The amount of bias against 13 era Who is a real WTF, it was like people just wanted to be negative. We've all heard 'tHe WrItInG WaS bAd'. But people also just choose to be more negative and hostile towards it... for example
Legend of the Sea Devils... people couldn't stop talking about how bad it was. It got a 3 star review from Radio Times...
The title and first line are...
Doctor Who: Legend of the Sea Devils review – classic monsters resurface in maritime mediocrity
The Sea Devils are faithfully resurrected but the adventure on the South China sea is wishy-washy.
Do you know what else got a 3 star review? The Star Beast...
But how did they frame this even though it has the exact same star rating? As wishy washy? as mediocre?... of course not it's framed in a positive way 👇
Doctor Who - The Star Beast review: Saturday night magic is back
There's a very big adventure coming.
Even though its not relevant they also had to take a dig in the first couple paragraphs of The Star Beast review at the previous era 'You'd be forgiven for wondering if we've travelled back in time, but no, this is Doctor Who in 2023, and how sorely it's been missed... Doctor Who hasn't been at its very best for a long while'... like I said this was rated the same as tLotSD... in tLotSD opening paragraph... "I feel a bit sorry for today’s young viewers. I grew up watching Doctor Who in the 1970s and, while it might not have been immense every single week, we could rely on a fairly steady stream of classics – and scares and chills agogo. Sitting through Legend of the Sea Devils is like watching seaweed dry." Same rating different framing... this put the viewer into a different mindset before watching it, it primes them to see the negative rather than the positive.
And for good measure The Power of the Doctor which got 4 stars was framed in a 'oh its good but still not great' way... 👇
Doctor Who: The Power of the Doctor review – A satisfying finale to an erratic 4-year chapter
Despite an abundance of distractions, Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill remain the throbbing heart of the story.
According to this star rating this episode is better then The Star Beast but you wouldn't now that from the words. The bias against 13 era Who and the writing is both real and insane and nothing will change my mind on that because we are constantly shown evidence of it.

A Look At Stuff You Probably Never Heard Of: Eternal Sonata (Manga)
I was going to take a look at something else, what with it being New Year’s, but I ran into some trouble. But in its place, I’ll be taking a look at a manga adaptation of my favorite game, which I also took A Look At on January when I first started this series. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the Eternal Sonata manga!
The manga adaptation of Eternal Sonata was released somewhere between September and December of 2008, with only one volume and ten chapters within that volume. Both the art and story were done by Kuroi Mimei, who also did the art for “The iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls Comic Anthology - cute“.
As stated earlier, this manga adapts the game. Much like the game, the plot is set in the dream world of famed Polish pianist Frédéric François Chopin as he lays on his deathbed. In his dream, he meets Polka, a young girl from Tenuto Village with an incurable illness that allows her to use magic. She’s unable to sell a medicine known as Floral Powder because Mineral Powder is so beneficial and the only thing not being taxed. The two travel to Forte City to speak with Count Waltz, hoping to come to an agreement so Polka can make her living.
At the same time, two street urchins from Ritardando named Allegretto and Beat have to steal food to feed themselves and the kids living in the sewers. Frustrated with the high taxes on everything except Mineral Powder, the two friends travel to Forte City to speak with Count Waltz. Along the way, the two pairs meet and decide to travel together.
Due to the game’s plot being compressed into 10 chapters, much of said plot has been trimmed down and as a result, the other playable characters are relegated to brief, one-off appearances and don’t normally accompany the main four for long, if at all.
As for the art, a lot of work has gone into the details. Everything from the characters’ hair, to injuries, to even the backgrounds. But at the same time, character faces can look a little... off. As noted by the cover.
Another year, another Final Recommendation Never Let Go Of It||Get It||Hold Onto It||Try It||Consider It||Stay Away From It
As stated earlier, the manga heavily compresses the events of the game and the other playable characters are relegated to glorified cameos. Heck, Claves, Viola, and Falsetto are completely absent with no mention of them. March and Salsa show up briefly, and Jazz accompanies the group for a short while.
And when I said “heavily compressed”, I mean “HEAVILY compressed”! Chapter 3 has Beat and Allegretto meet Polka’s mom in Tenuto, then it cuts to the four in Agogo Forest, where they set up camp for the night, only for Fugue to find them and threaten them while Frederic is elsewhere. The very next chapter has Polka waking up in Salsa and March’s house, with the fight happening between chapters; the group was heavily beaten and nearly killed until Frederic shows up and singlehandedly beats Fugue. And while leaving Agogo Forest, they meet Jazz (who is just a traveler, rather than a member of Andantino, which isn’t even mentioned), who takes them all the way to Baroque Castle, which, according to this map, is VERY far from Agogo Forest.
In fact, the whole plot about Count Waltz exploiting Mt. Rock and turning his citizens into mindless, magic-using soldiers is completely absent. I don’t even think the negative side effects of Mineral Powder are even mentioned. And by Chapter 9, the group arrives at Castle Forte, where they meet Count Walt, where he consumes a drink containing a Glowing Agogo and transforms into a monster that doesn’t even look like the Ruined Body. Polka uses her magic to return Waltz to his human form, but Allegretto is fatally wounded by a pole while protecting Polka. Somehow, the two use magic to help Polka recover, but she’s unable to use her magic to save him because her mysterious illness is gone. Wanting to save Allegretto and still convinced the world he’s in is a dream, Frederic uses his magic to revive and heal Allegretto before mysteriously vanishing, leaving only his hat. And no, I didn’t skip over anything.
And the manga does also differ from the game as how the plot unfolds (obviously). Like in the game, you only find March in Agogo Village and she asks you to look for her sister at Forte City because she forgot her iconic hat (Salsa isn’t wearing a hat in the manga) and hasn’t returned for a few days. Salsa was thrown in prison and you break out with her. In the manga, Salsa is present in Agogo Village and doesn’t leave for Forte City.
There’s also this minor subplot about Allegretto feeling weak in comparison to Frederic and Jazz.
If you wanna check it out, go ahead. It’s not awful, just very bizarre. But if you want the best experience, just get the game. PS3 version.

The Koenigsegg Jesko Is A Faster, Friendlier Agera Rs
The “Graphite Grey” paint properly collides with the Tang Orange strips whereas the menacing look of the Jesko is now even more enhanced because of the darkish paint. The similar engine utilized inside the Koenigsegg Agera powers the high-speed variant of Koenigsegg Jesko. Do these hyper automotive makers publish the radiation ranges that they topic the driver to? Why hasn't compressed air jet turbo lag defeaters been accomplished before? With that much downforce you could probably drive the incorrect means up for a second or so before reaching the boundaries of suspension journey. It's a really high-tech trying affair, with multi-colored dials, knobs, buttons and screens agogo, and a 5-inch digital sprint that feels prefer it belongs in a online game.
This results in a 50% shorter transmission than the earlier 7-speed dual-clutch, and a new transmission weight of just 198 lbs. With less inner inertia, the Jesko has a never-before-seen response time. This year’s cars are lighter, sleeker, and extra highly effective than any that have come before.
It is capable of insanely quick upward and downward gear modifications between gears at near mild speed, whereas sustaining optimistic torque. This is thanks to the simultaneous opening and closing of clutches that enable for seamless acceleration or deceleration. What takes LST from impressive jesko to evolutionary, is that these shift-time benefits apply when changing between any ahead gears. Koenigsegg has equipped Jesko with an adaptive, lively rear steering system that will increase responsiveness and heightens the senses at both high and low speeds.
Loz has been considered one of our most versatile contributors since 2007, and has since proven himself as a photographer, videographer, presenter, producer and podcast engineer, as properly as a senior options writer. Joining the team as a motorcycle specialist, he's covered nearly koenigsegg jesko every little thing for New Atlas, concentrating these days on eVTOLs, hydrogen, power, aviation, audiovisual, weird stuff and issues that go fast. Koenigsegg has thus put forward the word "megacar" for his latest launch, a 1,600 horsepower monster named the Jesko, after his father.
Painted in Tang Orange Pearl with silver and carbon-fiber accents, this Jesko is a visual homage to the early authentic Koenigsegg CCR colour palette. While the seven cars we’ve profiled right here managed to return close or supersede that focus on, that doesn’t imply that cars with barely slower speeds aren’t performing phenomenally. It currently holds the world land pace report with a top pace of 763 mph (1,228 km/h), registered on October 15, 1997. It is also the primary land car to officially break the sound barrier. The Agera RS was handcrafted only 25 times,10 of which were pre-sold earlier than the primary displaying. The company reported that this was its fastest-selling mannequin, and it stays one of the rarest out there.
LEGO has accordingly developed an improved wheel part, integrating a dual-moulded rubber tyre which is thinner than other designs. Jewels Briggs is a proficient bartender and cocktail expert with over 15 years of expertise. She has created unique and scrumptious cocktails for a few of the top eating places and bars within the nation. Jewels is passionate about crafting distinctive drinks and studying about new trends within the cocktail business.
The supercar itself is beautiful, with sinuous curves and a modern body. Featuring an ultra-light carbon-fibre chassis, the Venom GT almost reads feline, as if it’s a black panther poised to leap ahead at any second. But that shouldn’t come as too much of a shock, as every thing about the Nevera was designed to push boundaries. “A Nevera is extremely highly effective and charged by lightning,” says the corporate, which seems fitting with its 0-62 mph speed of 1.85 seconds. The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut advantages from carbon fiber wishbones in the suspension, along with a carbon fiber/kevlar body.
The Jesko Absolut is missing the ridiculously large wing of the Jesko, but there are extra changes than initially meets the attention. The dive planes and bonnet vents are gone, the entrance splitter and the whole rear end have been reshaped, it will get new aerodynamic rear wheel covers and the experience peak is lower than the Jesko. These assist high-speed stability and truly scale back drag, quite than rising it. Response from the entrance axle is excellent, as is the feedback by way of the steering. There's noticeable roll on the change of path, however you'll have the ability to feel exactly what's going on where the entrance tires meet the tarmac.
The Koenigsegg "ghost" badge is present on the Jesko as the car shall be built in the former Swedish air-force Hanger in Ängelholm Sweden. The meeting line within the hanger has been renovated since Agera production and the plan is to supply one car each week. From the latest supercars, wonderful yachts, luxurious houses and exquisite watches, to high-end motels and resorts from everywhere in the world and the newest tendencies in know-how and fashion. The Jesko, which debuted Tuesday at the Geneva Motor Show, is the successor to the 1,360-horsepower Agera RS, the automotive that broke the world report for land speed final 12 months. We’ve streamlined this car from not just an aerodynamic and design perspective, but also from a high-speed stability perspective. As a outcome, the Jesko Absolut has a phenomenally low drag of only 0.278 Cd.
In different supercar information, Ferrari unveils the 828-horsepower Daytona SP3. Hooking a laptop computer up to the Jesko, Christian von Koenigsegg demonstrates simply what the new configuration is able to as he takes it up to the 7,800 RPM restrict in simply 230 milliseconds. This offers the Jesko an average of 31,seven-hundred RPM per second — making this the world’s quickest koenigsegg jesko price revving and most responsive production automotive. The world’s fastest revving and most responsive manufacturing automobile. “We are very excited to showcase this pre-series Jesko along side the start of manufacturing of the one hundred twenty five Jesko and Jesko Absolut buyer automobiles.

In Worse Arms - Epilogue
You can also find this on AO3!
Summary: Din sighed as he hit his boots against the side of the porch, removing the last of the mud that had dried there over the day with a few practiced kicks as he reached for the door. It had been a long day, but he was home now and ready to relax.
Notes: We have reached the end of the journey my friends! No angst here, only fluff.
Chapter 9
——————————————————————
Epilogue - A Few Years Later
Din sighed as he hit his boots against the side of the porch, removing the last of the mud that had dried there over the day with a few practiced kicks as he reached for the door. It had been a long day, but he was home now and ready to relax. He paused, grinning as he listened for the footsteps he knew he would hear, then swung the door open just in time to catch an armful of an excited toddler.
“Daddy!”
“Hey, kid!” Din said, hugging him close before blowing a raspberry in the crook of his neck, making the boy squeal with laughter.
“No! No, daddy, no!” the child exclaimed, trying to pull away, but Din refused to release him, shutting the door behind him as he attempted a second raspberry. “Papa!”
“Did I hear someone call for me?”
Looking up, Din saw his husband come strolling down the corridor, wiping his hands on a tea towel.
“Papa! Help!” Grogu cried, reaching out for him, and Din went in for another attack.
“No one can save you from the tickle monster!” he declared, and started to tickle Grogu’s belly and underarms, making him squirm and laugh.
“Pa-papa!”
“Coming to the rescue, green bean!” Cobb replied and stepped in to take him from Din’s hands, setting the young boy against his hip. “Why do you always run to the door when you know this is gunna happen, huh?”
Grogu, still giggling, just shrugged, but he kept an eye on Din’s hands as he stepped in close to give Cobb a kiss.
“Hello, husband,” he said with a smile.
“Welcome home, husband,” Cobb said, grinning back in return. “I've been making cupcakes. Grogu’s been helping me, isn’t that right, green bean?”
“Uh huh,” Grogu said with an enthusiastic nod. “I counted the eggs!”
“And we didn’t try to eat them this time, did we?” Cobb asked, and Din couldn’t help but remember why he fell in love with this man all over again when he smiled down at their son.
His recovery had been painstakingly slow after what they’d gone through, and he’d suffered semi-frequent nightmares for months, but Din had been there for all of it, and it had only made their bond stronger. Everything that had followed they had done together as equals, from deciding what to eat for dinner to working hard to get the adoption papers for Grogu.
As Din looked down at their smiling boy, he knew it had been worth every hardship.
“No, I didn’t,” Grogu said.
“Good boy,” Din said, ruffling his hair and making him giggle. “Did you want to help me make dinner?”
Grogu shook his head. “You’ll tickle me again!”
Cobb laughed. “Your plans have backfired, tickle monster!”
“Curses!” Din said dramatically, revelling in the moment.
He would have been happy to stand in the hall for hours, but Grogu quickly got bored of sitting on Cobb’s hip and ran off as soon as he was put down.
“How was work?” Cobb asked as Din removed his coat and shoes, setting them aside before walking with him back to the kitchen.
“It was alright,” he said with a shrug. “Peli wants me to tell you to bring Grogu for another visit soon, when you’re not working, of course.”
“That woman’s gunna spoil him.”
“Like we won’t?”
“Hey,” Cobb said, pointing his finger in Don’s face. “Don’t call me out like that.”
Din chuckled, reaching for the radio on the kitchen counter. The sound of drums and an agogo beating a rhythm had him smiling, and he took Cobb’s pointed finger in hand. “Dance with me.”
Cobb laughed. “You always ask me to dance with you.”
“You always say yes.”
“That’s because I always want to dance with you, darlin’.”
Din pulled him closer, moving their hips to the salsa beat. He hummed to the lyrics before at last singing the words, his lips dancing over Cobb’s jaw and mouth in silent promise.
“Voy a reír, voy a bailar
vivir mi vida, la, la, la, la
Voy a reír, voy a gozar
vivir mi vida, la, la, la, la...”
When their lips finally met at the end of the song, Din couldn't help but think that he couldn't wait to live the rest of his life with this man.
——————————————————————
For those of you who want to know, Din is singing along to Vivir mi vida by Marc Anthony! I know people don’t usually dance to it, but it’s a nice song and Din would definitely dance in the kitchen to it.
Translation to English for those who want/need it:
I hope you've enjoyed this! It's always so much fun to write these things and this was a LOT of fun! I look forward to seeing you all in my next project!
I'm gonna laugh, I'm gonna dance

What are Drum Breaks? The 10 Best Break Beats Ever Recorded
What are Drum Breaks? The 10 Best Break Beats Ever Recorded: via LANDR Blog
Drum breaks are a special moment in a song.
When the band drops out and you get to hear what the drummer’s been playing all along, you can’t help but tap your feet.
What began as a helpful and interesting way to introduce a song or bring back to the final chorus, ended up changing the course of music history.
Drum breaks played a big role in the development of rap, electronic music, drum and bass, and more.
Drum breaks played a big role in the development of rap, electronic music, drum and bass, and more.
Knowing how they work and which ones producers still use today is useful if you want to make rap and electronic music.
In this article, I’ll show you everything you need to know about drum breaks and where the most famous ones came from.
What is a drum break?
A drum break–or breakbeat–is the part of a song where the band stops playing except for the drummer. During this section, the drummer continues playing the main beat without taking a solo. The drum break section is intended to put emphasis on the main beat played throughout the song.
How drum breaks became so important
Drum breaks first started popping up in Motown and soul music in the 60s.
Drum breaks first started popping up in Motown and soul music in the 60s.
Many famous tracks from artists like Al Green and James Brown featured them.
The drum break is a staple of the soul genre, but they also became very important for rap producers in the 90s.
That’s because drum breaks didn’t have anything other than the drum part in them, so producers could easily sample them and speed them up or slow them down.
With a good drum break sample in hand, it was possible for hip hop producers to layer whatever samples they wanted on top and make a whole new track.
How to use a drum break in your track
Drum breaks are inspiring. If there’s one that catches your eye, here’s how to use it in your track.
Your first step is to either use a DAW or a sampler.
If you’re going to use a DAW to sample your drum break you can just drag and drop the sample in your track timeline, or into a sampler plugin.
It will always help to know what the drum break’s original tempo is, so you can configure your DAW’s grid and clock easily. You can do this by researching online or using a tempo finder tool.
Using a drum break in a hardware sampler can be a little bit more tricky.
Your first step is to decide on the tempo you want your track to be.
Then you’ll have to load your drum break into your sampler. Usually, this requires chopping up the sample in a DAW, unless you can find a sample of your break that’s already been chopped.
Once your drum break is in your sampler, you’ll have to tune the length and pitch of the sample to make it sit properly within however many steps your sequence lasts.
Tune the length and pitch of the drum break to make it sit properly within however many steps your sequence lasts.
Most of the time it’s best to set up your drum break for a 16 bar loop, but you can always extend it to 32, 48, or 64 steps if it makes sense and your sampler allows this.
Hot Tip: Most drum break samples are not cleared, meaning that you can’t legally use them in a song without crediting and paying royalties to rights holders. The best way to avoid getting blocked by distribution services due to sample clearance is to only use drum breaks and samples from a royalty-free sample provider like LANDR.
Here’s the 10 best drum breaks ever.
1. The Amen Break
The “Amen Break” is perhaps the most famous drum break of all time.
The “Amen Break” is perhaps the most famous drum break of all time.
It was performed by Gregory Coleman in The Winstons and when it came out it was an overlooked b-side. Until rap producers in the late 80s re-discovered the track.
Since then, the “Amen Break” has been used in more than 4000 songs and even inspired drum and bass, a popular genre of electronic music.
When the drum break comes at 1:26, you’ll immediately recognize just how many songs it’s been used in.
You can hear it used in music everywhere from NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton” to Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”.
2. Funky Drummer
The Amen Break is great and it deserves the number one spot on this list, but personally, Funky Drummer is my favorite breakbeat ever.
James Brown knew he had a good drum part when this song was written, it’s what inspired the track’s namesake.
Performed by the legendary Bernard Purdie, Funky Drummer is a huge drum break that’s used in many tracks.
Performed by the legendary Bernard Purdie, Funky Drummer is a huge drum break that’s used in many tracks.
You’ll hear it in “Let Me Ride” by Dr. Dre and “Mathematics” by Mos Def, among many others.
3. Apache
“Apache” is full of drum break sample worthy moments. From the opening breakbeat to the bongo break down in the middle.
This great soul track was used by hundreds of producers, including in Sugar Hill Gang’s hit “Apache” which paid homage to the track.
But Apache has been used in many genres beyond old school hip hop. You can hear it in Aphex Twin’s “Heliosphan” and modern rap tracks like “100 Miles and Running” by Logic.
For a dancey upbeat breakbeat, “Apache” is definitely a go-to.
For a dancey upbeat breakbeat, Apache is definite go-to.
4. Impeach the President
Another classic sample that’s found its way into hundreds of tracks is “Impeach the President” by the Honey Drippers.
While the drum break is seemingly laid back, it’s full of attitude and it drives the beat along. It’s no surprise given the context and message of the song.
This drum break has been used many times.
It’s famous for its appearance in tracks like Notorious B.I.G.’s “Unbelievable” but even today producers still use it in tracks like J. Cole’s “Wet Dreamz”.
5. I’m Glad You’re Mine
Al Green was one of the best soul music writers the world has ever known.
He relied on a great backing band to help him write his tracks, so it’s no surprise that many of his works live on from being sampled by other producers.
“I’m Glad You’re Mine” is a particularly famous cut because it was used in several Notorious B.I.G. tracks.
The cross-stick sound in the drum break is what sets it apart from other breaks, it adds a different sound texture and has a hard-hitting quality.
The cross-stick sound in the drum break is what sets it apart from other breaks
6. Take Me to the Mardi Gras
Instantly recognizable as the sample that was used in Run DMC’s “Peter Piper”, this sample uses some interesting percussive elements.
The pitched agogo bells that ping throughout are what make this drum break particularly interesting.
This is a great example of how one drum break can be used to inspire an entire track.
7. Synthetic Substitution
Another well-known sample that’s been used in hundreds of track is “Synthetic Substitution” from Melvin Bliss.
The hard-hitting drum groove combined with its vintage sound are what characterized this drum break and made it useful in many sounding gritty tracks.
For example, you’ll hear as the main beat throughout Wu-Tang Clan’s “Bring Da’ Ruckus” and Rob Dougan’s “Clubbed to Death”.
8. Funky Mule
“Funky Mule” is an often overlooked drum break that brings a lot of funk and punch to any track it’s used in.
You’ll find a lot of electronic producers gravitate towards this sample given its rhythmic qualities. It works very well for electronic genres like jungle and drum and bass.
For example, you’ll hear it in “Soul Surfing” by Fatboy Slim, it’s often used by jungle producers like Photek or Goldie.
9. Squib Cakes
Another lesser-known drum break that electronic and rap producers gravitate towards alike is “Squib Cakes” from Tower of Power.
This is a heavy, groove-laden sample that fits perfectly into both jungle and hip hop styles.
This is a heavy, groove-laden sample that fits perfectly into both jungle and hip hop styles.
Squarepusher makes use of it in his track “Fat Controller”, hear how the funky groove fits into a drum and bass style context and still bring a ton of funk.
In Cypress Hill’s “Checkmate”, you can hear how it works in hip hop context.
10. UFO
“UFO” from ESG is a great example of how a drum break can be combined with a melodic sample to create something really interesting.
Throughout “UFO” you’ll hear a dissonant droning string part that’s played over the top of the drum break.
Playing with the pitch of the sample allowed producers like J Dilla to create an entirely new composition in his track “Geek Down”.
The same concept was at play when the break was used in Notorious B.I.G.’s hit “Party and Bullshit”.
Break the mould
There’s so many famous drum breaks out there, it’s almost overwhelming to get into.
This list is a good place to start but with a little bit of research you can find inspiring breaks all over the internet.
The real fun starts when you dive into making tracks with breaks yourself.
So get out there, pick a couple breaks to chop up in your DAW or sampler and have fun making something of your own!
