ELVIS RECORDED A SONG FOR HIS FATHER
The story of the track āIf Iām A Fool (For Loving You)ā recorded at the American Sound Studio in Memphis, Tennessee (1969)
[ABOVE] Elvis and his father, Vernon Presley, early 60s and 70s.

JANUARY 20, 1969 - AMERICAN SOUND STUDIO, MEMPHIS TENNESSEE
Elvis was working with the musicians in the studio since the night before, January 19. The night went on and it was already past midnight when, during a pause to catch the breath, Elvis Presley casually finds another song to record yet at that same recording session.
JANUARY 20, 1969 - AMERICAN SOUND STUDIO, MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE By 4:30 the next morning they were tired ā and theyād pretty much exhausted the song list theyād come in with. Elvis and piano player Bobby Wood were sitting quietly on the piano bench talking about religion and music. Bobby had had a minor hit as a recording artist with āSearchināā and had recorded Sun writer Stan Keslerās āIf Iām A Fool (For Loving You).ā Elvis introduced Bobby to his father, and when Vernon said that āIf Iām A Foolā was one of his favorites, Elvis decided to give it a try. Excerpt from "Elvis Presley: A Life in Music - The Complete Recording Sessions" (1998) by Ernst Jorgensen and Peter Guralnick
In an interview, this is what Bobby himself said about that moment:
Q: In 1964, you had a hit. Can you tell us when Elvis covered it? A: Yes, 'If I'm a Fool' in 1964 was a pretty big hit for me and so Elvis had know about that and his dad came in one night at the studio while we were recording Elvis. And he said, 'Dad, I'd like to have you meet somebody here'. And so he brought him over and I shook hands with him and then he introduced us and he said, 'Do you know who this guy is?' And he said, 'No, I'm not sure'. So Elvis said, 'What's your favorite record'. And he said, 'If I'm a Fool'. And he said, 'This is the guy that sang it'. And of course his father just said, 'Woah'. So Elvis went on and did it for his dad because that was one of his dad's favorite songs at the time.

What Elvis thought about his own performance on the song:
Maybe it was just too late in the day to introduce a new song, but even with Bobbyās help the master they produced elicited only one word from Elvis: āRotten.ā Itās a measure of how high Elvisās standards had risen by this point: The master of āIf Iām A Foolā may have been one of the lesser cuts Elvis made at American, but measured against the years of Hollywood soundtrack crap that came before, it was still a giant leap of musicality. Excerpt from "Elvis Presley: A Life in Music - The Complete Recording Sessions" (1998) by Ernst Jorgensen and Peter Guralnick

THE MASTER OF "IF I'M A FOOL (FOR LOVING YOU)" WAS FIRST RELEASED IN 1970 IN THE COMPILATION ALBUM "LET'S BE FRIENDS".
Later the track was also released in the reissued album "From Elvis in Memphis" as bonus track in the "40thĀ Anniversary Edition" (legacy edition, 2009).

ā ADDITIONAL INFO
Elvis didn't only covered one version from his pianist Bobby Wood previously recorded tracks, but two. Still from the "Elvis Presley: A Life In Music" book:
On the 22nd Elvis returned to do repairs and to try another song Bobby Wood had recorded, the religious āWho Am Iā.
youtube
Elvis' second song cover that had been previously recorded by Bobby Wood, "Who Am I?" was recorded in February 22,Ā 1969 at the American Sound Studio, and first released in March 1971 in the compilation album "You'll Never Walk Alone". The track followed the same destiny as "If I'm A Fool (For Loving You)" being later released as a part of the "From Elvis in Memphis ā 40thĀ Anniversary Edition" (2009) also as a bonus track. Unfortunately I couldn't find Bobby's recording, not even the released EP with it.

Well, well, well. Such a nice info I came across today. I wonder if Vernon liked his son's version of Bobby Wood's country song "If I'm A Fool", one of his favorites at the time. Anyhow, it's cute to learn Elvis was not at first interested in recording this song until he acknowledged his father's personal liking of it. I guess it makes this tune a special gift to Vernon from his son, if you think about it. It was one 'at the spur of the moment' decisions when Elvis just followed his heart. ā„

Camino dress rehearsal - day 1
As many of you know we are hoping to do the first leg of the MozĆ”rabe Way Camino after Easter. So today we set off with our packs as if we were doing the Camino and walked 19km to LāEstartit. Iāve always wanted to check out this place as Iāve only been here once years ago on a bike ride.
We were in luck with the weather, it was a glorious day, though a little nippy on the legs first thing. We met up with Katharine, Stephen and Willow in Montgo and had coffee before they accompanied us for the next little while.
For lunch we dropped down to a lovely beach (although pebbly). This is where Katharine and Stephen have brought us a couple of times on their boat.
After lunch there was a long climb back up and then another down to another beach. It was a beautiful walk, hugging the coast for much of it. So far my knee is holding up fine (š¤).
It was after 4pm when we arrived in LāEstartit so the first thing to be done was getting accommodation, closely followed by a drink.
We are staying in a hostal, again trying to simulate the Camino experience, though Iām pretty sure this one is much more luxurious than what is awaiting us in Andalusia.
Tonight we wandered into town for dinner. LāEstartit has obviously seen better days. Judging from the buildings it was quite grand at a point in time. I suspect that was pre the English discovering the south of Spain.
Jose had a place in mind for dinner, after some research, which of course was closed š«. We did however find a suitable alternative and had a very nice meal and now Iām sitting up in bed completely stuffed. Hopefully Iāll walk it all off tomorrow š¬

Whether you drive a luxury car, a family sedan, or an SUV, professional auto detailing can enhance both the interior and exterior of your vehicle. For residents in Montgomery County, PA, there are numerous high-quality auto detailing services available that cater to a wide variety of vehicles and needs. In this article, we will explore everything you need to know aboutĀ auto detailing in Montgomery County, PA, including its benefits, services offered, and how to choose the right detailing shop for your vehicle.
What is Auto Detailing?
Auto detailing refers to the meticulous cleaning, restoration, and protection of both the interior and exterior of a vehicle. Unlike a regular car wash, which mainly focuses on removing surface dirt and grime, auto detailing involves a deeper clean, addressing every aspect of the car's appearance and functionality. This comprehensive service is designed to improve your car's aesthetics, protect its surfaces, and enhance its resale value.
There are two main types of auto detailing:Ā Ceramic Caoting -
Exterior Detailing:Ā This involves washing, polishing, and protecting the carās exterior to restore its shine and protect it from environmental damage. Detailers typically use specialized tools and products, such as clay bars, polishes, waxes, and ceramic coatings, to remove contaminants and protect the paint.
Interior Detailing:Ā This focuses on cleaning the interior of the car, including vacuuming, shampooing, leather conditioning, and sanitizing all surfaces. Professional detailers use steam cleaners, brushes, and vacuums to clean every nook and cranny, leaving the interior spotless and fresh.
The Benefits of Auto Detailing in Montgomery County, PA
When you invest in professionalĀ auto detailing services in Montgomery County, PA,Ā youāre giving your vehicle the care it needs to stay in top condition. Here are some of the key benefits of regular detailing:
1.Ā Preserves Vehicle Value
One of the primary benefits of auto detailing is that it helps preserve the value of your vehicle. Whether you plan to sell or trade-in your car down the line, a well-maintained vehicle will always command a higher resale value. Regular detailing ensures that your car's paint remains intact, the interior stays fresh, and all surfaces are protected from wear and tear.
2.Ā Protects Against Environmental Damage
In Montgomery County, PA, your vehicle is exposed to a variety of environmental factors, such as road salt, UV rays, dirt, and pollution, which can damage both the paint and the interior surfaces over time. Auto detailing services help to protect your car from these elements by applying protective coatings like wax or ceramic coatings that create a barrier against the harsh environment.
3.Ā Improves Driving Comfort
A clean and fresh interior makes your driving experience more enjoyable. With professional auto detailing, every part of the interior is cleaned and sanitized, removing stains, odors, dust, and allergens. This not only enhances your comfort but also contributes to better air quality inside your vehicle.

Last weekend with our Canadian friends
An early start Saturday morning as the boys had a big ride they had planned, a gravel ride to Cadaques. I went for a nice solo jaunt enjoying the sunshine and a snack at Yariās.
Back home I cooked for whenever Jose did return and did a few other chores around the place.
Great photos from the boys ride but they were all pretty shattered when they got home, a ride not for the faint hearted.
After a shower we wandered to the beach for a drink and some tapas. Weāve noticed a lot more people have arrived in town and some of the restaurants are getting ready to reopen. Iām surprised at the people, I didnāt expect them until next weekend, being the start of Semana Santa. Mind you, you can hardly blame them the weather has been lovely. Martijn and Marjolein are making rumblings about swimming. Theyāre on their own, the waterās still only about 13 degrees. Weāre staying dry until May.
By 9:30pm we were both asleep on the lounge.
Sunday morning we went for a hike to test out my knee. We did 12km over to Montgo and back. The knee held up pretty well, started to niggle a bit in the last 2km.
It was another beautiful day and in the afternoon Charlie and Cathy picked us and Marjolein up and we headed to the craft brewery, Dos Kiwis. He is a kiwi and sheās Catalan. Weāve been past it many times but didnāt realise they did tastings and food until our Canadian friends checked it out. They donāt have a gluten free beer but apparently there will be a low gluten one soon. Jose and I enjoyed cider instead. A good fun afternoon had by all and a nice way to celebrate St Patrickās day.
By the time we got back to LāEscala it was getting chilly so we headed home to our heated apartment where we veged out watching YouTube cycling videos.
