Rebellion in Posters
Previous posters that inspire/spark rebellion
These posters share a few common visual features. The inclusion of text is extremely common within posters that present rebellious interactions - this is to improve the demand of the poster, as the words usually reinforce the message presented or create a direction for the viewer.
The colours used in all the posters above mostly red, black and white. The colours are often used to convey the emotions of anger and urgency.
The typography is a key feature, as all but one poster featured uses capital letters to portray the message. The fonts used are tall in and present a demand and authority.

My Poster
I have decided to focus on creating a poster which not only incorporates the way art has been apart of rebellion in the past but highlight how art can be used to inspire rebellion in a contemporary rebellion.
When looking at the history of rebellions and revolutions there is often a face or leader associated with that Rebellion. These faces become visual icons for the rebellion.
For example, the civil rights movement mainly took place between 1954-1968. Individuals who are heavily associated with the civil rights movement are Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks and Nina Simone, all pictured below.
However whilst these faces, among many others, create an association with a certain movement or rebellion it can create an individualisation within the rebellion. This is also found when artists present works that do not engage the audience, this can isolate the audience from the message meaning to be conveyed.
For my poster, I want the audience to be conveyed in a way that allows them to view themselves as an activist or part of a certain movement/rebellion/resistance.
