Very classy apt. in New York City that is Mid-century modern with just a touch of Art Deco. Those velvet chairs looks so soft in a tie-dyed pattern- they’re Italian armchairs from the 1950s. The designer was going for a Venetian look. The marble on the fireplace is gorgeous.

The apt. is in a pre-war building and features custom made wall panels in the foyer, plus a 1903 armchair. The hand-painted murals in the library beyond were inspired by Guido Crepax's 1965 "Valentina" cartoon series.

The foyer also contains a pedestal table, a 1940s screen, and a vintage Moroccan rug.

In the dining room, a 1945 table is surrounded by1940s American chairs upholstered in leather. The chandelier is 1960 and the walls are a color called Sea Haze. The mural features a quotation from Edward Gibbon's The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.

A 1940s console and Belgian armchairs of the same decade in the living room; the floor lamp is vintage.

Banquette and settee in the sitting room, plus an Italian pendant light from the 1950s, and a hand-painted ceiling.

The library's daybed is upholstered in mohair, the floor lamp is 1940s and the window shades are of a cotton duck with grosgrain ribbon trim.

Also n the library, a hand-painted mural on brass leaf depicting the façade of Venice's Doge's Palace is behind a 1957 shelving unit; the 1960 Italian chairs are covered in velvet, with a tripod table between them.

The kitchen stools and terrazzo countertop are custom made, as is the cabinetry and new oak flooring inset with mahogany that matches the existing flooring. But, that ceiling! Look at the brass inset that matches the range hood.

The tub surround and walls are granite. Isn’t the floor amazing?

A pair of 1950s mirrors and a custom floating vanity. The mosaic tile floor is based on a 1st-century Pompeian mosaic at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples.

The fabulous bedroom. The mahogany walls and gold-leaf ceiling are custom designs and the ceiling mural is based on drawings by Tintoretto. The light fixture is 1960s and the headboard is 1949.

A circa 1947 desk and chair. The 19th-century Italian bronze sculpture is one of a pair. The rug is Persian. This apt. is so chic, I can’t stand it.
