Hey!!! Omg! It's been a while! I haven't forgotten about this project of mine, despite the long dry spells in between little update crumbs. I have been really inspired by another artist's original passion project lately, and although said project is pulling a lot of my brain's focus, it has SOMEWHAT motivated me to work on my own project some more!

I have been cooking up new characters, new set concepts and character story elements, I just haven't posted much about it cuz I get anxious that if I give too much away, the final project will lose some impact- but I realize finding fans in the early stages of a work can be helpful in keeping the motivation alive! So I will try to get better about dropping a few things here once in a while ✨

Long time no post!! I can't believe I woke up to an email this morning telling me this blog is 5 years old, holy crap! I swear the dream isn't dead, the candle is still lit, though barely... I really do hope I am able to make this idea into something finished someday. Anyway thanks to anyone who is still following this blog. I hope I can bring you more stuff to get hype over in the coming years 💖 let's just keep swimming 😁

Sorry for the lack of updates folks- have some Nate expression sketches :’) I won’t let this game die....

This is a big step for me though! Working on character expressions and reactions helps me visualize assets for character conversations. Designing characters is all well and good- but really making them feel like they have personality and soul is a whole nother battle. Nate has always been one of my faves- so I figured I’d try and figure him out first :)

Kinda wondering if I should revisit the designs I have done before I go too far the way I’m going.  Like an issue I’m running into is that the fish are easy to personify but then things like crustaceans and cephalopods look more alien and there’s a discord there- 

I think I need to make the fish look less human too :U

we’ll see.  Doing some sketches rn.  What yall think?

I love Debbie!! She’s super cute! She seems like the type to be super passionate about the things she likes, but really shy around people she’s not comfortable with.

Sorry if it’s not quite in character, but I picture Deb as more of a bookworm (book eel?) and, you know how eels like to hide…

I went to the farmer’s market yesterday and at the honey guy’s booth and there were all these bees just hangin out.  Checking out the beeswax tabs, floating around the honey jars, not being aggressive, just really gentle and investigating or something

and as he was giving me a sample of the wildflower honey one of them landed on his hand and he just took a drop from the jar and dabbed it on his hand for the bee, and when I asked if they were his bees he said “No, but they show up every time I come out, I think they just know my truck” and this guy is well-known among the local bees and lets them sit on his hand and eat his honey and I just really like the bee guy
