I write about it very often in my tags, so I decided to make a post out of it actually.

Imagine being Molly Foster-Graham.

Your first husband dies of cancer when your son is six. You still love him and miss him, but you decide to try to get your life back together, because you have a child, right?

Here is a delated scene from the script (which is also partially a scene from the book):

I believe that in the book it is clearer, but it's not really that Will or Molly loved each other very much. For Molly it was rather a marriage to feel less alone and was born out of convenience for both of them.

But I will stand by this: Poor Molly.

Yes, it happens that women marry closeted gays without even knowing it, but there is a difference between this and the fact that it turns out that your husband is not only a closeted gay, but also has murderous and cannibalistic tendencies, and, on top of that, has a so-called "murder husband", who currently is in an institution for the criminally insane and is so possessive of your husband that he sends another murderer to kill you and your child. You barely make it out alive and your husband still chooses the guy who put you in danger.

Traumatic. Both for Molly and for Wally. This poor boy went in his eleven-year-old life through like... A LOT.

I'm going to be controversial here:

I am sick of the Hannibal fandom saying that Will does not love Molly, and also Wally.

I feel this is mostly because it 'gets in the way' of Will/Hannibal. I've seen it treated as Will can ONLY love Hannibal. That it isn't possible for him to love anyone else. And this... Just isn't true.

A lot of people don't love just ONE person in their lives. It's possible to love someone you were in a relationship in the past, before you met The One. Every love is different. So yes, I believe that Will did love Molly, and Wally, too.

The fact is, he just could not love Molly as he loves Hannibal, but he still loved her. You can see his guilt about this throughout the Red Dragon arc. And I think Molly knew that Will could not love her in a way she might have wanted, but she was married before. Her first husband died from cancer (at least in the book), so she had no choice in losing him. The death of a loved one doesn't automatically end that love. She and Will knew that neither of them could love the other the same way as their great/true loves.

No one forced them to get married. They both actively made this choice and yes, Will was trying to have an instant family, something completely different from his before, but I think on some level Molly knew that. She knew about what happened in Will's past, and she clearly accepted it. Molly was a good mother, so even if Will didn't tell her, I feel like she would have found out information one way or another, for Wally's sake.

I think we really needed to see how they met and fell in love, or at least there should have been a brief mention (maybe they met in the dog park or the vet's, or at the store or something).

I also feel that Will did care about Wally. Loved him, even. But what happened with Abigail and the baby with Margot (which I believe was the baby in the pig, by the way) made him hold Wally at arm's length, because he was afraid of losing a child again. He wasn't the dad that stepped up, but he was the dad who tried his best, at least, even if his best wasn't great.

Will loved Molly. He just couldn't love her how he loved Hannibal, and that is totally acceptable. Normal. You can love people different ways, and love different people at the same time.

I'm staking out this hill, thank you very much, and if you disagree, you disagree.

On Season 3, Episode 11. Gotta disagree with Francis on the "Not very handsome" comment. Jfc, of course Hannibal told Francis to attack Will's family. The dogs 😭 My heart was pounding the whole scene with Francis trying to kill Molly and Walter. Poor Reba, but also best that she's not around him. Loved seeing Hannibal in the mask. The talk between Molly and Will was nice. Really fun to hear Hannibal say "Crazy sons of bitches." Only 2 episodes left, and I'm so excited

Hannibal is in the bshci And his life is fucking hell.

Alana comes in to tell him things going on in the world. Chilton takes everything from him including his drawings of will. He has a Gard watching his every move in this glass cell. But his world really comes crashing down when Alana tells him that will is getting married.

Will feels like he's on cloud nine he’s getting married and he’s gonna have a step son his life has never been better. No murders. No dead bodies. And best of all no cannibal psychopath that killed his daughter. He’s never told molly about his and Hannibal’s relationship all she knows is will helped put him where he is today. She also didn’t know will had a secret box with Hannibal’s things in it but why would she need to know that it’s not important. It’s not like Will keeps the box a secret he just never brings it up. But shit starts to go sideways when Jack tells will he needs him back on a case.
