is your OC good at hiding her feelings to Rocky or are there signs
Tumblr media
Well... Miss Lunanova really sucks at hiding her love.
On a more serious note, Innocence when she met Rocky couldn't help but feel grateful to Rocky for being her guide in a world she didn't know, tolerating her, taking care of her and occasionally entertaining her with very evil jokes (like throwing snow at her the same way he did with Freckle). And being from a place as warm and expressive with love as Mexico, she was not ashamed in her innocence to show that she loved him and cared for him.
But moving on to the more current arc of her Lore (1927) she really likes to show her love in different ways like washing and fixing his clothes and believing his lies.
Why would a "cute" violinist always end up so beaten up?
And he is pretty good convincing "Lady Selene", He is half aware that she loves him and cares for him and he... loves her but for now she is not his main focus of concern for now (We all know that for now Mitzi May and the Lackadaisy are his mind).
It's complicated, Rocky is complicated but Innocence is easy and we can sum it all up in that yes, she is not good at hiding her feelings towards him because she really doesn't hide them.
Ps. I'm excited 🤧 it's my first question about "Lady Selene" I hope I have resolved your doubt, and if you have more questions I will gladly answer ^^
ANOTHER PS. Part of their relationship is very much based on the lyrics of Metric's 'Lost Kitten', very much from Inno's point of view.

Ningyo Hime: Adolescence Chronicles
Tumblr media
November nineteen twenty-three
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
In a freight car on a train headed straight to God knows where.
Inocencia's Diaries.
...
I feel a little anxious because I can’t sleep. Maybe it’s because I slept the whole way to the United States. It felt like being thrown into a river inside a box, with all the bumps, pushes, ups, and downs. I can’t remember how many times I felt things being put on top of me. I really thought, “What if all this stuff squashes me?”
There’s not much to say about the trip. It was just... a lot of nothing. My biggest worry, like I said, was not getting squished into mush. Then I fell asleep. Sleeping was the best thing I could do to pass the time.
And then I saw them.
I think nobody likes finding people hiding in the cargo. I bet they don’t get paid enough to deal with someone like me. They just looked at me, and I looked at them. Before I could stretch or rub my eyes, the biggest one grabbed my arm and, like I was floating, threw me on the floor next to my bag.
He shouted something I didn’t understand and waved his hands, like saying, “Go!”
And who was I to say no?
I ran. I ran in any direction. The hallways were cold and empty, and the air pushed at my back, like it wanted me gone, too.
And, again, who was I to ignore what the air was telling me?
When I started seeing more people, I slowed down. I couldn’t keep running forever. I had to look around this new place.
I walked, but my walking wasn’t very good. Any explorer would be embarrassed for me. My back was bent, and my legs felt wobbly, like my steps were more like licking the ground than stepping on it.
And what did I find?
It looked like all the men were made from the same artist. Their hair was stuck to their heads, and a few spiky pieces fell over their sweaty, wrinkly foreheads. Each one had their own reason for frowning. Their colors didn’t change much—brown, black, or gray. The women had a little more color—but only a little. The most colorful things were their lipstick, which wasn’t always perfect, or the tired shadows under their eyes.
I thought maybe they all looked like this because nobody here stayed long enough to care how they looked.
I couldn’t blame them. My dress used to be blue, but now it was covered in gray. I don’t even know where the gray came from. The pink on my sleeves was dirty, too.
So it was just me and them, just passing through this place.
I stopped for a moment and leaned against a pillar, only to realize I had sat down on the floor.
And I kept watching.
I had no idea what to do. I didn’t speak their language, and I didn’t know where to go.
Everyone kept moving back and forth, but nobody stayed to look at anything special.
I watched them, and they didn’t notice me. Until I saw someone who wasn’t like the others.
I’m embarrassed to write about him. I could, but he’s close by, and I don’t want anyone else to read this. I’ll try my best.
His hair wasn’t stuck to his head. He was standing there, looking at a small map stuck to what I think is the ticket office for passenger trips. He was mumbling something, and he didn’t have much with him, just a small suitcase and the case for what looked like a violin.
I couldn’t stop looking at him. There was something about him that made me keep staring.
And then, by chance, he turned and looked at me, too.
Was he also someone who watched, while everyone else just passed by?
I got really nervous when I saw him walking toward me. He stopped right in front of me.
He said something, but I didn’t understand it.
I blinked a few times, and I guess he noticed I was confused.
He smiled and held out his hand.
And what was stopping me from taking it?

Hi ^^ You could say this is a little taste of the first part of my two-part Innocence Lunanova/Moonlotov fanfic series called "Ningyo Hime". This first part explores adolescence, exploring new surroundings, adapting and coping with adversity as she develops a friendship with someone as lost as she is. I wouldn't know if I would categorize this fanfic as romantic even though she falls in love with him from here on but well... He doesn't explicitly reciprocate, he's not very aware of it until the second part where she is older and already has a more established life and Rocky is already in Lackadaisy.
Oh yeah... And I thought it was funny to call the couple Moonlotov, Moon for Innocence who I have very linked to lunar symbology (Rocky also has a very heavy lunar load and I love that , it's also the reason why I like to nickname them Moonchilds) and the Lotov... Well you understand what is a Molotov.
The story will have a normal narration but will also be casually interrupted by Innocence's diaries as in this prologue.

Ningyo Hime: Adolescence Chronicles
Chapter two
Tumblr media
Lunanova Diaries
According to Rocky, we’re already in Illinois, one step closer to that place he wants to go.
I can feel a small ray of sunrise sneaking through some hole in the ceiling. It feels warm and tiny, though it won’t last long.
I’ll soon be plunged back into darkness.
But I don’t mind.
I’ve always lived in it. My mom wouldn’t let me leave the room, and the only sun I could touch was what filtered through the curtains.
I could only visit the sea at night because the rays of the sun were too much for someone like me.
Could anyone else consider themselves a creature of the night like I do?
I don’t really like the title, but nothing else fits me better.
When stepping off the train car, Innocence’s numb legs still didn’t want to fully wake up. She timidly climbed down with Rocky’s help and lifted her gaze slightly to the sky—a blue of the same grimy gray as her dress, blending with a deep orange.
She then looked at Rocky, and he smiled at her.
“We’re here, little lamb,” he said, grinning. “Not that we’ll stay too long, just enough until we reach St. Louis.”
Innocence just nodded, and they began leaving the Illinois train station.
As they walked and went deeper into the city, Innocence kept looking around, observing everyone and everything again. The people looked so tall and differed greatly from those at the train station. The men were a simpler sight at first glance, but they strutted alongside their women with perfectly ironed suits and not a hair out of place, exuding an inexplicable grace. On the other hand, the grand ladies on their gloved arms cast sharp glances at store windows and their offerings. She even locked eyes with one of them, who simply frowned and went back to her business.
“Why doesn’t Rocky look like them?” she thought, then continued observing.
Turning a corner, they came across a group of young girls whom Innocence could swear were her age. Leaning against the wall of a nearby café, they laughed loudly and blew smoke from their heart-shaped lips.
What a show!
With angular, short cuts of gleaming waves or others straighter, they passed a lighter from hand to hand, lifting their skirts slightly to reveal made-up knees to any minimally handsome man, then dissolving into laughter at jokes only they understood.
“Hey, darlin’!” one of them called out, shouting directly at Rocky, who stopped with a small smile. “Are you free tonight? You know... for dancing and all that.” The complete stranger showed a little more of her legs as she spoke, and Rocky chuckled along with her but shook his head.
“I don’t doubt you could dance for nights on end, but I’ve got things to do,” he replied, walking away while tipping his hat and then putting it back on. Innocence, who had been staring back, even received a blown kiss from one of the girls.
The spectacle made her blush and turn her gaze away.
After wandering and wandering with no apparent direction, they reached a more desolate and darker part of the city center, with the sky now fully black. Together, they ventured into a cold alley that made Innocence shiver slightly.
“Look, little lamb,” Rocky said, turning to face her. Behind him was the door to an old abandoned warehouse. “I don’t really know what your habits for living were like before we met, but this is all we’ve got for now. Maybe we can find something better as we keep exploring.”
Rocky smiled again, as he always did, pointing at the warehouse door, then at her and himself, as if translating everything he had just said.
He opened the door and let her go in first. Truthfully, there was nothing remarkable inside—just dust, cobwebs, and who knows what else.
The slight tapping of their old shoes against the floor conveyed nothing to Innocence. From Rocky’s tone, she guessed they might both spend some time here, maybe to sleep.
Then, an unfamiliar sensation wrapped around her—a fabric that had once been thicker now rested on her shoulders.
“I thought you’d be cold, little lamb,” Rocky said, walking a bit to stand in front of her. “It doesn’t look bad on you; I like how it fits... though you’re missing something.”
Rocky took off the blue scarf around his neck and wrapped it gently around hers. Innocence’s gaze seemed to search for an explanation for his kindness, her eyes barely peeking out from the thickness of the scarf as if demanding an answer.
“Oh, don’t worry, little lamb. You don’t have to return the favor or anything. Your voluntary company is enough for me.”
They both looked around a bit; there wasn’t much to explore. Rocky sat on a wooden crate, pulled out a violin, and began inspecting it before positioning it to play a few notes into the air.
“Well, looks like I’m a little rusty,” he said, glancing at Innocence. She opened her eyes wider, curious about the instrument. “Do you like violins? A vagabond gave it to me recently. It’s new... well, for my hands, it’s new.”
Rocky played a bit more, and a string snapped.
“Well, I didn’t really want to play anything right now anyway... I’ll figure out how to fix it later.” He put the instrument back in its case.
Innocence watched him apologetically until a sudden thought illuminated her mind.
How could she have forgotten?
She pulled out a small lyre from her bag, nestled among the soft white fabrics of her dress.
“Do you want me to play something?” she ventured to ask.
Innocence brought the lyre closer.
“Are you going to play it?” Rocky asked with a smile, standing up, and they both leaned against a wall, sitting on the ground.
She sighed and began to play a wordless lullaby, a rhythm that felt like a gentle invocation to sleep.
After a few minutes, she glanced at him.
Rocky lay asleep beside her.
“Rocky? Can you hear me?” she asked, shaking him gently, but the young man was already in Hypnos’s embrace.
She watched him shiver slightly, now left with nothing to protect himself from the night’s cold.
Innocence hesitantly scooted closer and hugged him, feeling his head fall against her chest. She struggled to make the coat cover both their backs and simply kept holding him.
The faint squeak of a little mouse reached her ears. Innocence looked at the tiny creature and smiled, placing her finger over her lips.
The mouse seemed to understand and curled up in a small corner.
His hair was as dark as the sea at night, and his eyes shone with the intensity of the starry sky.
Holding him in my arms was a sensation I never asked for but clearly needed.
Oh, God!
Is this what they call young love?
Who is this stranger who has come to invade my thoughts?
Is this how the little mermaid felt when she held the prince?
Is this how she loved him?
I’m also in a place I don’t understand.
I just hope I don’t become invisible to him.
If this falls into someone else’s hands, they’ll probably think I’m very silly and cheesy.
Please, understand me!
Only a young girl inexperienced in love could write something like this.
My communication is limited, and for now, this is the only way I can express myself.
I can’t get ahead of myself; I must keep getting to know him.
End of the Lunanova Diaries.
...
Hi ^^ I want to clarify that I had to replace the harp with the lyre because it is smaller and easier to transport, but it is still canon for Inno that she can play the harp ^^

Does Innocence ever try to show physical affection to Rocky? (hugs, holding his hand, etc.)
Tumblr media
Thanks for asking dear Anon ^^
It's one thing that she doesn't bother to hide that she loves him vehemently, but it's another thing... directly touch him.
Let's say she is able to hug him with a little sadness but she knows that he doesn't mind. After all, (before the main story in 1923) when it was cold they slept hugging each other because they had no other choice (it never bothered her even though she had just met him).
But when they get more mushy, she very shyly likes to hold his hands and might be able to just hold them for hours. In general, sometimes she have to have light contact with him because well... He always seems to have been hit by a train *wink wink* and someone needs to take care of him because otherwise he is capable of putting saliva on his wounds.
It's already more of a vice for her, she likes to touch Rocky's hair (and sometimes caress his eyebrows) because it reminds her of her mother's hair.
And going too far into trust, she likes to give him little kisses of comfort in the cheek or forehead because for her he is just an angel who needs comfort and wouldn't kill a fly (it's not true but the comfort thing is true).
Rocky is definitely the man who stole the Moon... Not on purpose.
And yet they are not a couple yet.
Oh well, I don't know... I feel like I'm lying to you. 🩷🩵✨ They live in their own Fairy Tale *wink wink*

How does Rocky react the first time Innocence kissed him, hold his hand and played with his hair?
(sorry for the long question)
Oh hi ^^ don't worry, i like long asks. 🩷🩵✨
Well, I've tried to keep the ideals of the Rocky canon in my Au so as not to stray from its original concept (obviously failing miserably in favor of the fanservice itself, which is fun but only that).
So I'll go in chronological order as always ^^ before (when they met 1923-1924) and the now (1925-1927)
Adolescence Chronicles 1923-1924🌙
Regarding hugs, it seems that Rocky loves hugs (the hugsperiment 🤓) and it didn't seem like a bad idea to him that a complete stranger girl who didn't seem dangerous (she was in more danger for being with him) held him at night when they sleep together in weird places.
After all, little by little he began to understand her and to understand that she was also looking for a place where she could be accepted and tolerated like him.
So he kidnapped her xD
It is worth noting that during this time they never gave each other "little kisses" like those in 1927 because for him, Innocence was just a little girl who reminded him of Freckle in that time.
1925 🌙
Then came the "separation" with Rocky almost joining the Lackadaisy and leaving her with Mrs. Bapka with the "promise of coming back for her" (I don't understand exactly what that is).
He gave her a ring of dubious origin to confirm that their friendship was not over, that they were just not going to see each other as much anymore.
Changing Moon Diaries 1926-1927 🌙
Innocence had been living with Mrs. Bapka for quite some time and was turning 19 that December. We also know that Atlas died, which means that the crowd left and Rocky got fully into rumrunning. And after all that bible, I like to think that Rocky genuinely doesn't mind Innocence's new affectionate actions, maybe at first he finds her a little silly or seriously wonders "What is this lass planning? Why is she acting like this?"
But then he feels like a pampered cat, Inside he likes to be cared for and have someone worry about him. He lets her play with his hair and do silly things with it because he thinks it's cute, like a very bad reward for her washing his clothes.
In short, he doesn't quite understand what she sees in him, but he doesn't question it so much at first and lets her entertain herself.
Does he love her? Probably yes.
Does he love her enough to leave the Lackadaisy and his commitment to the speakeasy or tell her the truth? Definitely not.
I hope I was able to answer your question. ✨✨🩵🌙🩷

Ningyo Hime: Adolescence Chronicles 🌙
Chapter one
Tumblr media
The young man stood in front of Inocencia, extending his hand with a slight smile on his face.
“Hello.” She kept staring at him from her spot. “Isn’t it cold down there on the ground?”
Inocencia’s gaze seemed confused; the boy’s words drifted into the air, not registering in her mind, and the only images that came to her were pure white.
He raised an eyebrow.
“I figured as much,” he said, more to himself than to her. “You must not be from around here… maybe even farther away, from some place no one knows. Perhaps a kingdom on the moon filled with white swans and well-deserved vanity.”
Inocencia shook her head more by instinct than to refute what he was saying, all while standing up and watching him amuse himself with his own dialogue.
“Alright, alright,” he said, his eyes scanning her from head to toe. Inocencia could feel the weight of his gaze, which seemed to study every tiny detail of her appearance. “I’ll stop bothering you if you want.”
He stepped back without turning around, but she, with an unknown courage, grabbed his wrist.
He looked into her eyes again, and she seemed to silently plead for him not to leave.
“You don’t want me to go?” he asked, smiling again. “How sweet you are. I guess you don’t hate me, even if you don’t understand a word I’m saying.”
Inocencia let go of his wrist, glancing around once more—there was nothing else.
Rocky took off his hat, scratched his head thoughtfully, and then put it back on. He pointed at her, then gestured left and right before shaking his head. He looked and felt genuinely silly.
“Is he asking if I’m alone?” Inocencia thought. As she watched him repeat the motion slowly, she nodded.
The boy then took her hand and led her to where a map was posted on the wall. He made exaggerated gestures, pointing at the map and then mimicking a puzzled stance with his arms.
“Are you alone?” he asked again, mostly to himself.
She nodded.
The stranger sighed but smiled again. He pointed to himself and extended his hand toward her once more.
“Would you like to come with me, little lamb?” His chuckles following the offer only made Inocencia more curious about him. With no other options and no one else willing to help, she saw Rocky’s interest as a blessing she couldn’t let slip away.
Their hands were clasped as he focused on what he was holding.
“You’re so pale,” he declared, looking at her. “I can’t understand how no one has come up to check if you’re even real. Maybe you don’t understand a thing I’m saying… who knows? Maybe moon people don’t speak English.”
Without further warning, they began walking through shadowy corridors, weaving through the crowd. After a while, they reached a platform where people were waiting to board trains that were about to leave.
“I saw one heading to Illinois today… I guess that must be the one over there,” he whispered in her ear, knowing his words wouldn’t mean much to her. After pointing to himself and her, he gestured toward one of the train cars that hadn’t departed yet. Glancing around to check for any guards or workers, he suddenly grabbed her and ran, jumping into the car with his newly “adopted” companion in tow.
He dragged her to a dim corner near a pile of crates and odd objects and sat down beside her.
“Hopefully, this one’s headed to Illinois,” he murmured. “Because if it’s not… well, whatever God wills.”
Heat enveloped Inocencia’s body as she breathed heavily. She wiped the sweat from her forehead with one hand and brushed her white hair away from her vision, focusing on what she could do best: observing.
That dark hair, those cheeks that seemed ready to smile at any moment, that slender silhouette, or those thick eyebrows framing his profile.
Why did she find herself so drawn to watching him?
The question dissolved as he turned to look at her.
“By the way, we haven’t introduced ourselves,” he said, taking her hand and quickly kissing it before placing his other hand on his chest and pointing to himself. “Rickaby, Rocky Rickaby.”
Inocencia felt her little heart shrink even more.
Rocky pulled an old notebook and a pencil from his bag and wrote his name in a handwriting that tried to be cursive but was as messy as he was.
“You know how to write, right?” Rocky asked, handing her the pencil.
With a light motion, the graphite marked the paper with her name:
“Inocencia Maria Guadalupe Lunanova.”
“Inocen…” Rocky whispered, attempting to read it. “Mind if I call you Innocence?”
“Innocence?” she repeated, and Rocky nodded, smiling.
“You sound just like I imagined, little lamb,” he teased.
Rocky scribbled some notes and showed them to her. He drew an arrow connecting “Inocencia” with “Innocence,” then another linking it to a small drawing of a girl with a headscarf, long hair, and sleepy eyes. Another arrow joined “Lamb” with a sketch of the animal.
“Lamb?” Innocence asked, pointing at the little sheep in the diagram.
“Because you look like a little white lamb. You seem so meek, and your sleepy eyes make you look like you’re always dreaming,” Rocky said, giving her nose a playful “boop,” which made her smile sheepishly.
“Keep that happy face for as long as you can, little lamb,” Rocky whispered. “This journey is going to be long, and we’ll need to stay sane.”
She nodded, guided more by the tone of his voice than the words themselves. She thought she might write about all of this later, once he went to sleep.
Darkness engulfed them completely as the train car door slid shut.

Hi ^^ this is the second chapter of my fantiction <3In the end I decided to continue publishing here although it will also be available on AO3.
PS. This is an alternate universe where they are described as humans (I understand that in the comic canonically they see each other as humans and they are, therefore for that and my great fascination for their human designs I have decided to leave it and describe them as such).

We need some drawings of Innocence and Rocky cuddling please. IT WOULD BE SO CUTE
Oh hi Dear Anon <3 🩷🩵✨🌙
I would really like to do them, although I don't consider myself someone who knows how to draw, I'm still trying to learn so I can make drawings of both of them interacting outside of my fanfics or headcanons come true.
Still, I hope one day I can bring you content of them in the form of drawings ^^ (I have a hard time making two characters interact in drawings bc i waste my time doing fake concerts, headbanging, sleeping and having my university entry date approaching again).
But...
I have several ideas to make drawings of them and leave my comfort zone, some Au (the one I'm most excited about is the Little Mermaid Au because it's directly Innocence code).
And i have a small fanart a dear friend of mine do for me as gift (She doesn't have a Tumblr account that I know of so I can't tag her, but she gives me permission to post her drawing).
Tumblr media
I know it sounds like a joke but explaining the joke would ruin it... Did I ever mention that Moonlotov started as a joke I told myself and then to this friend and this came out?
Yes... the text means "My daddys 🗣️🔥!!"
Yes Rocky have a outfit kinda similar to the traditional jarocho suit
And yes that's Spongebob Squarepants house...
For more context, in Veracruz (where Innocence is from) there are a lot of local jokes about how the habitants are fish or sea creatures and live in Bikini Bottom.
Anyway, I hope that... This beautiful work by one of my best friends can quench your thirst for Moonlotov drawings while i start to practice again.

I love this! I really like how we get to see Innocence’s perspective and I can feel how lost and confused she is through your writing. The description of the people were so vivid and well done! The part when she talks about Rocky is so cute too 🥺and I like how the moment he makes eye contact with her, his first thought is “Oh! New friend?” :D and goes up to her 🥺🥺
