Hey!!! Omg! It's been a while! I haven't forgotten about this project of mine, despite the long dry spells in between little update crumbs. I have been really inspired by another artist's original passion project lately, and although said project is pulling a lot of my brain's focus, it has SOMEWHAT motivated me to work on my own project some more!

I have been cooking up new characters, new set concepts and character story elements, I just haven't posted much about it cuz I get anxious that if I give too much away, the final project will lose some impact- but I realize finding fans in the early stages of a work can be helpful in keeping the motivation alive! So I will try to get better about dropping a few things here once in a while ✨

Mentre gli italiani lavoravano in fabbrica o in ufficio per guadagnarsi da vivere, e producendo qualcosa, lui scopre che per avere soldi e prestigio non deve far altro che parlare, fare sceneggiate e incitare gli italiani a odiare altri italiani. Non sopporta il Sud perché lì, con la scusa del "tengo famiglia", campano tutti con i soldi dello Stato senza fare un cazzo. Dice lui. Così per coerenza si sposa, quindi tiene famiglia, e sua moglie Fabrizia Ieluzzi viene chiamata più volte a lavorare dal Comune di Milano amministrato dalla Lega Nord: prima dal sindaco Albertini, poi dal sindaco Moratti, tre ore al giorno, con compensi tra i 20 e i 36 mila euro annui. Soldi dei cittadini. Divorzia (perché lui è cattolico che bacia il rosario nei comizi), trova un'altra compagna, Giulia Martinelli, e pure lei finisce per lavorare su chiamata alla Regione Lombardia a guida Lega Nord (Roberto Maroni). Soldi dei cittadini. Diventa direttore di "Radio Padania" beneficiaria di finanziamenti pubblici pagati dai cittadini. Fa il giornalista per la "Padania", anch'essa pagata con altri milioni di euro pubblici. Soldi dei cittadini. Di quegli anni l'ex direttore de "La Padania" Gigi Moncalvo racconterà: "Ho provato a licenziare Matteo Salvini per due volte. La prima volta fu a cavallo delle feste di fine anno. Durante quei giorni, chi veniva a lavoro, riceveva il triplo della paga. Salvini in quei giorni non c'era a lavoro. Non era nemmeno reperibile dove avrebbe dovuto. Ma quando a fine mese arrivò il foglio delle presenze lui lo firmò lo stesso". "La seconda volta fu quando scoprì che aveva falsificato quattro note per i rimborsi spesa. Quando glielo feci presente, a muso duro, lui mi rispose: tu passi, io resto. E credimi: diventerò sempre più potente". Nel frattempo però si scopre che un po' Ladrona è pure la Lega Nord, che incassa 49 milioni per sostenere le spese elettorali e politiche, ma invece usa i soldi dei cittadini per comprare lingotti d'oro, diamanti, lauree ai figli, ristrutturazioni di case, pay tv, interventi al naso ecc. Soldi dei cittadini. Così nel 2014 la Lega crolla al 4%. Salvini rischia di rimanere senza soldi e poltrona. Allora dice di essersi sbagliato per 20 anni con la storia della Padania e del Sud parassita. Ma anziché nascondersi e restituire ai padani 20 anni di stipendi, si improvvisa da un giorno all'altro il più grande dei patrioti italiani. I quali, ovviamente, gli credono. Lo eleggono, dandogli altri 14mila euro al mese, e lo acclamano. E a nessuno viene da ridere al pensiero che questo straordinario attore, scambiato per politico, per giovane, per esordiente, per patriota, che manteniamo da un quarto di secolo con i nostri soldi, ora vada in giro per l'Italia a dare lezioni a tutti. Lies Sleeping timeline

Guys, it turns out three weeks without internet was what I needed to complete this, even though this book has an actual real-world event that can be tied to a specific date in a specific year, and I didn’t have to do any back-calculations from sunset times or solstices AT ALL. It’s like a tiny curative fandom miracle. 

Main takeaways: Lies Sleeping takes place over about two months! I’m as surprised as you are. It read like one very hellish week. Also, we still have nearly a full year to go in book-canon time before the Brexit referendum. how many books do we wanna bet BA can cram in there before Peter & co have to join the rest of us in The Darkest Timeline.

Dec/Jan 2014/5: The unwritten Kimberley Reynolds novella takes place, prior to the events of this book, and involves the ‘centre of a small town’ being ‘levelled’

Early June 2015: Peter passes his detective exams (Detective Stories)

Day 1 (Sunday June 7th): Peter, Guleed, Carey, and Nightingale stake out Richard Williams' house and fight the Pale Nanny/Charlotte Greenwood. That night, Peter has dinner with Bev, Nicky, and Abigail at Bev’s house. Day 2: (Monday June 8th): Peter wakes up at the Folly and spends time in the gym, has breakfast with the team, visits the Whitechapel Bell Foundry and finds the magic bell, then goes to check on Williams. Charlotte Greenwood triggers Williams’ murder tattoo and is shot by Lucy the security guard. Peter attends Charlotte’s autopsy with Walid and Vaughan.

Day 3/4 (Tues/Wed June 9th/10th):  Peter does community outreach trying to find out where Charlotte came from and calls Kim Reynolds, probably early on Wednesday morning his time (it’s ‘past 8pm in Washington’, meaning it’s past 1am in London. An early sign of how hard Peter’s pushing himself.)

Day 5 (Thursday June 11th): Peter checks on Zach, talks to Marcia the magical-weed selling canal traveller, has an uninformative visit with Walbrook, and spends the night at Beverley’s. Day 6 (Friday June 12th): Peter has IPCC interviews all day about Charlotte’s death, spends some time guarding the bell at the foundry, then heads back to Bev’s.

Day 7/8 (Saturday/Sunday June 13th/14th): Nicky comes over to Bev’s very early. Peter does some Latin practice and notices how quiet the Folly feels after-hours now.  Day 10 (Tuesday June 16th): Michelle Obama visits London, diverting Guleed and Nightingale’s attention. Lesley shows up at foundry while Peter is there and he doesn’t have Frank Caffrey shoot her. They destroy the bell. Day 11-13 (Wednesday-Friday, June 17th-19th): Peter reads the terrible movie script, gets back Postmartin’s notes on it, and talks to Kim Reynolds again.  Day 14-15 (Saturday/Sunday, June 20th/21st): Peter travels with Beverley and Abigail to Father Thames’ Summer Court and spends the night there. On the Sunday he’s called back to London by Stephanopoulos to talk to Geneviève Nguyễn about the ritual sacrifice in the City.  Day 16 (Monday June 22nd): Peter and Nightingale interview Patrick Gale and talk about magic becoming public.  Day 20 (Friday June 26th:) Team meeting

Day 21-26 (Saturday-Thursday June 27th-Jul 2nd): They’re called to the MOLA at 3 in the morning over an attempted break-in; Peter takes notes and does follow-up.  Day 27 (Friday July 3rd): Peter follows Zach to Lesley’s apartment Day 28 (Saturday July 4th): Peter goes back to Folly, sleeps for some of the day, and interviews Zach in the afternoon.  Day 29 (Sunday July 5th): Peter consults Nightingale about sources of information on Punch and talks to Sir William via Lady Ty. Peter is given a prophecy.  Day 33 (Thursday July 9th): Lesley calls Peter to warn him a River is being kidnapped. Walbrook is rescued from Chorley and his tinned vampire in an epic car chase. Day 34 (Friday July 10th): Peter goes to another meeting, takes his mum shopping, and has a haircut. Bev and he stay over at his parents’ place. Day 35/36 (Saturday/Sunday July 11th/12th): Peter takes the weekend off, by order, and helps Maksim do some planting on Wimbledon Common.  Day 37 (Monday July 13th): David Carey goes on medical leave. Lesley calls Peter and they meet at a pub. He leaves and gets into a police car. It’s Lesley, and she kidnaps him.  Day 38-45 (Tuesday July 14th - Tuesday July 21st): Peter has Fun Torture Time with Lesley and Chorley and spends a week in an oubliette with Foxglove. By Sunday he’s made friends with her, and on the second Tuesday she tells him her story.  Day 46 (Wednesday July 22nd): Chorley and Lesley visit and Peter hears bell noises and swearing. That evening, Foxglove releases him from durance vile and he reunites with Bev at the Folly.  Day 47 (Thursday July 23rd): Peter and Abigail talk to foxes; Molly is absent.  Day 48 (Friday July 24th): Peter and his mum cook for everybody at the Folly; that night, he and Nightingale see Foxglove and Molly dancing.  Day 49 (Saturday July 25th): All hell breaks loose; Lesley shoots Stephanopoulos (in the leg) and Chorley ‘dies’ in a van crash. 

Day 50 (Sunday July 26th): Nightingale goes to Glastonbury and Guleed to the Midlands. Peter goes to visit Punch and makes Caffrey and Beverley worried he’s suicidal. That night, he confronts Chorley and Lesley at Covent Garden and Lesley shoots Chorley (in the head). 

Late July: Peter is suspended while Chorley’s death is investigated. He’s told it will be for months.  August: Nightingale begins a school for amateur practitioners; Foxglove is established at the  Folly; Peter and Bev go on a double date with Sahra and Michael. Late August: Beverley tells Peter she’s pregnant. By inference, she’s due sometime between February and April 2016 (depending on how far along she is when she tells Peter).

Y ahora que estamos "casi" acabando septiembre yo me digno a subir las molonidades de agosto, pero mira, EG QUE NO TENGO TIEMPO NI PÁ MOLAR. Esto fueron algunas cosicas guays que ocurrieron:

1. New Girl. Me he visto la serie unas tres veces porque YO FAN A TOPE de este grupito de compis de piso, pero ahora mola más porque la veo junto a mi chico antes de irnos a dormir, así que nos vamos a la piltra más felices que una perdiz ♥   

2. Le molo a Holly Molly. Resulta que en su IG stories dijo que mi cuenta le molaba y mira, yo flipadita de la vida porque una nunca se acostumbra a que gente a la que admiras de pronto diga que LE MOLA LO QUE HACES. Encima esto trajo a más seres c��tricos a mi perfil de instagram y ahora somos una familia más apretujadita pero feliz ♥   

3. Feria de Artesanía. Este es un plan que suelo repetir año tras año junto con mis papos (padres, para que me entendáis). Ver cosicas hechas a mano, musiquita canaria de fondo y terminar cenando EN ER PEPE CHIRINGO, lo mola todo. Este año me pillé unos pendientes maravillosos de Ivonne Diaz Jewelry que ahora uso SIEMPRE PORQUE SON EL AMOR, y una nubesita amorosa de amigurumi de Ayres del Sur, porque ya sabéis que soy ULTRAFAN DE LAS NUBES así que no me pude resistir.

4. Pintar junto a Misu. Trasladé mi estudio por un día e invadí el de mi churri. Allí me planté con mis acrílicos, pinceles y los gatetes que ya os he enseñado unos cuantos post atrás. Y él con sus pinturas, sus miniaturas y toooodo el talento del mundito. Combinación PERFECTA para una mañana de domingo ♥ ♥ ♥   

5. Jefe de obra Ramiro. Un día antes de entrar en el cine nos pasamos por una sala de recreativos en la cual están las típicas máquinas llenas de muñequitos y en la que es casi imposible pillarte alguno con el GAAAAANNNNCHO (léase con voz de extraterrestre de Toy Story). PERO ESE DÍA NO, ese día Misu iba a comerse el mundo y tras un exhaustivo trabajo en equipo (el manejando los mandos y yo indicando la posición) nos hicimos con un peluche de Playmobil al que he llamado Jefe de obra Ramiro y el cual tiene ahora un huequito en mi coraçao para siempre ♥

Since we came back from the cruise with a wicked stomach flu (thank you, norovirus), we were not able to leave the following day for our Four Corners camping trip with my in-laws as planned. Four Corners is the unique location where Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona all meet. It’s pretty cool to think you can stand in four states at once.

Anyway, we needed a few extra days to recover, so some things had to be sacrificed. The original itinerary called for visiting The Great Sand Dunes National Park on the way to Pagosa Springs for a night before heading to Durango, Ouray and Glenwood Springs in southwestern Colorado. Instead, we lost two days to our gastroenteritis and drove straight on through to Durango. We also missed the day we had planned to visit Mesa Verde National Park and the actual Four Corners, which are both driving distance from Durango.

The cool thing about sabbatical is that it wasn’t the end of the world to have our plans derailed a little bit. Time is so much more elastic on sabbatical than it is in “real life.” Normally, being laid up in bed feels one-hundred times worse because I feel like I’m either getting behind at work or missing out on something fun I can never recapture. On sabbatical, those worries don’t exist. It’s a realization that I hope to hold onto and bring back to my “real life.”

Durango Highlights:

Trent did all the planning for this trip, and I must say, he’s pretty darn good at picking out campsites. He knows how much I love the water, so he found campsites on the water in all of our campgrounds. In Durango, we stayed a the United Campground, and Trent charmed his way into the very best spot (site 103). We directly overlooked both the Animas River and the Narrow Gauge Railroad that ushers the Durango-Silverton train. So cool to watch rafters and kayakers paddle by as well as the train right from our camp site.

We also didn’t have a bad meal in Durango. Since we had been sick, and since we were traveling with my in-laws (who stayed in hotels), we ate out more than we usually do while camping. Trent is great about asking locals for suggestions, and the lady at the pet store suggested a great little cafe near Fort Lewis College for breakfast, CJ’s Cafe. The green chile was excellent! Guido’s Ristorante had a dog-friendly patio and the waitress brought our dogs treats and fresh water, earning herself a $20 tip. The fresh pasta was incredible!

The Durango to Silverton train ride was pretty spectacular, if VERY hot. It had been near 100 degrees in Durango, and the ride to Silverton didn’t bring the temperature down too much, but it was beautiful just following the Animas River through the mountains.

We ate at the Little Bear Cafe in Silverton, walked around a bit looking at shops and then headed back down to Durango. Silverton is a true mountain town with only 637 year-round residents and not a paved road in sight. That’s Trent and his Dad outside The Shady Lady.

The other direction

Although it was stiflingly hot during the day at around 100 degrees, it was so nice sleeping at night without a hat and tons of layers to stay warm. The nights were around 50 or 55 degrees, and I was in heaven. I always said I could live in a cave because the temperatures stay around 50 year round.

Yes, that’s a personal fan around my neck. Don’t judge. It was 100 degrees!

All in all, we agreed that Durango would be a pretty awesome place to live or at least have a vacation home (adding it to the long list). You have Purgatory ski mountain nearby, a small regional airport, lots of dog-friendly businesses, outdoor activities in the mountains and on the river, and fun things to do like visit a Honeyville (for fresh honey of course), farmers markets, a fish hatchery, and great restaurants and shops. I loved the slow pace of life. I suggested Trent study acupuncture and open a clinic and I could do the marketing. That could work, right?

Ouray Highlights:

The drive from Durango to Ouray took a few hours and is arguably one of the most spectacular drives in America, and also one of the scariest (think 1000 foot cliffs and no guard rails). Three mountain passes connect Durango to Ouray, and a section of the drive is known for its harrowing twists and turns and amazing overlooks.

Tangent: The first time I ever did this drive was in a winter storm when I was working for the Colorado Department of Higher Education and on a work trip with my mentor, Gully Stanford. Imagine whiteout conditions and a state car (Ford Taurus) with bald tires. So, it was nice to experience it in perfectly glorious summer weather this time around.

First we passed through Coalbank pass at 10,000 feet. Then Molas Pass, which had a beautiful lake and campground that is now definitely on my list for future trips. Finally, Red Mountain Pass, which gives Red Mountain Creek its rusty red color from all the iron.

  This drive was like being buried in the mountains at times, like the mountains were just layers and layers of blankets swaddling us.

I’ve always proclaimed myself to be more of a water girl, but driving through these mountains and mountain towns made me consider that I just might be a mountain girl. The pace of life, the wildlife, the piney fresh air, the outdoor lifestyle, the communion with nature. I could get used to this.

Ouray was a very cute little town in its own right. We stayed at the Ouray RV Park and Resort (site 38) right on the Uncompahgre River. Another great find by my husband, but not as much shade at this site as we needed in the hot weather. But it did have a convenient riverside trail that went from our campground into town in just under a mile. Perfect for a morning or evening walk.

My mother-in-law and I took a day trip to Telluride, Colorado, which is about an hour or so from Ouray and literally nestled in the mountains. Basically the highway just deadends in this quaint but upscale mountain town (apparently Oprah owns a home here). I was on a quest for a cute sunhat, and finding one that didn’t cost a fortune was a feat. But I did it!

Finally, on the way out of Ouray to Glenwood Springs, we did a very short hike up to Cascade Falls, which is literally right in the center of Ouray. Since we’d both been sick, we avoided strenuous hikes, but this was a .3 mile round trip up to a beautiful waterfall, which felt great in the heat.

Glenwood Springs Highlights:

This was my favorite camp site on this trip, and possibly of all of our camp sites so far. We stayed at Glenwood Canyon Resort (site 17), which was right on the Colorado River. Lots of white water rafters waving as they passed by, and yes, another railroad. And so much shade! So cool! We spent most of our time just sitting by the river drinking hard lemonade.

We were only in Glenwood Springs for one night, but we made a point of heading to the hot springs pools. There are lots of hot springs in southwestern Colorado, and we could have enjoyed them in Durango or Ouray, but we waited for our last night to relax in Glenwood Springs. It was worth it. No pictures because I forgot my camera, but it was blissful to steam up in the cool air of the mountain evening.

Overall, our short little trip to southwestern Colorado had a number of firsts:

Hot camping: I’ve never been so hot, and I’m from Texas! Being in a pop up camper, even with the windows all open, on a 100 degree day is just not that fun. It’s like baking, and I learned the best solution is to put a wet buff on my head and sit in the shade until the sun goes down.

Rover.com: We needed a dog sitter while we took the Durango – Silverton, a six hour round trip ride. So, we used Rover.com to find one. We had a great experience; the sitter picked up our dogs and took them to her house which is on a horse farm (it was Durango afterall), and she even sent pictures throughout the day. Molly and Tucker seemed to love it and came back exhausted.

The Columbine is the state flower of Colorado, and I’ve seen pictures, but I’d never seen one in the wild for some reason. Well, they were all over the mountainside as we arrived on the train in Silverton. I tried to get pictures, but with the moving train, it was difficult. I did notice that they tended to grow in the rocky crags, not in the grassy meadows, which I thought was pretty cool.

So, needless to say, this was a wonderful 5 day trip to southwestern Colorado, and although we didn’t get to do everything we had planned, we had a great time with family exploring the little mountain towns. And now I can’t stop thinking about how to make a permanent move to a little mountain town and to a slower pace of life!

Our next adventures will take us to Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park for all of July.  Stay tuned!

Tina. I always end up giving her eyebrows because she seems kinda blank without them. Also she basically has Sponge’s face. I don’t want her to have a white shirt like Incidental 40, but for now I have no better idea for the colour (if it was pink it would be Pearl’s shirt, and orange is Surimi’s colour, and blue will look too serious, etc etc)

Amber. I can’t get her proportions right. Eyes should be bigger, legs thicker, and the glasses thinner. Also her clothes make her look kinda like a grandma, which was not the intention.

Hey did you know I'm making a game kinda??

Hey!!! Omg! It's been a while! I haven't forgotten about this project of mine, despite the long dry spells in between little update crumbs. I have been really inspired by another artist's original passion project lately, and although said project is pulling a lot of my brain's focus, it has SOMEWHAT motivated me to work on my own project some more!

I have been cooking up new characters, new set concepts and character story elements, I just haven't posted much about it cuz I get anxious that if I give too much away, the final project will lose some impact- but I realize finding fans in the early stages of a work can be helpful in keeping the motivation alive! So I will try to get better about dropping a few things here once in a while ✨
