My son was talking about a child who had made some "unkind choices" at Preschool. I said something like "oh dear, we should all be kind to other people," and he nodded sagely, and said "you asked Daniel if he needed help to hang his coat up. That was kind." I asked his little friend if he needed a hand with his coat the other day. I'd completely forgotten about that innocuous moment, until my son reminded me of it. I wasn't doing it as a conscious act of kindness, or to show my son how to be kind, I just offered to help because the little boy was clearly struggling to reach his peg. My son recalled it SO quickly though, it was obviously significant to him. Kindness to a 3 year old is offering to help with a tricky coat peg, apparently! Anyway, just to say that maybe your child notices the little acts of kindness that you don't even realise you're doing. They're always watching. 👀 My son didn't mention it at the time. He's very vocal if I do something he doesn't like (such as tidying up!) but doesn't usually comment on the stuff he approves of.
