodology of the ritual Morrigan learned from Flemeth. This causes me to wonder if only powerful mages would be able to carry it out. I also wonder about whether there’s some requirement that said mage is ‘special’ somehow, for lack of a better term, like would they need to have [x] trait or [y] background? Would they need to have been brought up as Morrigan was learning non-Circle magic arts from an ancient being, have had that training to have the ability? Would they need to be of Flemeth’s bloodline even? Kieran’s line “Mother is the inheritor, she who awaits the next age” I feel has several meanings. It’s about Morrigan’s general wish to come into possession of and preserve the magics and powers of old, and it’s about how Flemythal had intended to gift Morrigan her soul, had she been willing. It’s foreshadowing that Morrigan may one day drink from the Well and receive all that it entails, and it’s a vaaague asf allusion to the general future of Thedas (packaged with a meta ‘wink nudge, get it, AGE?’ card lol) as a whole in the same kinda vague manner that epic lines like “Change is coming to the world” and “The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss” are [~oohhh dramatic ominous noises~, y’know?]. It also brings to mind Morrigan’s DAO plot-arc of having been sent along with the Hero and Alistair in the first place in order to try to ‘inherit’ (poetic use of the word here) Urthemiel’s soul. The inheritor, “This is what I was meant to do”.. sounds a bit specific and predestined-ish. Could all mages who attempt the DR in Morrigan’s place manage to inherit the soul or successfully complete the rite, or are there some special requirements? This is unknown and purely just me speculating about all possibilities.
It was once written in that the female Hero (any female Hero) could be the one to perform the DR with Morrigan and the OGB would still be conceived. This was going to be possible via magic, but ultimately the writers scrapped this idea before the game shipped. So with reference to Scenario A, I don’t see why you couldn’t write/headcanon that the female Hero performed the DR with Morrigan and that as a result Morrigan became pregnant. It’s clearly something the writers were thinking about having be a thing once upon a time, and in this setting we have all kinds of powerful magics that we don’t question, so why not handwave this if you want to.
You could take into account Grey Warden fertility. The Taint decreases a Warden’s fertility and most can only conceive prior to the Joining. On occasion a Warden and a non-Warden can conceive, so you could have, for example, the female Hero and Zevran, say, settling down and having children in the usual manner after the Blight or whatever, albeit probably with some difficulty conceiving and it being a rare/notable thing if they managed to. The sooner they began the better their chances though, probably; Morrigan’s line about Riordan being unsuitable as a candidate because she needs a Warden who hasn’t been tainted for too long otherwise it wouldn’t work was said in reference to the DR, but from the sound of it it seems to imply that the longer a Warden has been tainted for, the lower their already low chances of conceiving are, and that after some timepoint it drops off completely and permanently and is no longer possible at all. Alistair is able to father Kieran about 1.5 years after going through the Joining, and Fiona was able to conceive Alistair with Maric about 1 year after being recruited, so we know it’s possible in the first 1.5 years at least.
Canonically as far as anyone [in-universe] knows, under normal circumstances two Grey Wardens can’t have children together naturally and it’s never happened. On this DG once wrote “just because it's never happened doesn't mean it never could, I suppose. There are always exceptions. [...] So if you involve some mysterious [magic McGuffin in the headcanons/fanfic of the player he was talking to in this exchange]... why not? [...] Unnaturally is an entirely different story.” It’s up to you whether you take on-board or discard this particular piece of canon that they can’t. I stick to it personally, but I can see why some Queen Cousland players, for example, would want their Heroes to be able to have biological children with Alistair and so opt to discard this or write around it.
Now, when a Warden does conceive a child with a non-Warden, the child doesn’t bear the Taint, like the Taint isn’t passed on. So the child of a Warden and a non-Warden conceived in regular non-DR circumstances isn’t in danger from getting or dying from the Taint or anything.
But, something about the way the DR works means that the resulting child would bear the Taint initially. The purpose of the DR was to make an embryonic beacon that the soul of the slain Archdemon would seek out. Some part of the DR ensures the Taint is passed on, because if the embryo wasn’t Tainted it wouldn’t be attractive to the soul and the soul wouldn’t go into it. However, Morrigan’s dialogue about how Kieran won’t be a darkspawn, how she seeks the soul free of the dark forces that corrupted it, and how the child as a result of the ritual will represent freedom for the soul and a chance for it to be reborn apart from the Taint implies that after the soul joins with the embryo, the Taint is cleansed from both. It’s the absorbing of the soul that cleanses the embryo of the Taint. And so, the presence of the Old God’s soul in the equation is necessary for the embryo of a Dark Ritual conception to be cleansed and born free of the Taint. With no Old God soul, you’d end up with a child which has the Taint and is therefore subject to what that can entail, like possible sickness or being linked to the darkspawn hivemind like a Warden or, presumably, eventually the ghoul-like corruption and premature death. I don’t know that any such embryo would even make it to term, really. So in Scenario B, I don’t think it would work like this unfortunately.
Hope this made sense, helped some and was a bit of food for thought. :)
(An aside: Lore discrepancy - Why can two Wardens not conceive together, but eventually after a Blight “Blighted animals will begin to breed again, giving birth to non-mutant [untainted] offspring”? That sounds like it’s saying a Blighted animal could breed with a Blighted animal successfully.)

The Warden gets sick and they have no healer in their party. Alistair is dubious about leaving her in Morrigan's care. She could just as easily poison the Warden as care for her!

Coming home
Summary:  Sometimes you can't help it. Sometimes you want to forget. But sometimes you just need someone who you can call home.
This was not one of my best summaries, I'll admit. But we all love a sassy and cute Alistair.
Disclaimer: I do not own Dragon Age or their characters/lore/story.
I hope you enjoy it. I think we all have a thing for this sweet puppy. I tried to keep my female Amell without description except for the hair, so anyone can immerse themselves in the story.  I do not ask anything but if you want to support my writing and my economic situation, I could give you my Ko-fi! Thank you in advance. Anyway, enjoy my stories!
Besides, I’m not as active as I used to be here but if you want to keep reading my stories you can find me in my AO3 account. I am currently working on a Loki x Natasha fanfic if you want to read it!
Tumblr media
The sunset turned the sky into a purple mantle that covered Denerim. The voices of the last merchants in the market echoed in the void. It could be possible to hear a fainted reminder of the Elf Alienage.
Another day passed.
He sighed and looked at his cup of wine, twirling it so the liquid caressed the inside. He was wearing simpler clothes than he was used to, the mantle long forgotten in his wooden chest, in the room. It was a weight on his shoulders he did not want to carry. At least not when he had the opportunity to be alone.
Claiming Ferelden’s throne had never been in his mind. In his own opinion, he was the last person capable of giving orders. Or leading. Maker, he didn’t even feel capable to lead the Mabari during his Blight days. And yet, it seems that it had not been his choice. It never was. Neither was his marriage to Anora.
Anora.
He snorted as he thought of his wife, emptying the cup before filling it again. The sweet smell of wine calmed his senses and he leant against the stone banister. One of the rooms near his had the windows open and he could hear the maids talking and chuckling, trying to muffle their sounds. He smiled at it, trying to remember when everything was easier. When he was a child, running down the halls of Redcliffe, or when he was a young man, training to be a templar.
His mind wandered to his wife again. Anora. How could someone describe Anora? Well, she was ambitious. She was determined and knew how she wanted things to be done. And she knew how to have them done. She was strong and she knew how to rule a country, that was out of question. Actually, she had been doing it for years while she was married to Cailan.
Yet, he didn’t like her. They got on well in the end, after a quite…difficult start in their marriage. The idea of beheading her father was a tricky matter. Yet, in the end he had learnt plenty of qualities from her and Eamon. How to rule, how to be a tactician. He could be well-versed in war and battlefield, but she was an expert politician and she knew how to manipulate those arrogant noble people to act on Ferelden’s benefit. He had to admit that.
She was good.
They were not close friends. But they respected each other and tried to improve their relationship. They would never be lovers, they both knew that. But the alliance had been better than they had expected.
Up to this time, he was still confused with her decision. The night he had come to his chambers and asked him to marry Anora if he wanted to go on with his birthright as Maric’s son and Ferelden’s heir. He had been astonished and he remembered himself standing in the middle of the room, the fire with a glowing orange light that outlined her figure, leaning against the fireplace. Maker, it seemed her ginger hair was on fire too.
“Don’t you…don’t you love me?”
Oh, sweet Andraste. The deeply sad smile she had forced in her beautiful lips. The way her shiny eyes had gone over his own face, as if he were still a child who needed to learn more about the real world. Probably that was the most probable option.
“I’m doing this because I love you, idiot” she replied with a faint voice and a playful tone. “Do you think you’d be allowed to marry someone…well, someone like me?”
Yes, he was an idiot. An idiot in love who thought that would be enough. But sometimes, desire was not enough. And then Morrigan’s thing had come. Maker, he hated when his mind wandered to that night.
What he remembered perfectly was him going back to his own chamber, finding her sitting on the bed, back against the headboard and hugging her knees. Seeing her like that broke his heart. His mind was blank, and he just approached the bed, laying on the soft mattress, too good to be real, after years of sleeping on a bedroll or the ground. She just laid by his side and opened her arms, as she always did, welcoming him. Her whole body surrounded him, and her hands rubbed his hair the way he loved.
They had made love. Slowly. Intimately. He wanted to erase every single rest of Morrigan’s touch. And she was the only one capable of doing that. Nobody knew what would happen. Would they defeat the Archdemon? Would they survive? Or would the world immerse in a future of darkness and despair?
If they had to die, at least they would live first. Together.
At first, he had his doubts about keeping her as his…Maker, he hated that word. Mistress. She did not deserve that. He wanted to be with her, marry her. Yet, she had been terribly pragmatic as always. Even Anora agreed with the deal, claiming Cailan had his own lovers. At least she would like this one.
It was done.
The arranged marriage was made public in the Landsmeet, after she had defeated Anora’s father, punishing him for his crimes. He thought about Loghain sometimes. He had betrayed his king and fellow warriors. He had committed treason. And yet, he had been helpful and valuable to Ferelden for years. Time had passed and he sometimes considered if it was the right thing to do.
He had made a speech and promised to come back to marry Anora after fighting the Blight. Everyone had celebrated the coronation of a Theirin heir. But his mind was not on the speech or the people who listened to him. He was like a tranquil, repeating the words that had been handed to him. His eyes wandered on those surrounding him, looking for his companions.
But they were nowhere in sight. And that broke his heart. Specially when it came to her.
He was alone in this.
Yet, he didn’t blame them. His companions had followed her to the fight. She was the natural leader, a sweet-caring woman with the rage of a dragon that could sew a mouth with her magic, a simple movement of her long fingers. She loved him, and he understood it was not easy to her to watch the man she loved marrying another woman, even if their relationship was going to continue.
He sighed and heard a soft knock on his door, followed by the creaking of the wood. He didn’t turn. It was probably Helena or one of the maids with his dinner.
“Leave it on the table. I’m not that hungry now”
But a king must be strong and healthy. You must eat something.
He could hear Eamon’s and Teagan’s voice in his mind. He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts while the sun started to disappear in the horizon. The night was calm and silent. And that was when he noticed.
Too silent.
He had not heard the maid leaving the room and a shiver ran down his spine. His hand left the cup of wine with deliberate movements and went for the dagger in his belt, prepared to defend himself from the threat. Even if he was not a fighter anymore, he was still skilled and prepared. Strong and fast, ready to attack.
Suddenly, a painless aura seemed to envelop his body and he discovered with fear that he couldn’t move a single inch. He tried to resist, to wriggle and escape from that magic prison. Maker’s sake, he hated that. Magic was something that kind of admired but feared, knowing he could be powerless in a battle with a mage.
Then he heard it. A chuckle.
Her chuckle.
“Alistair Theirin. I’m surprised you let me defeat you so easily” Her voice. Soft like silk sheets. Like a Sunday morning with the sun peeking through the curtains. Even in his state, without looking at her, Alistair could notice she was grinning.
“Eyra” The feeling of her magic surrounding him disappeared and he sighed, rubbing his muscles before turning.
There she was. With her light purple tattoos on her face. Her red hair framing her beautiful features and her clothes, typical of a mage. She never felt comfortable with the heavy Grey Wardens clothes. She always said they made her feel slow.
Memories hit him as if someone had punched him in the stomach. The first time he saw her when she was a mere recruit, brought by Duncan from the Circle after doing only the Maker knew what. The way they had survived, how he had hugged her when she appeared from the inside of Flemeth’s house. Camp nights, telling stories and mocking the other.
Their first kiss. Their first…Oh, sweet Maker.
Eyra approached the man with a smile and the air was cut from their lungs. Even if she kept her façade, she was as nervous as he was. It had been too many years. A long time separated from each other.
“I…I…” he stuttered, and she laughed, watching as blush crept from his neck to his cheeks before his lips twitched in that boyish smile she loved. The way she could make him nervous was unbelievable.
“You…you” she teased, crossing her arms over her chest before Alistair ran and picked her up, making her to scream. “Alistair, no!”
They twirled and laughed, not caring about anybody hearing them. They knew. Everybody knew about their king being in love with the Commander of the Grey Wardens and they did not care. Anora and him were good, so what?
“I can’t believe you are here!” he exclaimed, burying his fingers and face on her hair. She still smelled like blueberries. “Unless I fell from the balcony and I hit my head. That could be a possible reason as well”
“It seems you are the same idiot I left here” Eyra replied with a smile, nuzzling her face on his shoulder, resting her body against his. His hands went to her waist and he chuckled, the vibrations rumbling against her chest.
“C’mon. You love it”
“Just because I have no choice with you it doesn’t mean I love you”
“Ahhhhhh, you said it. You said you love me” Alistair started to pinch her and hit her with his index finger, only for her to laugh and try to escape from his strong grip.
“Maker’s breath, you’re the king of Ferelden. Behave!”
“That’s why I can allow myself to misbehave”
“You are unsufferable” She replied, and Alistair stared at her. The last sunrays made her hair shine. It was like a fire, threatening to consume him all. Her sweet smile and her lovely eyes on his own. “How you have you been here?”
“A few hours”
“What? And you didn’t come to see me?”
“I was having tea with Anora”
Alistair’s face was priceless at this information and Eyra chuckled, walking inside the room and taking off his cloak, tossing it on a chair. The man followed her like a puppy, and he moved his hands in an exaggerated manner.
“Are you telling me you went to have tea with my wife before coming to see me?” Eyra bit her lip and nodded, smiling like a child. Alistair huffed and feigned indignation. “My wife and my lover together! I can’t believe! Having tea and pastries without me”
“Don’t forget the cake, dear”
“Of course! You had cake without me! I despise you, Mage” he added with a voice that was intended to sound cruel and mischievous but failed in the attempt.
Both women had forged a bond over the years. Eyra had admitted Anora’s qualities as a queen and Anora was surprised with her work as the Commander of the Grey Wardens and her title as Arlessa of Amaranthine. When some political matters had to be discussed, Eyra usually went to Anora and the queen looked for her advice when necessary. All of this under the astonished gaze of Alistair, who could not believe it.
“Cailan had his affairs, dear” Anora had said one night they were having dinner together. “I don’t mind you having one. Especially if you truly love her. I can’t blame you and this political situation. Besides, she’s an exquisite person. A natural leader and an incredibly talented mage”
Maker, he had not only one but two pragmatical women.
“Did you even bring me a piece, at least?” Eyra pointed at the tray with her head and Alistair grinned like a child. “Andraste’s breath, I love you. Did I say that? Yes? Good”
“You love me because I brought you cake?”
“AND cheese!” Alistair exclaimed, raising his plate before taking a mouthful of food, much to Eyra’s disgust.
“Honestly, my mabari has better manners than you while eating”
“But I smell better”
“Well” Eyra scrunched her nose. “You are levelled with him”
“Hey! Don’t hurt my manly feelings, you woman!” Eyra raised her hands, smiling and took the fork to grab some food.
Time passed and both enjoyed a delightful dinner. It was summer and the balcony’s door was open, allowing the soft night breeze coming into the room. The candles lightened Eyra’s face and made her eyes shine with sparkles. Even her tattoos seemed brighter. Alistair had his chin on his hand, listening to her stories about how she had wandered around the world.
“Honestly, I thought that beast was going to bite me” she finished with a chuckle, shaking her head and taking her cup to drink. Before it took her lips, Eyra smiled sweetly at her lover’s gaze. “What?”
“Nothing. It’s just…I missed this. I missed you” Alistair grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles, one by one, making her giggling. His brown eyes looked at her intensely. “Did you…come here to tell something about…?
He didn’t even finish the sentence before she shook her head. Eyra already knew what the question was.  The reason why she had left Amaranthine to go all over Thedas. The reason why Alistair and the mage had been separated for years.
He knew he was pressured to have a child. An heir to the Theirin legacy. A new king or queen of Ferelden. Yet, with the taint, it was difficult. He had tried several times, even if he avoided Anora’s chambers as much as he could. Yet, it was useless. She was not pregnant.
Alistair remember their wedding night. He was nervous, sweaty, and the looks she was giving him didn’t help. He didn’t want to sleep with Anora, he wanted to sleep with Eyra. Still, his wife talked to him, trying to calm him down enough to perform his duty. And he did, with a bittersweet taste in his mouth.
“I’m sorry, my love” Eyra muttered in a mere whisper. Alistair’s eyes softened and he leant to press a kiss to her forehead.
“It’s not your fault. You will do it. If someone can, it’s you. I still remember our days in the party, from one side of Ferelden to the other, fighting darkspawns and monsters and dragon and you were the sweetest girl I’ve ever met” Eyra smiled softly, leaning against his shoulder. She loved the sound of his voice. “And you were always caring for us. Protecting us”
“And trying to stop Morrigan and you from killing each other”
“Oh, and do you remember when I felt jealous of your mabari?”
“What?” Eyra frowned and observed Alistair’s face turning crimson. Her mouth opened and she squealed. “Andraste’s breath! You were jealous of a dog!”
“No, I…did I say that? No, no. Of course not” Alistair coughed and tried to cover his blush with his cup, while Eyra held her head with her hand, grinning at him. “Okay, fine! Maybe I was a bit jealous of your dog. I mean, he could sleep with you!”
Eyra laughed heartily until tears rolled down her cheeks and her stomach hurt. Alistair had his arms crossed over his chest, staring at her with an eyebrow raised.
“I’m sorry. It’s just so funny. It seems they were right”
“What? Who?”
“Leliana, Zevran, Morrigan…” she counted with her fingers and Alistair slapped his face, shaking his head.
“Maker…I’m embarrassing myself”
“Yeah, well. That’s part of your charm, I guess”
“Is that so? Well, then…” Effortlessly, he grabbed Eyra and placed her over his lap, with her legs on the sides. He nuzzled his nose against hers, smiling. “Tell me, what other charms are irresistible to you”
“I didn’t say you were irresistible”
“You don’t have to. I can see it over your beautiful puppy eyes when you look at me”
Eyra sighed when he wriggled his eyebrows, his smile always in his lips. She chuckled and put both arms around his neck, lowering her voice while biting her lip. It had been a long time since they held each other. It was like an echo of another time. Their bodies had memory and remembered every single kiss and touch. And sweet Andraste, how much they had missed it.
Alistair’s hands cupped both of her cheeks and she leant, closing her eyes and enjoying that feeling. He stared at her, mesmerized, trying to memorise every single feature of her for when she left. Unable to hold himself any longer, he leant and pressed his lips against hers, a soft, delicate, and feather-like kiss that made their heads to spin. They felt dizzy as their mouth moved in a non-spoken agreement.
“Eyra…” he muttered when they moved back, breathing each other’s air and staring at their eyes, blown with not-so-subtle lust. The mage kissed the tip of his nose and moved over his jaw, feeling Alistair’s hands gripping his waist. When she reached his earlobe and licked it, he groaned and stood up, forcing her to stand.
His brown eyes looking at her as he walked until her knees hit the massive mattress. Even if time had passed and he was no longer a warrior, Alistair was still strong and could lift her without problem. Eyra bit her lip, just to tease him and his eyes followed the movement, tongue licking his own lips. His breath was ragged, as if he had been fighting darkspawn for hours.
Eyra went to unlace her shirt but his hand, bigger than her own, stopped her.
“No, I want to do it”
She smiled and nodded, letting her arms hang by her sides, observing his movements. They were deliberated, slow, enjoying every inch of skin displayed to him. His calloused hands caressed it before replacing them with his soft lips, peppering kisses over her jaw and neck, nipping and biting. Eyra’s breath hitched and soon her upper part was bare except for her breast band. Alistair frowned and stared at the cloth.
“I still hate that”
The woman chuckled and shook her head, feeling his hands caressing her hips, circling the skin with his thumbs. Soon they moved upwards, where her breasts were craving for his attention. Alistair bit the tender skin between the neck and the shoulder, and she gasped, noticing his smile against her skin. Her hands buried in that hair she loved and pressed his body against hers.
Soon the knot that held the band together and tossed it on the floor, staring at her body with admiration. To Alistair, not even Andraste could compare to his lover. She smiled shyly, as she did the first time they slept together inside her tent.
He felt a twitch in his heart, the memory of his camp nights still fresh in his mind. Sometimes he wondered what would have happened if he had left with the Grey Wardens, being her second-on-charge.
“Are you going to stay there all night, or will you do something?” she teased, biting her lip and wiggling her hips so the rest of her clothes fell, leaving her bare in front of him. Alistair felt his throat dry and swallowed hard. “Yet, I think it’s not fair that you are still dressed”
“No? Well, I’m the king here, and I think I might deserve having a little bit of advantage” he winked, and she punched him in the shoulder playfully before she started to undress him.
His broad chest was still tanned and strong. He had some scars here and there, the results of his time as a Grey Warden with Duncan and the travelling he had done with Eyra and the rest of the companions. He had some chest hair down his navel, where his breeches started. Alistair picked her up and placed her on the mattress, straddling her hips. He peppered his neck with kisses while his hands went to her breasts, touching and caressing them. Eyra gasped when his thumbs circled her nipples and arched her back.
“So sensitive. As always.” he grinned against her skin and lowered his head, capturing her nipple with his mouth, making her moan. “I miss those sounds. The softness of your skin…” Eyra pulled at his hair, placing her legs around his waist. His clothed length rubbed against her thigh and she felt her mind going blank. “I wonder…If I can make you come as I used to…”
Alistair’s wicked smile remained in his features as he went down her body, pressing kisses on her skin. Eyra knew where this was going, so her head hit the pillows, biting her lower lip. His hands caressed her thighs almost tenderly, peppering kisses all over the skin until his breath fanned against her folds.
“Oh, sweet Maker…I missed this”
Before Eyra had a chance to reply, he pressed his tongue against her clit, circling slowly, teasingly. His calloused fingers caressed her wet folds while his free arm forced her waist to the mattress. The mage huffed and writhed, letting small whimpers escape her throat.
“Alistair…” she muttered, grabbing and pulling his hair with both hands.
“I love when you say my name, my dear”
She moaned and tried to get free from his grip, only to be stronger. Alistair moved his head both sides, tapping and licking. Eyra screamed his name when she felt two fingers inside her, looking for that spot that made her mind go blank. In a few minutes, that man had the Commander of the Grey Wardens begging for release, which he gladly complied. The knot in her stomach tightened and her legs shook around Alistair’s head. His brown eyes observed her, not wanting to miss a single thing.
And oh, how he loved watching her come like that, eyes shut and hands gripping the sheets as if her life depended on it. Her chest moved as she tried to catch her breath and he rode her orgasm until she couldn’t take it any longer. When Alistair moved away, his chin was covered with her fluids and Eyra felt her whole body burning in shame.
“Oh, Maker. Are you blushing? The great Hero of Ferelden?”
“Stop mocking me” she replied with her muffled voice, as she had covered her face. He laughed and kissed her body, cupping her face.
“It was beautiful. You are beautiful”
Eyra Amell felt the sting of tears on her eyes and closed them when their lips touched. Her hands caressed his back, feeling his taut muscles. Soon they moved down the spine, raising goosebumps under the touch until they reached his ass, grabbing it.
“Hey!” Alistair shrieked with a smirk, making her laugh.
“Stop complaining, you love it” she replied, pecking at his nose before helping him remove his breeches. He stood there, kneeling by her side and Eyra couldn’t stop herself.
She pushed him until he fell on the mattress, his gaze following every single movement. She smirked and straddled him, rubbing her core against his length. Alistair gasped and grabbed her hips. Eyra placed her hands on his broad chest and, without taking his eyes off him, sank herself to the hilt. Slowly, intimately. The only sounds in the room where their breaths, rhythmic and ragged. Alistair groaned when he filled her completely.
“Maker…” he muttered, feeling his head dizzy at the feeling of her warm inside around him. “It’s been a long time…”
“Too long” said Eyra with a croaked voice, rocking her hips.
It took her a while to get used to it, but soon they moved at unison. Their bodies were like a puzzle that fit perfectly. The moans, the sweat, rolling down their bodies. The movements were deliberated, slow. They had all night to feel each other, taste each other. There was no need to rush.
His feet were on the mattress and his hips moved to meet her movements. They became faster, harder. Skin slapping skin, the sound echoing in the room. Moans, whimpers and soft words of love. Everything they wanted to say and couldn’t over the years. In that moment, they were no longer king and commander. They were just to lovers, as they were in their tents.
Eyra’s nails dragged lines over his shoulder and Alistair sat down, circling her body with his arms. His forehead against hers. One of his hands went to his small bundle of nerves and her body tensed. He knew she was close. She could feel it.
“C’mon, my love…oh, sweet Andraste…”
He pumped his hips faster and her body shivered while pleasure ran over her veins. She closed her eyes and Alistair kissed her, swallowing her moans. Her hands pulled his hair and he felt himself coming inside her, shuddering.
“Alistair…” she muttered with half-lidded eyes, peppering kisses over his face.
Without saying a word, they laid down and covered themselves with the mattress, caressing each other and making the other laugh. The following day they would have to remain serious and professional. And soon, she would leave again.
For now, that was not important. They had each other in their arms.

I believe in second chances
read on ao3 author’s note: due to popular demand (yes, four people is popular), i decided to expand on nice to meet you again with a long fic. i strongly advise you to read the one-shot before jumping into this fic because i will reference it on occasion. summary: disgraced, shamed, branded a traitor and exiled from his homeland, alistair decides to drink his life away in kirkwall. there, he meets surana, a runaway mage and single mother who just wants to help him move forward. pairing: female surana x alistair. rating: m. warnings: depression, alcoholism, hangover, some mild violence.
DENERIM, THREE YEARS AGO.
“I have no place here any longer. Not in Ferelden. Not with the Grey Wardens. Not by you.”
The disgust in Alistair’s voice as he turned his back on Amell was palpable. Looking back, he should have seen it coming. Of course, the man sleeping with Morrigan would decide to spare that traitor! And it wasn’t the first time he had played the all-forgiving judge either! He had let the blood mage, Jowan, go free after witnessing the horrors happening in Redcliffe. Alistair hadn’t said anything at the time. Amell had known Jowan almost his entire life, there was no-one better suited to make this decision. Then there had been the girl in Kinloch Hold whom, for all he knew, could have very well been a blood mage too. And long before all that, he had freed Sten without batting an eyelash, fully aware of the reasons behind his imprisonment. The Qunari had turned out to be a worthy ally, one Alistair had valued greatly, but it should have tipped him off. Their friendship had blinded him to the truth: Amell was a stupid, selfish man.
No less than five guards were escorting Alistair to the docks. He would have gone on his own, but Anora - sorry, the Queen - wanted to make sure he left her kingdom for good. He half expected one of them to stab him in the back or cut his head off before they even reached their intended destination. She wanted him dead, there was no getting around that. The only reason his head hadn’t rolled on the palace floor was because Amell had stepped in. Maybe he had felt sorry? Maybe there had been a sliver of friendship left in him? Alistair couldn’t tell, nor did he care anymore. It was over, all of it. He had never had any desire to become king, anyway. But being a warden? That he would miss most of all. Not if this is what the order stands for, I sure won’t miss it!
The guards shoved him onto a boat setting sail towards the Free Marches. Alistair spent a week in the cargo hold, drinking and puking. The ship captain almost threw him overboard when he found the mess Alistair had made of it. Instead, the disgraced prince was thrown on the streets of Kirkwall with only a few coins in his pockets. Less than an hour later, he had found his way to the nearest tavern and lost what little money he had left.

The beginning of the end
It was bad. Really, really bad. Solas activated one of the ancient artifacts, which is able to help him with removing the Veil. But something went wrong. I don't know if Solas was aware of it. I want to believe that he didn't. That he didn't want to kill us in that way. But it looks like he predicted it and have already chosen our fate. If it was "the best choice" then I don't want to know about the rest. Because this one is horribly traumatizing.
Warden: Don't come closer! It's a trap!
The spear is stuck in the ground only just a few meters away, but still has a huge impact on our team. I and Hawke was caught. We were too close to the spear. The energy is sucked out of us in a painful and the most awful way. I presume that our magic will be used against us.
Inquisitor Lavellan was next. Her scream teared Cullens heart apart. It was written all over his face. Then it attacked Morrigan, when she wanted to help me. She grabbed my hand and then it reached her and struck her down on her knees. She wasn't screaming. As expected from her.
Kieran: *moves towards his mother* Mother!
It's painful.
Alistair: *stops him* Don't move!
It's painful as hell.
Kieran: No! I must help her! *tries to get past him*
We can't move.
Alistair: *yells* I can't let my son to run into danger!
My blood is burning.
Morrigan: *looks at Alistair with widening eyes*
But we can't give up.
Warden: Alistair! *clenches her teeth* Take them away!
I can't give up and let them fall.
Alistair: *determined* I won't leave you! Not again!
I'm the Hero of Ferelden after all.
Warden: *screams* TAKE YOUR DAUGHTER AND SON AWAY FROM THIS!
I'm fed up.
Alistair: *stepped back in shock, holding Kieran and Surana behind him*
This magic is awful.
Warden: *glares at them* MOVE ON!
I can't stand it, but... I have to move.
Alistair: *withdrawed with HIS children*
I have to do something. No. I MUST. Even if it costs me my life, I will end this. But not alone. Fenris and Cullen are my only and the last option. I'm counting on them, but the thing that I have to do first is giving them the opportunity to save us.
My power is unstable and don't want to listen to me.
But I don't have the choice.
I slowly started to stand up from my knees. The pain intensified. But it couldn't stop me. At this moment I was sure that the thing that is able to stop me simply doesn't exist. It's a stupid belief, but helped me to move forward. I needed only to come a little closer.
But the closer I was the pain became stronger.
Move forward.
Just a little bit.
When I reached the monument I raised my staff above my head and then I brought it down with all my might. Magic met magic. Their sudden contact transformed into the powerful burst, which sent waves of energy in all directions. And created a way. The path from spear to the outside of energy field, in which we were trapped.
Warden: *yells* It's your only chance! Fenris! Cullen! This field is draining my mana from me! I can't hold it too long! Hurry up!
Cullen held onto his sword.
Fenris as well.
They have the same opinion about magic. She knew that but... they couldn’t ignore her and the others. Because they’re in love with the two of them. Cullen would do everything for Lavellan. And Fenris would die for Hawke. They were on the same boat and had to do the same thing. Because if they don't save them, their life will become empty again. They couldn't let it come. This empty and sad future without their beloved ones. And that's why they started to run towards the spear with sincere faith in their hearts that the Warden will stand as long as she has to. With hope that they'll make it in time.
