As we finish a decade, I keep thinking back of all the things I had gone through to welcome 2020. Graduated high school. Got a degree. Moved out when I was 18 years old. Met a lot of interesting people that became my friends and family. Fell in love. Did so many good things and also bad. Dealt with a huge life lesson that made me a better person. Lost friendships. Lost jobs. Gained new life experiences and welcomed new friends to my life. Traveled and went to so many concerts and festivals. Got engaged. Called off my wedding months after. Dealt with so much pain in 2018. That was the year that I can say I hated the most. But at the same time, it made me take care of myself. It made me stronger and realizing that I’m a fucking badass. Going to therapy helped me overcome the pain that had followed me for a very long time. I realized that some relationships can’t go as far as they can. I welcomed 2019 ready to conquer the fucking life out of it. I started my own business! Kaptured Pixel Photography! I lost so much weight! Which is still another goal to keep going and never stopping. I met the most amazing human being that God has ever put in my life. I was able to love again and feel that connection I always wanted to have with someone. I have never felt so happy. Like really happy. He has changed me and has showed me new things that I never knew before. I intend to marry this man and make us a happy home. I’m ready for 2020. Really appreciate it. ❞ Gaze riveted on his phone as he adds some carefully-crafted captions and hashtags, tone is conversation-casual now as if chatting with an old friend, ❝ Soooooooo... What brings you to Duckburg anyway? Looking to do some stuff for the biz, or just kicking back and chillaxin'? Honestly, there was no way he couldn’t have recognized Mark Beaks. Mickey may have been famous because of his father’s parks, but he kept up with other people in the sphere, mostly just to be able to say hello if someone greeted him first. But while he’d heard stories of how, exactly, the tech mogul tended to greet fellow rich folks... enthusiastically, but this was a bit beyond what the mouse anticipated. After letting out a startled little oof at being dragged close, and the sudden flash of the camera spotting his eyes, he wobbles a bit before peeking up at the parrot with wide eyes, ears tipped back a little.

“Oh, ah- no problem at all, really! Always happy to help.”

One of his more admirable weaknesses, he’d been told sometimes. He really needed to learn how to say “no” better. He was supposed to be taking the day off, after all. But what was the harm in stopping and talking? Surely this wouldn’t end up being business related. Just a couple of guys, having a talk. Nothing more than that, nothing less.

“I’m actually here to move home. I grew up in Duckburg- my parents lived uptown, not far from Mr. McDuck, but my uncle Roy had a penthouse I’m fixing up downtown. Today I’m just taking a breather.”
