have some sympathy, Davrin, a tragedy has occurred 😔
HOWEVER, I think they would be repressing so much stress during veilguard that stepping on a snail in that moment would become kind of the last straw. not talking from personal experience at all
yayy oc rambling
anyway, i think Zea normally wouldn't like. cry about accidentally killing a little creature like a snail. Like, they would be sad, but you know, cest la vie, the mere fact of existing brings with it many small accidental deaths that we just have to come to terms with, if we notice them at all.

I'm on book 5 of the Temeraire series and wow I didn't realise this became a comedy:
Laurence: poor Temeraire, alone, friendless, surely fighting every other beast with no hope of order or discipline he's become accustomed to
Temeraire: *currently embroiled in a dragon court case that's turning their sense of justice on a head*
#youve enlightened a perfectly good dragon thats what youve done look at him hes got a sense of human justice#laurence and temeraire just keep making each other worse (actually restoring each others moral compass)#i love them so so so much#temeraire#his majesty's dragon

What would they do with the Death Note?
Demons Edition
Nikolai Stavrogin: would be interested and grill the Shinigami for information, but ultimately would not use it and give it away as soon as he grew bored with it.
Ivan Shatov: would fall into a crisis of fate upon learning that there are Shinigamis. Would, of course, not use the Death Note and would probably destroy it. Before that, however, he would have one tiny moment of doubt and consider whether God sent him the notebook to make him his weapon. Would then have a mental breakdown and blame himself for the rest of his life.
Alexei Kirilow: would not use the Death Note, but would probably become friends with the Shinigami who brought it to him. They would have long discussions about life, death and morality. He would also not bother to hide that he can see the Shinigami, furthering his status as a perceived lunatic.
Liza Tushina: Would start writing a name of someone she doesn't like in a moment of passion, panick, erase the name and have a breakdown.
Darya Shatova: Would not use the Death note. Would hide it somewhere.
Stepan Verkhovensky: would launch into an extensive lecture about morality, the failures of man and if God exists, boring the Shinigami so much that they would write his name into the death note.
Warwara Petrovna: would not use the Death Note. Would, however, give the Shinigami a stern talking-to and embarrass them so much that they would end up leaving her alone and very ashamed of themselves.
Pyotr Verkhovensky: would absolutely use the death note. Would stage a Kira-like plan, but with the difference that he would kill basically everyone who does not agree with him, furthering his revolutionistic goals. Would also probably do some really weird and gross mind control shit concerning Stavrogin once he's gone completly insane.

The Philosophy of Ubuntu
The philosophy of Ubuntu is a traditional African ethical and philosophical concept that emphasizes community, interconnectedness, and shared humanity. Originating from the Bantu languages of southern Africa, the term "Ubuntu" can be translated as "I am because we are" or "humanity towards others." It reflects the belief that an individual's identity and well-being are deeply rooted in their relationships with others and that the community's welfare is integral to the individual's welfare.
Key Concepts in the Philosophy of Ubuntu:
Interconnectedness:
Communal Identity: Ubuntu posits that individuals are intrinsically linked to their communities. A person is not seen as an isolated entity but as part of a larger social fabric. This interconnectedness means that one's actions affect others, and the community's well-being is vital to each individual's well-being.
Relational Ontology: The concept suggests that being human is fundamentally about relationships with others. One's existence and identity are defined through interaction and connection with other people.
Human Dignity and Respect:
Inherent Worth: Ubuntu emphasizes the inherent dignity of every human being. It advocates for treating others with respect, compassion, and empathy, recognizing that everyone shares a common humanity.
Mutual Respect: In Ubuntu, respect is not merely a social nicety but a fundamental ethical obligation. Treating others with dignity is seen as essential to maintaining harmony and community cohesion.
Collective Responsibility:
Shared Responsibility: Ubuntu promotes the idea that members of a community have a collective responsibility for each other’s welfare. This includes supporting those in need, resolving conflicts through dialogue and reconciliation, and fostering an environment where everyone can thrive.
Ethics of Care: The philosophy encourages an ethic of care, where individuals actively contribute to the well-being of others, understanding that their own well-being is tied to the community's overall health.
Social Harmony and Reconciliation:
Peace and Reconciliation: Ubuntu values social harmony and seeks to resolve conflicts through restorative rather than retributive justice. The goal is to restore relationships and repair the social fabric, often through forgiveness and reconciliation.
Consensus Building: Decision-making within an Ubuntu framework often involves consensus-building processes, where the views of all community members are considered, and solutions are sought that benefit the collective.
Solidarity and Cooperation:
Unity and Cooperation: Ubuntu emphasizes solidarity, cooperation, and unity among people. It encourages collaborative efforts in all aspects of life, from family and community to work and governance, with the understanding that collective action leads to greater success and fulfillment.
Generosity and Sharing: The philosophy promotes generosity and sharing of resources, knowledge, and support, reflecting the belief that prosperity is achieved through collective effort.
Humanism and Morality:
Moral Framework: Ubuntu provides a moral framework that stresses the importance of kindness, generosity, and ethical behavior. It encourages individuals to act in ways that enhance the community’s well-being and to avoid actions that harm others.
Human-Centered Philosophy: Ubuntu is deeply humanistic, focusing on the value and dignity of each person and the importance of fostering positive human relationships.
Application in Modern Contexts:
Leadership and Governance: Ubuntu has been influential in shaping leadership and governance in post-apartheid South Africa and other African nations. Leaders inspired by Ubuntu prioritize the welfare of their people, seek to heal divisions, and promote social justice.
Global Relevance: While rooted in African traditions, the principles of Ubuntu have been embraced globally as a model for ethical leadership, conflict resolution, and community building. It offers a counterpoint to individualistic and competitive models of society by emphasizing cooperation, empathy, and the common good.
Ubuntu in Philosophy and Ethics:
Comparative Ethics: Ubuntu is often compared with other ethical systems, such as Confucianism, which also emphasizes the importance of relationships and community. It offers a unique perspective on ethics that prioritizes collective well-being over individual autonomy.
Challenges and Critiques: Some critiques of Ubuntu focus on its potential for communal pressure to conform, possibly at the expense of individual freedom. Others argue that while Ubuntu provides a strong ethical foundation, it must be adapted to fit modern, diverse societies.
The philosophy of Ubuntu offers a profound and holistic approach to understanding human relationships, ethics, and community. It underscores the importance of interconnectedness, mutual respect, and collective responsibility, providing a framework for fostering social harmony and promoting the common good. Ubuntu's principles are increasingly recognized and applied beyond African contexts, resonating with global movements toward more compassionate, cooperative, and just societies.

Even though Mystique was also a victim to Razor and his crew, though not out there or physically, should she still be viewed as a monster in everyone's eyes since she kinda knew her brother's disgusting behavior? Does she deserve everything that comes to her, even if that means harm from the Clan cats (especially from the other Clans if or whenever they find out RisingClan captured the city cat's leader sister?) I'm not asking as an author, but if someone like her was a real person in the real world
No, absolutely not. Mystique is not the enemy. She's just a privileged and ignorant person who hasn't had to deal with the ramifications of the system she benefits from and supports. She does not deserve "everything that comes to her", honestly I don't think anybody does. I think that talking about "what people deserve" isn't productive or helpful at all. If we want to commit to restorative justice we need to divest ourselves from the concept of people getting "what they deserve" and instead focus on what makes society safest for everyone.
So while it's super understandable that people see her as harmful or hard to be around, especially cats like Scorch and Aldertail who have specific trauma related reasons to feel that way, and I will continue to defend their right to feel how they want about her, I think the way she "should" be viewed is as someone who has heretofore been unaware of the harm she and her brother have caused and who needs kindness and understanding as she starts to work on herself and learn to be a better person. She should still be held accountable for the wrongs she did but she should also be extended compassion and patience while she makes them right.
#not art#asks and answers#anon asks#Mystique#wow what a big question#please don't take me as the end all be all when it comes to moral philosophy#there are a lot of people who actually study this stuff and have more educated positions on the topic of restorative justice#I just do my best i am by no means an expert

I love how HSR characters are utterly over the top but are also serious at the same time because their motivations and beliefs which these funny behaviours stem from are never ridiculed.
I mean look at Argenti, he's basically a host in armor with a PhD in theatrics, but his main motivation to find Idrilla is never made fun of by the story itself even when we learn later that there's a high chance that Aeon died.
#honkai star rail#hsr#I really really enjoy how star rail characterizes it's characters#because there's some sort of conflict within all of them#and a lot are morally grey as well#most of the Genius society fall into that category#the stellaron hunters are anti heroes#Topaz is a debt collector for the IPC a huge intergalactic mega corp. that enslaves the population of entire planets to rescue those planets#Bronya lied to her people about Cocolia to keep the peace and for a chance to restore belobog to it's former glory#I love hsr so much man

keegan brainrot is hitting so bad rn....
#he's so cool#but no one liked cod:ghosts 💔💔💔#i think its cool though.... if you look at it as more than a cod game....#ultimate usa fear that the global south fights back and destroys them... the reversal of global power dynamics...#the unintentional humanisation of enemies by reversing the usual roles of american dominance and dehumanisation of anyone against them....#you can get so many questions and debates out of it if you just look for them 💔💔#like whether restorative justice should be punitive since that's kind of whats being done to the usa in that which makes you wonder if its#right or just bc for once the bad thing is happening to the 'good guys'#and also odin would so count as a wmd and it's interesting to see that wmds get implicitly painted as horrific when its in the us military#backed propaganda video game but then again cod has harry potter morality logic where the good guys are always justified and their actions#are good no matter how horrific because they are the narrative good guys and vice versa#ahem anyways more keegan ass please 🙏🙏#keegan p russ#cod ghosts#cod: ghosts

Very interesting ideas about restorative vs punitative criminal justice being offered by the first few eps of this season of Invincible so far. Though I am not entirely sure this particular show is equipped to handle the discussion, I am fascinated by the attempt nevertheless
#and restorative justice is the morally grey option#while punitative is the naive yet morally pure option#kind of unusual to see it this way round#trees watches invincible#invincible#invincible s03#invincible animated series#myposts

i’m gonna be so disappointed if surge and kit turn good
let them cause chaos. let them shake the restoration to its core. let sonic question his morals because something devastating happens because he gave them a second chance.
#surge the tenrec#kitsunami the fennec#kit the fennec#idw#idw sonic#the restoration better be in SHAMBLES by the time they’re done#and sonic having a moral crisis as a treat#second one probably won’t happen but i can dream#and write a fanfic

we’re pretty early in our bg3 campaign but i have fantasy au brainworms again… i just think it’s funny that my leland lore is that he ran away from his noble upbringing bc his dad sucks and he thought he could train to be a paladin because you just do what’s right, right? and then smash cut to the first time he gets into a situation where he isn’t 100% lawful good and breaks his oath trying to intervene in a situation that turns violent. literally day one. guy who is sitting in the corner of camp pouting bc oathbreaker knight was sort of intimidating and mean to him. and man dad’s gonna be so disappointed because first i ran away and then i failed at being a devotion paladin. and i can’t talk to my god so i guess i feel empty inside all the time basically!!! but at least i have my friends :’) that’s the most important thing!
#but also he’s wrestling with the idea of like. why should the price of getting my oath back be gold? isn’t it about your actions?#anyway i found a cute mod for giving paladin an ‘oath of love’ which might be something he takes instead bc devotion was … too lawful#there are grey areas to morality!!! it’s hard having empathy for everyone you ever meet!!!#he might also stay oathbreaker idk it’s a funny nerf to have. maybe he can earn a multiclass later#he doesn’t want his friends to spend the money they’ve earned as a party on him bc He broke his oath… yk#(i personally think u should be able to get ur honour restored from doing a big narrative action but that’s just meeee and bg3 is a game)

Not playing Black Eagles will make you miss some important info as well as some really strong moment! You won't have the great exclusive support featuring two sad boy you don't have in Blue Lions ( Hubert and Jeritza ) and since you like the Blue Lions, the tragedy while sad is really worth watching with interesting dialog and scene, especially if you recruit Ingrid, Sylvain or Felix... Also if you want to have more about Mercedes, she's really worth recruiting to Black Eagles route specifically for a certain someone. Plus the Black Eagles cast is seriously incredible, don't sleep on them! Though Golden Deers route is also 100% worth it, there's no "better route" in this game regarding story and characters.
Hubert's not my sad boy he's a racist :(. I do not claim him in my tupperware of sad boys.
But thanks for the tip! I'm honestly one of those people who can barely even watch the Office or Nathan For You because I have such a strong reaction to cringe comedy. I hate it. I can't watch it at all. Doing The Bad Thing in video games is such an extension of it. You should have seen me play Disco Elysium. It was awful. The game requests discomfort from you and wants you to sit with that discomfort, and baby did I. I'm also genuinely not a huge gamer and I'm pretty selective about my time commitments though.
Pity. I know I could write some fic that fucked super hard if I went into that. Alas, limited hours in the day I choose to spend at the club.
#it's so funny how theres a wholeass character who just shows up and then disapears mysteriously#and you have to play one route and recruit one character to understand remotely what's up with that#my asks#for moral and restorative justice reasons i recruited petra and saved her from perdition#shan't let my girl be on a team with microaggressors

i do think we could get something interesting out of making people who like worm read strong female protagonist. worm is 100% better i think and much of my read of sfp is just me critically picking it to shreds but alison greene is like. you know how taylor realizes she can use the Power Of Incredible Violence to literally just force people to do what she wants. alison greene is like if a superhero figured that one out and then had a sort of incredibly stupid moral crisis over the ethical implications of it. i like dissecting her about half as much as i like dissecting taylor. i think becoming a communist could fix alison greene. also crucially it has a dyke with cool powers in it. also crucially it has a guy whose powers fundamentally alter his relationship to personhood in it. i need to reread sfp and drag ollie along with me is what i need to do.
#this is not necessarily a sfp Endorsement per se. there are many things about it i like#but i would argue the appeal of watching a bunch of capes argue about morality in nuanced ways drops a bit#when you realize that most of them would be fixed by just like#Becoming communists or learning about restorative justice or figuring out it's ok to punch nazis. or whatever#but#like#if you like picking Narratives and such apart. dissecting what's going on w/ each character is pretty fun!#and also there's capeshit. some of the capeshit is interesting. i do like some of the capeshit.#and also there's patrick in it. i like patrick.#patrick isn't alec-adjacent but he is alec-diagonal
