New to the team, Finka always get the feeling she’s being watched when she talks to Doc, Monty might be able to tell her why

Only a week after the team had returned from Truth and Consequences, Finka visited Doc in the med bay for the first time. The conversation had been innocuous, some follow up about the Chimera Virus. The doctor had been working in the main area of the med bay, rather than his office. After leaving Lera couldn’t shake the feeling that she and the doctor were being watched. Nothing terribly sinister, just the simple feeling of being observed. Thinking back, Finka didn’t remember seeing anyone else in there, as Jäger, the only patient, had moved back to his own room, where he was far more comfortable.

Over the next couple of weeks Lera noticed the same feeling, but only when she was talking to Doctor Kateb. She thought about asking him about it, or Oliver, except the latter might start a fight. Finally, after three weeks, Lera had had enough, so she approached the next closest person to Gustave to see if he knew anything: Gilles “Montagne” Toures.

She approached him one quiet evening in the common room. Most other operators were doing their own things elsewhere or had gone out to the pub for a pint and Lera and Gilles were virtually alone in the common area. Gilles sat on a couch reading a book titled Le Comte de Monte-Cristo. She sat on a chair catty corner to him and he looked up.

“Um, hello, Toures, I hope I’m not interrupting your reading.”

The older man chuckled, a rich, warm sound and shook his head. He then inclined his head for her to continue.

“I have an odd question, but one I don’t know who else to ask,” she watched his face for any adverse reaction, but none came. He merely maintained his previous warm expression, waiting patiently for her to continue. “Do you ever feel like you're being watched when you talk to Doctor Kateb?”

The Frenchman looked incredulous then seemed to think for a moment. “Non,” he finally responded. “But I may know what you are-” he paused searching for the word “-signifier, oh, what you mean.” He stopped speaking, realizing his faulty English was probably hard to understand. “I know, what the feeling you have, I understand it. You are aware of Gustave’s “Chien de Garde”. His, uh, guard dog.”

“His guard dog?”

“Oui, I can introduce you.”

“Why not?” Lera chuckled, still slightly confused.

Gilles stood and beckoned for her to follow him, “Viens.”

The two walked to the med bay together in companionable silence, and a bit of anticipation on Lera’s part. Upon arriving Lera saw the med bay looked empty, aside from the doctor organizing something. The minute they were fully in the room, the CBRN specialist felt like she was being watched.

“Bonsoir, Docteur,” Gilles greeted.

“Salut, vieil ami. добрый вечер, Lera. What brings the two of you here so late? Not an injury I hope.”

“Non,” Gilles smiled, with just the slightest hint of mischief in his eyes. “Lera wanted to meet your Chien de Garde.”

The Doctor rolled his eyes and shook his head. “He is in my office if you wish to speak with him.” He turned back to what he was doing.

“Not any more,” a voice said from the doorway of the aforementioned office. Lera looked and there stood Dominic Brunsmeir. Lera had never met the man formally, but he had been waiting for the team when they had returned from T&C, only to remain at Jager’s side till he was released back to his own room. She had heard jokes and whispers about him possibly being a drug dealer, though she doubted that. She realized in that moment that his intense blue eyes observing her was the feeling she had felt all those times talking with the doctor.

“I don’t see why you find it necessary to terrorize everyone, Dom,” Gustave sighed, breaking the silence.

“I'm not terrorizing anyone, artz, just keeping you company,” the German smiled, attempting to look innocent and failing.

“You are as good at keeping me company as Tania would be, you just like to lurk,” the doctor shot him a faux glare. Then turning to Lera he continued. “He hangs around me to make sure no one bullies me, though I don't need it. I think he just likes to scare people, hence the nickname Gilles and Julien have given him: Chien de Garde.”

anyway it's... 7 AM? I'm awake for another 2 hours SO here we go

another one of my long-winded ramblings on characters I adore

today's flavor; doc and monty

team dads

no but on a serious note, they take care of each other. genuine care, without judgement or condemnation for each other's work ethic; yes, Montagne worries that his partner will one day work himself to an early grave, but he knows Doc worries the same for him. Their solution has been to care for each other and remind each other that they cannot protect everyone else if they themselves are broken.

Doc will happily listen to Montagne speak at length when they're in private, offer advice for the more stubborn recruits under Montagne's tutelage. Makes sure the mountain of a man eats, always takes the time to make sure he's slept enough and hasn't let himself get dehydrated. Rarely voices how he worries that one day someone is going to have a weapon stronger than his shield, and even when he does, it's never more than a brief comment in passing - never meant to pressure or lecture the man, because Doc accepts that Montagne knows his own limits well.

Montagne, on the flip side, will often spend hours in near silence with Doc in his office and simply share the space. Each working on what they need to work on, with Doc able to reach out and touch him at a moment's notice. He'll let the man fuss over him simply because he knows he gets to return the sentiment, even if it might be with a little smartassery in the process because he knows his partner too well. Rarely speaks about how he wonders when Doc's altruism will get him killed, and when he does it is only because he felt the last operation got a little too close.

Montagne and Doc are anchors for each other, reminders that they're still very much alive and real. Montagne has seen Doc at his worst, when he's questioning everything he's ever done and doubting if he's doing anything to make the world better, and he's loved the man all the same. Likewise, Doc's seen Montagne at his worst, when he feels as though he's failed to do his duty, when he's lost one of the students he's mentored and he feels as though he should have been able to prevent it. And he loves him all the same. They talk to each other, work through the worst of their days so they can see the best of them again.

When they were younger, it was absolutely a passionate and slightly wild relationship. Now that they're older, now that they're wiser, now that they've got more scars than they know what to do with? It's a quiet love, but it's a genuine one.

Doc 💙:

🩺Doc would be the most attentive caregiver, always checking in on his little, making sure they're okay and content.

🩵The perfect caregiver to have around when his little is under the weather, he's a doctor so he's making it his utmost priority to make sure his little is taken care of, staying by their side while they recover.

☁️If his little is feeling down he'll see what's bothering them, seeing if there's anything he could do to help cheer his little up or make them feel more comfortable.

🩺Doc would go out of his way to suprise his little with a toy doctor set, playing along with them as they do his check-up! :)

💙Doc would make sure to offer his little healthy foods and sweets! Bringing back snacks he'd think his little would like from when he travels on missions. Doc's favorite meal to make for his little is oatmeal with berries! :)

☁️When Doc is busy and can't look after his little, he'll see if Monty or Twitch could babysit for him.

Nøkk 🖤:

👑Nøkk would love to play swords with her little, if her little is comfortable with it (she'd let you win every time :) ).

🏰Nøkk would use her ability to play hide and seek with her little, being careful as to not scare them accidentally.

⭐Nøkk would love to "read" fantasy stories with her little, whether or not she actually speaks around them, she'd love to read with them anyhow.

👑Nøkk would make communication cards or a journal with her little, decorating it with little doodles and stickers. This would be a fun little activity for her and her little to do to help each other with communication! :)

🏰Nøkk would decorate her space with soft darker colors like purples, blues, and greys. She'd have soft lighting for her little if they'd like, a nightlight the casts soft stars on the walls and ceiling. ☆

☁️On rainy days, Nøkk would take her little for small walks under an umbrella, letting them splash in puddles if they'd want. If her little Isn't a fan of being outside, she'd put on a movie to watch with them with some snacks and a warm blanket.

A crossover between two of my favorite games, Splatoon and Rainbow 6 Siege- If Splatoon characters played Siege!

Callie- Bad at it (she rushes too hard). Occasionally hops on, but mostly just watches. When she does play, it's mostly Sledge and Smoke.

Marie- Ok at it. Doesn't have a particular main, but enjoys DMRs, and drifts towards Dokkaebi and Tubarao most of the time.

Agent/Captain 3- Absolute god at the game. Doesn't play super tactically or with their team, but is a force of nature when roaming or flanking. Thus, they play operators like Vigil, Caviera, and Bandit, and then Nokk on attack.

Agent 4- Solid defender, alright attacker. Likes somewhat passive operators, like Rook and Finka, and is happy supporting their team.

Agent 8- Really good. Not as good as the best of them, but reliable. On defense, can hop between a fair number of ops, but likes Kaid for some reason. On attack, plays Twitch and Brava (they're great at droning space for their team).

Neo-Agent 3- Better on attack than defense. Has a somewhat aggressive playstyle, and enjoys hardbreaching with specifically Thermite (and secondarily Hibana). On defense, plays Goyo and Ela.

Pearl- ASH MAIN. HARD RUSHES. Amazingly good when she doesn't get deleted from existence by Kapkan traps. On defense, runs outside and dies without even setting up site (as Alibi (she never uses her gadget)).

Marina- Damn good. Mains Mira and sometimes Thunderbird/Doc, meticulously setting up site to make up for her wife's tomfoolery. On attack, pushes up with her team as IQ. If the other team is full of assholes, she whips out Glaz and domes them all.

Shiver & Frye- Can be good, especially if their team works around them. Fight over Sens, then the loser gets Ying. On defense, they fight again- this time over Fenrir, the loser taking Thorn. During the match, they work together while constantly yelling at each other- it confuses their team as much as their playstyle confuses the enemy.

Big Man- Monty & Clash main. Goes slow, but is a respectable team member.

“Not him” pt 3

Lion goes to get answers from Doc himself.

Lion approached the med bay very nearly whispering for it to be empty under his breath. He had mulled over his conversation with Finka for several days before deciding to get an answer for himself. It wasn’t that he didn’t believe Lera, rather part of him still didn’t trust Gustave fully. Maybe the doctor had lied to the Russian because she was his friend. Still Olivier had decided to find out the truth, even if it meant yelling at Gustave to get that information.

He entered the med bay and saw the door to Gustave’s office in the back open and the light was on. The doctor was in. Lion took a deep breath and approached the office. He stepped into the doorway and the doctor looked up and did a double take. Probably expecting someone else. The doctor looked back at his computer screen, as if Olivier would disappear if he looked away, before sighing and looking back up.

“Yes?” Gustave said in English.

“Can I come in?” Olivier decided he was going to let the other man have some control over the conversation, or maybe he hoped the other would say no.

“Oui,” the doctor rolled his eyes.

“So I was thinking these past few days,” Olivier paused to try to gauge the doctor’s mood. He was looking back at his computer, typing intermittently.

“Always a dangerous pastime.”

Ignoring the comment, Lion continued.

“Lera said you don’t hate me.” Olivier fully stopped waiting for the doctor to react. It took him about a minute before he looked up.

“Quoi?” Gustave raised an eyebrow looking straight at the CBRN Specialist.

“Lera said you don’t hate me.”

Gustave folded his hands, looked at his computer, then at Olivier, then off into the middle distance.

“What Lera said is true, but,” he pointed at Olivier for emphasis, “but, that does not mean that I am not upset with you. I haven’t forgiven you, nor have you asked for my forgiveness, merely made peace with what I cannot change.”

“I need to ask for your forgiveness?” Olivier sat forward in his seat. The gall of Gustave to say something like that.

“Do you think you have never made a wrong decision? That you can do no wrong? That your actions have never gotten anyone killed?” Olivier’s famous voice rose and he stood leaning over Gustave’s desk. “I have worked and toiled for years to be the man I am today! I have asked God to forgive my sins! I do not need your pardon and I do not want it! You are stuck up and pretentious and do not care for others' battles if they do not concern you! Everything in your life was given to you and you worked for none of it!”

Olivier had not meant to get so worked up but here he was, leaning into Gustave’s personal space and yelling at him. He took a breath and straightened up. Gustave was pale and looked frightened. Good, Lion though, then regretted it. The older man looked as if he wanted to say something, opening and closing his mouth like a fish for a few seconds. He looked down, straightening a few items on his desk before he looked up again and spoke. His voice was soft and hesitant when he finally began.

”Olivier, I’m sorry. While you are wrong about the fact that I have never struggled, you are correct that I do not know what you have been through. I do not need an apology from you, but…” The doctor trailed off and put his face in his hands.

Olivier waited for him to continue, but Gustave remained there with his face in his hands. The doctor finally looked up, tears threatening to spill down his face.

“What you did, Olivier, hurt me in a way that I do not fully understand. I took out my anger and confusion on you, I should not have. I do not have an understanding of your God, and how you can fall back on him. I do not understand why or how he forgives, but if I am not mistaken, He gives second chances. I wish to also give you a second chance, if you will give me one, but I, like you, am broken. It is hard for me, but I wish to make a change. I want to forgive you, but I don’t know how.”

The tears were now falling silently down the doctor's face. Olivier felt horrible for yelling at the man.

“Tell me if I overstep, but if you wish I can tell you about how my God forgives. And I too am sorry.”

Gustave nodded. Lion continued.

“I know we cannot fix this issue between us with one conversation, but I believe we will work towards it, maybe with Lera’s help. I’ll talk to her and we can begin to work through this with either her or Gilles present, how does that sound?”

Gustave nodded again, still too emotional to respond verbally.

Outside the medbay Lera watched Gilles relax. The fight had been in French and she could not understand it.

“I am thinking this is progress,” Gilles patted Lera on the shoulder. “They will be brothers yet.”

“Though they may need our help too.” Lera smiled up at the old Frenchman.

“Oui.”

Smutember Day 8 - "Be Quiet!"

Montagne x F!Reader

"Shhhhh now," Gilles strokes the soft skin of your back with his thumb, running the pad of it over your spine and leaving a trail of goosebumps in his wake.

He's thrusting into you unbearably, shushing you as you whimper helplessly at his mercy. The two of you are holed up in some closet at the compound, desperately seeking some kind of release after a training exercise.

"Such a good girl," he purrs as he snaps his hips against you with such force that it shoves you forward into the pile of boxes you're leaning on. You hear a chuckle from under his balaclava and take a blind swat at him with the hand that's not holding yourself up.

Another unforgiving thrust hits you in the core, jolting you into a surprised moan that you can't stop.

"Quiet!" Gilles hisses as he claps a hand over your mouth, bending low over your body, the rough material of his flak jacket rubbing uncomfortably on your back, "Do you want us to get walked in on?"

"No," you choke the word out against his gloved palm and he grunts in response but doesn't move his hand.

Gilles uses his position for leverage leaning over the top of you to get as deep as he can, his fingers digging into the meat of your cheek as he fucks you relentlessly.

You feel as if you're on the verge of tears, begging and whimpering against the flesh of his palm, but he doesn't stop.

You're not even sure you'd want him to.

When he cums, it's all low growls and pants; he keeps his hand over your mouth until he's sure you've come down from your own high.

You're breathing as if you've just run a mile, resting on the boxes for leverage until your jelly-like legs can hold you up properly.

Gilles waits for you to turn around and re-dress before he cups your chin with his hand and brings his mouth to yours. He can be so tender sometimes- you always forget.

"I wish we had more time," he murmurs as he runs a hand through your hair and kisses you again, "Next time, I'll find a place for you to be louder."

Smonk - I guess you can choose where to put his smonks like a trapper, but in his case they're temporary true aoe grenades that explode on deployment and deal damage over time with the cloud

Ela - just Dorothy in R6 form

Caveira - could be interesting if they decide to put in unique mechanics for her, maybe something somewhat similar to Saga's talent where an enemy enters a unique state at low health? Maybe she can be in a new subclass where she just pins an enemy when her skill is up then takes them out after a while. Maybe some shenanigans could be involved with a long-charging manual version of her skill being able to pin non-boss elites for a while, maybe while getting damaged.

Doc - just a medic, ammo based giga heals?

Jager - …would be slightly unhinged but maybe he can cancel out small amounts of ranged attacks?

Vigil - has camo…no clue what to add, maybe an April sidegrade, someone meant for long term deployments rather than ranged ambushes?

Azami - maybe something similar to Near Alter or Jessica Alter's deployable shield/light spear

Mozzie, no clue what to do with the Pests, like at all, maybe some unhinged synergy with summoners?

Zofia - gives squad-wide buffs on skill and some of the armor health thing Penance and Gravel have

Nokk - same thing as Vigil…not sure what twist to put on it

Iana - maybe like a pseudo-tactician, where she can deploy her decoy within her range, but it's 0 block with Taunt? Probably something similar with Alibi.

Dokkaebi - maybe something like Elysium's attack boost/invis reveal?

Hibana - could just go full war criminal with her launcher, could maybe hit multiple enemies and have those stack, almost like W's S3, or maybe manually detonated explosives within her range

Trappers, as you said, could have their traps easily translated into the game for the most part, for Gridlock though, could be neat if she's the first one to have a trap that can spread to other tiles

Capitao - could have a Firewhistle S2-type skill, AOE burn

Thunderbird - Stainless, but medic

Glaz - could be Ambriel's new best friend

Monty - w a l l

Mute - might be wonky to translate since most enemies on Arknights are Thatcher's kind of people in terms of tech, but sure, hexer (but g u n)

Wamai - similar thing to Jager's ADS, maybe ADS is ammo based while his frisbees are health-based

Aruni - could be a trapper, sort of, gates constantly hitting enemies with slow and small amounts of damage

Bandit - Aruni, but with car battery barbed wire hell

Goyo - Firewhistle S2, but manually activated traps

Kaid - maybe a skill version of Bandit's thing? Almost like Ash's flash on S2?

IQ - …no damn clue ngl, especially if we're assuming that Hypergryph is going to be justifying the use of those gadgets, not much electricity in a sword or wand

Twitch - summoner, have Closure give her more drones and have them be automated

Clash - angy cop gets to microwave and slow enemies two tiles ahead of her on skill, less armored though

Ying - stunlock hell for the enemy, either skill based like Ash's flash or a deployable like the flashes from the MH collab

Kapkan - simple trapper, either have his bombs just be pure damage or put a slow on it

Sens - …no clue actually, maybe something similar to camo or invis? Any operator covered by the light can't be hit by ranged enemies on the other side? (also, is it just me, or does he look like an Overwatch character? Like a slightly more realistic one.)(accidentally called him Snes while typing)

Lion - best thing I can think of is another Elysium-style atk boost for snipers, or a very niche global invis reveal

Castle - …not sure how to get his barricades into the game, maybe make them cheap and plentiful but only deployable between two high-ground tiles?

Flores - uh…a trapper/Mayer abomination?

Brava - actually drawing a blank on how to translate the gadget into an Arknights skill

Thatcher - …not much use for the EMP but at least he'll be happy with how most Terran fighters operate, or I guess unhappy because he's the one with the technological crutch now

Blackbeard just unironically sounds boring to translate, maybe a guard with a defensive skill?

On a semi-related note, I can see Arknights-related traffic on the Fandom wiki, since popular pages include Fuze's page and Originium Dust

How would Fuze's cluster charge translate to the game though? Deployble trap that sends out mines at random directions?

really hyped for the new collab. they've revealed fuze and i assume he's going to be the free event operator, which is fine by me since i am a simpleton.

i think they're going to most likely add three new characters, rerun the previous banner and event, add one new event operator (fuze?) and two new gacha operators, one 6-star and one 5-star. unless they're going to go for the same split as the first collab, of two women and two men, one defender and attacker each.

assuming they'll only pick one attacker that's a man, i didn't predict anyone who falls to that category.
