says shit like "you can't trust those assholes out there" meanwhile he is one of those assholes, ogling you in little shorts and feeling you up as a "joke" because that's just what siblings do. you never understood why your friends gave bewildered looks during sleepovers or made excuses to call their parents to come pick them up early because toji barked too loudly about something you guys were doing, making their hair stand up on end. you try to tell them "he's all bark, no bite," but they don't believe you. they shouldn't.

i'm imagining a rather neglectful/unsavory parental situation in the past. toji got the worst of it before you were born, and after you were old enough to bring a spoon to your own mouth, they stopped paying attention. toji envies how they more or less left you alone instead of doing whatever it was they did to him. but he's thankful, too, for your sake.

so he's been your supervisor since before he ever should've been—not that he's particularly great at it, but you can't complain about how he's helped keep you alive despite the ever-present instinctive urge to primarily look out for himself. but he figures you didn't ask for any of it either, the two of you always stuck there together, so he might as well throw you a bone.

but when you begin to grow out of training bras and disney channel, he really starts getting selfish.

HELLO MY WONDERFUL PRECIOUS sorry i didn’t answer this last night i was so damn tired fjdndjskks

but omg okay so weekends are reserved for family fun time <3 aka all the little birdies are forced to get together and do activities because mother says so. also in my fantasy land i don’t work on weekends, so this is actually possible LMAO

on saturday we’ll usually go out and do something or maybe stay home and do like a movie marathon or game night or something like that. it depends on the activity but we usually end up leaving the house sometime in the early afternoon because it takes everyone a while to get ready, but i’ve devised a plan that somewhat moves everything along a little bit faster

belphie and nagi have to get their asses up. i usually employ the help of either tanjiro or suga for this because they’re good motivators while also being capable of gentleness to avoid irritation. hajime can also be good for tasks like these.

denki has to decide which jacket and cologne he wants to wear. hajime has to fix his hair. oikawa’s taking mirror selfies. i have to be kissy kissy with katsuki to keep him from blowing up because “all you damn extras are taking too long” etc. even tho i'm lowkey feeling the same way. it’s a whole process truly, like taking a huge family with lots of children out

some of my good boys like megumi are just sitting off to the side waiting because he in particular has been up since 6am. yuuta’s there with him because that bitch barely sleeps

i usually try to have everybody ready to go by a certain time, but depending on the progress that’s made we sometimes split up. hajime or someone will be like “you go ahead and take those guys and i’ll get everyone else rounded up. we’ll be right behind you.” so me and my little brigade of punctual/efficient babies are loading up in the van to go to the mall or whatever LOL

sundays are way more chill like everyone is just getting up whenever they want and tanjiro will probably try to make two or three different waves of breakfast because he feels bad if somebody misses it fkdjdkdjdn i’m like “tanjiro it’s okay they can just have cereal” but he’s literally already cracking eggs into the pan

everyone’s mostly just chilling around watching tv/movies or playing games with some designated chores mixed in. it’s not an organized family event but it may end up being a whole group thing depending on what we’re watching or doing. even katsuki’s competitive ass cannot resist a mario kart tournament or something djdjsksjje

anyways yeah we’re a big insane family but it’s so much fun <3 oh and we usually have a nice homemade dinner on sunday evening!!! most everyone ends up pitching in one way or another whether it be cooking or setting the table because they’re not allowed near the stove lmfao

most of the kuwei hate in this fandom is absolutely racially motivated and most of it is probably subconscious but i NEED to talk about this.

and not because i think people r thinking "i hate kuwei!! he's asian and i hate asians!!" tbh most anti asian racism on the internet goes way deeper than that.

basically, what i believe to be the most prominent type of racism against asians, especially on the internet, is stereotyping. specifically "uwu-ification." the east asian entertainment industry likes to paint asian people as cute, submissive and sweet because it markets disturbingly well to american audiences, and whether people mean to or not, they internalize it and it affects the way they think of asian people as a whole. This mostly happens to east and southeast asian women, but definitely a lot with men too, especially in more recent years with the whole yaoi culture thing (i fucking hated typing that) becoming more popular. simply put, it's fetishization.

so how does this relate to kuwei? well, when kuwei is introduced to us, and im not gonna dance around it— he is pretty stereotypically asian. he's shy, innocent, small, good at math/science and— you guessed it— no speaka engrish. leigh bardugo lays the perfect trap for fandom white girl weeaboos to gush over this guy. once i came across a modern au where kuwei's whole northern chinese-mongolian ass is a "shy japanese transfer student." i really wish i was making this up.

but then we find out that kuwei is actually a conniving little shit who is really quite terrible at science and spends all day making shitty drawings of his crush instead of doing math or wtv. The turning point where we are told this is the jesper kiss. This is the point where we find out kuwei is not the yaoi uwu baby we thought he was. and how does fuckin 2/3 of the fandom react?? hate. instant hate. If you search "i hate kuwei" on twitter there are tweets both defending and attacking him, but there is significantly more of the latter.

most of them claim to hate him for kissing jesper but like... jesper kissed him. He doesn't say anything because, in his own words, "we're all probably going to die anyway." does no one see how tragic that is?? he let his first (probably) kiss be taken by someone who he knew didn't even like him because he thought it would be the only one he'd ever get.

and yet the only thing people see is that he "got in the way" of wesper and he's evil. throughout the series kuwei is given no agency, and that's the point of his character. everyone on the planet treats him as a weapon or a bargaining chip. he gets tossed around like a rag doll and to white (or otherwise not asian) audiences, that makes him the perfect picture of a little asian cutie i almost vomited typing that holy shit. but the moments where he takes something for himself— insisting on going to ravka, kissing jesper back— that's what makes people hate him. and don't even get me started on the way people project their hatred onto the other crows, especially wylan. yall will act like wylan loathes kuwei with all his being. he doesn't!! wylan is not a hateful person and he always defends kuwei!! but nooo, kuwei sucks and he deserves it for daring to be a person instead of an idea.

and hey?? guess what?? kuwei was NEVER in the way of wesper. there was no love triangle. narratively speaking, there was never any threat that kuwei would end up with jesper instead of wylan. never ever. the kiss was literally only put there to create drama for wylan and jesper. we never even hear how kuwei feels about it. stop using that as an excuse to hate on kuwei when we can all see it's because you're subconsciously mad at an asian person not being nice.

also disliking kuwei does not automatically make you racist, im just saying a lot of hatred towards kuwei is rooted in racism.

adorable. and he’s so freaked about it too but baby’s kinda just chilling LOL

imagine him as a babysitter or first-time dad. he has no fucking idea what he’s doing and he’s grouchy as usual but is SO protective over the kid actually. in true tsundere spirit, sakura’s like “yeah okay whatever…..” but the moment it makes a weird noise or something almost happens he’s like “OH MY GOD OH MY GOD ARE YOU OKAY”

also he would throw hands over the baby so fast. i think it would be hilarious if the kid was strapped to his back too, like he’d be kicking and throwing punches and baby’s just back there giggling because it’s like being on a fun ride. sakura’s trying to go easy and not jar the little thing around too much which is affecting his fighting, and he’s like “you think this is funny????”

ume’s more of the chill guy because he’s dealt with kids before. i mean he definitely has his overprotective moments, but sakura’s more of the “oh my god why is it coughing?????” neurotic type while ume’s just like “it’s fine, she just drank a little too fast” LOL however… sometimes ume is like “……omg you’re right what if it’s covid or something” because neither of them are immune to the anxiety and idiocy of fatherhood

sakura takes 10 minutes to get the baby dressed because he’s afraid of breaking it. hajime takes it out to the garden and lets it play in the dirt (fun fact when i was little my grandma did this with me and she let me make “dirt angels” until i was completely covered) etc. everyone is doing their best !!!
