Hey, you remember that spooky animatic thing that I posted forever ago for that “glimpse into the future” meme?
Yea, here you go.
Tatters was aware that genocide runs were a thing, however his Frisk always did neutral and pacifist runs. It was weird though, they kept resetting. It was a little mind-numbing watching the same things keep happening, until they suddenly changed gears.
Knowing what a genocide run is is different than watching your own timeline get brutally massacred while you can’t do a thing about it. His sanity was lost that day.
Tossed more stuff under a Read More with headcanons, music, and stuff!
Here’s the music that would play while fighting this monstrosity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRdBmveWfrU
Once intentions became clearer, Web was convinced Frisk was worth saving, and him (and hopefully a couple other void dwellers) come to aid Frisk and calm Tatters down (probably an inevitable Fight though to exhaust him first), Frisk found their grounding to stand and sincerely apologize for what they did. It doesn't change the fact that what they did was wrong (looks at Chara), but now they knew what, or who, they kept missing in their runs. They can turn things back and do something about it, if they were allowed back into the timeline. Tatters can relate to this quite well...
Frisk’s theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPweZAzId08
I did originally plan to make this an arc but pbbbbtbt man...
Thoughts on Chara:
Chara usually had good intentions, just shitty ways of executing said intentions and they also have/had difficulty managing their emotions (I mean they were just a kid too). They sacrificed themself in hopes that Asriel would get enough souls to break the barrier. When it failed, they were bitter and angry sure...but over time, yes they would forgive Asriel. However the thoughts would still stew in them, especially when Frisk arrived to the Underground. Chara was drawn to Frisk since they both shared determination as their trait.
Perhaps they could witness their parents finally having happiness so they could rest in peace...and they did.
Until reset. And another reset. And another... Reset after reset, it was painful to see them be saved only to be whisked back to their near hopeless days without any memory of the above world. Frisk seemed to be looking for something, though they didn't quite care. They just wanted it to stop.
So they came up with a brilliant plan. "Frisk, you know what you haven't tried yet? Complete and utter genocide. I know, I know, it isn't goody two-shoes of you, but look at this. You keep doing the same thing. I'm sure you'll find your answers doing something different. Let's do this together, then we can reset it and they will never remember."
And it worked. Their bitterness blinded them at times, but their plan was to scare Frisk into resetting, preforming a pacifist run, and never resetting again. They needed to stop looking for something that wasn't there. In fact, as Chara gained a stronger hold of Frisk's soul, they could feel their own Save inching closer. A Save that would undo everything. The second war on humans wouldn't begin, they wouldn't lose themself and Asriel. Maybe, just maybe...
But before they could reach it, the void-like emptiness of the timeline and Tatters’ rage stretched the barrier just thin enough for him to break into the timeline and drag them both into the void before being sucked back in. Chara lied about there being answers or that Frisk would find what they were looking for, but oh boy did they find it.
Probably unpopular opinion though, I don’t view Chara as the devil incarnate. Just a poor child going through grief they can’t find relief from which in turn morphs into nasty emotions/behaviors that eventually bite them and others in the arse.
Tatters’ appearance:
The reason for Geno!Tatters' vague gaster-blaster-like appearance is influenced from Web. Back then, Web was the definition of anger/rage, and whether it was outwardly spoken or not, Web's shifted form was scary to Tatters, so Tatters subconsciously reformed with that in mind. Or at least made an attempt, he's not a multi-bodied construct so even void-bound this is quite a feat triggered by his emotions.
As the core of this sector of the Void, his form spread across the whole thing. He became the sector. The mass of writhing tendrils filled with teeth and ever-watching eyes was intended to keep others out or at least incredibly hard to get in undetected.
Needless to say probably but wow did these guys need some therapy after all of this.
