We found much more than we expected at Mojave Desert National Preserve. It is not a flat desert. The elevation, geology, temperature and plant life varies across the park. We expected cactus but were surprised to find Junipers, Joshua trees, caves, lava tubes, cinder cones, sand dunes, mesas, canyons, springs, mountains, mines, ranches, and more! . At first we were concerned about the forecast, but the scattered clouds, rain, and snow the last two days made our experience better. The moisture brought out the colors of the rocks and plants, and kept the dust down. The snow was just enough to make it fun. We boondocked and loved our spot. We checked out the other established campgrounds and Mid Hills was our favorite, but it is best suited for smaller rigs that can handle the washboard road. . These pictures came from all over the park.
