A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I really enjoy the moody sort of dusk colourway I found for this one. The mint, teal, purple and lavender are simply gorgeous together on that dusty pink background. They make my heart sing! I planned this post long before I realized it was gonna be scheduled on Midsummer’s Eve! How crazy is that? Today we in Sweden celebrate the longest night of the year, and protect ourselves by wearing flower crowns as the veil between this world and the next is the thinnest. Did you know that that large “B” looking symbol on the left is an ancient Norse rune? It’s been called Bjarka, Berkana, Beorc and Biarkan and it is simply pronounced “b”, (or “p” or “mb” depending on context). The Bjarka rune stands for birch or birch branch, femininity, fertility and childbirth. It is also connected to the goddesses Frigg and Freja. It’s been discussed that the shape of the rune represents two female breasts, or a pregnant body from the side.
