Fair Morgan, we love thee, so tried and so true 💙🧡💙🧡 Catching up with old friends and reminiscing. Despite the tragedy that took place at MSU, there are so many great things happening for MSU. Did you know Morgan aquired the Lake Clifton property which will become its "research oriented innovation park"? #morganhocospirit23 #morganstateuniversity #morganstatepride #lifeissweetinthenortheast #northeastbaltimore #baltimorelove #walkwithlocals #marylandinfocus #iheartcitylife #bmoresecretspots #explorebmore #explorenortheastbaltimore #ilovebaltimore #visitmaryland #visitbaltimore #baltimore #thebmorecreatives #bmore #citylove #discovercharmcity #charmcity #mybmore #igbmore #homesweethome #igmaryland #visitmd #visitbmore

“…down to Maryland, all the way over near Morgan State” - @rza When I heard those words on a Wu Tang song growing up, I never thought I’d actually graduate from MSU. Originally, I graduated from Saint Frances Academy and went to Frostburg State University. While out in the mountains @mattgotcameras and I took our music careers to the next level. I went by “The Black Sunn” then. I remember sitting in an english class when @official2dopeboyz posted our music. I literally jumped up and walked out of class 😂 but we started to get real traction with our grind. The show bookings came pouring in and I withdrew from the Burg because thte travel costs were CRAZY. Fast forward to 2018. After traveling the country, reinventing myself and doing nonprofit work with amazing people like @bmoreaboutlove and @ralphe.moore I reached a glass ceiling. It was then that I saw the opportunity that @morganstateu provided and decided to head back to school. In just 2 years I traveled to Cuba AND South Africa thanks to @sgjc_msu I earned money to finish school and further my own career aspirations with music. There’s no telling what the future holds (or if media will ever cover me again, I think I’m blackballed 😂) but I have the tools I need to face that uncertainty. This degree in Multiplatform Production has already helped me help others and that’s all you can really ask for. I met some amazing souls along the way that I can’t wait to put a ribbon on this experience with tomorrow. Thank you 💯🙏🏾 🎓 . . . And special shoutout to @sergioneptuna and @drstaceyppatton for challenging me to be the best version of myself possible 🐻🔷🔶 . . . #classof2020 #morganstateuniversity #morganonsocial #morgangrad2k20 #hbcugrad #fairmorgan #fyp #baltimore #maryland #college #graduation #msu #morganstate #blackexcellence (at Morgan State University) https://www.instagram.com/p/CO0tvF6Jzw6/?igshid=1mhsxcmzmbbzt

1. What location did you choose? What drew you to it? Describe what you found.
The location I chose is Golden Ring Rd and Philadelphia rd. What drew me to this location was honestly the fire station I always ride by but never actually paid it any . I found plenty of fire trucks a few fire fighters at work many of them practicing drills or going over plans for the week
2. What did you notice in your observations that you’ve never noticed before?
I never noticed that the fire station was actually so close and that there’s a rescue station so close to my house
3. What is absent that you might have expected to find?
I expected to find a bunch of equipment everywhere like hoses tools used for emergencies and a bunch of people sitting around not doing any work. But to my surprise everyone was actively doing assignments or some sort of work.
4. Can you determine anyways in which this space has been impacted by COVID-19
The only way I can think of this place being impacted by Covid-19 is possibly longer working days more time away from family due to a global pandemic

Reposted from @michellehargrove To attend an HBCU is, @kamalaharris said, to be "constantly reminded you are young, gifted and Black." And that experience, she suggested, prepared her for spending "my career in rooms where I was the only one who looked like me. I know how important it is to center our voices in the conversation as we build an America we can all see ourselves in." Both @joebiden and @kamalaharris pledge to invest BILLIONS in #hbcu and #minorityownedbusiness I know all of my friends from #howarduniversity are proud of @howard1867 Alumna Now let’s #rockthevote and make history. Greetings, my name is Karlene! I was born & lived in the Bronx, NYC for the last 8 1/2 years. I chose to attend Morgan State University to meet more people outside of New York & study multimedia journalism because I plan on becoming a sports journalist in the future. Before class, I was a little skeptical on whether I would enjoy the class or not but after class, I’m extremely excited to continue to learn more about anthropology!

Language and Gender in the Classroom #Fieldwork 4
1. The class that I chose to observe is my Math class. This class is held in Carnegie Hall, four times a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. I thought it would be best to observe the class during our Friday class because who doesn’t like Friday’s. There were approximately 20 students who attended class this Friday. There was an equal amount of females and males in the class on this day. This helped me with having a better advantage to fully observe the classroom because there was not too much nor too less of students. During class, there are usually students who are known for asking questions that most students don’t like to ask. As I took note on the students who were asking questions I found that most of those students were males. The females in the classroom were also asking questions but I saw that there were more males than females who had enough courage to ask questions during class.
2. The average time that students spoke was less than 2 minutes. I believe this is because our professor does more hands-on work. Instead of telling us what to do or how to solve the problem, he usually shows us the steps to solving problems. He then asks us if we still need help or if it is ok to move on. He does a pretty good job with detailing the equations so we understand them, so it’s really not too much of a back and forth conversation unless we are still having trouble.
3. In this class, the different body language and style of speaking between male and females students was how they would answer the questions. I noticed that the males were more open to shouting out answers whereas the female students were more hesitant. Female students also raised their hands more before answering questions. Males students were more anxious when answering questions so they would raise their hands but still shout out the answer without being called on.
4. The instructor is male. He seems to encourage female students to feel more confident and to speak more. He encourages everyone to answer and ask questions because he wants us all to truly understand what we are being taught even if it means that we have to stay on the same topic.
5. When I recorded the number of times the instructor actually called on students, I observed that he called on many of the female students versus the males. This could have been because the female students weren’t speaking out as much even though the had the correct answers.
6. I do believe that the instructor’s gender has something to do with the way the students interacted in the class. Maybe if there were a female instructor more females would have been open to ask or answer questions. I believe the males were more willing to engage because they see that it’s a male instructor and they may feel more dominant in the classroom with a male leading.
