Ellie

Monster Tale is an old game for the DS (13 years old holy shit) and in my opinion a VERY underrated classic Ellie is a young girl that gets magically transported to a world filled with monsters. Soon after she meets a baby monster she names Chomp. Chomp was separated from his mother, and so Ellie sets out to help him find her and hopefully find a way home Along the way Ellie learns multiple other kids have been transported to this world, but unlike her, have been using the monsters for their own selfish desires. So she beats them up to get them to stop :p More seriously, the game is very cute and has a big message on friendship and being kind while also standing up for what you believe in. You'd think Chomp would do the fighting, but no! He mostly just assists Ellie, who fights with her handbag and this cool bracelet she found as she explores and tries to find his mom Overall she's a very sweet and caring girl, wanting to help others and do what's right, even if she has to get her hands dirty to do it. I love her a lot! Also a fun fact I thought was neat is that the team behind the game had to go through multiple publishers because they all wanted to change Ellie into a boy or an older woman, and the dev team was adamant that Ellie stays as she is.

Protagonist

Literally super relatable dude. Bestie has sleep problems and dreams about stuff that we usually worry or stress about. Things like money or the future or whatever. Despite the dreams feeling challenging sometimes he still manages to persevere and sleep through the night though! Not me trying to explain the plot of a rhythm game- that’s the best I can do LMAO he’s just a silly guy with a good sense of rhythm and a poor sleep schedule (omg it’s me)

Monster Tale - Um elo de amizade entre Humanos e Monstros

Monster Tale é um obscuro metroidvania lançado em 2011 para Nintendo DS pela Majesco Entertainment. Ellie, uma garota advinda do mundo humano, ela é transportada para o mundo dos monstros, fazendo amizade com Chomp, um monstrinho que tem um forte apetite. Os dois unem forças para enfrentar os Kid Kings, um grupo de jovens que está causando o terror em Monster Land. Os atributos de Monster Tale envolvem interação com objetos para melhorar as habilidades de Chomp, assim como outras missões. Basicamente ele é um tamagotchi ambulante, uma hora ele tem que ajudar a garotinha de cabelo azul, mas como a barra de life dele decresce rapidamente, Chomp tem sempre que retornar para a tela de baixo pra se recuperar e interagir com os objetos que ele encontra. Ellie, por outro lado, tem um gameplay similar com Mega Man, como por exemplo a habilidade de disparar esferas de plasma por um bracelete e escalar paredes, como em Mega Man "X". Vale ressaltar os Save Points, que lembram muito Castlevania, especialmente o título mais famoso, Symphony of the Night, o melhor trabalho de Koji Igarashi...

Dragon Quest Journey

Dragon Quest is one of my favourite game franchises. It’s the reason why I am so into turn based JRPGs. I love Dragon Quest from the bottom of my heart, and yet I have only managed to finish three of the games!

So a brief tale of my Dragon Quest Journey. The first game I ever played was DQVIII for the PS2, I started by watching my father playing it when I was around 7 years. At the time I didn’t understand english and had to ask my father to translate everything. But not long after I started playing the game by myself, using google translator to understand what was going on and what I had to do. This game is one of the main reasons why I learned english. Unfortunately I have actually never finished it.

After DQVIII, I started playing the Nintendo DS Dragon Quest games, I played DQIV, DQV, DQVI and DQIX, again I never actually finished any of them.

I then moved to the Game Boy games, I played DQI, DQII and DQIII, those are the ones that I managed to finish.

And then a few years ago DQXI came out, and I bought it, I really loved playing this game, but due to the fact that is so long I have yet to finish it too.

So out of the main DQ games the only I haven’t played are DQX, for obvious reasons, and DQVII, since I haven’t been able to get my hands on that game.

I have also played a little bit of some side games, I have played DQ Monsters and DQ Swords, but I have also never finished any of them.

Operation Terminus

So…I’ve canceled my plan to play/replay the first nine Assassin’s Creed games following my current playthrough of Valhalla. Instead, I’ll be cleaning up my “backlog”. Given the nature of what I do and how I play games, that’s less about which games I “own” and more about which games I’ve already sunk some time into.

Okay admittedly I’m only like…just past the start of Act 2 but this one is a priority before all the information completely leaves my brain. Plus the DLC is all out now and I own it!

* Wind Waker Wii U

I’m literally over halfway done with the triforce hunt so this is super close but I lost about an hour of progress last time I played over a year ago and haven’t touched it since. Shouldn’t be more than a couple days of playing left.

* Sonic Unleashed Xbox

Stuck on empire city, I just need to get some more medals to progress. Using a guide should help.

Warioware touched (outside of smooth moves) was the last warioware to me that really took fun advantage of hardware and it used that touchscreen beautifully for its wacky mini games n fun little random toy room. I also really adored the touchscreen for simple things like mixing abilities for Kirby squeak squad or the little tamagotchi monster in monster tale :) (honestly what elevated an otherwise okay platformer).

Also yeah FORM factor portability wise is so much better then the switch. I understand feasibility in terms of specs but god nothing will beat being able to fold that shit and just open it up for later (the GBA SP also holds a special place in my heart just for being able to fold). Also yeah there’s a REASON people called that era of Nintendo “Nintendium” those things were like flip phone bricks you could KILL someone with an original DS.

Unironically I think we need just a more powerful DS again. Dual screens fuck. The amount of creativity and interactivity and cool UI that went into DS games is literally unmatched and like those things were tough as fuck too. Please hear my wish. I get that the switch is technically handheld and thus portable but also no it is not that thang is so delicate and lacks the sophistication of just being able to shut it at a moments notice to pause everything without having to hit a pause menu. Does anyone hear me. Hello. Pokémon ranger.

Look you think this is a cute kids movie and this kid rips your heart out so easily. You also think he's supposed to be the bully character but they solve that real quick as he has an actual conversation with Courgette about his trauma and all of the fellow kids at the home. That scene where he hides under the stairs to look at the package his mom sent him? The disappointment that it was only an mp3 player and not a card? that broke me. his acceptance that there's no real future for them at this point and then having to watch his best friend get adopted and get the life he wanted, but when Courgette sees that him leaving would be upsetting to Simon, he offers to stay instead but Simon doesn't let him because he doesn't want to be selfish and ruin Courgette's chance at a family and he really is happy for him, he's just going to need some time to adjust to it? ugh he's such a poor tragic baby and I wish he had a happier ending than "well life goes on at orphanage and we are all slowly growing up and changing as people"

Ellie

Monster Tale is an old game for the DS (13 years old holy shit) and in my opinion a VERY underrated classic Ellie is a young girl that gets magically transported to a world filled with monsters. Soon after she meets a baby monster she names Chomp. Chomp was separated from his mother, and so Ellie sets out to help him find her and hopefully find a way home Along the way Ellie learns multiple other kids have been transported to this world, but unlike her, have been using the monsters for their own selfish desires. So she beats them up to get them to stop :p More seriously, the game is very cute and has a big message on friendship and being kind while also standing up for what you believe in. You'd think Chomp would do the fighting, but no! He mostly just assists Ellie, who fights with her handbag and this cool bracelet she found as she explores and tries to find his mom Overall she's a very sweet and caring girl, wanting to help others and do what's right, even if she has to get her hands dirty to do it. I love her a lot! Also a fun fact I thought was neat is that the team behind the game had to go through multiple publishers because they all wanted to change Ellie into a boy or an older woman, and the dev team was adamant that Ellie stays as she is.
