August 27 is International Lottery Day. I never won big money in the lottery, but it’s always sad to hear about the curse of lottery winners. A lot of it has to do with mismanaged finances as well as family and friends coming out of the woodwork looking for handouts. If you didn’t earn the money, I think psychologically, it makes people think they are entitled to a handout because you just got lucky and didn’t work for it. Coming into money is always a blessing but beware the poisonous fruit on your money tree such as family and friends that will shake you down for its leaves. Even if you don’t have money, it’s still worth thinking about because some people will still try to take advantage and shake you down for whatever you have such as time, homework, food, skills, talent, etc… Learning to say No is important.
