Western Washington is not prepared for heavy winds.

We lost power yesterday, early evening. It was going to be restored by 10 PM, then 8 AM, and now they’re saying we won’t have power until Midnight tonight.

I came across this word when I was reading today and had an experience I haven’t had in literal years. Not only did I not know the meaning of this word, I’d never even heard it before. I’ve never come across it in any other reading I’ve done (that I can recall), so I thought I’d share it with all of you.

Putting this out there because my followers seem likely to know: what’s a really good book on Egyptian mythology?

My son’s birthday is coming up in a week and that’s basically the main thing he’s asked for (the main thing we can afford at any rate).

He wants something in-depth, that would also include as many of the stories as possible (so, not one of those surface-level, bare-bones descriptions kid’s books. He’s about to turn 12 but, honestly, what book would you recommend for a college student? That’s what he’s looking for).

I’d appreciate any suggestions!

The family and I went out to see this today and oh my gosh we all loved it so much. It’s so good and so fun.

Also, my son is planning on going as Deku for Halloween this year. My wife has been learning all kinds of cosplay construction skills to help create the costume.

It’s possible I’ve done something stupid.

For a long time, I’ve had it in my head to genrefy our books. So, split up the fiction and non-fiction and then further subdivide them by genre.

It makes my organizational little brain happy. I like to files things into categories.

So far, I have the Fantasy, General Fiction, and Sci-Fi sorted and on shelves. I’m thinking Mystery will be next, then maybe Romance or Graphic Novels.

But I am soaked in sweat from the sheer effort of transporting books from one side of the house to the other and I keep accidentally missing things, so I have to go back and find room, and then there’s the books that could reasonably fit into multiple genres, and Augh!

I think I’ll be happy with the end result (too late to turn back now anyway), but holy damn, this is more work than I thought it would be (somehow).

And now I’m thinking of moving an entire section because I think it would place it better in the house.

I’ve got a 101.8 fever (38.77 C)

I slept on the couch last night and I’m going to again for the next couple of nights because my wife can’t afford to be sick. So I’ve got to quarantine myself. Yay.

Long Covid also makes each illness seem to take way more of a toll, so during a time when I desperately need to be job hunting, I’m going to be lying down all day and wondering whether I’m even capable of holding a job any more.
